Love love love the ambiance. It is fun, vibrant, and playful. Such a great hang out spot. They have lawn games and it is perfect for groups. They offer a wide variety of Hawaiian food. Really cute little place to hang out if you have time. Bright, airy, open. They have outdoor seating as well with lawn chairs and lawn games. We went for breakfast and got the breakfast combo with a slider with Portuguese sausage. The sandwich was sweet. It had sweet bbq sauce on it. I chose a drink instead of coffee and had a lemonade. Aside from being really sweet, it had a good taste. We also tried the combo with bacon which was good. They answered our questions about different menu items and were very nice. Came back and this time made sure to get the extra egg on my Loco Moco, and it was fantastic! I joined the club and got a free soft serve - strawberry/guava - a great finish to my delicious meal. I do wish they had real silverware. Self serve is great, but not only does it feel cheap to eat with a plastic fork, it's hard to cut meat, and you are creating more plastic waste in this world for every customer you serve. Dine in silverware or earth friendly silverware would be a huge plus. read more

They have a drive-thru and dine in. I will be bringing my entire family for dinner another time. The ambience is like you're in Hawaii and laying out on the beach. Their drink bar is all you can drink and mix it with any exotic island flavor that you like. I mixed the strawberry guava, pineapple, sweet tea and water it down with some water because I can't have too much sugar. My daughter mixed hers with lychee lime, sweet tea, and orange. Absolutely amazing vibes. Captures the relaxing tropical atmosphere, and the smells are just great. My wife and I got two types of sliders (chicken and spicy bulgogi) and the flavor was outstanding. I had a phenomenal experience! From the first moment we drove up. This place looks like a resort and we were transported to a topical destination. It's so cool and worth the long drive. Someone came outside to greet us and take our picture. Come to find out it was one of the managers, Stephanie who was super sweet and accommodating. I told her it was our first time and she shared to enjoy ourselves. We walked on the patio first and have so much fun with the swinging chairs and the bean bag toss. It was very family friendly and inviting. We stood in line for just a few mins to review the menu and ended up subscribing for our free dessert. I couldn't decide between the steak or burger but the cashier/hostess, Rebecca made the recommendation of the steak. She was so patient with my son wondering around and messing with the cups lol We got the fries along with the chicken kids meal. The steak was just as she described, marinated in the teriyaki juices! Amazing! I'm a Philly girl and never thought of a sweet cheese steak but with the Hawaiian buns these sliders did it for me! The fries were crispy but they did lack flavor. What do you do when you're back to Gainesville from the SoCalifornia?.... ofcourse you stop at the Hello Hilo for a bite to eat. Three of us and it's been a long year. The outside is just what I remember and the insides has some great flavored Hawaiian lemonade. Every item on the menu is a good choice. The lovely missus opted for the Teriyaki Steak Sliders and then number one son had the same sliders and a bowl of Hawaiian Chili. My choice when in Hawaii would be the Loco Moco and so be it here in far away Gainesville. We had made them all combos so we could sample all the different drinks and the POG is always a favorite. We could not leave unless we got a Spam Musubi to go as well as a Glazed Mochi Donut and two each Classic Malasadas. Hello Hilo was a fun lunch and we were glad to have returned. read more

While the food is visually appealing and the ambiance is very cute, the food tasted very very bad. I got the chicken salad. The chicken was disgusting, chewy , and brown, and I couldn't eat it. The dressing was sour and they didnt put the avocado on the salad. The worker recommended the rice as the side saying it was the best. It tasted like eating soft cardboard, so if that's the best side I'd be very concerned to try the others. Additionally- I think I read it is created/owned by the makers of Kings Hawaiian Rolls- Beautiful design and decor, unique (yummy)food options, friendly service and convenient location make this a highly recommended spot. I had the Huli huli chicken bowl and my husband had the spicy bulgogi sandwich with hurricane fries, dole whip and POG drink. The bowl was flavorful and delicious. Our first visit was amazing. My husband ordered this pork bowl with cilantro, onion, and rice. I order the Korean bbq steak sliders and a few pineapple and coconut mochi donuts. I'd say don't bother with the fries, we ate here twice and each time, the fries were stale and luke warm. The environment is cool, clean, colorful, and plenty of seating. Drove over an hour to try this place for lunch because of the hype on IG and TKTK. I've been to Hawaii several times and know good Hawaiian food and this wasn't it. I had the Loco Moco and was really disappointed. The egg was overcooked...no runny yolk at all. The hamburger was covered in panko and either deep fried or baked with no flavor other than dry panko crumbs. The brown gravy tasted like it was from a giant carton with no taste. The Jasmine rice with tomato salsa was the best thing from my bowl. My wife had the Crispy Mochiko Chicken bowl with no real complaints. My daughter had the Lava Spicy Steak Bulgogi bowl. This was good, but it is spicy as in the name. It is filling too, but will definitely leave your mouth on fire! For drinks, we had two Hawaiian Lemonades and one Macadamia Nut Latte. All drinks were good, but the lemonades are extremely sweet. Add a lot of ice or mix with water to dilute the sweetness. The lady working the register was nice, but very soft spoken and she got my order wrong initially. I ordered two combos, but never received the fries and it didn't dawn on me until we were finished. We stopped by here after the Atlanta Lantern Boat Festival around 7pm on a Saturday night. I LOVE the ambiance here. It's so festive and relaxed and beautiful. I really wish this was closer to Atlanta. I enjoyed everything we tried. To be honest, we didn't eat any "real" food, except for a cheese spam musubi, which was great! Had to go to Lake Lanier for an event and this was my first chance to go to this place. This cute little place certainly has the Hawaii-feels/vibes to it. Got here pretty early in the morning and ordered the Hawaiian hot chocolate and a couple of lattes. Was told they didn't have the hot chocolate, which was kind of surprising. Went for the hot mocha instead (which was fine) but still disappointed they didn't have the Hawaiian hot chocolate. Ordered a few dozen mochi doughnuts for the kids and parents and everyone certainly enjoyed them. We've eaten here several times and I have finally ventured out and tried something new, but I want to also share some new things they have incorporated. They now have a loyalty program! Like everywhere else, you just enter your phone number to earn points on your purchase, but you get a free hula whip when you sign up. They also now have a variety of amazingly delicious drinks! It used to just be fountain and their own (my favorite) Hilo Island sweet tea, but now you can get their handcrafted POG (pineapple orange Guava), blue Hawaiian, strawberry guava, lychee lime, lilikoi orange, pineapple, and pineapple lihing as alternatives to soda! All are delicious, but I love the POG and lilikoi orange the best. They also have some new longboard sliders. You can now get your loco moco on a slider, but I tried the teriyaki burger longboard slider and it's my new favorite and I'm not a burger kind of girl! We are going to try some of the new mochi donuts like lemon coconut and Georgia peach. Can't get enough of this place, and now there's even more to enjoy. Can't lie, I wasn't a fan. As with most restaurants, Hello Hilo came up on social media as a suggestion for a good eatery "that I really needed to go try if in the Atlanta area". Well I drove a hour and half out my way to go see what they were about. Upon walking in the restaurant is spacious, bright, and eye appealing. No one was at the cashier station , so we weren't greeted but that also gave us time to review the menu. After deciding we were ready to order, about 5 minutes, we had to ask an employee that was cleaning in the lobby area how we or who we order food with. He said "with the cashier" but when he look up no one was at either register and end up taking our order with the same gloves he was using while cleaning. Luckily he wasn't the one grabbing/serving the food. It was kind of hard making a decision but we end up ordering the Teriyaki burger, hula Hulu chicken tacos, fries, macaroni salad, and of course drinks. When we got the food, the fries were cold. We had asked for the to be cooked crispy, and it was apparent that request was not entertained. After mentioning something to another employee, we were brought a fresh cooked order of fries. Which we didn't like the taste of. After a couple more bites, we came to the conclusion that they cook the fries in sesame oil. And or the seasoning they put on the fries has sesame base. Ketchup fix the taste of them. The Teriyaki burger came as 3 sliders. But of the 3 Hawaiian rolls, 2 had sufficient meat, the third was just bread. The taste of those 2 burgers actually was good. Now with the chicken tacos, they had a crispy tortilla shell that incased chopped chicken bites, lettuce, and some type of aieoli sauce. They were alright tasting, I wouldn't purchase again. The mac salad was tasteless. Fix that with a little black pepper sprinkles and a little salt. Last item to discuss is the lemonades. I tried four of them before settling with the sweet tea. It was okay, I should have added ice to cut the sweetness. I really went with high hopes because looking at pictures online and in that video short, the food look really good. But overall, I wasn't wowed enough to say, its worth the trip from Atlanta to visit. I left feeling unsatisfied and unfulfilled. Luckily it only cost $30 for what was ordered. read more

I also received an over easy egg but I paid for a fried egg. I tried the Hello Hilo rice bowl. That was pretty decent. The grilled chicken lacked flavor. The kalua pork was absolutely delicious. The crispy mochiko chicken wasn't crispy at all but was still decent. The yuzu lime aioli saved it. The Malasadas were basic. The lychee lime cream filling was really good. We walked in and from the time we met the cashier things went totally sideways. The girl had no idea about the food that she was selling. We asked what the sushi type rolls were, and she could not even explain that they were spam rolls. The specials that they were running, she had no clue as to what they were and they were stated on the menu in the lobby. When we finally turned around to leave, they never ask us what was wrong. Hello Hilo! Finally got to check out Hello Hilo. The minute you pull up to the building, you can't help but smile. I love that they have a drive-thru option. We ordered two bowls- Lava steak bulgogi and Huli Huli chicken. It was fresh and bright. We ate every bit of it. I especially liked the lava steak bulgogi bowl. The udon paired so well with the bulgogi. Sauce was fire. So tasty and not super spicy. I appreciated how the Huli Huli chicken bowl came with all the fresh toppings. The chicken was tasty. We also got the spam musubi. Packaging was cute and it was gone in 60 seconds. They sell a variety of desserts too! Wish we got more. Got one malasada. Some of our friends gave Hello Hilo a great review. Looking for a place to eat in Gainesville today we thought we would give it a try based on those reviews. The building and the room are very nice, colorful, and welcoming. The whole space is great. I ordered the hamburger patties as a combo with the rice upgraded to the Hawaiian fried rice. I think the fried rice was a bad choice, it had way too many valors happening and that swamped out the gravy flavors. Would have been better with white rice. The patties themselves had a thick breading on them. They had ok flavor but too much breading. The seasoned crinkle fries were good. Overall I think a better idea would be unbreaded meat patios over the Vries with gravy. Yes, that is Hawaiian poutine I just invented. The portions were huge. Megan had the bulgogi sliders. I got the Huli huli chicken bowl, my mom got the Hilo noodle bowl (cold noodle bowl), and my dad go the teriyaki sliders. The Huli Huli chicken was good. Huli Huli means rotated on a spit (rotisserie ish style) marinated/glazed chicken. This was fine but it was like terriyaki chicken. Not like the huli Huli I got on the way back from the beach in Hawaii. It was good, I wish it was real loli lomi (pickled salmon/tomato side). I wish there was a traditional Kalua pork plate with lomi lomi, slice of taro (Okinawa/purple Japanese sweet potato), and rice plate. Probably one of my favorite things to have while I lived there. My mom had the Hilo bowl. She loved it. They are cold noodles but she loved the some noodles so much she looked up how to buy them and cook them herself. They mention avocado and carrot etc in her bowl but those items were very sparsely added. My dad had the best, the star of the show- the Hawaiian bread sliders. The owner of this establishment is an original owner of the king Hawaiian bread brand we all love. I think this is the thing to order when you're here. Slam dunk kind of meal. He had a POG (passion fruit-orange-guava) juice. He loved it. Like a nectar-juice which was super tasty. I loved musubis so I grabbed some while I was here. I liked them and liked the spam ones as well but if you don't like spam maybe don't get them. But they are a Hawaiian classic and a great post/pre beach/workout snack! Li hung Mui is a plum seasoning kind of has a natural "sweet/sour" flavor. And they had li hing pineapple here. Super tasty! They had malasadas (Hawaiian donuts) they have them all as filled donut options, which looked great. They had mochi donuts (not gf) but delicious. They had dole whips and shave ice (typically option to be served with some sweetened condensed milk on top called a "snow-cap.")which is delicious but not a choice here Overall good food, nice location wish it had more local Hawaiian favorites but I've been told the sliders were the thing to get.
