This little hole in the wall Chinese takeout place is something you'd miss if you weren't looking closely. One of the things that stood out to me is how clean the restaurant is. You're greeted by a sweet lady that knows the ins and outs of her menu. I saw here greeting guests and repeat customers as if they were family! Felt homey and definitely appreciate that aspect as I looked through the menu. I decided to get my usual, General Tso's chicken and subbed the fried rice for beef lo mein. Portion size was the perfect amount and was great value for the price. I was also happy with how fresh and hot my food was made to order. Flavoring of the sauce was a bit lighter than I'm used to, but that's just personal preference. I'll definitely be coming back here if I'm in the area and wanting some Chinese food! read more

Me and my family have been coming here since day one. The food used to be fantastic but whatever is going on now is unacceptable. The quality of food has been going down for years and I got the seasame chicken combo today. The sauce isn't as good as it used to be and the chicken is dry on the inside with too much breading. We always do Chinese take out on Sunday and was on wrong side of town to our normal place. It's your typical take out place with all the usual food suspects. Overall the food was ready quickly, store was clean. Food was just OK. Not bad but not great. The hunan chicken was chock full of celery, which I don't eat. Picked it out piece by piece and it filled 1/2 a quart size rice box. Might eat there again but in no rush. read more

Had the Singapore mei fun, it was delicious. Spicy as it should be. The wonton egg drop mix soup was okay, wonton had different taste than it normally does but not terrible. The only complaint is the crab Rangoon... barely any filling, it was mostly dough. The little filling it had was delicious, just wish there were more of it. For fast food delivery Chinese, this place is very consistent and delicious! I order often on Doordash and sometimes go in to pick up the order. The orders are always correct and the food is always good. There's always a good amount of sauce on foods with sauce and not too little and not drowning. I wanted to like this place, because it's so close to home. The interior was clean in appearance, the food was ready in a timely manner, and the lady working there was lovely. This was worth a star. The main reason I was there was for the food, and it was lacking in taste. I ordered the beef with mixed vegetables combo. For the egg roll, the wrapper was tough and the filling was dry. My beef in the entree was tender but tasteless and fatty. It was a lighter color than what I am used to beef being. This seemed to be low quality beef. The fried rice was basic. I was recommended this place by two of my friends and decided on a whim to try it. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a super nice lady. I ordered the General Tso Chicken (extra spicy) lunch special. The lunch special comes with fried rice and a cheese wonton. I also ordered my fiancé the Sesame Chicken lunch special and a side order of cheese wontons. The food was cooked really quick! I only had to wait like 15 minutes after I ordered and everything was ready. Super friendly staff! Cheese wontons were crispy, delicious, and full of cheese and crab. I like how they don't skim on the filling over here like most places and their sweet and sour sauce was just right! The General Tso Chicken was pretty good, but it wasn't spicy at all in my opinion. I'm taking off one star because I literally only had one big piece of broccoli and it wasn't a good piece. Also, the sauce wasn't as spicy as I hoped it would be. However, they gave me a lot of chicken and the sauce was still good despite not being as spicy! It came with a lot of fried rice too which tasted great! I saved some leftovers and heated it back up and the food was still yummy! My fiancé didn't enjoy his Sesame Chicken as much as he thought it was over-salted, but I tasted it and it was fine to me. I stop by Green Lakes for take out often. My favorite dish is Tofu with Broccoli and Shrimp Egg Foo Yong. All the menu items I've tasted have been very good. I usually call to order the Tofu dish as it's not on the menu. Otherwise ordering online is very convenient. You can also pay online or at the store. Samantha is very efficient and when they say 10 minutes for pick up you usually don't have to wait longer than that. You can also eat at the store but seating is very limited. With all the building renovations at this mall the restaurant has moved from next to the Metro Diner to a store front across from Publix. They share the parking lot with Publix and other stores so it is always busy. Be extra careful when getting in & out of the parking lot. I stopped by this restaurant again for a quick meal. They are super fast with the orders. They are currently pick-up only and have a nice little window where you can pay and pick up your food. Just call in for your order and pick up. They aren't rude on the phone either like some other places. I got the beef and brocolli with lo mein. My go to is usually the general Tsos chicken but I decided to not have any fried stuff with breading. The beef and brocolli with noodles were seasoned perfectly. Very great taste and texture. I just ordered Szechuan chicken, it tastes like fish, and has very little brown sauce. I called to complain and receive some type of credit for the next visit since I drive about 26 miles round trip when ordering from this establishment. El, the manager offered me a free egg roll next visit. I told her that was unacceptable since I spent over $22 and she told me that I could drive back before 9:30 pm (currently 7:40) and they would be willing to prepare another dish. I told her that they would lose me as a customer and we order from their quite frequently. She responded, "ok". The most stars in the area for Chinese joints in a 10 mile radius, so with my handy dandy Yelp app in hand I set out to see if it was better. We arrived indecisive and their patience was thick, that was greatly appreciated. Our order: veggies in brown sauce dinner combo with shrimp fried rice and a cheese wonton instead of a egg roll, orange chicken dinner combo and chicken on a stick with fried rice. I went back up to the counter to add a order of cheese wontons and she was already putting them in my bag, COMPLIMENTARY!! Free food always makes my night!!!! Raise your hand if you know all about my Chinese takeout cravings at this point. (Hands raised? Good, now we can move on.) I was ecstatic when we stumbled upon Green Lake Chinese Restaurant on Yelp after a number of tedious errands. I was even more intrigued once I read the reviews, because although a four star rating was slapped on their page, it was a mixed bag from Elites. The [presumed] owner and remainder of the staff were impeccably friendly and rather hilarious. There were a handful of awards on the walls, and of course, those infamous Chinese takeout menu board photographs. The 3 stars comes down to the overall flavor of our dishes, which left a lot to be desired. The Kung Po Chicken was edible, but packed with peanuts. The dish resembled more of a Kung Po Peanut, due to the skimpy portion of chicken. The Pork Fried Rice? I've had better, I've had worse. Ultimately it satisfied the craving. The saving grace were the mega-sized Egg Rolls, which were warm, crisp, and overstuffed with love! Do you not get excited about Egg Rolls like I do??? OK, keep in mind this rating is for fast food Chinese. It is a solid 4/5 stars for its category. Many people would see it as a negative that they don't deliver but it's worth the effort to pick it up. They are really quick when you place your order and your food can be ready in 15 minutes, sometimes less. If you want it ready later in the day, they can make that happen to, just let them know when you will be in. They keep track of your orders by your phone number so always use the same one and once you become a regular they will start hooking you up with extras (egg rolls, extra wontons, etc) We typically order the large wonton egg drop soup, cream cheese wontons, and general tso's chicken. It is enough for four people. It is our Chinese takeout go to and our New Years Day tradition. read more

They recently moved to another spot in the same plaza since they are now directly in front of the Publix. I've eaten here before and enjoyed my meal, just never got around to leaving a review. I walked in and the staff was very friendly and polite, so were the customers. The line was at the door and there were officers waiting for their order so I thought that was a good sign. I ordered chicken and broccoli which is what I test a restaurant on. As you can see from the photo it looks like a lot of food for a lunch special. Well it's not as it seems the chicken and broccoli are sitting on a bed of rice. The food was fresh and hot, broccoli was perfectly cooked and still crunchy. On to the flavor scale of the brown sauce from a 1-10 I'd give this sauce a 6.5. It had the perfect amount if salt but something was missing and I can't put my finger on it. I wanted to try another Chinese restaurant asides from the usual ones I go to on the westside and based on the reviews, I decided on Green Lake Chinese. What's cool is you can order online from their website which is nice; however, it was just as easy for me to pick up the phone and make my order. The website is actually great to know your options, their prices, for special instructions & to get you psyched up for some good Chinese food. It's a nice convenience. :) Like always, I ordered the General Tso's Chicken & an Orange Chicken and they were both delicious! They do offer healthier options, too, but I was in my "sauced up fried chicken" mode. Like other reviewers have said, this is a great place for take-out with very friendly service. The food is fresh and fast! There is ample parking as it is located in the same block of the Publix shopping center, but closer to Roosevelt in the back left hand corner--it's kinda' hidden so you have to look. Tonight was my second time ordering from this establishment. My first time was about a month ago. I wont forget when I couldn't use my debit for a drink, the manager/owner/sweet lady running the joint suggested that since I had tipped her she would just take it out of that. Happy me. When I was in town visiting my girlfriend, I actually had a fairly hard time hunting down a well-reviewed takeout in her area. Green Lake popped up in a few searches on various websites, so I thought I'd give it a try. It seemed that I found just the right place, as they seemed to offer exactly what I needed at a reasonable price. In addition to the price, the food looked and tasted fresh in a way that some Chinese takeout simply doesn't hit. The meat was cut to a fairly uniform size, so we didn't have to hope for the best in downing a few pieces of sesame chicken that looked like abstract art. Beyond that, the food seemed prepared to order, with crisp (and more importantly not soggy!) vegetables. I'll definitely be dropping by Green Lake again in the future. read more
