Mediterranean Grill - Veggie plate - Mediterranean Near Me - Athens, Georgia

Ohhhhhh nooooooo!!!! I have been on a Greek food binge for the last 2 years and this place was hands down the worst! The service was ok, the prices were even ok but the food was terrible.... I ordered the falafel wrap with potatoes and my wrap was gummy and tough. My friend ordered a chicken gyro and a salad and she was extremely disappointed. The salad was off putting, with hardly any dressing, one olive and part of a cucumber. It was all very pitiful. When expressing to them how rubbery the pita bread was, the guy just smiled and nodded. I wouldnt recommend this place, it was definitely a waste of money. read more

I don't know much about Greek food, but man did I love every bit of this place. I ordered the falafel plate, my friends got gyro plates, and we all shared the Greek potatoes. Should have taken an after picture, not much was left. We also ate a late lunch on a sunny Wednesday afternoon so we took our time and sat and chat in the back room. I'll 100% be back! read more

Mediterranean Grill - Plates & Potatoes - Mediterranean Near Me - Athens, Georgia

First time here and I ordered the gyro wrap and side Greek salad. The gyro meat wasn't very good, perhaps the least appealing (texture & flavor) I've ever tasted. The pita bread was very very tough, I could barely get it to budge when I took a bite - it was super difficult to get a piece of the pita while eating without physically tearing it off with my fingers. On a positive note the salad was great. It had lettuce, Kalamata olives, feta, cucumber, tomato, pepperoncini pepper, and a simple Greek vinegar dressing on the side. I will definitely try it again someday but order something different that doesn't involve pita bread or gyro meat. read more

Mediterranean Grill - Gyro Wrap, tzatziki, Side Greek Salad, vinaigrette - Mediterranean Near Me - Athens, Georgia

Delicious gyros with tons of flavor and generous portions. Even the small hummus was a huge portion, which was a nice surprise. I ordered through their app and the food was ready earlier than expected and packed well for eating on the go. Great food, good value, and fast service read more

Best Greek food anywhere! Have been here for years and it's awesome . Also very kind staff & it's very clean. Prices are good and great cooks. Wish we had another one like it on the other side of town as well . Thank you for all the great food and kindness . read more

Barely edible food. I love gyro sandwiches. If you can't get this right, stop selling Mediterranean food. This was the worst I ever had, seriously. The wrap was thick, tough, and stale. The meat is supposed to be thinly sliced...it eas in huge overcooked chunks. There was one big wedge of tomato. There were two soggy pieces of leaf lettuce. The whole thing was wet. Their "Greek potatoes" are not Greek potatoes. They're deep fried home fries, completely unseasoned. This was my third time giving this place a chance. Three strikes. Never coming back. read more

Good Gyro, Great Mediterranean salad, good hummus. I was expecting crunchier pita chips though with the hummus and perhaps a warmer, softer pita with the gyro. Sauces, Vinegarrette, and meat held good flavors. The staff was very helpful in recommending what to get as it was my first time at the restaurant. I enjoyed the music playing and the restaurant was very clean and comfortable! You definitely feel as if you transcend overseas when you're in this restaurant. However, be careful with the parking lot outside if you are driving here as space is limited and everything is very close. Not the best Mediterranean food I've had but I would come back when willing to try new dishes! read more

Service can improve, they had an attitude when i ask can they cut my gyro meet off the spit....get my gyro it wasn't semi warmw/ 2 small pieces of lettuce, 1 samll tomato no onions, had to ask for some. They got an attitude about that , now it feel like i i gotta throwup....i would never eat here again, NASTY This in Athens Ga ! read more

Mediterranean Grill - Pic of name - Mediterranean Near Me - Athens, Georgia

I walked in to this place around 1pm on a Tuesday, and there were six guys behind the grill and one person standing waiting. As I was perusing the menu, three more people walked in. There were take-out orders to pick up, utensils working, bags being opened, thank yous, and come agains offered, kitchen banter, grill sounds, delicious warm aromas wafting at you from the open kitchen. My food was fresh, the sauces were tasty, my rice was steaming hot, and the gyro (yee-ro) was amazing! Those guys have a great little place here. There is a nice, spacious room in the back, if you want to get away from the busy front of the restaurant. There is parking in the back, with stairs that lead up to the dining room. This place does not disappoint! read more

Since COVID, I have not been dining in restaurants even though it remains an option in many states. Most of the time I get takeout and simply eat at home. However today I dined on the outdoor patio of the Mediterranean Grill. When I arrived, there were two freshmen college students without masks sitting at a table, but the rest of the patio was empty. I went inside, ordered my food and returned to the patio to wait for my order. The wait was longer than expected because all of a sudden several people descended on the establishment at the same time. All four patio tables filled with people. Thankfully I got my seat just in time. It felt awkward being able to take off my mask to eat in public. The restaurant requires masks, so if you go inside to order, you have to wear one. I wanted to limit my time there without a mask, so I devoured my food quickly. It was delicious and I was hungry, so I didn't take much time. My food was plentiful. I ordered a small salad (tabouli), a small order of baba ghanoush and a gyro. The sandwich was substantial with thick bread and hearty slices of shaved shawarma meat. The tzsaski sauce was balanced throughout so every bite had tasty morsels of sauce and meat. I scarfed down the tabouli first and worked on the baba ganoush last. The heated slice of pita bread they gave me for the baba ghanoush was not enough to eat the cup and a half styrofoam bowl they gave me. I would ask for another slice if you are sharing with others or planning on taking the rest home. It was too much to finish, but it left me happy and full. read more

My mother and I both ordered the chicken kebab platter, which comes with a pita cut into fourths, Greek salad, tzatziki sauce and hot sauce, and a very generous portion of rice. Both of us enjoyed our plates: the chicken and was well-seasoned and grilled to perfection, and the Greek salad had nice and fresh ingredients. The building looks a little dingy on the outside and has almost NO parking, and for the last 10 minutes we were there, two employees were VERY loudly and angrily yelling at each other (not in English, so I don't know what they were actually saying), but other than that, it was a good experience. We'll be back to try the gyro next time. read more

The restaurant is slightly more hidden and has a low key vibe. It looks like there isn't a lot of seating but there is plenty in the back of the restaurant. There's a separate room with bigger tables and with windows for some sunlight. I really enjoyed the calamari, it stayed crispy for the entirety of the meal. The batter also had a nice flavor that paired well with the marinara. The lamb platter was also really good, the meat was tender paired well with the rice and salad. The rice at the bottom of lamb also soaked up the flavor really well. I would skip on the gyro sandwich, I thought the meat was kind of bland and tough. The bread was also slightly stale but the sauce was good. However, I liked the potatoes and they paired well with the tzatziki sauce. The prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were pretty big. I would definitely come back I would just skip on the dishes with gyro meat. read more

Holy wow!!! This is the best middle eastern food you're going to find in GA. We had the gyro and the lamb shank, and they did not disappoint! The lamb fell off the bone and had the best flavor! If you are starving for lunch and want to get your grub on at a low price, this place is it! Food & Price: When I say I was absolutely stuffed by the end of my meal... I was STUFFED. I ordered the Business Lunch Combo, and it had the shish kabob, kufta kabob, gyro slices with rice pilaf, Greek salad, and pita. The meats were well seasoned and the rice balanced the taste. I didn't really touch my salad in favor of eating the rice and meat first, but my boyfriend said the salad felt very refreshing against the heavy taste of the meats. We were so full from the food. It was $8.50 before tax, and I paid for both my boyfriend's and myself so it came out around ~$21 including tip. It's so affordable! Service/Location: We ordered at the counter and picked up our meal on the other end. The guy at the front was quite nice but we didn't interact much. The place has an average noise level and while it was raining outside, it didn't feel at all muggy or humid inside like some places do. Overall it was quite a nice restaurant, fit for casual meals. Mediterranean Grill is also located right on Five Points next to Your Pie and Smoothie King. Overall: 5/5 in terms of price and quality of the food! For $8.50, I got a large meal and a drink where at places like Halal Guy, I'd have to pay $15 for a large entree and drink and still get less amount than what I did at MedGrill. I'm not even a big fan of Mediterranean food in the first place, but MedGrill does it in a way that's so delicious that I can't stop eating there! *Park down the little hill instead of attempting to do it in the front lot. Much easier to maneuver out that way. read more

A great bang for your buck!! The food portions are huge and you will definitely have leftovers to eat later. The hummus was delicious and lemony and the pita was nice and warm to dip in. My boyfriend said that the meat on the combo plate was super tender and delicious! I definitely recommend eating here! read more

I've learned that when it comes to great food, Athens doesn't mess around. The Mediterranean Grill is no exception! The folks running the show wear masks, use hand sanitizers and maintain covid safety protocols. I ordered a falafel wrap w/ Greek potatoes. The portion was big! The flavors were delicious! Greek potatoes are fried squares served with a tzatiki sauce. You can eat them for dayys and still want more. Overall, a great experience. read more

We stopped in here after finding the reviews good on Yelp. We were greeted as we walked in. The menu was posted up on the wall. My daughter and I both had the gyro plate. It had gyro meat, rice, salad, pita, and a spicy sauce and garlic sauce. The portion was large. The lettuce in the salad was nice and fresh. The meat hot great flavor. The tzaziki sauce was very tasty and super garlicky. There won't be any vampires around me for a while. The rice was flavorful also. We were glad we stopped in and I would definitely go back again. It was also nice that several employees thanked us and said goodbye as we were leaving. read more

Ordered through UberEats and was satisfied with the overall packaging. The salad was good, but tomato and cucumber was sliced way too thick. I also wasn't happy to bite into olives with pit, as most places serve pitted olives. The chicken kabob was grilled a little too long, leaving a burnt taste. The rice, pita, and tzatziki sauce were were good. The price seems high for this area, but the serving size was fair. read more

Just off the five points intersection in a small strip center. Parking is a premium up front. They have more parking in the back. You order from the counter on a rather extensive menu offering. They have a lot of appetizers, entrees, salads, and sandwiches or wraps. As noted in other reviews the lunch special is a good deal. We had a Greek salad and the gyro wrap with Greek potatoes. My wife enjoyed the Greek salad, especially the tzatziki dressing. My gyro was good and the Greek potatoes added a nice side. Overall a good dining experience. Great Mediterranean food in Athens! The service is semi-fast food, sometimes you pick up your food when they call your number and sometimes they'll bring it out straight to you. The portions are very generous. The business lunch special is the best thing to get if you don't know what to get. The lunch special consists of shish kabob, kufta kabob, and gyro slices served with rice and a greek salad. The calamari is one of our favorites, it comes out very crispy and we like to add lemon on the side for a little more flavor. The greek potatoes are deep fried and is flavored very well. It's made fresh every time we've come and it takes a little longer, but worth the wait. It's definitely worth to try during lunch. read more

All I'm going to say is Med Grill is a consistent go-to spot within my friend group. We would go here for days in a row if we had the money because it's just that good. The gyro sandwich is definitely my favorite, I've only tried one other thing on the menu, and didn't like it nearly as much as the gyro sandwich. My order is always gyro sandwich with potatoes. If I'm feeling extra, I'll get falafels too! Definitely need to try if you're in the Athens area! read more
