I like that they are open early (7am) on a Sunday morning for a delicious and inexpensive breakfast. The restaurant was clean and the menu was laminated on both sides which was also clean. Service was pretty quick as when we arrived there was only 1 server on until the second came in at 8am when the place started to fill up more. There was no wait because the kitchen was pretty quick to get the food prepared. I ordered a back and Swiss omelet that was cooked perfectly. A little cheese and bacon in every bite. It come with toast choice only. My husband ordered the egg wrap on a spinach wrap though he had a choice of plain or wholewheat too. It came with a small side of salsa and sour cream. Real sour cream! The coffee was also fresh brewed and they were quick with the refills. This was a terrible experience! I stopped for a 10:30 breakfast hungry and tired from a road trip. The waitress told me to sit down and take a table-I picked a quiet one in the corner-even though it needed to be cleaned. Finally someone came around and she was very curt and argued with me over a simple order; two eggs toast and coffee but she said that they had no skim milk and she brought me No water! So I got up took a cup I had from my car and went to the ladies room to get my own water!crazy. Right! Ok the food comes and the scrambled eggs were not great the toast was drowning in butter and the coffee cup was set by her at the edge of the table! What I saw were about twenty people over the age of 75 who must have been regulars and were treated like gold! Sorry I don't buy this.A customer is a customer! We came in with some friends over the weekend and the restaurant was packed. By the time we sat down and got our food I was hungry. I ordered the corned beef hash and a biscuit and honestly I wouldn't get either again. The corned beef hash was pretty burnt and was barely a scoop. It just looked like a lot because it was spread out. I tried the waffle with fruit and it was a 10/10 and I'd get that next time. Everyone who had eggs really enjoyed them as well. I stopped by on a Tuesday morning before my flight. Service was polite and prompt. It wasn't terribly busy, so the noise level was fine. I ordered a large green owl stacker with scrambled eggs along with an Orange Juice. The stacker consists of a base of biscuits, layered by hash browns, sausage gravy and finally topped with your choice of eggs. The gravy was quite savory, but wasn't as spicy as I remembered. Was bummed when they closed in Delray. This looks exactly like the one on Atlantic Ave. So much so that it was nostalgia. We were on a hunt for breakfast everywhere from IHOP to cracker barrel had an insane wait and let's face it supporting local businesses is so much better. I had a combination platter with eggs, bacon, pancakes and sausage. These are some of the best pancakes ever. They also come in crazy flavors but I just stuck to original. The service was great. My favorite breakfast diner near home (I rate it higher in every category than I do numerous other nearby by diners). The food is typical; not really all that spectacular but it is consistently good. The bacon is always a bit over done for my taste. (I like it with quite a bit of fat still showing). My over-easy eggs never have any uncooked egg and occasionally have a wonderful crisp edge. They have never been served medium...yuck! The must order item on the menu is the French Toast with cinnamon and powdered sugar! Also, the country fried steak and Rueben sandwich are ample portions and consistently delicious. I definitely rate the aforementioned "go to" items above average. The staff is very friendly and attentive. My coffee cup is never cold or empty (I will occasionally stop in just for the coffee which always tastes good). If you go to the Green Owl more than twice and they may even remember your name! Very nice. It will occasionally be quite busy with only one server (there are usually two), in which case it understandably becomes more difficult to "connect" with the server. The decor and ambiance is what you would expect from a true diner. It is simple with owls of all sizes and shapes surrounding the dining room. It does not give the feel of a larger restaurant or trendy establishment; it feels like a diner where you can relax and converse with family, friends, or business acquaintances for as long as you need over a consistently good meal and cup of coffee! This place definitely have their regulars. The wait staff seemed to know most by name. Entering at 10:45 for a late breakfast on a Sat. gave me plenty of booths to pick. I sat quickly and ordered before my friend arrived. It literally took about 5 mins from order to table. I ordered the biggest combo they had because I was starving. Eggs were cooked exactly like I ordered then, over easy. Bacon strips were crispy and flat. Hashbrowns were crunchy. The only food item that seemed under cooked were the pancakes. They were huge, but tasted pasty. The texture wasn't right. My friend had the same problem and reordered hers to go. We sat and chatted awhile during our meal. Our waitress wasn't too attentive though. Usually, someone would stop by and top off your coffee and take away plates as you finished. That didn't really happen here. I didn't really mind as I was busy catching up with my friend. However, my friend had to ask someone to get our waitress to return her pancakes and later get more coffee. They had a good variety but I chose a basic bacon and cheese omelette. It did not disappoint. The portion was huge and it was definitely enough to split between two people. It definitely seems to be a local type spot, and everybody seem to know everybody. I really enjoyed my food and so did my fiancé. This is not in relation to the green owl in Delray though. Disappointing after someone at work recommended this place and reading the google reviews. There was 5 people in the diner when I arrived. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelet with a side of hash browns, rye toast and coffee. After waiting 25 minutes got rye toast and omelet but no hash browns. Waitress took back the food and after additional 5 minutes or so, brought back my breakfast. Apparently the omelet was made without bacon, so they remade the omelet with bacon but the bacon was under cooked and uneatable. Picked the under cooked bacon out of the omelet - even the waitress commented that they could have cooked the bacon more. She didn't charge me for the coffee in her way of making up for such a terrible breakfast. Tables who arrived after I did received their food before I did. Great food. My boyfriend advise me of this hidden small but inviting restaurant for breakfast. I decided to try it and the French toast was delicious with cinnamon and powdered sugar. Normally there's a line outside waiting to get seated, only time there is little or no wait is during the off season months, otherwise be prepared to wait up to 1 hour here especially on weekends. There is about 15 tables with booths alongside the walls and a pretty decent sized breakfast bar in the middle. TVs are mounted on both walls so it's easy to see if you want to catch the weather or news that normally is playing here. There are owls everywhere here all different shapes colors and sized. The food is very cheap and portions are generous. I usually order the bkfst specials here which include eggs, bacon or sausage and toast or French toast. Coffee is above average here. No brown sugar at tables and they will bring you milk if you ask otherwise they'll just give the half & half containers. Service is good and friendly. They check on your often and accommodate special requests. Credit cards are excepted except Amex here. I wish there was less wait time, otherwise it's a solid breakfast spot all around. read more
