I've used Green Collar Operations twice now and I've always gotten excellent service from their installers. Their professional, and very detail oriented. They do a great job of cleaning up. Whether your having a solar powered attic exhaust fan installed (highly recommended), a new duct into a room that's running hot in the summer or just adding some much needed insulation; this is the team to call. Highly recommended. read more

This place was AMAZING from beginning to end. I left a message over the weekend when they were closed. First thing Monday morning they returned my call (which in contractor world is a miracle) and were able to send an employee out that day to give me an estimate. I only wanted insulation but received so much more. Adam completed an energy audit then sat down with me to review the information and pricing then and there. Turns out I would be able to receive rebates from Austin Energy and TX Gas if I completed a few more projects to bring my home up to code which brought the cost of ALL the projects down to basically that of the insulation. They were a no pressure company, gave me the price of everything individually and let me decide. In the end I had 2 air combustion ducts installed, insulation placed, air ducts cleaned, air vents replaced and doors sealed. They arranged for the inspector for the rebates to come out before and after the work was completed. Rob and Allison were great to work with. Very satisfied with every step of this process!! read more

It gives me great pleasure to give this company my full recommendation. Several weeks ago I wrote a rather scathing review of work they had done for me 4 1/2 years ago. In hindsight, I probably should have contacted them first, but I thought no way would they clean up a mess created so long ago. Well, no sooner had the digital ink dried on that review when they, meaning the owners of the company, contacted me about it. I got the feeling they really wanted to make things right, so I gave them the opportunity. I was not disappointed! Rob, the company owner, apologized for the work done earlier, saying the guys who had done it were no longer with the company, and said he would fix it. And he did. He redrew the duct layout and had three guys, including himself, working all day on it. And they came by a few days later to finish the job. And the cost? I only had to pay for some touch up insulation, which it probably needed. That my friends is standing behind your work! If I ever have additional work such as this to be done, they will be the first folks I will call. Well done, GCO! read more

Addendum to my old review, These guys just went above and beyond. During my city inspection (which passed no problem), the City inspector pointed out the water heater should not have passed because the vent pipe should have been secured at each elbow joint and was not. Guess who fixed that for free? Yep...Green Collar gets an A+ in my book, I'd recommend them every time. read more

Austin has a new requirement before you can sell your home. You must get an ECAD report to give the buyer. Green Collar was able to do a report within 3 days of my request and for less than a couple of other companies I called. ($50-100 cheaper than others) I was pleased with their response time and cost and the report was professionally done. I would recommend them to anyone who is not exempt from getting this report before selling your home. read more

Outstanding customer service! My home is significantly cooler and my electric usage has decreased by 20%.

I had a great experience with Green Collar Operations. I was interested in adding more insulation after the cold that we experienced in February 2021, and they did that and more. Bill Cook recommended redesigning our duct work to take care of uneven temperatures in our house. In the winter our living area with cathedral ceilings would be too cool, while the bedrooms would be too warm. In the summer the living area was too warm, and the bedrooms were really chilly. The new ductwork took care of that problem, and with the cold from the current ice storm we're enjoying very comfortable temperatures throughout the house. In addition to the ductwork, additional insulation was installed, baffles added over the soffit vents, and they made sure that the doors, windows, ac air intake vents, and plumbing areas were sealed. Everyone I dealt with from this company was great, and Rob Scott, one of the owners, was here to meet with the city inspector and afterwards to inspect and make sure that the job was done right. I highly recommend Green Collar for the quality of their work and their attention to detail. read more

Had need for ducts replaced and insulation as well. They did a great job. We also added solar exhausts. Pricing was reasonable. communications was great. crew was efficient and quick. great clean up. They did the paper work for rebates with the city. I highly recommend them. read more

As a real estate agent, I always find value in finding quality vendors to do work on my client's homes. I used Green Collar to help with some efficiency items on my personal home. They replaced duct work and added insulation, and right away I could tell my home became more energy efficient. Before they came, some rooms were different temperatures and now temperature is consistent throughout the house. They worked in conjunction with the city of Austin to help with the rebate program. They have good systems in place as well as their own quality control that helps them achieve the highest pass rate with the City. The investment I made has a measurable return each month, and I feel like I should have done this years ago. Give Green Collar a call for a consultation and they will help you save money on your energy costs. read more

I purchased my first home last March (which was built in 1986), and I could tell right away that money was flying out the door with my energy bill. My neighbor recommended Green Collar to come out and take a look, and they put together a thorough plan that was affordable to help make my home more efficient and comfortable. They came out yesterday to do the work and I was blown away by their service and customer service. Two guys worked on my home, and one of them was the owner, Rob. Pretty refreshing to see the actual owner of the business getting out there, interacting with his clients and getting his hands dirty! Not only was Green Collar affordable, but they also coordinate with The City of Austin for inspections and permits to ensure everything is done correctly and to ensure that I receive every rebate possible. I HIGHLY recommend Green Collar to anyone who is looking to save money and also have a home that is much more comfortable during the hot summer days of Austin! Alex read more

Green Collar Operations were awesome to work with! We had them come out and check the energy efficiency on our home. The guys were honest and didn't try to up-sell us on products or services we didn't need. They reinforced our insulation and weatherize the house. The guys were extremely professional and fast. They handled all of the rebates. We were extremely happy with the service and would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to make their home more energy efficient! read more

Green Collar is a top notch organization. Bill came out and did an energy audit. He told us what we needed and didn't try to up sell anything. We added insulation in the attic and some walls. The installers were very courteous and efficient. Very nice young men. Pricing was reasonable for the install. Thank you Rob for the follow up visit. Highly recommend this company. read more

Green Collar's service was terrific. The crew did a great job and our home is better insulated than ever before. Rob stopped by for an inspection afterward. We feel confident that our heating and cooling system will benefit from Green Collar's work. Thanks y'all! read more

We had Adam with Green Collar blow in insulation, seal our duct work and install Y splitters for our house late fall last year. However, now that it's getting hot again we are noticing how uneven house house is heating and cooling. The work done was supposed to fix this and didn't. Everyone was very nice, but we spend a lot of money to be back where we started. read more

THIS IS THE COMPANY TO GO TO FOR A/C WORK IN AUSTIN !!! Rob at Green Collar Operations is amazing! We have a newish 2 story condo/townhouse (2009) that wouldn't cool properly upstairs. We had other companies out who said they couldn't find any problem or that we needed a several thousand dollar addition to the damping system or wanted to install an expensive exterior fan in the very tall stairwell. We had several appointments set w/ other companies that were either postponed several days or just didn't show up. The office staff assured us their tech would arrive the next day on time and he did. Rob did an thorough audit and ended up telling us we had a terrific system in place and only some pretty minor tweaking was needed. He helped us do some of it ourselves to control costs and went above & beyond to make our system better than ever for a quarter of what we planned to spend. I keep Rob's card on me at all times and recommend him and Green Collar Operations constantly. read more

I have a room that was poorly insulated and they came and added more insulation in my attic above the garage and sealed my return vents. Did it fast, cleanly and it looks great. Real nice folks, came when they said they would and cleaned up after themselves. read more

I called this company on a referral from a neighbor. I wanted an Energy Audit and was not pleased with the type of "audit" performed. All the guy did was go up in my attic, come down and tell me there was nothing he could do to help us. He didn't suggest adding insulation anywhere, his loss. We do need more insulation, I figure this guy just didn't want to do it or is just that incapable of performing an audit. I don't know about you, but an Energy Audit should be more than a walk into the attic. I am glad it was free, but I will never recommend them. read more

--First: Know the GCO is smart enough to "stack" their positive reviews. Meaning, they have friends and family etc write reviews. I hired Green Collar via a sub contractor AirCo (who installed a new AC system) BTW, this reputable AC company no longer works with Green Collar. 1. Long story short, one of the guys dropped a bucket of sealing mastic on our carpet. They sent a guy out to clean it, it didn't work. They mailed out a $150 check but now the carpet I have in about 1,000SF needs to be replaced. 2. The doors were not sealed properly, I can still feel the air flowing - even after inviting them back to fix the problem. 3. The cheap clear caulk they used around the inside windows has fully dried and looks horrible. It was applied too wide and thin, and now becomes a permanent dust collector. 4. When the performance "test" was completed, it wasn't clear to me that anything was really being tested. I might be wrong here but I would think a before and after test would have meaning. All in all a horrible experience, I really liked the owner but bottom line, they hire kids who don't care about your house, thus a bad company to work with. They have a great website, Green Collar is a very marketing savvy group but don't get fooled into allowing them into your house. Additionally, I wouldn't put it past them to "stack" their own reviews Sincerely, Disappointed on Mesa Drive read more

I contacted Green Collar based on their listing on the Austin Energy approved contractors list for the energy rebate program, plus the recommendation of a friend. Adam came out and did an evaluation and estimate, and he made it easy to understand the proposed work plan for adding attic insulation and then optionally remediating some issues with our ducts. There was no hard sales pitch, and he made the proposed costs and estimated rebate return clear up front. Once we agreed on the plan, their work crew came out and completed the work on schedule and with no problems. Everyone on the crew and in the office was professional but easy to work with and talk to, and everything was completed to my satisfaction, including the final inspection with Austin Energy to get the rebate paperwork processed. I recommend Green Collar based on my experience. read more

I can't say enough great things about Rob and his crew. GCO replaced my entire duct system which was decades old. The guys who worked on it were courteous, explained the process (which matched what I was first told), and were fastidious in their cleanup. There were a couple places where they made a couple small dings in the paint, and GCO paid my painter to do those touchups, no questions asked. They even came back for a follow up visit months later to switch out a duct and add some dampers at no charge just to make sure all the rooms were getting an even flow. read more

Green Collar performed a comprehensive energy audit and installed additional attic insulation and weather stripping. The sales representative was informative and provided just the right level of follow through, attentive but not high pressure. The men who did the work were prompt, courteous, and efficient. I appreciated the fact that they cleaned up after themselves and left the house in the same condition that they found it. The company coordinated with the city of Austin so I could get my rebate. The best thing about this energy saving program is that the city performs a pre and post inspection so the homeowner is assured that the work has been done right. I highly recommend the company! read more

My attic was woefully under-insulated. I called several companies and Green Collar was the one that expressed the most interest in doing the work and at a fair price. I also had some attic ventilation put in by others, and between the new insulation and attic fans I am already seeing a difference in the temperature of the house. The thermostat used to be set at 73, now I have to put it up to 77. They did good work in the attic, made sure not to blow insulation over the soffit vents, kept everything contained and looking good. I love my attic now and basically want to just hang out in it! The technicians arrived one hour late one morning and did not call beforehand. I had to call to ask where they were. read more

My wife and I recently bought a new home and we knew we needed some new insulation in the attic. Based on the positive reviews on Yelp we called Green Collar and they set up a consultation visit. Bill came out and looked around the house and the attic. He advised us on some other repairs (adding an additional intake vent, adding a new supply plenum) that would give us more bang for the buck than the insulation, though he also recommended new insulation. He took the time to walk me through the options and suggested some other good energy-saving tips. The quote seemed fair based upon some quick price checks and we proceeded with the full scope suggested by Bill. The crew that came out to do the work arrived on time, got done faster than expected, and cleaned up after themselves. Rob, the owner of the business, scheduled a follow up visit just to make sure everything looked good. All in all, it was a positive experience, and I would use them again for future work. read more

The folks from Green Collar were super. They were very professional and did a great job. They are also good about calling and emailing information. My first impression of Green Collar was a little negative due to some mis-communications after a bid, and I was originally planning to use another company for some relatively major upgrades to my HVAC system. Due to scheduling issues with the other business, I decided to give Green Collar another try, and I'm definitely glad that I did. The work was high-quality, and customer service from start to finish couldn't have been any better. I highly recommend Green Collar Operations. read more

Beware of this company's fraudulent business practices. A couple of years ago, a friend recommended Green Collar to do an energy audit of the house I'd just purchased. Green Collar did three things when they came. 1. Checked the ductwork for leaks and sealed as needed, 2. Added air dams to canned recessed lights, 3. Added a duct to a bathroom that did not have one. 1. They did a reasonably good job testing and sealing the duct work, although their workers left quite a mess and I had to call them back to clean up. Since that time I've been in the attic for other repairs and found an incredible amount of garbage that their installers left up there. They simply treated the attic as a garbage heap for empty containers. 2. They recommended that air dams be installed around the canned/recessed lights because in their words "you need to keep insulation away from the light housings." This is where I have a major problem. I just had another contractor in to do some repair work and he asked why there were air dams in the attic. I told him that GC had made that recommendation and charged me for installing them. His response was "You have Halo model H7RICT which are rated for direct insulation contact. Adding air dams is not only unnecessary, it significantly decreases energy efficiency." I did a bit of research and he was right. Green Collar recommended, performed and charged for work that was not only unnecessary, but it decreases the energy efficiency of my house. 3. On the duct that was added to the bathroom--that was done, but now that I've had a chance to get in the attic and examine the work I can see that there is an excessive length of flex duct that was used. It's literally twice as long as needed and placed in an awkward position. Extra length of flex duct is another energy waster. It's two years later that I'm finding out what kind of work Green Collar did. I was taken advantage of because I did not have the time to do research on their recommendations. Beware. read more

The whole process working with Green Collar from beginning to end was very professional and efficient. The process was explained to us in detail in advance, and documentation was very clear. Green Collar Operations went above and beyond to meet our expectations. Adam called me and set a time to come asses our home and within 30 minutes he had ideas and a plan to improve our efficiency. Within 24 hours we had a bid and noted rebates emailed to us, we adjusted the bid (with no issue) and scheduled the work. Five days later 2 very polite, informative and professional guys arrived and within 2 hours all of the work was completed and cleaned as if no one had been there. Rob the owner came by a few days later and gave the work a once over and even fixed a few things he saw to make improvements and gave his seal of approval. AFTER a week I had a question about our thermostat programing and Adam came back out and set them both free of charge. All in all great work, honest and professional. I would recommend these guys for as long as anyone asks. read more

I called Green Collar Operations based on their reviews and this company does not disappoint! They are very professional, provide exceptional customer service, are detailed oriented, extremely knowledgeable, and performed a great job. I had a new HVAC system put in and because I did not have a smooth, seamless experience I decided to give my business to Green Collar for duct work and add insulation. Bill Cook came to my house and conducted a full inspection. What an exemplary employee to represent the company - professional, thorough & very knowledgeable; took the time to check the work that had been done by the HVAC company and provided recommendations they had overlooked. He calmly answered all my questions, and created 2 quotes with budget options, one that included how to obtain energy rebates from the city. Bill worked it all out and help me fit in what I needed within my budget. He was prompt and returned my calls - very customer centric. Jacob & Troy came to install the insulation, performed the duct work, & replaced vents. They were respectful, meticulous and did an excellent job - they ensured everything was cleaned up and took pictures to send to the main office as part of the quality check process. Here's where the company stands out from all others: the owner of the company comes out to perform a quality inspection. That's speaks volumes and exemplifies the importance of not only exceptional customer centric practices but someone who operates with integrity, stands by the work, and leads by example. I highly recommend them. read more

Bill came out and did a full energy audit - it was mostly what we expected, but also some extras that he told us would save money and better heat/cool our house in the long run. We had a duct added, some weatherstripping replaced and insulation added to our attic space. The cost was extremely reasonable and Green Collar promptly scheduled all service with the whole job completed within two weeks. They even coordinated with the City in order to inspect pre- and post-service for rebates on the items we had taken care of. Our 1973 one-story house was ready just in time for a cold snap, and I genuinely could not be more pleased with the customer service and care we received during this interaction. read more

Bill and Alison work really hard to make your home improvements seemless. We had extra insulation put in, a new HVAC system, diverters in the air ducts to ensure each room got the right amount of air flow. Service was fast (all under a week!) The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 (and I would give myself 4 stars as a customer becuase I didn't think to ask the right questions) is that there wasn't enough communication about how the work might effect your existing home warranty. I do recommend them, call especially if you are getting your home ready for solar! read more

I have used Green Collar Operation twice, they provided very good service both times. They are very competitive and once the agreement to perform services are agreed, they arrive on-time and work efficiently to perform contracted work. I had a very good experience with Green Collar recently. Great professional service! Everyone that I dealt with at Green Collar (Adam, Rob, Allison) was friendly, professional and went above and beyond to make sure my house was taken care of.
