I ordered shrimp egg foo young and unfortunately I was barely able to identify the eggs in this dish. Eggs are no longer expensive so I don't understand why there is a lack of eggs in a predominantly egg dish. It's hardly edible. I had high hopes seeing the all the foot traffic on a Friday afternoon. Initial experience: Enjoyed the food; asked for a minor substitution, and no resistance or extra charge; will return for the chicken curry. Last experience: For lunch platter, they refused to let me substitute some extra rice for soup/egg roll; to make it clear, I didn't want the soup or egg roll. The story was that my first experience was a one time thing. They did the right, decent thing the first time, and for some strange reason, it couldn't be repeated?!? Manager was expressionless and couldn't even communicate with me - a total lack of concern, reason or learning. I doubt that a little extra rice even costs them more; but even if it does, all she could see was the extra nickel or dime. Friends and I would've bought a lot of food there - and so might have other people who are seeing this review. I hope the ownership will read this review, and realize that she's a poor representative, assuming the ownership has any vision and sense of fairness. The restaurant is conveniently located next to the grocery store, gas station and more; it's a good location. The food was excellent we had 2 different sushi, edamame and hot & sour soup. All of the food was very good well made and in a timely manner. The service was spot on, quick and attentive. The ambiance is good not a lot to it but very neat and clean. Food was all tasty breaded chicken-not crispy beef originally ordered and General Tzao's Chicken with Lo Mein noodles was alright- no bugs found in it on arrival or second day, Chicken not so crispy as I have eaten in the past elsewhere.Chinese White Rice was good. Red lantern is a good place to go for decent Chinese food. The prices are extremely good and the servings are generous. My favorite is the sushi deal in which you can get 3 different kinds for 10$. It's a great deal but remember you do get what you pay for. While it's not the best sushi I ever had nor is it unique, it is very filling and decent sushi for the price. I like going here for a casual lunch and will continue. On the customer service aspect, they get the job done but don't expect a full blown conversation, they are more work oriented. read more

We live half mile from here and we frequently order take out. The sushi is very good. Our favorite is the honada, it is full of flavor and always cooked to perfection. They also have the 3/$9 selections. I love the aac, Boston, and shrimp tempura rolls. Their spicy mayo is the best, always has the perfect amount of heat. I have eaten here several times now. The food is always very good and well presented. In fact the presentation and flavor is outstanding. The fried rice is the best in town. The prices are very reasonable. The service could use a little work since you can wait a while for a refill at times. I've loved this place for years, but lately something has changed. The food isn't as good, and I'm considering not going back.

Good sushi, but waited 45 minutes for two rolls to go. That seems like a real problem.

When you see a typical looking Chinese restaurant connected to a grocery store in West Virginia you don't expect much, however I was pleasantly surprised by the Red Lantern. Once inside it looks much different than the outside (in a good way). I've eaten here about 3 times now and everything I've gotten has been great. On top of that the sushi (one roll in particular) was fantastic. The Sweet Girl roll which is on the online menu but not on the menu when you dine in is one of the better rolls I've ever eaten. Nice atmosphere nice food, would recommend trying if you enjoy Asian cuisine and sushi. read more
