This guy's (Mikel) service was worse than bad. He was actually scary. He placed the sprinkler heads too high so the lawn couldn't be mowed. He left a giant hole in the ground where he had installed the sprinkler but never reburied the line. He tried to blame us for all of that. Tried to say the hole was from water run off. (If you could have seen the hole you'd know how outrageous this was.) He was so rude and angry during the course of getting this resolved that I was actually frightened to deal with him. We had hired him through Angie's list so I tried to report him there, but they would have told him it was us reporting him and I was afraid of what he might do. I have waited years now to finally warn people about him. We've left the state, so it feels safe to do so now. There used to be a review on the Internet about him from an older gentlemen who had the same experience. I don't know if you can find it, but you should go looking for it. This wasn't an isolated experience. read more

Recently I noticed another apparent leak in my yard in the same area as before, water pooling in the city meter box as well as the irrigation box and draining out to the curb. I called Green Tree to come check it out as they fixed the previous leak in the irrigation box. They showed up on time and got right to work. They pumped out the water and inspected the irrigation box, city cutoff valve, and property cutoff valve. They determined there was no leak in the irrigation system, and that the problem was either on the city side or between the city cutoff and the property cutoff (or possibly a high water table). Unfortunately there was nothing else they could do as that requires either city maintenance work or a plumber, and they recommended I call the city next. They spent about 30 minutes total pumping the water, inspecting the possible problems, and explaining it all to me. Add in their drive time and that's at least an hour of their time all in. I asked them what I owed and they said "no charge". They said if I do have any problems with the irrigation system to give them a call. I definitely will. Responsive, punctual, friendly, and helpful. If you like or are accustomed to mediocre services... these are the guys for you... they promise and fail to deliver anything of quality. They have no concept of what a well manicured yard should look like and when asked to deliver, over and over, again and again, they continue to provide disappointing results. This only leaves me with one conclusion... they have no clue or they are just plain lazy. I contracted for year round services every two weeks. I asked that leaves be collected during the winter months when there is no grass to be mowed. They said no prob. I watched them blow the leaves against the fence lines, into beds and hidden corners in horror. When I asked what they had planned for the remaining leaves they acted like this would be and extra cost. What in the world did they think I wanted when I asked for year round service to include leaf collection? What in the world was I paying for during all the winter months? They appear cheerful and accommodating... but have no real understanding of what quality lawn and yard services are and look like. Their rates are not discounted and are in line with the competition. They can't assert "What do you expect for discounted services." If you feel like you aren't entitled to quality services or quality isn't of concern... give them a call... I'm sure they'll have no trouble accommodating. read more

I called Green Tree after reading the positive reviews on Yelp. They set me up with an appointment to get and estimate for sprinkler system repairs for later in the week. I explained that one of my zones would not shut off all the way, and was leaking into the street. They rearranged their schedule to fit me in the same day, and Mikel showed up right on time... his brother Darynn stopped by as well to pitch in when he finished another job. They were able to locate all 5 of my zone valves, which had been buried under several inches of dirt and sod. He quickly diagnosed the problems, and was able to rebuild two problem valves on the spot. He even took the time to show me how to rebuild the valves myself, in case I have problems with the other ones in the future. They were very knowledgeable, and gave me recommendations for the best ways to set up the sprinkler programming and maintain my equipment. Great attitude and prompt service from a local Austin business. On top of that, their pricing was very reasonable. Doesn't get any better than that. read more

I contacted and met with Mikel Eggert from Green Tree Professional on Friday, September 28 after purchasing a coupon for a sprinkler system check/tune-up. I also wanted to discuss my landscaping project for my backyard which was to include 6 pallets of grass, 6 cu/yd of dirt, grade work, some irrigation work and some border stone restructuring. Regarding the sprinkler system tune-up, my three part complaint comes from the fact that the work was not performed as advertised on the coupon. The coupon states that the following will be performed: Full system inspection includes: * Cleaning of all nozzles and adjusting all existing heads and rotors for most efficient coverage * Inspecting for main line and lateral leaks * Dry areas * Checking rain/freeze sensor operation * Setting controller for proper watering time and duration What was done was the scraping of a few sprinkler heads with some little tool. I was told it's all good when you could plainly see that some of the heads were not spraying too evenly. The watering times were only partially checked out. The other items were not addressed at all. Secondly, after receiving an initial high bid of $3000 less a $200 discount, I emailed Mr. Eggert twice to see where we can mitigate some of the costs. One item in particular was irrigation work that I was initially told can be "rolled in" to the project cost but was instead itemized separately at $450. The irrigation work consisted of moving and replacing 3 rotator heads that I was providing and raising the height of two spray heads. Having not heard back yet, I contacted Mr. Eggert by phone Monday morning to inform him that a friend of mine was willing to do the sprinkler work for me; I was told by Mr. Eggert that since my friend was not a licensed irrigator that his company could have no part in my landscaping project. My understanding is that as a homeowner I am allowed to move or change sprinkler heads and this does not require a licensed irrigator. I am NOT allowed to touch the backflow connection to the city water line. Mr. Eggert's tone was punitive in nature. He did not offer one single way of trying to reduce expenses of the overall project which was still considerable. I am writing this complaint because I was told by Mr. Eggert that Green Tree is "primarily an irrigation company" yet they advertise various lawn services too include sod installation on their website. They do not state that there is a minimum job requirement or caveats that irrigation work is mandatory. It's not that he couldn't do the job; he wouldn't do the job and made no attempt to offer a solution. My communications with him had always been polite and respectful. After filing an honest but not complementary review of my experience with him and his company online, I moved on and started the bidding process over again. I was hoping to do business with Green Tree because my initial impression of Mikel Eggert was that he was upbeat, energetic and knowledgeable. They do have a lot of favorable reviews and I wanted to work with a company that had a good reputation. On Tuesday I received an early morning phone call that woke me up. Mr. Mikel Eggert proceeded to yell at me about his review, call me a couple of expletives and make threats. This was extremely unprofessional behavior from a company that has the word "Professional" in their title. I am a Disabled Veteran on a fixed income. $3000 is a lot of money to me. Not only was I shamed and punished for wanting to save money and make the job affordable, I was harassed, called names and threatened. Well done Mr. Eggert and Green Tree Professional LLC. Mickel is the man!!!!! My sprinkler system box was displaying nothing and I wasn't sure what the problem was. I called Mickel and he immediately returned my called to discuss what the problem could be, he informed me that it could be a problem with the power supply or the control box could have gone bad but he could definitely troubleshoot. I made an appointment for him for the following week but he was gracious enough to attempt to fit me in to the same day which I appreciated. After some testing, Mickel determined that it was the actual controller box that was malfunctioning and that it would need to be replaced(several hundred bucks) because it was a older unit that they don't make anymore. I told him I found the controller on Amazon for much cheaper and he recommended I try the Amazon option first because it should work. Low and behold it did and he charged me nothing for the visit and I was able to get my system back up without having to spend a bunch of money. You don't find people like this anymore and I will be sure to use him if I ever need it. read more

Greentree Professional Lawn Service just came out to our house yesterday and did a fabulous job! I cannot recommend them enough. Due to medical issues, we'd let our lawn get out of control. We needed a thorough clean-up--cut, edging, etc. The problem? Almost none of the lawn care services would offer a one-time price (they all wanted contracts--usually for six months or more). Not Mikel at Greentree! He came out and transformed our lawn--honestly we never had it looking this good. I'm sure we'll use him in the future, too, when life just gets to be too much. He's very personable, easy to talk with and dedicated to getting the job done to your satisfaction. The website is very helpful, too. I left a message to get my lawn aerated and cut and got a call back within 5 minutes. They were able to give me an estimate over the phone (I think they used Google Satellite maps to look at my lawn?) Anyways they came out the next day and did a great job with the lawn cutting/cleaning and the aeration. They also spread my grass food on the lawn for me and gave me tips to get my yard back to top shape. read more

Great company to work with. I was given a fair quote very quickly, and they came out and fixed my issues 3 days later. These issues were also difficult to find (cut wires in the middle of the yard, a leaky pvc pipe somewhere in my run). The job ended up being a bit longer than they quoted, which was more than understandable due to the job required. However, they deducted 1 hour of labor cost for this. I will definitely be using this company again for my next sprinkler issues. read more

These guys came out and did a number of things in my yard over the past few weeks - starting with fixing my irrigation/sprinkler system - which a few other companies said was "unfixable and needed to be dug up and replaced entirely" - not only does it work perfectly now, but it was finished in a timely manner and at budget....they saved me a ton of money right there so I had them trim some trees and redo a bunch of landscaping/planting. These guys are fantastic! I just bought a house and have no lawn equipment. I also have poison ivy all over the yard. They came out and gave me a quote which in my mind was more than reasonable for the mow and weed/ivy removal. They are usually only in my area on Tuesdays but was able to fit me in two days later at the end of the day! Before they started this yard looked horrid! It now looks like a real yard! I had valve issues, sprinkler heads leaking and a couple of areas that were not getting water due to overgrown shrubs. My backflow preventer needed repair as well. Michael repaired everything! Green Tree came to the house and adjusted my sprinkler system. They were polite and talkative - answering my questions about irrigation and making the necessary adjustments. The provided practical advice and input. I called them a few weeks later with an unrelated sprinkler problem, and asked if they could come out that day to fix it. They were on another job, and could not come out - so they helped me diagnose the problem over the phone...and made a suggestion about the fix as well. I took the suggestion, implemented the fix myself, and everything worked well. I offered to pay for the consultation, and they refused payment. Greentree 'Professional' Lawncare Services has left us with nothing but a lot of work and a mess. We had agreed with their owner that he would be building a waterfall feature in our pond, laying stones, mortaring, moving a tree, laying sod, add lightning, etc. The waterfall was not built properly and leaked water due to them not installing a liner behind the rocks. The owner said he would be on site for this project but instead had other yards to do so left his worker with no tools or insight on what to do. On more than one occasion his workers asked me to borrow tools or said they thought they were 'just moving rocks'. The mortaring job never was completed because the guy the owner sent out didn't understand how to mortar a pond. The purpose of mortar is to allow the water level to reach your rocks. If the owner was on site like he promised he could have helped facilitate what needed to be done. For moving our 'tree' which is a pomegranate bush they only removed half of it because the 'roots were too deep' and destroyed half of my bush. When they re-planted it they did not even use the 2 bags of potting soil that they requested me to buy and used normal dirt. For laying sod this did not even get done because on Saturday the day they were to install the sod it was raining. The owner re-scheduled to Sunday due to the rain. On Sunday he gave me a text message in the late morning and said that it was too cold to come out, it was 70 degrees and sunny. I ended up calling up another company to come lay the sod that same day and had no issue. For the lightning issues we had with them their 'Master electrician' had installed our lights. I will attach two pictures so you can see how they install an outdoor light and not use any kind of caulk or foam to seal from water entering the box and creating a short. I had to spend 2 hours of my own time digging up the boxes they installed and caulking them. So, I realize I wrote a review about a year ago and thought it might be worthwhile to throw in my 2 cents one more time, after a year's worth of experience with these folks. All I said before is true, and then some. I'm not sure what the negative review was about, b/c quite honestly I wouldve spent more $ with these guys for some tree trimming but Mikel steered me away from it due to it not being a healthy time of year to trim trees. Mikel and Darryn are amazing! We have a system installed by a previous homeowner which has all sorts of quirks. Whereas other contractors either wouldn't work with it at all and/or told us we needed a very costly new system, Mikel and Darryn were able to get our existing system running great at a fraction of the cost. Moreover, when we had a problem with the system shortly before leaving the country for several months, they fit us in on extremely short notice and -- when the problem was more extensive that we had anticipated - worked tirelessly after hours to get the work done. We will never forget how they saved the day! Mikel and Darryn truly go above and beyond professionally (and are also just super nice people) and we are so fortunate to have them. read more

I have to say, they did a very good job and they were quick about it. I contacted Green Tree through Angie's List. For $50 they sent a service man to conduct and overview and assessment of what I needed as far as my lawn sprinkler system. My system is nearly 30 years old and had not been updated in years. They were quick to schedule an appointment and were here at about the appointed time. They found a number of sprinkler heads were broken or misaligned and two lines with leaks. They scheduled a follow-up call and Matthew Tait came out. He was not the original assessment guy. But he had all the information about what needed to be repaired and/or replaced. It took him 2 hours to adjust and replace the heads. Now, everything is running as it should! I'm very pleased. With the cost of Angie's list, the total was $400.00. That's not bad considering it has been nearly 10 years since I had the system updated. Overall I'm pleased and the sprinkler system should give me another 5 to 10 years of effective use. read more

We recently purchased a rental house in Central Austin and hired Green Tree Professional, LLC to install a new in-ground irrigation system. Brothers Mikel & Darynn Eggert did the work and it is fantastic - we are super pleased. The yard was a bit tricky because of a neighbor's encroaching bamboo plants and some walkways on the property. These guys, who are both Texas-certified Irrigators, came up with a plan of six zones. It is a beautiful thing to watch the variety of sprinklers they installed. Not only are these guys smart on irrigation systems, but they are knowledgeable on trees, gardening, soils and landscapes. They helped us out with ideas on landscape design as well. We will certainly use them again and will recommend them to our friends. read more

We had a leak in our sprinkler system and call these guys for help. They were able to come out right away to help us turn off the valve and returned a few days later to do the repair. We dealt with both Mikel and Daryn at different times and both were very responsive and personable. They completed the work under budget and told us about requesting a refund (unfortunately a small percentage of the water that leaked) from the city. We will call them again if we need sprinkler help. read more

We hired Green Tree Professionals to replace the backflow device on our sprinkler system and repair a line break in 2013. They had to get a permit from the City of Austin to do the backflow preventer. They never closed the permit, it expired. I found the expired permit by doing a search on our property. I called Green Tree, and spoke to Mikel who claims they never did the work on our property and they have no record of it. Yet they are the contractor on the permit with the City. After our conversation, Mikel called the city to take their name off the permit, which the city did, took them off. I called Mikel again, when I saw there was activity on the permit, hoping he would be in the process of coming out to fix what failed initially and close this permit. Mikel stated, no he merely called the city to take his name off the permit because Green Tree had no record of any work on our property. Since then I have found our receipt for the work and it was Green Tree Professionals, LLC who did the work in August 2013. I have since left multiple messages for Mikel on his cell phone and business phone, with no response. Now we are just trying and trying to get a hold of Green Tree to get this problem resolved. They are backing out of their obligation to legally close a permit they opened! Last contacted them 11/16/16. They won't return my calls any longer. All that we are asking is that they complete what they started and they won't. Not very professional at all. read more
