Street corn was good, could not tell you what was in it. The ambiance was cool at one time but needs some care but I see they are moving. Maybe will be nicer. Came here today with a friend after getting recommended for it. Honestly I'm so glad I did. The outside had plenty of parking and inside the restaurant was a great vibe. The service was fast and I could immediately tell the food was going to be good from all the smoke I smelt in the dining room. Not in a bad way but that good bbq smell lol. Our food came out and it was extremely proportional for 17$ you get a huge plate of food that will definitely fill you up. I loved the twist on the Mac n cheese and the brisket was so juicy. The place is nice and clean inside. I was surprised by the number of flies buzzing around though. The menu is very, very limited. It's on a chalkboard to your right when you walk in. Don't expect a warm reception. The food was very good. I had the pulled pork sandwich, and collard greens. Their collard greens are a little unique, but among the best I've ever had. The sandwich was fine. A little bland, and even drenched with sauce there wasn't a lot of flavor. The bread on the sandwich was excellent! Very good choice for what can be a soggy sandwich. When you walk in they have a large chalk menu board. Be aware that these prices are a little bit lower than what you are being charged as they haven't updated it. You order at the bar and they give you a buzzer when the food is ready for you to come back to the bar to pick it up. I had the triple threat sandwich and it was quite good. Chose a side of baked beans and they were awesome. Their house made barbecue sauces were the weak spot for me. They have one tomato based sauce and it's sweet and IMO not very good as it has an overwhelming flavor of cinnamon. They have two vinegar based sauces, one is sweet and the other spicy and I didn't like these either. And they also have a Carolina mustard sauce which I didn't try. First time here. They do brunch on Sundays but they do offer the bbq sandwich. I got the brisket sandwich with beans. The sandwich had a drizzle of a spicy green sauce on top ( if you don't like spicy make sure to leave that off) the brisket was tender and chopped. The beans have meat in them like a stew style. They offer a few different bbq sauces I choose the sweet. We also got the inked pig breakfast. The sausage patty was huge as well as the biscuit! I came here as a back up to my favorite BBQ and by the way the best BBQ in the area, Smokehouse BBQ which unfortunately after 40 years has closed. I found this spot on YELP of course . The location is unassuming and is truly a BBQ joint. The menu is in the chalkboard when you come in and you order at the bar . There is ample dining in the dining room with both high and low tables. The restaurant was clean and was not very busy on a Saturday at 4. There is plenty of easy parking either on the street or the adjacent lot. I ordered the 2-meat combo , chicken and pork with my 2- sides of slaw and stew. This is my go to Order when first trying a BBQ restaurant. The slaw was house made and was a rough long cut style. The dressing was a vinegar based slaw with very little mayo. Not enough mayo for my taste and sort of bland. The stew was heavy with meat and a little corn . In that way it is true Brunswick stew and not vegetable soup. It had what to me seemed to be a predominance of chili pepper and barbecue sauce for flavoring. Again decent but not the best I've had and I wouldn't order it again if I came back. The pork was moist and the portion was normal but it was overly salted. Very heavy salt presence when I tasted it . I tried to temper the brine by adding the spicy bbq sauce which is a vinegar influenced concoction which was a little runny and lacked a lot of flavor other than vinegar. The meat had a mild smoked flavor and would have stood alone without the sauce sans the salt. The chicken portion was a smallish thigh and the wing drumette and not a regular leg like most places. The flavor was fine but again nothing to excite me to order it again. All in all this is serviceable barbecue but not noteworthy as some. I may give them a second chance if I am just in the area but I wouldn't drive from Gwinnett with this as my BBQ destination as would others. read more

We came upon this place when we were walking around Gainesville, GA and a local recommended it to us. It was a few miles away; in a more industrial area near the railroad tracks. The Inked Pig is basically a breakfast & lunch spot that roasts their meat daily; and when they're out, they're done for the day. It is a small place. You order at the counter and then take a number to your table. There are a few picnic tables outside and a dining area inside. The decor is eclectic with funny signs and vintage pieces. There are only about 8 different items on the menu. All are unique and rather large portions. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU IF YOU ARE ON A DIET! I ordered the bananas foster pancakes, and I was amazed at how big they were! There were 3 of them, and they took up the entire serving tray. The pancakes were light & fluffy with a yummy banana saucy top. They did need a little extra syrup which was brought out quickly when I asked for it.....and a great bargain at $10. My husband had another unique menu option; The Trainwreck. It was a Belgian style waffle covered with pulled pork, syrup & powdered sugar. He really liked it and said it was a great pairing of savory & sweet. My sister had the Inked Pig Breakfast which consisted of 2 eggs, bacon, grits, and a biscuit. She said the grits were pretty good and the eggs & biscuit were just ok. The bacon on the other hand she thought was delicious....I tried it and I agreed. I had been wanted to come here. Well I ordered catering for a class I coordinate. Well it was not cheap but worth every penny! We ordered pork, chicken, mac and cheese, corn, and slaw. The chicken was the stand out to me! Everything was good. Slaw was plain but fine. All the sauces were good. But the mustard sauce was to die for! Great set up by the staff. The first time we went we loved everything. The ribs and okra are phenomenal. Brunswick stew was good. Sweet sauce is nice. The second time we made a mistake getting the collard greens. They are sweet as heck. We can't stand collard greens that have sugar added and these had so much they almost tasted like a dessert! The "southern creamed corn" is basically canned corn with some kind of thick sauce that has herbs and peppers in it. It tasted okay but definitely was NOT what I would consider "southern style" which would basically just be fresh corn scraped off the cob with the corn cob milk and a little butter or bacon grease and salt and pepper. I'd say this corn is more southwestern style, not southern. We will stick with the fried okra and Brunswick stew from now on. Also, my ribs were mostly bone this time. Very little meat. Pretty expensive for two people at nearly $60 with tip. At least my husband's ribs had more meat on them. read more

If Yelp would allow it, I would give 4.5 stars. We've been wanting to try this place and we were finally in Gainesville at a time we could! Loved the whole vibe of the place, and we will definitely return. The food was delicious. I had turkey, the hubs had pork. Both had amazing flavor. For sides, we ordered slaw and mac and cheese. Typically we share the sides between us. The slaw - "southern slaw" - is definitely not southern, as it is a vinegar base and very chunky. It was not to our liking, but you don't know until you try. The mac and cheese was some of the best we've had. I had to order another side of it because it became clear we were NOT going to be able to share (not because the portion wasn't big enough, but because we each wanted it all to our self). The sweet sauce seems to have a apple base to it - maybe some apple butter or applesauce in it? It was amazing, we both liked it. I even mixed some of the vinegar sauce in to tweak the flavor just a bit. I brought what was leftover home. Just a few minor cons - 3.99 for a soda is just too much. The 'pulled' pork was more of a rough chop, not really pulled, and we weren't fans of the slaw. The sauce is served in single serve containers and it's a .50 charge for each additional sauce. read more

It smelled delicious as soon as we pulled up (parking is a little tight, but still possible) and walked in. We were greeted by the most positive hostess I've ever met!! Joy seems to really love her job and she checked on us quite frequently after we placed our order. She was also was very open about the flavors and recommended customer favorites. This girl could sell my own car to me!! The dining area is a little tight, however very nice and warm and open. Now onto the food...PHENOMENAL. Everything was fall off the bone, and the ribs were probably the best I've ever had in my life!!!. My husband and I got the half sleeve which had five meats, three sides, And five different sauces to try. Everything was delicious and had a unique smokiness to it that I can't exactly describe. The sauces were VERY unique and complimented the food well. The desert was also delicious!! Who would have thought peanut butter with banana pudding would be so good?? Smoked Pork Butt, Barbacoa Smoked Beef Brisket x2. For sides I got Southwestern Style Cream Corn, and beans. The meat does not require any sauce. It was fantastic all by itself. I especially enjoyed the brisket but the pork was awesome as well. The corn was amazing. Just not something you can get many places. One of the folks in out party had his meal missed. The smoked chicken & turkey breast were good as well. There were 3 of us that went to together. We tried almost all of the sides. The Brunswick stew was too sweet for my liking. The fried okra was frozen & heated up. Baked beans were ok. Cole slaw was REALLY good!! Creamed corn was not like any creamed corn I'd had before. I thought it was pretty expensive, but you got a lot of food. Be prepared to pay extra if you want more sauce as well. The little 1oz cups they give aren't enough!! Oh, we only tried the white barbecue sauce (they call it the Bama sauce), if you've never had it, it was pretty good there, but if this is what you prefer & have eaten it many places, then it was ok.
