It is so hard to get contractors that do what they say they are going to do. Pat and his team were very patient with me. They gave me a quote in Spring 2016 and due to a family responsibility, it caused me to push the project to 2017. Out of five quotes he was one of two people who came back out to requote the job. He was the only contractor that sent me a quote when he said he would and showed up on time. Pat and his guys came out and removed all the old debris from my attic and installed spray foam. He even went up and above the original plan and resealed our heating ducts and foamed around our light fixtures and air vents to seal them completely. It's only been about a month so I can't yet speak to the cost savings but I can tell you that we have been able to turn our thermostat up 6 degrees and it's still pretty cold in the house. It took Pat a couple of days to return my call - I expected it from busy contractor teams and didn't mind. I used the time to show the project to a few other contractors. Pat stopped by, and I was immediately taken by how passionate he was about the foam technology - a solution I was secretly leaning toward from my own studies. What he said resonated with what I read. Plus, I loved to work with people who are passionate about what they do. Verbal agreement reached. Pat had to delay the scheduled work a couple of times due to jobs at hand, and he had a even bigger job starting right after mine. I got concerned. By the time his team got to me, they had exactly one day to finish the job. I worried if the work quality might suffer. Pat and his team showed up on time in the morning. By the time I got home from work in the afternoon, they were done. I inspected the area, not only did they vacuum the old fiberglass as agreed, and foamed the whole vaulted ceiling, sealing every nook and cranny, they also fixed a major leak in my duct work, and foamed my AC return air plenums to keep from energy loss (duct work was not in the agreement). Ernest, one of the guys climbed under both of my fake gables to reach the real ceiling above them to foam it (I didn't even know about the hidden ceiling). All three of the guys had to have pushed hard to get so much done in one day - and then some. A big smile on Pat's face told me he was proud of what they did. It's been a couple of weeks now, and for the first time since I bought the house, I felt warm air coming out of the vent during 40 degree nights outside. The air was able to reach the 72-75 range I set, and actually stopped blowing regularly throughout the night. I think Pat's foaming of the plenums helped too. How fantastic. My word of advice is be patient, do your own research about the technologies, and work with the right contractors. The ones who responded first did not have my best interest at heart - promoting solutions that were not the best for me simply because that's what they carried. Phone tagging and delays I can handle - that's part of working with people. But when you find those guys who are passionate about getting things done right, stick with them. I received a quote after Pat himself came and looked at the attic. We gave him the go ahead and after several days he finally showed up to do the work. His guy was here for a full day and got maybe a quarter of the work complete. He came back the next day this time with the owner Pat. Once here for about an hour he decided he was not going to do the job anymore and walked off the job he stated because we wouldn't be going with him for blow in insulation and he had bigger jobs so ours was a waste of time for him. That was never ever discussed or part of the agreement. When he left the job he left all his trash behind didn't clean any of it. He even left 5 bags up in the attic. We had to get a trailer and haul all of his trash off. Once we started loading the trash up we discovered that because one of his bags tore it was shooting hard pieces out and broke our brand new window in 3 places with tons more nicks throughout all the glass. Now I have to pay for either new windows or for the glass to be replaced. NEVER ever use this company. The integrity isn't there. read more

Not much to say here. I made an appointment for August 1st (took off of work for this) and AtticDr was a no show. I called and left a message after 1 hour and then after 4 hours of waiting. I was finally called back about 5 hours after the appointment to hear that 1) AtticDr would not be able to make it and 2) it was because he had a bigger job scheduled that he would rather go to! So, he told me he would reschedule and despite me following up 2 weeks later nothing happened. I actually joined Yelp today just to write this review because of how annoyed I am at being completely blown off for a bigger job and then never making the effort to call me back. I was a little skeptical about the efficiency numbers, but my ducts were decrepit and my AC guys didn't want to touch them. Pat and his team installed a new attic door, and completely encapsulated my attic with foam, repairing and sealing all my ductwork in the attic. No only has this saved my Nixon-era ductwork and given me 300+sq ft. of storage, but the house is COLD upstairs. Prior to the Attic Dr., downstairs was several degrees cooler, upstairs pretty warm- now that has flipped. Our upstairs is super-cool now and no more 'attic smell' when the AC first kicks on. Pat is what I call "Old Austin"- he works hard, keeps it simple, and fixed problems on the fly. He understands the anatomy of an older house and made accurate framing decisions based on his knowledge of house building. Not much to go on yet, but I can tell my AC is running less, and my Util Bill shows a drop of usage from last May/June by about 17% (not bad since we are still in renovation with lots of contractors in-out). I was referred to Attic DR by the Attic Breeze solar fan company. I wanted a solar attic fan and did some homework, and decided that Attic Breeze was the best on the market. I contacted the manufacturer who referred me to Attic DR. Attic DR is one of the few companies in town that both sells and installs the Attic Breeze brand fans. I contacted Attic DR owner Pat by email, and he came out to the house. He talked me into getting a radiant barrier in addition to the fan. Pat was very professional in appearance and demeanor, and seemed to know what he was talking about. Although his sales approach was a bit more aggressive than I would have liked, I would not describe him as pushy. Pat was willing to work with me on the price of things, until we got to a number that we could both live with. Since I was already sold on the Attic Breeze brand, I did not shop around with other companies, but the price I ended up getting from Pat seemed reasonable. When it came time to install my fan and barrier, Pat was there throughout the process. He and his assistant showed up on time, and the work seems to have been done thoroughly and competently. They did leave a bucket of paint filled water in my garage attic, but that is a minor error. So far the products seem to be working as advertised, and my attic is MUCH cooler than it was before. Time will tell if I actually see any noticeable savings on my utility bills. Overall I would definitely recommend this company to anyone considering a radiant barrier or attic fan. read more

first thing I need to mention is that I'm not writing this for any discount or any sort of bonus on my bill. I wanted to find someone who would quickly install radiant barrier and put in an attic fan because I was tired of dealing with a hot house. I made it a point this summer to lower my electric bills. I called Pat, the Attic Dr. owner, and within an hour he was at my house and in the attic giving me a reasonable quote. We decided that radiant barrier (the foil type) would be so incredibly labor intensive due to the sheer forest of truss boards in my attic, he explained that it could be done, but would involve an enormous amount of labor cost. I agreed after he pointed out all that was involved, we opted for the radiant spray. He suggested to do two coats, add some more insulation, install the attic fan - all this should see some improvement in lowering the attic temp and my bills; ideally. Either way, I know that the investment was worth it, I have absolutely no shade on my home and anything to drop the temperature is worth the money. Pat's team was courteous, clean, most importantly they worked independently and didn't interfere with my routine that day. He texted me when it was done, I came home and everything was great! Found a deal on living social and had Pat and his team come clean our AC ducts and dryer vent. We figured they were somewhat dirty after looking at the return vent, but I was amazed at how much dirt and dust they vacuumed out of the ducts. I did have to clean up a couch and some dust they missed on the floors after they left, so they get 4 stars. Within 6 hours of turning the heater back on the house was already warmer than it was before without changing any settings on the thermostat. Plus the house smells so much cleaner. Highly recommend getting your duct work cleaned every other year or so. read more

Let's see... he took way longer than he said he would, left a huge mess, and didn't communicate well. Worst of all, he did a bad job. He used the wrong kind of spray foam on our doors and windows so they don't shut right now. He insulated areas that weren't supposed to be, so we had to re-do them. When we moved into our new house, one of the only major things on our inspection report was the attic insulation..well the lack thereof. We are talking 2"- 6" depths throughout the house. That is not good! So I called Attic Dr. and Pat was able to come out the same day to give me a quote. He showed up on time for the initial appointment and was very friendly. He popped up in the attic and poked around for a little bit and then came inside to check out the air handler in the hallway. Along with the attic insulation he also suggested a solar attic fan to help remove the hot air from the attic more efficiently which will help overall to keep the house cool. The quote was very reasonable (which he gave me written copy of before he left) and the solar fan purchase and installation is eligible 30% federal tax rebate! He said they could do the install in two days. So two days later, they showed up again - ON TIME - to start the job. For me, being on time is a really big deal. We have three dogs and a ten month old. Being at our house when you say you will brings my stress level down a ton just for that. They got right to work and were done in just over two hours. Pat also weatherstripped the closet door to the air handler in the house to seal it completely. Also, our pull down attic stairs were a little too long and kinda scary - well he fixed those at no additional charge!! WHAT?! So awesome. I so appreciated the whole experience and am so happy we did this before it gets scary hot here this summer. Can't wait to see the difference on those A/C bills!! Pat was thirty minutes early, which was a major inconvenience as I was attempting to orchestrate contractors coming by for a zillion other things in my house AND still find time to eat lunch. When he arrived, he spent maybe thirty seconds poking around the attic, gave the outside of the house a casual glance, then proposed work to the tune of $6,000. When you're asking someone for $6,000 worth of business, at least pretend to care. Try to build a relationship with your potential client or develop some sort of rapport. Needless to say, we are working with someone else. We had a disastrous experience with another contractor (KP Foam Insulators) who took our old pink insulation out of our attic & left us stranded for 5 days in the heat of July with no insulation. Pat not only came within hours for an estimate, he got his crew to work short notice on a Saturday. All this so we didn't have to cancel a work trip, which would have been devastating. After inspection of the attic he discussed his findings with me in detail and, unfortunately, he did not have have a viable solution to the problem. Why the 5 Stars?, because he could easily have been unscrupulous and sold me just about anything. Instead he was honest in his assessment and didn't try to profit from my situation. Pat and crew were great and I've already recommended them to my friends and coworkers. I made many calls and had about 4-5 companies come out and give me their assessment of my attic insulation. Pat was the most timely, the most responsive, and his cost was the most reasonable (I had some quotes that were double his and I had one that was suspiciously waaay too cheap). I assess Pat to be trustworthy and a straight-shooter. That's important because a company could easily cut corners with their work up there in the attic and most of us wouldn't even know. For the install, there was minimal impact on my living area. All they do is run a couple of lines up into the attic (power line and relatively small hose for insulation) and everything is taken care of up there. It took them half a day and all I had to do was sweep up just a little bit of dirt that got tracked in; no different than if I had movers deliver something. They do have to use your breaker box to supply power to the trailer. A member of the crew didn't put one of the breakers back in the right slot but that's an easy mistake for anyone to make because all the breakers look the same. I called Pat a few days later, after he had been paid, and told him about it. He came over within a couple of hours and switched the breakers back to the right slots. He even gave me cash back because I had paid a tech to come out and diagnose a dryer problem that was actually being caused because the breaker wasn't in the right slot. There was no hesitation in making things right and I really appreciated him standing by his work. For the actual product, we're very happy with the spray foam. I put an outdoor thermostat sensor in the attic before the spray and can factually say that the temperature in the attic dropped over 15 degrees from one day to the next, and it appears to be steadily decreasing. The temp in my condo is more uniform and the AC isn't cycling on and off as quickly as it used to. One of my rooms was very poorly insulated and temps inside closely mirrored whatever temps were outside. No more! That room is now uniform with the rest of the condo and I can actually use this room in the summer without the AC cranking. In sum, I find it to be a great product and great company to work with. If I build a house in the future I'm definitely calling Pat to spray the whole house, walls and ceilings. read more

It took a few attempts to get a hold of Pat at first but once he and crew came out they performed the work as agreed. They were done in less than an hour. Pat's straightforward approach is appreciated without feeling pressured/sales pitchy. His prices are very competitive and will use them again when it's time to do further improvements such as an attic fan/additional ventilation. My only comment is I would have liked them to clean/vacuum the carpet where dust and insulation had fallen beneath the attic stairwell when they went up there.
