My apartment building schedules with this company for pest control and somehow it lands on thursdays afternoon. I was the only person in my building that signed up. This was a scheduled visit so I had my roommate call off work to stay home in order to be able to let the person into the apartment. Apparently, the company sent someone to "knocked" on the our door, despite us having a doorbell, then left a note saying they missed us at 12:30. How is it that they would not consider ringing the doorbell if no one responds at their "knock"? It also makes me wonder how much of a "knock" they really did if my roommate did not hear them. I called the company to ask why would they not ring doorbells and they said it's their policy to just knock, not ring doorbells. Is this one way for them to get out of doing their job? Guess next time, I'll put a note saying to please ring doorbell. Keep in mind, the time range they'd appear in my complex is 12-5pm. I called the company at 4:22pm to ask if they can come back, but they told me they were done for the day. read more

Our building has service from this company once a month. The signup list is posted in a public place and the same apartments are on the list month after month. The employee will come and spend 5 minutes spraying or baiting, and, surprise surprise, the infestation doesn't actually go away. And "Green Earth" is all marketing - they use the same sprays and baits that others are using. They are strong and will make you itchy. read more

I just need to drop a line about how wonderful the guys at Green Earth pest control are. I was thinking of renting a second floor prewar apartment, but some friends had warned me that such an apartment was likely to have problems with pests like mice and cockroaches. I got the idea to call a few exterminators and ask their opinions. I reached Kerry from Green Earth. Off the bat I told him that I wasn't a prospective customer and asked for a few minutes of his time to get an opinion on the apartment situation. He ended up spending over 15 minutes on the phone w with me discussing the particulars of the apartment building and advising me, in his opinion, how likely such a place would be to have certain types of infestations. One helpful piece of info he gave me was that all apartments are different -- you could have a 1k studio in a really old building with zero pests and a 40 million dollar luxury apartment with 24/7 maid service that has a huge infestations. He even got into hypotheticals about the exact apartment I was looking at: where it was located, how many units in the building, etc, and advised based on the specs. Then, without my even asking him to, he went a step further and started researching the specific building (by address) to find out its potential history of bedbugs (it had none), his company's history servicing the building (very few and limited visits) and the building's profile on NYC landlord/management databases (this building had very high reviews). Long story short, he told me more about this apartment's hygiene standards than I ever would ever have known to ask or been able to find out on my own. All the info Kerry gave me motivated me to give the apartment another shot. After speaking to multiple tenants who affirmed that they had never seen a bug at the place, i ended up move forward with my lease. As a bonus, Kerry addressed another question for me-- my complaint about carpet beetles at my existing place -- by referring me to HIS COMPETITORS, who offer an amazing all-in-one fumigation service that would allow all my stuff to be fumigated in one go while it's on the moving truck. In short Kerry at Green Earth gave 15 minutes and counting of help to a person who he knew was not going to book any services. At the end he told me that he's in this business for that very reason: to help people. Kerry and the guys at Green Earth are really fantastic. Wow. Amazing service from start to finish yet again. I first used Green Earth services about three years ago when I noticed a lot of roaches in my apartment. Took about a full month until there was little to none left. Fast forward to a month ago, I noticed some in my kitchen area and immediately called them up again. Best customer service from the phone to David in person today. My landlord sucks and I keep getting roaches. Instead of having the useless and strange men who do nothing come again and again, I decided to pay out of pocket to get a professional assessment of where the bugs are coming from as it's not because of anything in my actual home. Picked a date, put down a deposit, David called first day of with ETA, David arrived during the time frame he said he would, and David was fantastic. Being a woman who lives alone I get a lot of creepy men coming into my house being weird when I need to call a plumber, handyman, etc and he was SO respectful and good at his job. He searched through everything thoroughly and answered all my millions of NYC vermin questions. He figured out all the spots where vermin were getting in and gave me a full report. I was then able to have my landlord take care of everything and now I have no more bugs. Good job David and Green Earth! read more

I live in a co-op building in Washington Heights. Green Earth is the exclusive extermination service that our co-op uses and our building is infested with mice and a variety of different roaches. It's a really bad situation and *no one* in my building is happy with the service that we're getting, but that's not why I'm writing this bad review. I'm writing because I had a particularly bad experience with Green Earth after they were hired by my building's management company to do mouse mitigation in my apartment. In short, the service itself was poor and nothing has changed in terms of the infestation in my housing unit - again, poor service is par for the course with these guys and is not why I'm writing. What really upset me is that Green Earth would not divulge any details of what it found in my apartment in terms of mouse activity nor would they divulge what compounds or substances that may have been spread around to mitigate the mouse problem when they were here. The explanation for their secrecy, from three rude people that reply to emails there, is that because the management company itself was the client that hired Green Earth, they believe that they do not have to tell me what pest control treatments were used that day in the apartment that I own. Apparently Green Earth takes its bureaucratic and self-assigned paper work obligations so seriously that they feel that they have an absurd duty to cloak pest control findings and, more importantly, the treatments that Green Earth uses, secret from the residents of housing units that it treats when they are hired by co-op boards or building managers to treat individual housing units. I've got a two year old kid and I just want to know what they may or may not have spread around my apartment and they won't tell me. To me, that is totally unacceptable. EDIT - I stand by this 1 Star review. Green Earth's response, which is rife with superfluous details meant to gaslight the reader's attention from the primary substance of this review about poor transparency, confirms my complaint when they note that "we do not divulge everything about our service to you". That is the essence of my gripe with Green Earth - that they came to my apartment and did not tell me what they found or whether and how they may have deviated from the chemicals that they had planned to use in their original game plan - not their poor service, which as I mentioned, I'm used to. It's also notable that the proprietor, Josh A., has reached out to me privately to plead that I take this review down, yet when pressed he still will not share the post-service report for my recent extermination saying that he doesn't have a legal obligation to do so. Therefore, heed this warning based on my personal experience: if you want a company that is going to be forthright with you about everything that they're doing when they treat your home, do not hire Green Earth. EDIT 2 - The proprietor keeps piling on with bush league excuses and claims that 95% of what I wrote is false (which is not quite how the conveyance of opinions in a review works - the point of the review is to share how I feel about the experience that I had and there is nothing factually incorrect about how I describe my personal perception of the bade experience that I had with Green Earth). He sent me seven emails in the course of just over two hours shortly after the original review was posted. But the truth is that despite all of the back and forth and additional pleas from me, Josh A. still won't furnish a post-service report for the work that was done in my apartment. That is a fact and one can see from his responses that he cannot defend the substance of my complaint about Green Earth's lack of transparency. As I told him privately, he and his staff should focus on running a better company, not quibbling with customers that just want a minimum level of reportage after an extermination treatment. EDIT 3 - The proprietor is now making baseless legal threats over this review. Note that in the attached email that he sent this morning he steadfastly continues to refuse to provide basic information about what Green Earth did in my apartment which, in his view, I "have no need for." I have no idea why they have all 5 stars rating. I booked them based on yelper's reviews lol. Well, no doubt about their customers services. A star for that. The staffs are nice, professional but their treatment is not worth $250 plus tax. I found German cockroaches in my apartment and was freaking out even after I tried to use a couple of gel bait, trap...on amazon. The guy showed up for like 15 min, used the same gel bait I bought on amazon for $7-$10. Nothing fancy. The only difference was I put way too much gel bait and he only used a little here and there to attract the cockroaches and when they eat it, they will bring back to their nest and the rest of them will be killed as he explained. Its been a month since I used their service. Still seeing cockroaches. In a nut shell, you could just save up $250 and buy stuffs do it yourself. read more

I am SO impressed with this company. I personally work at a company that makes sure the customer is ALWAYS first. I am used to the philosophy of relinquishing short term gain for long term gain. And this company has that philosophy. And as a result, I will be a paying customer in the future and likely, for a long long time (well hopefully i dont have a continuing issue with bugs but i digress). Here's the story: I'm getting ready for work this morning and I see a tiny little fleck on my couch. I pick it up and its moving. It's a bug. A small but noticeable one. It's sort of reddish brown, the body sort of looks round. I begin to FREAK OUT. I trap it, take pics and immediately scour yelp for an exterminator. I find Green Earth Pest Control at the top of the list and they have the most reviews (and all good ones), so I ping for a quote. But the yelp form has an option to send to four different exterminators in addition to Green Earth. I'm glad I did this bc I'm so much more appreciative of Green Earth as a result. Green Earth gets back to me in less than 10 minutes. I get a message, I call them and the lovely woman Chelsea asks me to send a pic to their email alias. They identify whether the bug is a bed bug free of charge based on the pictures. No push to come in for a consult, no fee, just the right thing to do that was quick. I send the email, she answers back after 30 minutes or so and confirms its not a bed bug but looks like a type of common beetle. I mean, talk about lifting the grips of fear from my entire being in one email. I thanked her and immediately set out to write up this review. She didn't make any money on me. For now. But there is no way that I am not going to use this company if/when the time comes for bug extermination. More so, I plan to shout this place from the rooftops to anyone who needs consultation and extermination! In case you were wondering what the other three companies responded back, here are direct quotes: "Hi when can I came by and inspect it thanks" "Thanks for reaching out the cost is $75 for the inspection, you can send us a photo as well sometimes we can determine what the insect is from that." "Where are you located" Only one other company was somewhat helpful in trying to identify over email. We called 3 or 4 places and Green Earth not only was the first to respond, but they were also the most helpful as I was not sure how to resolve our insect issues. For the initial set-up/consolation, Chelsea was very prompt in regards to communication, appointment set up, and thoroughness. She provided an estimate quote for the roach spraying and all of the steps she would take if we moved forward with their company. Once we decided to move forward, appointment setup was easy and we were given a two hour arrival window. They arrived near the beginning of the window, which is always a welcomed surprise with any type of in-home service. Peter baited multiple areas in our kitchen and around the house. The spray did not have a smell and wasn't noticeable, and Peter did the whole house inside and out. While working, Peter was very professional and worked swiftly. He also walked me through everything that was being done and what to expect in the coming days. Green Earth Pest Control was amazing! I just got off the phone with Will and I just need to say WOW, this business has incredible customer service. My dog over labor day weekend was infected with fleas, the last 48 hours have been a nightmare in regards to treating him but I digress. My dog was never in my apartment until last night where I bathed him in my bathroom and he slept there in order to avoid him infecting my apartment. I wanted to be super proactive in preventing any flea infestation in my apartment so I started calling a few pest control businesses to figure out if I needed to treat my place professionally. Will was so incredibly helpful and gave me the best advice of how to self treat the situation myself rather than trying to get me to pay for a full fumigation which he deemed unnecessary because of my circumstance. Talk about an honesty company with integrity. While I didn't do business with them today, I will certainly turn to them in the future if I ever (which hopefully will be never) but if I EVER have an issue, they already have my business. It gets better!!! My dear, if you're looking up pest control places on Yelp, don't wait another day, don't wait another week, don't try to fix it yourself.... CALL THESE GUYS! First of all, they will really calm you off whatever ledge you are on (in my case it was an ant infestation which is actually much grosser than it sounds), and they are punctual, professional, knowledgeable, and, the most important part: they get rid of your problem. I love all of God's creatures as much as the next guy, but not in my apartment. I had tried and tried to get rid of them myself, but sometimes you just need a professional. Just cast off whatever shame or procrastinating that's keeping you from calling, and just call! If money is an issue, my guess is that they might even make you a deal for being a first-timer. In January 2011, my husband and I were concerned we might have bedbugs. So we called Green Earth for a consultation. They were helpful and straightforward via email and phone and we were able to book an appointment quickly. The technician arrived on time and, after an inspection, found we did have the dreaded critters. So, we got a quote and enlisted Green Earth's help to get rid of the bugs. Peter (our technician) and the rest of the team at Green Earth were thorough, professional, punctual, knowledgeable and straightforward. They did the initial treatment, then returned to follow up 2 weeks later. (They even ensured the safety of our pets by helping us sequester them properly.) In terms of fees, they charged us precisely what they'd quoted us and, while bedbug removal is not typically inexpensive, we felt Green Earth's prices were reasonable. Note - I have NOT used Green Earth Pest Control services; this review is based on a call I had with Kerry. I saw what I'm 99% sure to be a flying cockroach last night crawling up my bed. He ended up flying behind my bed and I could not get him to come out. After an hour of crying, I decided to sleep on the couch and only slept for 4 hours. This morning I was determined to call a green/less toxic pest control to get some information and see what the next steps are. I called and left a voicemail, and in less than an hour, Kerry called me back. He was amazing - basically talked me through my tears and explained that 1 roach sighting is not cause for alarm and it's not necessary to have pest control come and spray something for no reason. He explained that I should monitor over the next two weeks, and if I do see something again, I should efinitely call back. I love that he wasn't trying to sell me something, but rather trying to give me the best help possible. He also offered to send over information about their cockroach service should I need it in the future. We then discussed ways to prevent an infestation, including using silicone to stop up any holes, washing all dishes, putting away all food, and Although I hopefully will not need to use Green Earth's services, I have to rate them 5 stars on their customer service. read more

We all know New York City is filled with pests, but when I saw giant roaches in my apartment I freaked. I tried all different types of roach killing products out there (which is not something you want lying around your apartment), and it was the most disgusting experience EVER! My husband and I just bought a new house and a couple of weeks after moving in we started seeing spider beetles everywhere. Of course I freaked because they resemble bed bugs - anyhow we called in an emergency exterminator who "diagnosed" the problem and "recommended" a treatment (we'll refer to them as "bad guys" from here on out). The problem was that their method of treatment was NOT accurate. Fast forward four visits and over $1,000 spent with the bad guys - I call GREEN EARTH PEST CONTROL because I'm at my wits end. Josh immediately provides accurate information over the phone, the first gem being that the treatment method used by the bad guys is not an effective way of treating spider beetles. He tells me to vacuum and also schedules a visit to treat our house. Low and behold, 2 weeks later after frequent vacuuming (all the nooks and crannies as Josh recommended) and just one visit from GREEN EARTH PEST CONTROL we haven't seen a spider beetle since. I haven't actually used their service (yet) but had to write a review because they are just so honest, caring and amazing people. I called to get a quote for a silverfish issue cause everywhere I looked (many exterminators) said I'd need a professional help. When I called and spoke to Kerry, he told me they didn't offer service related to silverfish because I wouldn't really need an exterminator. I'm literally told not to waste money on exterminators because the issue is humidity and I could get rid of them by getting a dehumidifier. He spent 15 mins of his time asking questions and going through steps I'd need to take and gave his honest and amazing advice on how to resolve it. I mean..I've never met/spoken to a service provider being this honest and ABSOLUTELY HELPFUL vs. just trying to take your money. David is the BEST Technician at the company! I have basically met every technician at Green Earth that services my area and I am at the point that I want to request ONLY David going forward. I have used Green Earth since I purchased my apartment (6 years ago). Finally, this year the building secured Green Earth as our exclusive service. Thank goodness, David is our Tech for the building. He is professional, kind, respectful, thorough and knows how to treat the building. He is observant and knowledgable as to the building's downfalls and knows what to suggest to the Board for the longterm health of our building. I found Green Earth Pest Control after waiting months for building management to address our cockroach problem- eventually we just couldn't handle it anymore. Josh was great at reassuring us and getting us set up with an appointment. The service? Fantastic! The day they applied the treatment we started to see those little roaches writhing around in their death throes, and after a week we stopped seeing them entirely. It's been a month since our apartment has been treated and we're completely cockroach-free!!! Their technician also found a mouse hole that we didn't know we had, and advised us on the best way to fix it. That is definitely going above and beyond. These guys are the BEST! I called today about a hornets nest that was found in my son's playhouse outside. I was worried that he would not be able to use the patio for awhile. I called Green Earth and was immediately put at ease. The staff is super friendly and QUICK! Within minutes I had a quote, timeframe and appointment set! The timeframe was from 2-5 PM the SAME DAY! I've worked w/pest control companies that tell you if there are still pest that they'd come back to re-do their job - NO CHARGE. After an extremely expensive bed bug scare in my last apartment, I noticed a couple of similar-looking little creatures in my room. Fortunately, my new building is serviced by Green Earth Pest Control who stops in twice a month. After calling to make sure they'd check out my apartment specifically on their next visit (to which they of course said yes), Josh told me to send him pictures of the bugs so that I wouldn't have to wait in agony wondering if I was in for breakfast-lunch-and-dinner again. With in a few hours, Josh responded that these bugs were NOT (-- and that's a reassuring, capital "NOT") beg bugs and that they were sow bugs. From the moment I looked up and called their main number to the end of their exterminating visit at my parents' New York City house, I had a great experience--if you can even call combatting pests/bugs a "great experience." Claudia, Will, and Peter (the exterminator who came to the house) were helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable. I told him that I had saved a bug I just killed, so he had me take pictures and send them along for a free inspection. Within 5 minutes he called me back to tell me that they were Shiny Spider Beetles- totally harmless compared to bedbugs and to do some power vacuuming and I'll be alright. After returning to our apartment after the COVID crisis, we found an abnormally high amount of cockroaches in our apartment. Working with Green Earth Pest Control was an excellent experience. Joseph came out the very next day and he was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable, took the job very seriously and was super friendly and funny. He was incredibly patient, listened to my problem and scheduled a technician to come over early the next day, and even worked with my not so flexible schedule. I spoke with Kery on the phone, and he was great. Totally understood that I needed to get these mice out of my apartment asap and got me the earliest date possible. I've never had to deal with mice in my living space (i grew up with raccoons and squirrels living in my garage and even that was too much for me). Joe was great. I had several mice running around my apartment. I'm pretty terrified of these things because they're gross, and they make me feel like I'm messy even though I take care to clean up after myself, but honestly, I'd rather have a roach infestation than have to deal with once mouse. He came in, looked around for holes, shook things up, even helped me look through things to make sure there weren't anymore (ie: he dumped things out because i refused to do it myself). He sealed up the holes, took care to seal up minor things and things that probably weren't an issue but I was concerned about, and took out a big armful of my possibly infested garbage, which was great! Because I didn't want to touch it. At all. Alas, the next day I found a huge gap in my base cabinet where the sink is that is likely a place mice would come in (big hole by the pipe, etc). And just 5 mins ago I saw a mouse run off of my kitchen counter to hide behind my stove. Luckily there are glue traps behind the stove so hopefully it got caught. I understand that I might still run into mice in the next couple of weeks, but I really wish that gap had been filled. read more

We had a very serious roach problem in our apartment when the management's preferred service stopped returning our calls. We made an appointment with another local exterminator who decided to cancel Friday night at 4:00pm, when our appointment was for Saturday at 10:00am. I called Green Earth frantically hoping for an immediate appointment and they had an opening! The next day, Green Earth's tech called to give me a 15 minute warning and was at my apartment right on time. He explained the treatment and even treated the neighboring trash room for me. The whole process took less than an hour, and we haven't seen a bug since (it's been well over a month). I would recommend this service to ANYONE. They are polite, efficient, and fairly priced. "Not good" - one star is "not good"??? Can I put 0 stars? An investigation by yelp should be made -- anyone giving this company 5 stars i suspect is from the company. They told us "$250 for the first apartment, then $150 for each apt after". And we got a bill, for three apartments, for $1,750!!! And when we called to discuss this, the woman we spoke to was full on nasty. It was all specious baloney. They demanded payment, stayed around an unnecessary long time, and stole our money. We're working people, we don't have this kind of cash to cough up for some hustlers. read more
