I contacted Greencal Construction about replacing all of the windows in our condo unit through the Yelp "request quote" section. They responded very quickly and I began working with Hazel to determine which windows would function the best for our needs an also abide by our HOA requirements for exterior look. Hazel helped walk me through some of the technical features and showed me design styles (that I didn't know existed in modern windows) and ultimately gave me a very fair price to order and install all windows (7 total.) You can tell that the Anlin window brand that Greencal uses is extremely high quality as soon as they are installed, they block out mostly all of our street noise from the busy road outside and we have already noticed a difference in the overall insulation of our house. We went for a dark brown Espresso color for the outside to match our condo building and used a bright white for the interior of the windows and it looks great. The install took about 6 hours and required removing window bars and accessing up to a third story height. The installers name was Ernesto and he brought one other person to help, both were extremely knowledgable and worked efficiently while also taking great care to do the best job possible. After all of the work was done Ernesto stayed behind and walked us through some of the features of the new windows and gave us the opportunity to ask any questions. This has been a great experience and we would absolutely recommend Greencal construction and Ernesto to anyone else who is looking to upgrade their windows. read more

So this is just bizarre. A little over a month ago I contacted Greencal to come by and give a quote for our siding. Eddie stopped by, we chatted, he took measurements, and said he would get a quote over to me in a few days. A couple weeks later, wondering where the quote is, I called. They sounded surprised, that I hadn't gotten it yet, and said they'll get it to me. A week later I call again, same story. I'm not sure how many times I called at this point, but about a month after Eddie coming by and taking measurements, I get a call from Matt asking me if we went with someone else, or if we'd still like to consider them. I said I never got a quote to begin with! So Matt schedules Eddie to come back and get me a quote. Eddie calls me the day he's supposed to show, says he still has the measurements and will get it to me that night. Did I get it? You can probably guess at this point. That was a few days ago. Stupidly, I called again asking where the quote is. Matt, again, is surprised I never got one, said he would have Eddie call me. Guess I'm giving up trying to hire them. I would not recommend this company. To begin with, they did the tear down at the end of the week, and on Sunday night it rained, with no roof on the house and no cover. Water entered the attic space, wetting the rafters, insulation and did cause some cracks in the ceiling. By the time a representative from the company showed up on Monday, it was already the afternoon, so everything was already dried up; they tried to make it seem like it was not a big deal. They said there was no rain in the forecast, hence the reason they did not cover the house (I would think they would cover it no matter what since it was the weekend to protect it from whatever weather elements). A worker did patch up the cracks in the ceiling and repaired one rafter, but took a lot of back and forth since they were trying not to accept responsibility for the rain damage. The workers did not do a great job on the roof. The company had to send other workers to fix mistakes, and even they did not do it right. They had to remove shingles to replace boards on the roof, and used the same shingles again. Now those shingles had holes from the nails from the first time they were nailed down. It rained again that night and water leaked through. Those shingles they took off and re-nailed had to be replaced with brand new ones. The clean up was not great either. Nails were found around the house even though they were supposed to go through with an industrial magnet. The attic space was littered with debris and that took some back and forth for them to clean up, and even then it was not fully cleaned. There was some damage done when workers were entering the attic space through the ceiling entrance. I was told they would repair it, but in the end it, it still remains the same. When it came to sign off on the work, all these issues were brought up, they kept saying they went above and beyond (only to an extent; when they patched up cracks in the ceiling and fixed one rafter, after that, not so much). The two company representatives who were there with the paperwork were not happy, I could see they were frustrated and just wanted me to sign off so they could get paid (they actually did tell me that, sign off so we can get paid). In the end they did mark down the price on the total cost of the roof. It did save me money, but was it worth all the hassle and time? No, I would have paid the original amount if everything was done right from the beginning. read more

I do appreciate their thoroughness, and they were very honest, and said I had probably another year or two on the roof, but they worked out a fair deal, and since my neighbor was happy with work, we decided to proceed. The crew was On time everyday, and what we really appreciated was that they cleaned up well at the end of each day. The roof looks great and feels cooler in the house. Someone came to my house to evaluate a project almost a month ago. After a few days of not receiving the estimate I messaged the company. They said I'd receive it by the end of day. Since then I've messaged multiple times, and still to this day, I have never received the estimate for the project. What a joke. I've been in construction for many years and specialize in plumbing and water services. When I needed a large stucco job done and a slider replaced i had greencal come out and give me a free estimate. They were pretty long winded but i did appreciate the fact they made everything transparent for me to see their license and type of insurance. They even suggested they do the slider first so i could get an honest gauge of their workmanship. Slider went great and they even made sure to not collect any money until they were 100% done. Ugh... I generally don't like to review businesses that I don't actually do business with. I usually feel it's unfair to the business and isn't truly representative of their work. I'm making an exception in the case of Greencal in hopes I can save another homeowner some time. We are considering a variety of exterior projects, including stucco, facia updates, concrete patio, a porch/entryway update, a block wall replacement, driveway expansion, etc. We have received a few quotes, but reached out to Greencal because we wanted input from a contractor that could do most of the projects and specializes in exterior projects, instead of having to have individual vendors come in for each piece. The first tip off was that the scheduling rep asked if both homeowners would be at the appointment, clearly a sales rep was coming... Still we scheduled an appointment for a Monday and were no-showed. When we called to find out what happened, we were inform they had been trying to get a hold of us, but "must have wrote down the wrong number." It was a little off putting, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt and rescheduled for the next day. When the rep showed up yesterday it was clear in the first 5 minutes that he intended to sell us Tex-cote even though we explained we had already had a horrible experience with Tex-cote a prior contractor had installed and we just wanted regular stucco. During the walkaround, he proceeded to tell us that sandblasting was illegal (it's not) and that maybe the 3 stucco contractors that told us to sandblast were lying (they weren't). When we asked him if they did masonry he seemed confused we explained the block wall and it's footing would need to be replaced. When we asked which project he would recommend we prioritize, he focused on the stucco. My sense was that he was their Tex-cote salesman and couldn't accurately bid any of the other projects. After the walk around, he asked to come inside with his suitcase of samples. We weren't expecting this degree of interaction and frankly I was uncomfortable having all their stuff if my living room given COVID (although, they were wearing masks). My husband and I sat for approximately 30 minutes while he pitched us Tex-cote. I was still trying to keep an open mind, but the dealbreaker for me was towards the end of the sales pitch. The rep showed us a picture on his phone of a project for an "older lady in Carson" who called in Greencal after having a handyman do a very poor job patching less than 10 sqft of stucco on her home. After being ripped off by the handyman, she call Greencal to fix the handyman's work. The rep then proceeds to tell me that they ended up completely installing Tex-cote on the woman's entire home! Based upon the story told by the rep, I can't help but feel like this lady was sold WAY more than what she needed, and the handyman may not have been the only one to take advantage of her. If you know you want a full Tex-cote and want a salesman to be the one explaining it, then give Greencal a call. It seems other Yelp reviewers are generally happy with the finished product, so I assume they are good at what they do (that's why I didn't rate 1-star). However, be prepared for them to push Tex-cote (even if you don't want it), be ready for them to suggest more work than you may need (the lady in Carson), expect them to misrepresent the other exterior options (claiming sandblasting is illegal) and when it's clear they aren't closing a sale that day, expect them to rush off after scribbling down a total cost without any breakdown or details as to which projects were included in the estimate. read more

At first, I was very hopeful to have found a highly reputable, competent company to have repairs made to the stucco and siding of a home that I manage with my property management company. I reached out to GreenCal, and the owner, Arthur was very responsive. He put me in touch with his associate, Daniel, and we worked for several weeks to get a competitive quote with them. Daniel was very attentive and proactive- and aggressively worked to get the bid. I even personally went to bat for them with the owners of the company because they seemed so enthusiastic about the job. I fought to make sure GreenCal got the contract. When the time came for them to start the job, they came out to our home a second time to do a remeasure. Out of nowhere, they informed me that they weren't able to complete the bid because of a major oversight- the scaffolding that they needed for the job was going to be massively more expensive than anticipated. They suggested restuccoing only 3 sides of the house, and leaving the fourth untouched because that is the side they needed the scaffolding for. I proposed an alternative workaround, and asked for an amended bid. Ultimately, they wasted over a month of my time, and in the end weren't even willing to amend their bid to keep the contract. I am incredibly disappointed in GreenCal, and will NEVER use their services. read more

Not so trustworthy I hired them to paint and install windows all around my home, when the painters sowed up the first day they were not aware of what they had to do, as I was asking the and letting the painters know what I and Greencal had agreed about the work that had to be done they had to call their boss (subcontractors) to find out what exactly they were supposed to do, that took sometime to be clarified, after a few more miss understandings the (owner) Eric came to talk with me and we made some compromises which he never fulfilled completely ( to make the story short, I hired them in October of 2018 and I am still waiting for them to finish what Eric promised they were going to do.
