I've been working with Moon Valley Nurseries on a large tree we planted in my front yard, and the experience has been excellent from start to finish. It took a crew of 8 to 10 people to bring the tree in and get it planted, and they did an incredible job with the placement. They walked me through exactly what I needed to do to care for it, especially during that crucial first year. I've also had two visits from their MVP Pro Care team, and Kevin, Alba, and Travis Zack were fantastic. They showed up on time, gave me a heads up before arriving, and took the time to explain what they were doing and how I should continue caring for the tree to keep it healthy. They were professional, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their work. Overall, working with Moon Valley has been easy and seamless. I highly recommend them for large tree installations or any yard plants you're considering. They really know their plants and how to care for them properly. read more

If you're planning a big tree purchase, check Facebook Marketplace first. I didn't know the true cost of trees and paid the price for it--literally. Local nurseries on Marketplace sell the same trees with nowhere near the 200% markup, and the service is often better. I paid $10,000 for what turned out to be the smallest, thinnest, already-dying privacy hedges. Completely overpriced and disappointing. They even sent out an "arborist" after I raised concerns. I specifically pointed out that one tree was thin and dying. She did nothing, left it in place--and now the tree is completely dead. Never again. I learned a very expensive lesson due to lack of knowledge and experience. Hopefully you don't have to. Learn from my wallet. I'm still stuck with a dead tree. read more

Even though I was not at home we were in text contact throughout his visit during which he inspected our purchases from over a year ago, answered questions made recommendations and improved the tree base areas for all the trees. I love anything and everything plants. I happen to see this place while on my way to Home Depot so I stopped in. There were so many amazing shrubs, cacti, trees and more. They also recently opened an indoor plant section through the office area. I felt the cost of something's was a bit high but then the cost of other things were reasonable. If it can't get any better, Camille R. did!, I believe she is a manager or manager for the managers (she should be if not) because she handled her subject (me) with precision. I am not an easy person to please/convince after several incidences of feeling mishandled. But for her to reach out twice and also have the sales rep reach out to apologize for any miscommunication or mishandling shows the 'Big' personality/professionalism Camille put forth. She also represented the company she works for in a much better light. I truly appreciate people like her. We need more of this in a big company/franchise as this is lost in the business world this day and age. Moon Valley Nurseries helped me with choosing a large, adult Sweet Bay tree to act as a privacy screen in my backyard (to shield my yard from an invasive ADU MacMansion built behind my house). Joseline was very knowledgable about trees and you can tell she has a real respect and admiration for them. She drove me all around Moon Valley's enormous lot so I could see all the tree options. She worked with me on my budget, which was so helpful. The planting team, led by Enrique, was the best. Professional, organized, and they made what I thought was going to be a big challenge and a long day a piece of cake. They helped with sight lines and placement of the tree. Everyone at Moon Valley Nursery in North Hollywood took such great care of us from start to finish. It's so huge and would've been so easy to feel overwhelmed but Ani helped us navigate our way through their massive selection and she chose some really beautiful trees and plants for us (we are obsessed with our new palo verde tree!!). They also offer some really great packages that help you get the most bang for your buck, which was very appreciated. Worth the drive to this amazing nursery!! They have every imaginable plant and tree in a vast facility. It is very professionally designed and has a high-end feeling to it rather than many of its competitors in the surrounding areas. There seems to be nothing they don't carry. The staff are extremely helpful and eager to help you find what you need. I was looking for a very large fiddle leaf fig tree, which seems to be difficult to find surprisingly. Not only did they have it, but they had it at an amazing price. They even threw in a huge bottle of what they call moon juice, which is a great plant fertilizer Concentrate and carried it to my car. Do not recommend this place. My mother was looking for a Santana Hibiscus flower, which is so difficult to find in Los Angeles. As I was doing my research online, I found the exact flower she was looking for on their website a few weeks ago. I called the store and spoke to a SA named Camille who said she would check if the plant was available and would call me back but never did. I called again the next day, and spoke to a person named Humberto and proceeded in stating the same thing however, did follow-up with me. He texted to confirm the specific style of plant I was looking for was unavailable but had other options in-stock or could place an order for what I specifically was looking for and would be ready in a few weeks. I placed the order online and waited two weeks. I did not hear from anyone so I texted him again and said it would arrive the Friday of the following week. I reached out today to make sure the item had arrived as I do not live close to this establishment. He prompted me to call the same person I initially spoke to (Camille) when I first called and she did not answer. I called the store directly where I spoke to an Anthony and said he would confirm and call back to see if the flower arrived. Waited over an hour and did not hear back so I once again called the store and the same person answered saying he would speak to Humberto or Camille to confirm. I received a follow-up call to say the plant had not arrived due to an issue with the delivery truck and how the plant was in-stock at their Malibu location if I was still interested. I think it's outrageous to have wait 2 weeks after having to follow-up myself multiple times and be inconvenienced due to a mistake from their distribution/delivery people and not accommodate to make things right and have the plant shipped to me or the store someway/somehow. Instead I was given the option of a refund or for ME to pick-up the plant all the way in Malibu when I live in the Silverlake area and is a very long distance. Moon Nurseries -- Landscaping Experience We were at a standstill with our gardening plans. The landscape architects we had interviewed simply were not a match for us. In an effort to move forward, we decided to visit Moon Nurseries, and it was there that we met Robert Cisneros. From the very beginning, Robert impressed us. He immediately sat down to discuss our needs, took detailed notes, and personally drove us through the nursery on several occasions -- three or four times in total. We appreciated how patient, cooperative, and considerate he was throughout the process. Robert took the time to explain the large plants and trees we ordered, including their origins and how each would be affected by the geography and topography of our property. He even invited an associate to join us at our home for a walkthrough to ensure the right selections were made. We conducted several of these walkthroughs before planting began. The service was excellent, the selection of plants outstanding, and the planting process smooth and efficient. The team of workers Robert coordinated were professional and exceptional in their work ethic. Although Moon Nurseries is not inexpensive, we truly feel we received outstanding value for the time, service, and quality provided. We have lived in L.A. area for more than 40 years and had no idea such a wonderful place existed nearby. But due to big problems with an old grapefruit tree and with the help of AI, we found Moon Valley Nurseries. I spoke with Camille on the phone who told me they were open seven days a week. So on a Sunday afternoon we arrived at this huge and amazing place. Huge and amazing is an understatement. Moon Vally carries countless plants in sizes from table top to full-grown trees. All staff seemed happy and relaxed, and one even escorted us to Camille's desk. Camille who manages this huge facility has extensive botanical knowledge and experience. She reviewed photos of our tree and made a quick, reassuring diagnosis. We agreed to the remediation plan, and I am now carrying out our part. Moon Valley's part will come in a couple of weeks.
