I ended up at this location because I was on the hunt for a medusa plant for my newly growing collection of succulents and cacti. There were so many plants to see that included both indoor and outdoor plants with a nice selection of planters too. I ran into two of the workers that informed me that the plant I was looking for just sold over the weekend (should have called ahead of time to check, but still wanted to check their selection out hehe). They did give us their number to call ahead about a week or so from now to ask about their stock again. I liked wandering around their selection of plant lofe because they did have some plants that I had only seen online. I ended up walking away with two cacti during my trip there and excited we to see them grow and flower, especially since one of the workers helped me pick out a cactus that will bloom purple flowers and had already started budding :) Hopefully will make a trip back here again to snag the medusa plant it want!!! read more

Extremely rude and unprofessional staff! Came here with my children to purchase some plants but unfortunately the old guy working there kept following as if we were stealing or wanted us to leave. My son found a place with birds and the guy screamed saying we cannot enter after he seemed annoyed and was acting like he was closing the shop. I bought a beautiful plant and it started dying a week into bringing it home. I went back to the nursery to consult with the only person who was working there (different than the guy that was there when I bought it). I told him that the plant is dying and he said not to worry, the plant is in shock. Do what you were doing and it'll come back. Another 2 weeks goes by and the plant is completely dead. I took the plant back and now the first guy who I bought it from is there, the owner. He's telling me the plant is getting too much sun that's why it's dead. I asked to exchange it and he said he doesn't exchange plants. I explained that I came back before the plant was completely dead and your guy told me something completely different. His was response was that guy doesn't know anything. Then why the heck did you hire him for this position?!?! read more

This place is fantastic! I work in Design and nothing makes me cringe more than seeing a home with great furniture and plants in terrible pots! It's difficult to find cool and interesting pots and vessels that don't cost a small fortune via an antique store or boutique import store. 'Dream Garden', is an incredible local-owned small business with a huge selection of every shape and size ranging from Modern to pieces with soul and character that look like they were purchased at auction. My partner wanted to adventure during phase 2 of the COVID-19 pandemic. Here was our experience on a Saturday morning. Parking: Street parking and maybe 3 or 4 parking spots inside. Feels: The surroundings are nice. It's a garden in the city of Los Angeles so the surrounding can get busy. The vibe itself is pretty nice, the garden is big with a range of plants - big, small, flowers, and cactuses. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great. The dude knew his plants and was pretty friendly. OVERALL: 4 Stars. I enjoyed my time here. This is a spot for plant enthusiasts and plants. Even if you're not a fan, there are a few good spots to sit and admire the plants. I happened to see this place driving home while shopping at another garden spot and decided to stop. Incredible variety/types of plants. There were plants here I've never seen before or anywhere else....there are more outdoor plants then indoor ones, but still something for everyone....AND the pots! Very unique with all ranges of styles and materials....AND hanging out in a back corner were the fanciest pigeons I'd ever seen! The good: -free small parking lot in back (thank you!) -lots of variety -friendly employee helping when needed The bad: my only complaint is the majority of pots and plants had no pricing on it. Businesses aren't always aptly named, but the paradise you'll find on the Northeast corner of Sunset and Highland (stretching to McCadden Pl) certainly deserves to be called the "Dream Garden". As soon as you walk in, you're immersed in towering, stunning plants: Bougainvillea, Mandevilla, flowering vines, exotic cacti, stunning trees unlike anything you'd see in the nursery section of the huge chains. There's even an indoor greenhouse that feels like you're in the rainforest. And if you need pots or planters, you'll find a rare selection of some of the finest, high quality items I've ever seen. But perhaps what makes this place most special is the owner, John. I rarely write reviews, but because of his knowledge, and his kind nature and excellent customer service, I wanted to take the time to steer others his way. I've been gardening all forty years of my life, but in the several months that I've been coming to the Dream Garden, I've learned so much from him. He's pointed me to a cutting edge soil that has even my most stubborn plants jumping for joy. He's taught me proper feeding and watering regimes, and how best to plant certain notoriously tricky plants. This is literally my favorite plant shop hands down! Their outdoor selection is huge, and always have the best pots ever! I love the owners! They always greet me by my name and ask for the plants I've taken home! Thats pretty impressive counting I have over 30! The prices are always good and they don't go with the fads and up the price on a plant when they become "popular". They always offer tips and tricks, to repot the plant for you, and even drill holes on your pot if needed! I absolutely love this place! read more

I've been coming here for years and really enjoyed shopping for plants when Tim, the co-owner, would help me pick out the perfect succulents. Unfortunately, since Tim left, the owner, John, has really made the shopping experience terrible now. I came in with a large custom order and after asking one simple question about a pot, John went completely insane and started screaming at me aggressively. I've never experienced anything like this in my entire life and was left shaken and upset by his rage-filled explosion. This man does not care about customers, he has serious anger issues. If you're willing to put up with a violent psychopath, then shop here. Otherwise, maybe look elsewhere for your plants. I know I certainly will. read more

You might pass by this place it's so nondescript, but it's right across the street from Chik-Fil-A. IT IS A SANCTUARY. They have a variety of outdoor and indoor plants. Small indoor plants can range from $8 for succulents, $14-18 for hanging plants, $35 for floor plants, $85 and up for 3-4ft tall pants. All affordable and all beautifully healthy. I got a carnivorous hanging plant (for all the small flies I get now that I'm a plant parent). A carnivorous hanging plant!! How cool is that? The only issue is sometimes they are so busy and there's only one person working. The one person working however, is very knowledgeable. However, USE GOOGLE before you ask them your plant questions. The staff are very nice but overworked. I went once when they weren't busy and a staff lady offered to repot my plant for me if I came back with it! I'm new to plants and I found that very reassuring and comforting - even if I wanted try to repot it myself. If you're looking for a nursery in LA, go support this one. Great selection. PROS: Great selection of plants and pots! They have some unique plants here that I haven't seen anywhere else at affordable prices! CONS: I took major stars off for this because one of the employees, who I think may have been one of the owners, was not wearing a mask at all. Ironically they have a sign posted at the back entrance stating "MASKS REQUIRED". Also, one of the female employees (maybe also one of the owners) had a mask around her face but kept lowering it all the time. I felt the most uncomfortable when I went inside to pay and the gentleman without the mask also walked inside and was ringing another customer up. I was no way going to stay inside a room with a stranger who wasn't wearing a mask, so I voluntarily excused myself and waited outside while I was rung up. As much as I enjoyed the plants here, I won't be coming back if there's going to be people wandering around without masks on... not cool. read more

I have been to dream garden before, about a year ago when I came looking for planters to go with the new plants I had purchased for my new apartment . Well, it's been a year and these babies have grown up, so I needed to re-visit dream garden and get bigger planters. I really consider this place a hidden gem. It's not a place you would notice immediately when you're driving the busy streets of sunset Blvd, but once you find it and walk in, it's really nice. Lots and lots of plants to browse through. The only strange thing is that you can walk around for 20-30 min and still not be clear if anyone works there. Even when you're walking by the office and saying "hello? Hello?". But eventually we did find a nice lady to help us pick the planters we wanted and she was very nice and helpful. She was also very knowledgeable about how we should replant our plants. We had visited several local businesses before finding John at Dream Garden. What a difference! They not only have some of the most unique and beautiful plants, but they know so much about them. After helping us select a great arrangement of plants for our new backyard sanctuary (that's kept us healthy and sane through this pandemic), John delivered everything and even helped us confirm our placements. A lot of this is new for us, and John takes our calls and texts to provide guidance on our care for these beautiful creatures. One thing stood out above all, and that is John's honesty. We had picked out a giant, beautiful $350 aloe that was to be a centerpiece, but as we were about to take it off the truck (I know it was NOT easy to get it INTO the truck) he noticed some yellow growth on it that he immediately recognized as a sickness that would take months to treat. He told us we couldn't have it and gave us our money back. We've since spent many times the cost of that plant at Dream Garden because honesty is rare these days and should be rewarded. Never-mind that we're now hooked on the wonderful feeling of being surrounded by such magnificence. Who wouldn't be, with hummingbirds coming to hang out with you each and every day. I went here once in the plant selection was pretty interesting. It was a rainy day. THEY LOCKED ME INTO THE DAMN NURSERY DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS! I HAD TO CLIMB THEIR SLIPPERY 12' HIGH FENCE TO ESCAPE....IN THE RAIN. I called and left a message, advising them to check more thoroughly If customers are around before deciding to close. Nobody shouted "We are closing", "Hello, is anybody here?" First. It would've done a lot to call me back and at least apologize for that. That's called customer service. Came here on a Saturday afternoon looking for some plants. There is a few parking spots on the side of the nursery. They have plenty of succulents, nice looking planter. The prices aren't listed on the plants so you'll find yourself asking how much the plant/ planter is several times. They lack selection on indoor plants, this is primarily an outdoor nursery. A lot of their Plants didn't look healthy, several of them had brown edges, and holes inside the plants. read more
