Great place! Well decorated and more of an upscale feel. We enjoy sitting at the bar when we go out. The bartenders were knowledgeable about the drinks and more importantly Bourbon. The drinks were excellent. I had the Lamb flatbread while my wife enjoyed the brisket flatbread. Both were delicious.

The place is Porterdale's new shiny penny....from the outside.

The food was nothing extraordinary. The prices were extraordinarily expensive for the product and location, so the false impression was the menu MUST represent the items listed. I was wrong. However, we chose to go light with a couple of salads, appetizers and a small plate...the Truffle Mac & Cheese Pot Pie to share. My wife had the crostinis & fig relish, an Arugula and Beet salad for her and the pear and gorgonzola salad for me. My wife's salad was just right and not overdone with Balsamic; however my pear and gorgonzola salad was a lot of greens, small chunks of unpeeled, not quite ripe Anjou pear along with chunky gorgonzola cheese. The salad dressing was unremarkable but did nothing to join flavors with the heaviness of the cheese....and not enough large bites of a sweet ripe pear to bring it all together. The Goat Cheese and Fig Crostini was the least expensive item on the order and the most expensive being the Truffle Mac & Cheese Pot Pie for $28. There may have been a squirt of truffle oil on the tough to cut pastry, but that was about the only truffle infusion that I found in this dish. I found no "wild mushrooms" as in the menu description nor the hint of black truffle in the mix. The cheese and pasta was a bit less than hot and probably sat once dished up for as long as the two wines that sat on our end of the bar for 10 minutes. $100 plus gratuity. I have to agree with another reviewer....pick a style of music that goes along with the price range and hide the volume control as a room this large with a very tall ceiling can get very loud between customers and service noise plus "background music." I'm happy we gave the place a try. I had hope that Yellow Rive Ale House was going to be an exceptional evening. It's a tough business that depends quite a bit on return visits....especially when located semi-remotely.

Seeing the reviews, just had to try it. Got there around 4:45 pm. Sat at the bar. Establishment looks nice. Bar tender is friendly. Ordered an Old Fashion. Had to send it back, it was just bourbon, water and ice. Told him to at least add some bitters. Order the Steak Frites, medium with fries. It looks good on the outside, parts were medium, others medium rare making it chewy and bubblegum texture. Fries were over cooked. These were something I would expect from a fast food place. Actually I've had better from those establishments. Order their signature Old Fashioned, not much better than the first other than it was spicy.

1/2 Board has more than full flavor and variety. A must starter. Great compliment to the amazing cocktails!

Amazing first time visiting. Quiet early Saturday lunch allowed for me to roam the restaurant and fully check out the space. We sat in the front which is very sophisticated styling and chic for Porterdale. I love it! Stand out and raise the bar. The bar was excellent with my favorite being The Antidote. Scotch based and don't knock it until you've tried it. Server was nice and answered questions about the restaurant, owner, and future of the business. Looking forward to Yellow River becoming a mainstay in Porterdale.

I loved the look outside/in, it has more of an upscale feel than most places in the surrounding area. The staff were very friendly and the food was good and came out quickly. There were three small tables of people when we walked in and three waitresses. It took 10 minutes for a waitress to greet us and take our drink order (water). It took an additional 7 minutes for us to get our water, that is something we have rarely ever encountered at any establishment especially when a restaurant isn't busy. My burger did not come with the additional bacon I ordered, she forgot. I also asked for ketchup and our waitress never brought it. The negative part of our experience was solely with our waitress.

Yellow River Ale House provides exceptional service in one of the best decorated and designed restaurants in the Newton County/Rockdale County surrounding area. It gives the chic nature of a Buckhead or Midtown restaurant right in our own community. The Mezze sharing plates, dips, board, and starters are a variety of exquisitely tasteful flare that will have you coming back for more (every visitor I have I bring them here). Cocktails are amazing (Moroccan Margarita is my favorite). Lastly, large plates are so good with the Branzino being my absolute favorite (best flavor and taste and deboned by the chef - just pure perfection). Don't wait - get you, your family, and friends (all visitors) to Yellow River Ale House!

    Avo Toast - OMG AMAZING

Absolutely LOVE YRAH!!! I mean, I love @Local, so seeing them create a new place was exciting before I even went! I've visited three times since their soft opening, and all I can say is...WOW! & I'll be a regular for sure! (I think I already am ) Walking up the stairs into the traditional "storefront entry," you open the door and just say, "Wow!" The atmosphere, decor, and cool speakeasy vibe is definitely not expected but very welcome in Porterdale! The layout and multiple seating options are fantastic. Main dining, Full Service Bar, Sports bar, and Patio options Clearly, I was awed by the vibes, but the FOOD is the true showcase!! Chef Eddie Russell, I have not met you yet, but THANK YOU! Thank you for bringing such AMAZING & UNIQUE flavors to our neck-of-the-woods! I have always LOVED Mediterranean cuisine. It is my top 2 favorite flavor profile. EVERYTHING I have tasted so far is top-notch, fresh, eclectic, and tastes soooo good! Photos and descriptions are attached of what I have sampled thus far. I recommend you try it all once! My fav so far? The Avo Toast at Brunch. OMG

The wife and I ate here and absolutely loved it. We got the hummus with lamb and the brisket. Both were absolutely amazing but the brisket was out of this world. Fell apart so easily, juicy, tender, and the flavors were nothing short of mind blowing. The atmosphere is a mix of high end fine dining with high end sports bar. Definitely a place to eat some great food and watch the game. We will definitely be back!

Brisket sandwich on thick toast, made for 2-3 people, w fried egg + potatoes. Good taste, this had a ton of meat + 1 fried egg.

Too pricey for what it is. Food isn't even that spectacular and it seems like it wants to be fine dining but isn't.

Mimosa was nice and refreshing, I would love to come back to try more of their signature drinks and adult juice boxes. Service was also quick and friendly. A must stop on your trip to Covington!

I started with the goat cheese pesto bruschetta for appetizers. The flavors paired well together and it was a decent size. For lunch, my friend and I shared the taco platter, which comes with 9 tacos, chips, salsa, and queso for $35. It's a great price and it was more food than we could finish. The fried shrimp tacos were the best. Shoutout to our waitress for that suggestion! They were crispy, large shrimp pieces, and flavored nicely. We also got the fried fish tacos and the ribeye tacos which were very underwhelming. Unfortunately, the entire taco platter was extremely salty. Even though we drank water throughout, we both left feeling super parched due to how salty it was. This place has potential but I'm not sure I would come back. It might be a good spot to grab a drink and hang out, but I wouldn't come here to eat. Honestly the amazing service is really what stood out and was the saving grace!
