Greek tavern upon entering its honestly very pretty. It's got a nice ambiance and vibe for sure. The service received was great as well. I ordered the Lamb Youfetzi??? I can't remember the exact name. That dish was alright. The orzo and sauce is really what turned me off. The lamb was great. My wife got a gyro and that sucker was delicious! I must say, the hot latte I had after dinner is what took the cake. That was one of the best lattes I've ever had. Whoever made that deserves a raise! read more

As with all restaurants, the food is the most important element. Therefore, I will make the non-food review quick. The service was good, atmosphere was fine. Beginning with the appetizers, we ordered the calamari and the ricotta meatballs. The calamari was excellent, very tender with a good breading. The marinara dipping sauce was fine. I like a little bit of spicer marinara with calamari, but that's a solely personal preference and I won't use that against anyone. The meatballs were good, but a little under seasoned. The soups were a very mixed bag. I ordered the seafood bisque. It was good, however the flavor of what looked and tasted like imitation crab brought it down a little bit. The chicken lemon soup was okay, but one was cold when it was brought to us, and the other was hot only in the middle. We also ordered a margarita pizza. It was good, but I would definitely recommend asking for it to be double cut because the slices are big. Finally, the gelato was also pretty good. We ordered the salted caramel, pistachio, and coffee. They tasted homemade and all were some degree of good. Overall, a lot of hits and a lot of misses. A lot of the dishes just needed a dash of salt. Not an abundant amount, but just a little to help fill out the flavor profile. Also, the temperature on a lot of the food needs to be warmer. Lukewarm soups and a warm, but not hot, pizza is off putting. A health score of 85 (discovered after the meal), with some of the marks being against food temperature corresponds with these concerns and need to be corrected. read more

My wife and I recently ate at Greek Tavern and had a wonderful experience. We shared the Greek Pizza along with a Caesar salad, and both were excellent. The pizza was loaded with fresh toppings, perfectly seasoned, and had a great crispy crust. The Caesar salad was fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the meal. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Great food, generous portions, and a place we'll definitely return to! read more

A new Greek spot is on the block, and it's pretty yummy! The place is aesthetically pleasing, clean and new. The service was wonderful and they're attentive to your needs. New establishment, opened two weeks ago. So of course there's always room for improvement at a new establishment. However, this place is definitely on the up and up. Interior decor was definitely five star. The patio addition was a plus. We ate on the patio and it felt very good, especially being that it had a mesh covering so flying insects will not be able to bother you while you're eating. The cup of coffee was huge. Loves Ordered the fairly priced sausage, egg and cheese croissant along with the breakfast potatoes. No on the menu it does say that there will be a large portion of potatoes however I beg to differ. The food served its purpose. We did not complain, and even in the area again definitely will patronize this business. read more

Long wait but good food. Very pretty atmosphere. I loved the coffee bar. I got a cinnamon dolce latte while I waited for my table. Lunch time was a rush! So it made for a wait but as soon as we were sat the waitress came right away and our food came out fairly quickly considering how busy they were. There isn't much parking. We had to park next door and walk over. We ordered the platter, one chicken and one steak. The flavor was good and I loved the lemon potatoes and Greek salad. We will be back. Absolutely amazing restaurant. A friend shared with us in January and we visit at least every other week. The owner George is very kind and enjoys meeting his guests. Today we came for the first time for breakfast to celebrate a birthday and we got a complimentary cheese cake! Everything at this restaurant is always so good. The staff is so nice and the music and ambiance are very comfortable and relaxing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone! This is the only place my pregnant wife eats meat (besides McNuggets) because it is just SO FRESH! read more

Great venue: the restaurant is large, spacious and well appointed. The food was great and the portions were generous. We had the Lemon Chicken soup which was tasty and creamy; the 3 skewer platter with lemon potatoes and the gyro wrap platter with fries. Everything was delicious and the steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare). Server was very friendly. There were some negative things that I would point out: There were only 2 of us and I ordered the 3 skewer platter which was SO HUGE that I only ate 1/4 of it. It came with a mound of gyro meat which wasn't in the description. The server should've mentioned that this entree was probably enough for 2 people. Instead, my husband ordered the gyro wrap platter AND the soup, and she didn't say anything, knowing that there was no way we could possibly eat all that food for lunch. Also, we told her we were splitting the bowl of soup, but they served it in one bowl, which made it hard to share. They should've split it into two cups or smaller bowls. Giving a 3 star because the place is clean and the service is good I've been there 8 times in 2 months, that's once a week I've been there early lunch, mid lunch / dinner and late dinner Please tell me why I always order the chicken lemon soup and my meal Everytime!!! I ask for my soup first Soup is an appetizer and it's under appetizer on the menu For the love of God why does it always come with my food?! The servers all 8 different ones blame the kitchen Maybe you need an expediter or someone in control of the kitchen 8 times! I will go back to the Greek restaurant down the street It's sad but 8 times?!! Where's the manager? First time here, restaurant is bright and modern but a hint of warm rustic atmosphere. They had great music playing as well! Not loud enough that you have to yell to have a conversation. Everything we got was 10/10. Our server Berlin was amazing and took such good care of us. My chicken plate took about 15 minutes longer to come out but she made sure to take care of us and was very apologetic. Reasonable enough, they were packed and have only been opened for so long. I loved seeing actual Chefs in the kitchen and someone checking every single plate before they got brought out. We had a chef come out and check on us which was refreshing. We were delighted to dine at the Greek Tavern on opening night! The Saganaki was fabulous with imported Greek cheese in filo dough. It was topped with fresh berries and preserves. The Spanakopita (spinach pie) was fresh, flaky, and delicious with the perfect balance of spinach and cheese. The single grilled Shrimp Skewer with fresh pita and tzatziki was flavorful and cooked properly. The gyro platter included a hearty portion of Greek Salad and fries. I have been here about 8 times so far. Making my way through the menu. Everything I've had has been delicious. The spanakopta can be ordered as an appetizers a platter and it is VERY GOOD. The Gelato and sesting area near the dessert bar is so cozy. I have actually come from another restaurant to Greek tavern just for a Gelato or dessert. Love the atmosphere. The food was ok with very large portions, and the ambience was pleasant. I wasn't a fan of the gelato but I could be biased since the last gelato I had was in Italy. The service really stood out thanks to our waitress, who was very attentive and friendly. Parking is limited for a restaurant of this size. I didn't take photos of the other dishes since they were just average however their feta cheese was excellent. We also tried the triple meat platter. read more

My experience at this coffee shop was disappointing, despite my initial excitement from their TikTok videos. I called ahead to order an Iced Spice Banana latte and one of their wraps, which looked appealing. Upon arrival, I opted for the drive-thru due to a lack of parking. When I reached the window, a staff member greeted me and asked for my name. After providing it, I received the wrap, and she informed me that a barista would bring my latte. After a considerable wait, I waved at a blonde staff member to check on my drink. Shortly after, an employee brought it to me. Excellent food! My brother and I were both blown away by our lunch here. He had the baked chicken with roasted potatoes, I had the moussaka. We were both extremely pleased with our orders. It was delicious, and the portion size is plentiful. We ate on the patio which was very nice. There's not much parking in front (we had to wait on a space and the space is really tight), but i think there was more parking in back. Next time I'm in Gainesville, I plan on going back. read more

The restaurant itself is very nice. The decor is super meticulous. Our server so was so kind. The food on the other hand was not so good. I ordered a chicken Marsala and I could not eat it... so flavorless. The sauce was almost gelatinous. My waiter was so kind to offer another meal because she noticed I barely touched my plate. I kindly declined. We then ordered a oreo cheesecake and it was so good. Deserts and coffee I believe are their strong suits. read more

Lexi was our server and made sure everything went well. I had to try the pizza oven, so I had the Greek pizza. My wife had the lemon soup and salmon salad. My daughter had lemon soup and spanikopita. Clean modern interior with a lot of open space. Coffee and dessert bars with a great selection of each. If you are near Gainesville you need to try this new addition to the downtown dining scene. The manager checked on our table a couple of times just to make sure everything was perfect. I look forward to trying more of the menu in the future. read more

The food quality is excellent, but my favorite thing about this restaurant is that it's CLEAN. - Which is hard to find these days. The menu is quite impressive. Wonderful atmosphere- friendly servers/ Food okay I would not recommend the Salmon and Spinach lasagna. It was too bland for my taste. However, the Spanakopita and the Spinach and Artichoke Dip I found scrumptious. The case full of desserts looks mighty inviting, although I did not partake. I wanted so badly to like this. It just opened so I will give it another shot. I got the hummus for an app. It was good. Lemon chicken soup was the best thing I had. I got the shrimp skewers, it came with Greek salad and I got the lemon potatoes. The shrimp was overcooked and very very tough. The salad was okay, hard to mess up a salad. The potatoes were greasy and very mushy. It was $50 for just myself. They don't have alcohol so that was for just food and a soft drink. The ambiance is nice, furniture nice and our server (Daysia sp?) was really attentive and sweet. No complaint there. read more

Horrible service, food is so greasy told server and she said that's the way it served she couldn't care less. We had to ask for refills on our water 3 times. 2 times we had to ask the buss boy as we didn't see our waitress for 15mins. Parking is a nightmare as well. read more

Early dinner on Saturday! We chose to eat on the "screened in" patio. Nice spot! Weather was great! Service was prompt and attentive. Started with Greek Salad. The lettuce was cold, crisp and the vegetables were fresh. Dressing was delicious. For the entree, my wife and I split the 2 Beef Skewers and added Greek potatoes. The beef was well prepared and the potatoes were "fantastic." We finished the meal off with a chocolate brownie. The portions were good size and big enough to share. Once again the owner came by our table to welcome us to the restaurant. Nice touch. The only "hiccup" is the parking is difficult. It would be great if they had a parking attendant on site to help. I tried it for the first time the other day for lunch. Passionfruit lemonade was amazing It tasted freshly made . I had chicken skewers with Greek potatoes. Chicken was delicious very flavorful and potatoes melted in your mouth oh so good! It also came with a Greek salad. Huge portions. Everything was so fresh. Variety on the menu was good. Hard to choose it all was tempting, Very pleasant atmosphere and vibe overall. Our server Amber was friendly and attentive. Dessert and coffee menu looked incredible but did not have room for it. The place was quiet for a Sunday afternoon but they have nice music and games on the television. I can't really speak to the noise level, but it is a nice sized place with a pretty nice bar. I imagine it would be nice on a game day! You should try the hummus and the lamb burger. Both 5/5.

Also the staff is SO friendly and I love the cute little restaurant - they also have a nice patio for when the weather is nice!

It also includes two generous portions of rice, grilled vegetables, and tzatziki. The amount of food is impressive and absolutely enough for two people to share. The meats were tender, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. For dessert, my wife went with the chocolate mousse while I tried the pistachio cake. Both were excellent -- the mousse was rich and smooth, and the pistachio cake had great texture and flavor. One of the highlights for me was actually the mango lemonade. The first sip really stood out -- refreshing, balanced, and surprisingly good. The restaurant itself is very clean with a nice setup and comfortable seating. The owners and staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. You can tell they are proud of what they serve. Parking is easy since it's part of a larger shopping center with plenty of spaces. We both did wish there was some kind of sweetness to complement the cheese like a fruit jam or something, but it was delicious regardless. The beef on the sticks was tasty as was the burger but the star of the whole show were the fries. Hubby typically does not like fries but he loved these and was happy that I let him share them with me. Lol I am not sure what kind of seasoning they had but our taste buds definitely approved. They don't come with the burger but were definitely worth getting on the side. It was a little on the pricey side at about $35-40 more than our typical date night spend for less food, but it was good overall. Too pricey to make it into our weekly rotation, but will be a nice addition to our special occasion options.
