I've been using Affordable Lawn Care for about five years now. I have two rental properties and I like to keep their appearance up. In general, I am happy with the results. They come out about evert two weeks in the spring and early summer and less often in the winter as well as dormant times in the late dry summers. My only complaint has been their use of a weed eater to trim bushes. It spew bush material all over the house walls and windows. However, once I mentioned that, they changed their method, so I don't ding them for that. Overall, I consider them honest and reliable. I would recommend. read more

At noon on a Thursday, we called Affordable Lawn Maintenance (ALM) to see if we could get some help with our overgrown acre lot. The recent rains had our weeds sprouting up like, well, you know, and being busy professionals ourselves, we just didn't have the time to keep up with it. The by-phone estimate for 43,560 square feet of yard was $100. Within 2 hours of our call, a team of 3 fully equipped lawn ninjas were relayed to our property. Due to the deplorable condition of our yard (lots of 2 foot high weeds - yikes- plus a huge hill to mow & weed-eat), the estimate grew to $175, which we were happy to pay to get the yard back under control. Within 90 minutes after *that*, our huge yard had been completely transformed: all grass cut to golf course specs, 200 ft concrete driveway edged, weed-eating done around 20+ trees and the pool fence, steep hillside trimmed perfectly, cuttings mulched back into the lawn. Holy cow! I am impressed. Your experience may vary, but we were lucky to call on the day for which ALM happened to be in our part of town, so we received same day service. What a relief to find a lawn service that is so prompt, thorough, and reliable. Our neighbors will be happy to know that we will now be on the regular biweekly rotation for ALM. read more

Contacted this company about a month ago for an estimate and was initially quoted a price of 45 bucks because our lawn is small. Price was quoted without a visit from Mike, yet he told us he was going to "drop by" and take a look. He was a no-show, so I called and asked if he was coming by. No answer. A couple days later he called and gave me the 45 dollar quote. I said fine and accepted. He then told me he was going to drop by and have a look. So I waited for him outside. When he showed up, I walked him around the yard and showed him what we expected (grass mowed, debris blown and collected, leaves removed as needed). Mike asked me how long I thought it would take to knock out my lawn work. The old company used 3 guys and were gone in 20 minutes, so I told him that. After looking at our back yard, Mike complained that it was "busy" with landscaping and trees so he would have to "adjust" the estimate. I asked him about leaf removal and was quoted an initial price of 8 dollars a bag. This was also increased to 10 dollars a bag and later to 12 bucks a bag when Mike went back to the "busy landscaping" excuse and that there was no place for his crew to blow the leaves for collection. Pure garbage as an excuse since the previous company removed leaves weekly and never stayed beyond 25 minutes even in the Fall when our oaks and elms drop their load. So, with the "busy" landscaping our lawn mow/blow was increased to 60 dollars initially (which I was fine with since it was still cheaper than my previous crew) then dropped to 50 dollars after the work time requirement was set at 25 minutes. All was good until this week when Mike unceremoniously texted me to inform me that they would no longer be maintaining my yard. His excuse? Too much work in our "area" and "Last to gain, first to lose" . LOL! I had him coming every 2 weeks and gave him extra work like weed and feed etc. His crew is great which is why this is not a one star review. Mike? Not so much. Avoid. read more

Every time I would get a bill after a mowing, it would always be significantly higher than what we had agreed on as the price. He would bill me for junk that should have been covered in the basic fee for service. The last time I let him cut, we agreed on $60, and he charged me $150, saying that there were items not covered by the basic bill. This guy is a cheat and a thief. read more

A trusted friend gave this poor excuse for a lawn care company a 5-star review, so I called them in July to set up service. The guy who had mowed my lawns for nearly a decade randomly decided he didn't want me as a customer anymore. I was left in the lurch with grass growing faster than your Aunt Ida's fat ass. I was desperate. Called this place, told Mike my lawns were overgrown, and he quoted me a price of $45. Fine. No problem. The day comes for them to mow, I'm sitting at Hideout Pub, and Mike calls and gives me some bullshit about the grass being longer than he thought. Yeah, maybe that's because it took you, like, five extra days to get over here. And then there was some other bullshit about, "Our standard mower won't fit through your gate, so we have to use a smaller mower that'll cost you more." Except the last guy who mowed my back yard was able to go through the gate with a big-ass riding mower. It cost me more than double the quoted price. $96, to be exact. I felt I had no choice but to pay it. So then I found Got Mow. For nearly a third of the price I paid "Affordable", they come out every two weeks and take great care of my yards. No bullshit extra charges. read more

Michael and his team do great work at a very reasonable price. Jeanne, Michael's wife, communicates clearly with respect to scheduling, charges, etc. Our yard looks great, and the crews are always responsive to special requests. And, Michael and his crew members work incredibly hard, despite the ups and downs of Central Texas weather. Also, if Michael shows up for service and decides that the lawn doesn't need to be mowed, he simply skips the service to save money for the customer. Great company!! read more

I used this service for the past year.... first couple visits were five star! Then things went downhill. Like many others I was quoted $65 and regularly billed for $119 and as high as $135. Some explanations for charge was "excess growth" - this was a after they forgot to schedule me and I called them to see when they were coming out. My yard had 5 days of extra growth due to THIER mistake... and they charged ME! Beware- leaves cost more, and they charge your card prior to advising of the cost. I used Affordable Lawn Care for five years to maintain my corner lot, including shrub and bush maintenance. They were always timely, quick, and tidy. They never mowed if the lawn didn't need it, and would come back more frequently during the period after rain when the lawn would grow so quickly. Mike at Affordable Lawns is easy to work with. He has serviced a rental property for me some years ago, and now my home. The best thing about his service is that they are honest. I remember once he told me that the lawn at my rental property didn't need mowing, so he skipped it that time. Wow. What a difference from other companies I have used that charged me for a mow of bare dirt. His team of workers are fast and do a good job, and at very reasonable rate. We've used Affordable Lawn care for the past few years and have always had positive experiences with them. Mike is friendly and the crew is efficient, and their prices can't be beat. They are great about sending out reminders as to when we are on the schedule and are also very flexible about how often we need them to come mow so we are not locked into a certain weekly schedule, which saves us money. When they can't come due to rain they always make up the mow within a day or two, and during the colder months offer raking/bagging of leaves as well as gutter clean out at a very affordable price as well. Trying to be fair with this review. Our yard was REALLY overgrown, TONS of leaves, and an overall BIG mess. It was Monday and I needed it cleaned by Saturday for a party. ALM was one of the only companies that could come out the same week. The work that they did was good considering how much there was of it. HOWEVER....they were late for the estimate. Then they were late for the appt the next day and had to reschedule. Then the person that I had walked through the work to be done wasn't there so they ended up cleaning areas that I hadn't requested and not taking down a shrub that I had requested. Again, to be fair, the total was slightly over the initial quote and they honored the original amount. I then mentioned the bush they missed. The guy said he could come Friday to remove it. He never showed. He then showed up Saturday in the middle of my party to remove it. Finally, they left their mulcher plate in the middle of the yard and I had some kids trip on it. I didn't know what it was so I picked it up and moved it out of the way. 3 days later they text me at 7am asking if they had left it and if they could come get it and to reply back ASAP. I said yes they had, that a child had been hurt on it, and told them where they could find it in my backyard. No apologies for leaving it, no apologies for the injury, and no apologies for the 7am text message. So if I'm in a bind again, I might consider using them. Their work was quick and decent. But I would certainly be more prepared for the customer service I will receive (or lack there of). read more

Mike doesn't put you on a contract, because he would never live up to it. He shows up when he wants to and then charges you double when he shows up and sees that it's over grown. He literally put his mower on the highest setting, mowed my lawn leaving the grass 5" high (ya, I measured it), and said that if I wanted it cut any shorter then I could have him come out the following week, pay an extra $30 and he would mow it down the rest of the way. Not only did he do this, but he missed spots, so some of it is much higher. My back yard literally resembles what it looks like when a child cuts his own hair for the first time. I told him that I was not happy with his work and he took my money and walked away. read more
