The grits were very good. I requested cheese be added to mine. Since it did not come with my dish. The grated bits on the top could have been excluded. It was delish without the distraction. It added no value. My egg was fried HARD the way I asked. My husband's eggs were scrambled soft the way he likes it. The shrimp and grits were awesome! I would love to try the grilled or sautéed shrimp. Ambience The look inside is not real fancy but it's big open and airy. I can appreciate that for busy times. Coming from NY, they would pile in many more tables. The TVs were adequately placed on the wall for viewing from many angles. The music had us swaying while we ate. Great local place. We absolutely LOVE that we didn't have to go far and somebody in the kitchen KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING! This was a relief from another local place that just dragged us waiting to eat. Three days later we're heading back with a table for 8 during a busier time. We'll get back on that experience later. For this upcoming visit, I tried two days in a row to book a reservation through the website and Yelp and I called. NO SUCH THING! It never happened. For a party of 8 I think a reservation is necessary and walking in shouldn't be an option. WE'LL SEE!!!

The two things I'm truly a fan of are the Bigelow tea selection and the dessert case. I love that they bring out the Bigelow Tea Box so you can actually choose what you want instead of getting whatever random tea bag happens to be in the kitchen. And the desserts come from Alpine Bakery, so that part is always going to get my attention. I finally found a breakfast order I'll actually come back for: Chicken Sausage with Egg and Cheese on a Croissant. I've learned that I need to be VERY specific though. They like to scramble the cheese into the eggs, and I don't want that. I order fried eggs with cheese and ask them to brown the chicken sausage because they're not always consistent with how it comes out. The waffle is decent too. Now the home fries? Stay away from those. They're basically just dry diced potatoes. No real flavor, no moisture, no reason for me to ever order them again. So dry you might choke. Everything else I've had has been okay, not great. The Chicken Alfredo needs help. I have to add Parmesan, salt, and pepper, and I wasn't a fan of the texture of the chicken. The Fried Catfish lacked flavor for me. And the pancakes? HUGE. Think dinner-plate huge. Unfortunately, they're also too dense for my taste, so being the size of my head doesn't really help. I will absolutely give Broadway Diner credit for cleanliness. They're constantly vacuuming, wiping down tables, turning them over, and keeping things moving. Considering how busy this place stays, they know how to handle a crowd. Service is okay, but I wouldn't call it stellar. For me, it's 3 stars. I know the parking lot and dining room would probably argue with me because this place stays busy, but I can only rate it based on what keeps me coming back. Right now, that's tea, dessert, my very specifically ordered chicken sausage croissant, and maybe a waffle.
