Friendly staff and great variety of plants, pottery and gardening equipment. Staff are upbeat and seem like they genuinely want to help.

Lots of variety, but honestly, the prices are the same as a big box store.. I had sticker shock! Based on reviews, I thought the prices were going to be lower. I did buy a plant and a hanger and dropped $80 .. I wanted to support them but afterwards I thought that it was overpriced for what I got.. Live and learn ! read more

Martin is amazing! He took my friend's sick Monstera, isolated the root rot, cleaned it, and repotted them as well a 4ft tall Alocasia Regal Shield! He gave us a lot of useful plant care tips too. I myself got a stunning Orange Spider plant (Chloropythum 'Fire flash') and I just had to have it, along with 2 great pots for $15! Love the staff and selection here! read more

I love this place! So well organized, such a great variety and AMAZING customer service. We just popped by to look around and ended up going home with two wall planters and plants! Prices here are pretty reasonable in my opinion. They even had a sale on pots and you can get a pretty decent sized one for only $25. The wall planters we wanted weren't pre-drilled but they did it for us which was so nice! They also potted the plants for us too. I saw some other folks bring plants here to get repotted. Definitely going to do that in the future! Whether you are looking for plants, soil, pots, plant food, gardening tools etc. I'm sure you can find it here. Great selection of indoor plants as well as herbs/veg. They only have a few parking spots available, but there is plenty of street parking. Will definitely be back! read more

Sunset Nursery - Petite pineapple bigger than the plant itself. So cute - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Los Angeles, California

This is my favorite nursery in LA! I live about 20 miles away, but it's definitely worth the drive. They have a huge selection of several kinds of plants and seeds. They have seed options that are hard to find in other stores. Any kind of garden supplies you may need, they will have it! I collect Passiflora varieties and Sally was so kind to order one that I wanted and it came so fast. Everyone there are the kindest and most knowledgeable people and they truly are plant lovers. I've never had a plant from here die and they take great care of all the plants there. They are the only nursery in the whole county that has different kinds of Passiflora in the spring and gets 2 sizes. You can't beat their prices either. read more

As a plant novice, I went to Sunset nursery to repot plants and to buy a new indoor plant. The selection of pots and plants are amazing. More importantly, the service I received was top-notch. I was shown the various pots I needed. Then I was recommended to indoor plants that would meet my needs. The service there is great and I highly recommend Sunset nursery read more

This place is so cute! They have a huge variety of plants and trees. You can tell everything is good quality and well take care of. Julio helped us pick out a selection of fruits and veggie plants, as well as plant one in a pot we purchased. He was clearly knowledgeable of plant care. He went above and beyond with his customer service. Compared to prices in Homedepot, it was fairly similar, but much better quality and variety. Definitely plan on returning! read more

As we continue our journey of finding plants we can keep alive, we are learning slowly what may work and what may not work in our area/climate. One of the things we see a lot in our neighborhood are citrus trees. They thrive. I mean really thrive in our area. But we were not able to locate any citrus trees for sale for years now. Luckily for us, one of our neighbors told us about Sunset Nursery. He told us that he spotted citrus trees here recently. And lo and behold, we finally found them!! We were so excited that we grabbed a lemon tree, a lime tree, and a honey mandarin tree. Now we just need to do our best to keep these babies alive. Sunset Nursery also has a great selection of succulents and pots to cover all your needs. Prices seem pretty reasonable as well. Very friendly service. Parking is a bit limited at the business - they have 3 parking spots for customers right in the front. There seemed to be plenty of street parking around though. read more

Great selection, and the employees are very friendly! I have a many plants- some more successful than others at staying alive and I appreciate the employees being so knowledgeable about what is an easy care, and what I'm probably going to murder. Everything is laid out in a way that makes sense, and if you can't find something they are quick to bring you to what you need. They have a wide price range which I appreciate since.... I don't like breaking the bank on plants when it's 50/50 on if I can keep it alive. read more

If variety is the spice of life, this place is spicy! So many varieties, accessories, gardens tools and soils, it is a dream. Minutes away from the overrated Home Depot, this is a walk to remember. Decent finds at this nursery. The prices were okay and reasonable for the quality of the plants. They definitely have some lush selections and some just "meh" quality plants. Overall, decent. I ended up getting a caladium, polkadot begonia, and philodendron brasil and was happy with my purchases. Parking was a bit of a bitch and the selection of pots was also meh. Amazing selection and service!! Everyone there was so helpful. I'll most definitely be back!!

I was on my Nursery Crawl and about to head home when I realized this was on the way. A friend of mine sent over to me an article from June of this year on Yahoo with a list of "14 favorite places for houseplants" so I came on here to Yelp and bookmarked them. Sunset Nursery is also allowing in a certain amount of people at a time. I went right before they closed. They have such a seed selection OMG!!! and the variety of planter plates is wonderful in all sizes... as to is their selection of pots. It tends to be hard to find Pilea these days as it seems to be one of the more sought after plants. Sunset had 2 huge ones, 1 that was hanging both were full and healthy looking - price was $35.00 I believe but I bought a tiny one at Potted 3 weeks for $30.00 so that is a STEAL! Plenty of soil, hanging basket ropes, mature trees, succulents etc. Artist Aaron Apsley water colored stickers are sold here too! Although the street address is Sunset Blvd. the entrance is on Fountain Ave. you can park on the street. I am going back for sure when I have more time and money to spend lol. Respectfully Reviewed. read more

I'm totally new to gardening. They have the most incredible selection of plants (and pots!). And what prompted me to write this review even more than that is the customer service. And I'll definitely be back! read more

There is street parking for this nursery. They had a line to get in that hugs their fence - with orange lines to designate the 6 ft spacing. They have a blue pop up tent for part of their line. Once you get to the front of the line, there's a board with lots of signage for social distancing and employees wearing face masks telling people when they can enter. They seem sociable with each other but didn't chat much with the customers in line. Once you enter, there's a bunch of shopping carts that you can grab. There's a lot of sections of plants, succulents, trees and pots to look at. They even have an indoor section with gardening tools, etc. They don't allow the carts in this section. I walked around this area without seeing any staff, which was fine because I didn't have any questions. On the counter there is a sign that says to checkout at the orange tent (towards the entrance) and a sign that says "As a courtesy, please limit your shopping time to 20 minutes" with the words 20 minutes underlined. read more

As I've recently been building my house plant collection, I was excited to finally come here after passing by this place numerous times! They have a wide selection of cacti and succulents, as well as some other plants that I can't find elsewhere (pilea and string of hearts)! The place was serene and beautiful to view, and I was in awe of the lotus pond they had for display. There were tons of ceramic and clay pots, but it seem like the variation of sizes weren't many. They either came really small, or really gigantic! I felt the pricing was a little higher than other nurseries, and some a lot of plants didn't look like it was in the best health so it did make me question if mine will survive. The staff appeared to be busy working, and helping others who had a big order so when I asked for help I was given instructions to find the plant I was looking for rather than guided there like they would for other customers. So y'know, something seems a little funky with that! read more

Besides overcharging for plants, I don't know how Sunset Nursery stays in business. I have not had good luck with their plants, but the last time I shopped there, over a year ago, they did replace TWO plants that died in pretty short order, so no worries there, but I took back a plant last week with the receipt, two weeks after I bought it, and it was clearly dying but they refused to replace it or refund my money. They didn't even care to see the photos I took showing the progression or that it started dying 2-3 days after I got it home. I left it behind and walked out. I'll stick with Rolling Greens in West LA from now on. read more
