I came here from an advertised pottery sale on Facebook. Once I arrived, I didn't realize how close it was to where I used to work in North Hollywood. The pottery here is unbelievable. They have every color, style and fountain that you can imagine. The sale section was limited but it was still cool to explore the property. There is a sweet garden cat that will happily say hello and hang out with you. They also have a number of succulents and some larger plants. I regrettably have to report that the indoor section of plants is not very good health wise. They had some unique species but almost everything had either spider mites or Thrips. For parking you'll need to find a spot on the street and they have a restroom if you need a break from plant or pottery shopping The pricing isn't bad and well worth it if you find what you've been looking for. read more

Not only does Jackalope offer a FANTASTIC selection of fountains, bird baths, pots, saucers and succulents - BUT the store provides a complete feast for the eyes! First of all, this place is beautiful. I wish they had a section where customers could come sit and read books, perhaps order a simple coffee .. but hey I can dream. I'm an avid gardener and while repotting some plants one day my neighbor told me about this place. I came by immediately desperate for a new pot and was shocked at the variety in not only color but shape, size, texture -- WOW I wish I had a yard to put things in. They even had fountains for your home or yard. They have a variety of indoor and outdoor pots, some with built in water dishes and some separate. They even had a whole section of succulents and a clearance section (which was empty) right in front (if you enter from the side street). After strolling and obsessing i found a fantastic pot and was so glad it wasn't more than $30, i expected to pay more for it. However on my second visit, I did see a decent pot in the clearance section. It was cracked and the lady still tried to sell it to me for $30 ... nah boo boo, you can keep that. My main gripe about this place is they sometimes don't speak or ask if you need help. It's not all the time but has happened more often than not that I couldn't find hell or didn't see anyone until I was ready to check out. Anyway, the best part is the kitty! Every time I come in he always finds me and loves on me a little while I shop around. Super cute, bonus points for cats. I will be back here equipped with coupons. I recently had my fountain cleaned by Jackalope and was very satisfied! I bought it there just over 3 years ago. I had it cleaned last year and it was time a definitely overdue this time. Jackalope is a nursery and pottery place, a big garden, with beautiful items, succulents you can get for your home/patio area/garden. Absolutely lovely pottery store. They had a wide variety of pots of all shapes and sizes. They also have fountains, pre-made arranged succulent planters, and some individual plants. We didn't buy anything but were very inspired and will be back once we have more ideas. Very spacious inside, with good amount of shaded areas. Customer Service really lacking here. I was all excited to stop by and spend money, but when I walked in, I found one guy hosing off the floor. He glanced up and said "hi" and continued spraying. I found the "office", walked up to the "window" and a young guy looked up, and asked me what I wanted. I said I saw on yelp they had water plants? Water what? he said. Water plants. For my pond. I replied. I heard a lady's voice from the back (never saw her) say those plants over there are water plants. The guy pointed to a planter with some plants and a fountain, and said "those are the water plants". Then he said "I didn't even know we had water plants". Didn't even have the decency to walk out and show me. I know I came on one of LA's hottest weekend of the year (it was about 100 degrees) but come on, what happened to customer service? Sadly I poked around the "water plant area", and no longer wanted to spend the bucks at this place, if they weren't willing to make an effort themselves. read more

Jackalope's pricing is on point, and most of all they have the full array of design options unlike some other places I've visited over the years. I went here last week and experienced some of the worst customer service I've ever encountered in LA. Yes, I recognize the magnitude of that statement. I know Angelenos love their plants (I sure do) but this is a store that sells pots and fountains. Sure, they're high quality, but they're a commodity. I can get large pots from Home Depot for 1/10th the price, but I chose to go to Jackalope for a $300 pot because I wanted a specialty pot for a special plant. Unfortunately the manager went out of her way to make me feel small, belittle me, and spurn me when I approached her for help. I guess it's shame on me for sticking around long enough to get rebuffed so many times. I ended up going to Potted in Los Feliz and encountered the loveliest, knowledgeable manager who guided me to the perfect pot for my plant. It cost slightly less than what I saw at Jackalope and the experience washed away all the bad vibes from Jackalope. Go to Potted instead -- they're wonderful!! read more

I showed up last week around five and looked around the entire store at bird baths even stopping to say hi and pet a friendly orange kitty. After a sweep of the store, I didn't see anything I liked and started to head out when an employee asked if he could help. I mentioned birdbaths and that I basically saw two-three options and during our exchange a woman approached us and rudely told me I had to leave that they were closed as of 5:30 and the front gate should have been locked. I looked at my watch and noticed the time and told her I had been there for awhile and it wasn't 5:30 yet. I let the employee show me the options and got out of there. She doesn't need to worry, I won't be back despite buying things from Jackalope in the past. read more

Went to a bunch of different pottery's. I had bought huge pygamy date palm trees and needed huge planters. Went to so many different places.. nowhere was as organized, color coordinated as this place. They had every single size every single color and shade... If you asked me a few months ago if I'd give jackalope a 1 star review, the answer would have been no way! However, since my last few interactions, its been made clear to me that they have no interest in keeping some customers -customers that are local and frequent there and spend their money on local NOHO businesses rather than Home depot or Wayfair. A few years back I fell in love with an expensive 3-tiered fountain at Jackalope. I spoke with them again and again about the fountain because I was a little worried I wouldnt know how to take care of it or keep it from building up algae or whatnot. Natalia was nice and told me how i could pay them for set up and installation ( to make sure it was properly set and done right, which i did) and that they offer (for a fee, no problem) cleaning and servicing, and essentially - my local spot had my back with this fountain so go ahead and buy it already! Cut to a few weeks ago I tried to make a service appointment and they said they have so many clients that they are booked weeks out. Ok, fine, no biggie, but put me on the schedule for the next available opening even if it is a few weeks out! The answer was no. They weren't scheduling any more at the moment. This makes absolutely no sense to me. So - I wait a few weeks and give them a call. They told me that they no longer sell that fountain in their store so therefore they no longer service it. Would have loved to know this was a possibility but as the service appointments were explained to me, no one mentioned this caveat. If anything, come this time and then let me know during our service appointment that in the future I'll have to find a new company for servicing because of a NEW rule that once the fountain is sold out from the stores - I'm on my own. This is very important for people to know. If you're considering spending a thousand to thousands of dollars on a fountain here... DON'T! What they were actually telling me without coming right out and saying it is that they don't want my $100 service appointment fee to service my fountain 2 blocks from their shop. They are ok with losing me as a customer and would rather focus on all the new sales they can get instead $$$!!! Such a bummer. read more
