Their staff is kind and very thorough. During the most recent snow storm the were unable to come at the booked scheduling time and texted me and were able to reschedule the following day. I'm dealing with that, but if this isn't a red flag I'm not sure what is. My experience has been that the quality of service really depends on the crew they send. A few of them were great, and one in particular was dreadful. Every time that particular crew came there was an issue; they either missed something, broke something, didn't put things back at all. Despite my pleas to not send them again they did anyway. Also, I feel that the customer service and punctuality has gradually declined. Twice last year I was contacted day of the cleaning telling me there was a scheduling issue and that they would have to arrive much earlier or later than agreed to. This is irritating in and of itself, but more so because they will be quick to charge you a fee if you cancel within 24 hrs of the appointment. On that note, we don't do business with them anymore because last month they simply didn't show up. I contacted support and first it was "they are running late" and will be there at 6pm (it was a 2pm - 4pm window IIRC). Then, 6:30 rolls around and I contact them again and they ask me to reschedule. I pulled a bunch of quotes before deciding on Green Maid Cleaning to service my apartment. I have the biweekly plan, which is a good value. They always sent a group of three cleaners who triage everything in the apartment, and they are SO fast yet thorough! While the cleaning is rated for four hours, they typically finish in an hour to an hour and a half. I almost want them to slow down so it seems I'm getting more for the time (LOL I guess I shouldn't ask anyone to be less good at their job), but they have consistently done a perfect job. They even fold all the hand towels hotel style and vacuum the furniture. They also scrub down the shower walls and that's included in the service, which I love because I hate scrubbing walls! Fast. Tl;dr. They do a fair job cleaning but have become less punctual. The cleaners they send are pleasant and honest (they've found money and leave it on a counter or table or hand it to me immediately). I've had better cleaners and I've had far worse. Cleaning: For the most part they do a decent job of cleaning. They miss a few spots of drips on the floor while mopping and occasionally miss a spot while wiping down the faucet or refrigerator door handles. But everything else is pretty clean. Dependability: At first they showed up on time, at the beginning of the scheduled cleaning window. Each visit they get later and later. For example, they're supposed to be here from 9-10am today. It's now 9:45 and nobody has showed up yet. It's the week between Christmas and New Years, so maybe they're closed. But they sent me a text reminder saying they'd be here. Luckily I work from home so being late isn't normally a problem but I have some morning errands today. read more

I have been using Green Maid Cleaning Services for a few months and had been very happy with them. Unfortunately during my last cleaning, my new coffee table got seriously scratched. I suspect the cleaner moved a tray across the top of it, which caused the large scratch, which damaged the table. When I raised this with customer service they only replied that they use soft rags that couldn't scratch the surface. I've contacted them multiple times over the last several weeks since, and they have been almost completely unresponsive. I'm deeply disappointed. I understand that accidents happen, and all I was looking for was an acknowledgement and something to help make up for the damage caused to my new table. We have liked our previous cleaning crew but last time there seemed to be some disagreement between the manager and her staff over how much work should be done so I asked around for high ranked cleaning services for quotes, and Green Maid seemed both the most reputable and affordable. It was arranged for them to come today we couldn't be any more impressed. A They arrived just shortly after the window and stayed just over 2 hours. Compared to two others I have used which we felt were good they went an extra mile over and cleaned and dusted our furniture to make it look as good as new. They moved some stuff around and let me know so some of the messier dressers/bureaus are not so noticeable in the bedroom. I will book again for two weeks and continue with a biweekly cleaning which is very beneficial since neither my fiancé or I are good at cleaning and I am still recovering from a surgery this past spring. This used to be a reliable service that I've used monthly for 2-3 years. However, in recent months the scheduling has become much harder and the teams consistently late. Numerous times I altered my schedule to accomodate them but found myself waiting hours or being reschduled at the last minute with very poor communication. This past week the scheduler/coordinator has not checked text messages, email or answered the phone, making it impossible to connect or inquire about arrival times. I cannot use a service that is managed this way. It's a shame that due to the poor scheduling, coordination and communication, those dedicated teams will have one fewer household to work in. Given the great experience I had with Green Maid Cleaning Service this weekend, I am a little surprised that the most recent reviews here are poor, but I guess it's true that people only tend to post reviews if they have a really good or bad experience. That in mind, my experience was definitely a positive one. I was really impressed by the service I received- there were 4 cleaners sent to do our 3 bedroom, 2 bath + basement apartment home. First off, our window was 11-1, and they arrived promptly at 11:30 and immediately got started. They worked nonstop until about 2:30-3 and really did an incredible job- the house was properly, professionally cleaned. The kitchen has seen some ware over the last year, specifically the stove and floors, and they did a remarkable job getting the grime and dirt off of those surfaces. I really appreciate that the company charges by room/room type too rather than hour and I think the total cost of the job was well worth it, especially for the going rates in DC. I have used competitor companies in the past who no-showed, last minute rescheduled, and did a mediocre job... and charged roughly the same cost, if not more. I received multiple reminder emails the week leading up to the appointment time, which I also thought was a helpful feature of their service. Of note, the crew that came was really respectful of our space and items, especially some of the more fragile pieces we have. I have already recommended this service to friends since our appointment and plan to use them again in the future! read more

Terrible service. I booked move-in clean service with extra clean of refrigerator of my rental condo in downtown DC. However, the tenant told me there is no sign that someone did clean at all. I knew that they did come as they used concierge service to get in the condo. I knew what tenant said is true because photos are taken after they came. I love that green maids has a smooth online scheduling software where you can tell them to do something differently, or to skip a certain area, or add a deep clean area to a specific cleaning. Their teams are thorough and careful, and in the rare event that they believe they may have damaged something, they tell me right away and offer to cover the cost of the damaged item. I have a dust mite allergy that causes hives and asthma with prolonged exposure, making dusting and cleaning more difficult for me than most. When green maids comes, my symptoms are immediately better, so I know they're doing a good job keeping the population of dust mites down! read more

I lightly clean between appointments; their regular services are so helpful and a treat. I selected GMCS after reading a number of yelp reviews and sending out for quotes - selected for best value & recommendations. The team is always efficient and fast, usually about 2-4 people show up making the cleaning finish quickly. They always fold all linens & paper items like a spa; and make the bed in a hotel-like fashion. They have an easy booking system, send frequent reminders (email & text), and have also been flexible to schedule changes if needed. If timing is a concern for you, I recommend an earlier appointment. I'm understanding to the fact that traffic and parking can back up a full day of appointments, so when they have arrived later than my appointment time, I have not minded. I'm busy and was happy to get all the pricing and schedule without waiting for someone to get back to me with a quote. I picked a time that worked for me but I was flexible. The day of the cleaning, they confirmed a new time (same morning but a couple hours later) but it also worked for me. I live in an apartment so it was just one cleaner. She was so good! Very thorough. My apartment is immaculate. She was courteous and very professional. I mean professional professional. GOOD: Cleaners always showed up within the reservation time window BAD: Subpar cleaning - everything was covered but very cursorily; the floors would be mopped, but if there was something sticky on it (for example) it wouldn't be taken care of. Hair on the bathroom floors was often left there. Cleaning times are scheduled for 4 hours for one person or 2 hours for two people - two people always came, but they stayed less than the allotted window. I do not recommend green maids. Beware. Quality is poor, communication is poor, and customer service is very, very bad. They damaged my dresser during a cleaning, have still failed to take action after weeks, and have left me with repair costs. We had a good cleaning experience the first time we used green maids, but the second time the cleaner scratched our new dresser very badly--very long and deep scratches. I reached out to customer support hoping they would help us repair our dresser or do something. I could not get ahold of anyone by phone, so sent a message. Al at customer support responded at first and said he would review our account, see what maids were assigned to clean, and get back to us. Over 2 weeks later, no response. It seems when things go right, the company takes all the credit. When things go wrong, they hide behind their cleaners, making for a poor customer experience. Failure to take responsibility was particularly frustrating. In the end, the damage was likely due to being rushed. Green maids focuses on efficiency over quality. The company just churns through cleanings, without consequence if something goes wrong. If you are not happy with that, they know that in this city, there is a new customer who will replace you.
