I approached the counter after 50 minutes (place only had customers at 3 tables) and was told "just a few more minutes". At 1 hr exactly, our food came out and my quesadilla had a long hair on it. This is one of my favorite places to go eat with friends. I love their milk teas and poke bowls. The food has generally been good and the teas are great. I can't speak about the desserts but the gelato is decent. The only problem I have with the place is the service isn't great. The counter is slow and not very friendly. The wait for food used to be long but it's gotten better. I don't think many people work in the kitchen. It's great stop though and I'd recommend it as long as you have time to spare. I'd been looking forward to trying this place out and I thought it would be a good treat for my daughter for being a good sport about going holiday craft shopping with her boring old mom. We were both sadly disappointed. The woman who took our order was not very friendly (not rude, just...off...like, after she swiped my card and I signed the pad, she literally just turned around and walked away and I stood there for a minute because I wasn't sure the transaction was done. They were out of both the things we had wanted to order (all ramen dishes, and the house nachos that were on the board) so we got the Manager's Bowl and alien og sushirito instead. We waited more 30 minutes for our food even though we went in before 5 pm and there were only a few other customers there when we went in. The Manger's Bowl was ok--the pork belly was tasty. But the kimchi was made with vinegar and didn't have that authentic fermented kimchi smell. The alien OG roll was supposed to have marinated Korean beef, avocado, red peppers, roasted corn, cheese, and unagi sauce, but it had no cheese, literally one kernel of corn, and if there was any unagi sauce in there I couldn't detect it. I was expecting the beef to be bulgogi-style beef but it was just plain stir-fried sliced sirloin that didn't have the taste or tenderness of bulgogi. Finally, I went up and asked for "a couple of water glasses" midway through our meal (because I only realized after other patrons were serving themselves water that the did have water as the only beverage besides tea) and the woman at the register handed me one glass and talked away and I had to shout at her that I had asked for two). I get that it's "fusion" and so it's not like I was expecting authentic traditional Korean dishes. But that's no excuse for bad kimchi or flavorless bulgogi, nor is the fact that it's in Shepherdstown. read more

We were in town for a race and I was trying to find a pre-marathon dinner that wouldn't make me regret my life's decisions. The Green Pineapple had a decent sweet potato noodle, but they had a tastier sounding option on the wall menu that they said they no longer offer. I kind of feel like maybe a post it not on the wall to at least denote that fact would have been nice, but I digress. My kids both had the grilled cheese (it comes with bacon and Kimchi) one kid had it with bacon and no Kimchi and one just had it with cheese. Out of tuna, out of Ramen, out of cheese steak? Out of wasabi... substituted steak and chicken in the bowls and the sushirito (just a burrito now?) and got Korean steak tacos. The bowls didn't have any of the sauce the taco had no kimchi and everything took forever to make. My daughters loved their chicken and my wife said the tacos were very good, but my steak bowl was horrible. The bubble tea is good. I still tipped 20% because of COVID and all. I was anticipating the opening of a bubble tea place in Shepherdstown for ages. Once it opened, it definitely has a trendy, college town atmosphere with young and friendly staff. However, the bubble tea is absolutely overpriced and did not exceed my expectations. The milk tea is super chalky and at times overly sweet. The snow cream was slightly decent. But my ultimate beef with this place is the price. In the beginning, a simple milk tea came out to almost $6 but then they dropped the price to about $4. This is still considered pretty expensive. Most places sell bubble tea for $2-$3, but $4 is an absurd price for bubble tea. Despite the staff being friendly, the service is really really slow. Either they are understaffed or they need to come up with a more efficient way for service. I went here often in the first few months of them opening only to satisfy my craving for bubble tea, but I doubt I'll go back there again. read more

Not ashamed to say that since finding this place we've been back several times in the same week. Never let down. Got to try their foray into a food menu this Sunday and they did not disappoint. We had a bulgogi taco (bulgogi beef, kimchi slaw, house sauce & queso fresco) and each got a sushi-rito. He had the salmon (smoked salmon, asparagus and a dill sauce). I had the spider (imitation crab, tempura, spinach & house sauce). All was excellent. I was surprised by the queso fresco on the taco and dubious of how cheese would work with an Asian taco. Surprisingly it worked well. The kimchi had unexpected heat that was just right, not too much or too little. Beef was well cooked and moist. I only got one bite that was slightly on the tougher side that I couldn't easily bite through rather than pulling from the taco. I would definitely order this again though. The sushi-ritos (sushi burritos) are basically a sushi roll sliced into two 3.5 inch halves then wrapped in foil rather than into the typical 8 sushi roll pieces. Fish/veggie/sauce filling wrapped in rice and a seaweed wrapper. They were skinnier than I had expected with the burrito name (if you've seen/had sushi burrito elsewhere, you've probably seen much larger - burrito-ish rolls). That being said, they were delicious and as far as size they were perfectly filling. (I've had not great big sushi-ritos in past that seemed like they had every sushi ingredient in them...it can just blend to a mush. Bigger isn't always better). The salmon with the dill sauce was perfect, and the asparagus was cooked but still had the perfect amount of crunch to add texture. The spider was great as well although it was more overall great and had less individualized flavors, more of a blend. Equally good though. A down side to the sushi-ritos was the individual soy sauce packet that came with. Cheap brand that is basically salt water with brown food coloring. Would spring for an authentic soy sauce. Would also recommend pickled ginger & wasabi as sides. Or maybe sauce versions as optional sides? Needs something though. We also got the kimchi quesadilla to-go for my sister and she raved about it. The kimchi really was excellent. A real standout both on the tacos and in the quesadilla. We saw bibim bap come out as well as the veggie roll, and pork sliders. Everything looked and smelled great. Staff was eager and friendly. Clearly prepared for the first day serving food. They were patient with questions, explained all of the dishes if asked, and maintained the balance of friendly and professional perfectly. Great addition to the area and worth going out of your way for. All in all their trial foray into food was a success in my humble opinion. Terribly slow service and no dine in. Usually a huge fan of this place but COVID has of course ruined another great place with now with sub par experience. Had to wait 40 minutes to get my food compared to the normal 10. There is no excuse, this pandemic has not altered your ability to prepare and serve food to the point it adds 30 minutes to my normal wait time. To top it off they can't even serve your food in bowls for their outside seating. I dont even know if I got the extra beef I ordered, but it looked like I did not. Portion sizes are now smaller for take out as well. What a shame.... read more

Have to give this place four stars for a place in West Virginia they are bringing bubble tea to an area didn't know what bubble tea was. the tea was good the selection and variety was overwhelming the staff was slightly knowledgeable but the owner was there to help. Suggestion I would have to the owner is to reduce the amount of selection and add more items like Thai iced tea onto the menu. Furthermore place up some pictures of the food that is offered at your restaurant. Overall the staff seemed to slowly get to know the menu and was slow on making the drinks., But was worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and patient, especially if you're not quite sure what bubble tea is or what you want. Everything I've tried has been delicious--both various combinations of drinks as well as their food. My personal favorites/recommendation would be the milk-based strawberry drink with regular boba and the popping yogurt bobas, along with the spider sushirito. You won't be disappointed. The only downside I can think of--and it's being knit-picky--is that the service is on the slow side. However, this is a new business and as far I know, they only have one chef. Other than that, it's a wonderful place! I go there frequently. read more

Been here a few times since they opened. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. I had had bubble tea in the past and wasn't a fan, mostly because I had no idea what I was getting so I was blindly ordering things hoping I would like it. At The Green Pineapple the service was great and we were walked through our order (they picked up on us being new to bubble tea). They were very patient and understanding and very willing to explain everything. After our crash course on bubble tea it's been much easier and much more enjoyable. I haven't had anything that I wouldn't order again or recommend to someone. They also recently started serving food and everything I've had has been fantastic. Great fit for shepherdstown. Sushi-ritos, Korean BBQ tacos, bubble tea and snow cream. What isn't there to like. Would recommend and will continue going back. read more

I really enjoyed this modern day Asian fusion restaurant. Staff welcomed us when we came in and created a great atmosphere. the food was boss. Kimchi had a very fresh texture, I loved the salmon sushirito (the dill mayo rocked) and even the broccoli side was excellent. All in all, great atmosphere, great food, great price. read more

They have a good variety of Asian-inspired food that is unique from anything else you can get in Shepherdstown. They also offer gelato and Açaí bowls. The only dish I've ever gotten is the Japchae noodles, but they are always delicious. One of these days I'll try the vegan ramen. I've gone with people who've gotten the quesadillas, sushi-rittos, etc. to rave reviews. I'm taking off one star because there isn't much seating and the menu changes occasionally without much warning. But if you're looking for some unique, tasty food that's reasonably priced, this is a great place to go. read more

I usually do not write bad reviews on any restaurants. Todays experience on the other hand has brought me to the conclusion that I will not be returning until the nasty employee, KELSEY, is fired. First off, I ordered a drink and it was given to me spilling on me and was not properly cleaned off my cup. Second we received very rude comments as we ordered about how my friend did not order her drink at the same time as me so she could make the drinks at the same time even though we had different orders. Also, I DO NOT appreciate my food being slammed on the table in front of me with soggy noodles that were dreadful and overcooked. Along with the nasty looks we received while try to enjoy our horrid meal. I was also well aware that she spoke nasty things about us from another coworker that I am very close with there. She left very rude remarks that I do not appreciate and are very private. On the other hand I would like to say I have always received amazing service from Becca Jenkins. She is attentive and always provides great service with a smile. Every time I have went in there she has been very quick with service and never made a mistake with any of my orders. Until this girl is fired I will not be returning. I will also tell others about this horrible employee and her service. Thank you. read more

This place seems like an interesting concept; not really my cup of tea (no pun intended) but my daughter loves the milk tea and other beverages so we stop in every so often. My issue with this place is primarily with the atmosphere. Boxes of Christmas decorations left by the front door....more boxes of supplies left stacked along the wall on the customer side of the counter....over flowing trash cans....doesn't make for a particularly inviting setting. The same is true for the area behind the counter...the whole area looks messy. Further, most drinks and food there require the use of a straw and utensils but they don't bring them with the drinks or food...you have to get up and get them from the window sill. My daughter liked her California Seoul Roll...but I had the 3 taco and the only "flavor" I could taste was hot. All in all, not someplace I'm going to be in a hurry to go back to. I think this place has some potential. but I think they need to put some work into making the experience of "being there" a better one. read more
