Great cafeteria-style food. We've eaten at Longstreet on several occasions when visiting Gainesville. The most recent trip was for Thanksgiving. There was a long line, but the wait wasn't that bad. There's a large parking lot next door so parking wasn't an issue. The meat and veggies are good. It is my understanding that the vegetables are vegan, they don't add meat for flavoring. They have a good salad bar, but some items are difficult to reach and it slows down the line. Extra long tongs or working on the layout might help with the salad bar. The staff are pleasant and they wait on the tables bringing drink refills and so forth. read more

Fried chicken, creamed corn, fried okra and mashed potatoes and gravy were pricey and cold. Not impressed.

Stopped by for lunch first time here and enjoyed this cafeteria style serving. Many selections to choose from as you go thru the line. My wife had a large salad, chicken tenders with butter beans and a corn muffin. Said the butter beans were the best she has had in a long time. I had the chicken fried steak with brown gravy, green beans, French fries and a small salad. Steak was very good, every item is a la carte. Service is excellent the staff is always on the floor busing tables, helping customers and cleaning every thing. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant seems as though many of the customers know each other. Will be back again. read more

My wife likes their chicken livers so we UBER order them every other Thursday. Unfortunately, almost half the time the order is wrong. Either they don't put any gravy on the mashed potatoes or they are missing something we paid for. Tonight, they gave use two orders of mashed potatoes, one with gravy (not enough for the amount of potatoes) and a one just plain. They didn't send my stuffed baked potato which is a rip off. Food is 4 star/ Service is one. read more

Good ole fashioned southern style cafeteria buffet. I have never experienced one until Longstreet, and all expectations I had going in were exceeded. The greens were probably my favorite, but everything was delicious. I would highly recommend trying if you are in the area. I enjoyed this unique experience, and it left me wanting to come back and try more of their food. read more

Oh my my....Longstreet Cafe is truly a sitdown place where you find all of the fixings buffet style. Don't be discouraged by the long line of cars when you get into the parking lot. Just check the lanes and see that these cars are all doing the drive-thru. We went inside, got a tray, and started to fill up our bowls with salad and a super thick chicken noodle soup. It was hard to pass up fried chicken and beef and fish and mash potatoes and green beans on the plate. Choose wisely and watch the volume as it can easily become a full platter of scrumptious Southern Style/Gainesville GA style eating frenzie. Longstreet is a one dipper help yourself line, and at the far end, a helpful crew will take your tray to the table whilst the cashier adds up all the items of your plate separately. Four of us ate like royalty, and the drinks were refillable. It was a fun dinner at Longstreet Cafe as we listened to a single musician belting out familiar tunes on his clarinet and wind instruments. read more

Its cafeteria style but coffee refills are by waitress who are very friendly and quick to serve. Ambiance is casual cafeteria style. I went in a Wednesday and the breakfast was large . The rice was cold the chicken breast was not fully cooked. The pieces of chicken were smaller than usual . We eat here 2 or 3 days week.

Greatly overrated in my opinion, not nearly worth waiting in the line that blocks the road every day. It reminds me of high school food, because 50% of the food here comes out of a can and the other half comes from a bag. But if you're feeling hungry for "country food" it's not terrible read more

I have come thru DT twice now to get food. First was a Country Fried Steak which was cold and limply. Today I went thru Dt and ordered a wing and thigh and it was cold. I now have spent over $20 for horrible food. Maybe inside is better but don't have but 30 minutes for lunch read more

On Tuesday I ate dinner at Longstreet I order bake fish salad and sweet potato while eating I felt a hard piece of what I thought was oat topping from sweet potato stuck to my braces..I brought food back immediately because I was far from location I was instructed to talk to owner Tim next day... When I spoke to owner he wanted me to speak back to night manager.. manger told me it's nothing they can do because unfortunately these things happen and it could of came from a customer or someone working with them.I have eating her several time, a very loyal customer But to know they don't take customer complaints seriously is crazy read more

Best breakfast in Gainesville and it isn't close. A good country breakfast is hard to beat and even though it may be bad for your cholesterol the food offered here takes me back to my grandmothers house in south Georgia. Any sort of breakfast order you could make, short of French toast they have. It doesn't matter if you want to sit down or hit the drive through it becomes pretty obvious pretty fast by the lines why this food is so amazing. What can ya say about a place where you can gather a large crowd, sit for hours, and see old friends as they come through. That is the heart of the Longstreet Cafe. The food is good too. Very homey kind of country cooking, served buffet, or cafeteria style. Portions can be high, and free refills to drinks. The meat is charged by the piece, and vegetables and starch by the bowl and item. Turn around of food is high, so they are always fresh. This restaurant is amazing! It has quickly become a regular breakfast spot. The price is incredible compared to the amount of food you get. The drive-thru always has a long line, but it moves very quickly. Everyone has always greeted us with a smile and has been very pleasant. Inside is just as pleasant as well. Went through the drive thru and ordered a fried chicken biscuit w/ hashbrowns. The fried chicken is seasoned but is soggy, like it wasn't fried well. The hashbrowns are subpar nothing special. The biscuits are good though and the drive thru service was pleasant. read more
