We went to Skogie's on a Friday night in June. We had only been there once before with a large group and wanted to enjoy a meal by the lake. This night, they had live music and dinner specials. We ordered the appetizer special which this night it was Boudin Balls - sausage and shrimp with cheese, rice and Cajun seasoning, battered and fried. For our meals, we ordered coconut shrimp (and upcharge from Gulf Shrimp platter) and my boyfriend ordered the dinner special, Cajun seafoood pasta - spaghetti with a Cajun Alfredo sauce with octopus, calamari, shrimp, scallops, and clams. All the food was absolutely FANTASTIC and the service was phenomenal as well. We had our order taken, appetizer, and food in under 15 minutes. We were so impressed with the specials, and their portion sizes were huge. We couldn't stop talking about our meal when we got home - we will be back! read more

Took our dog to this small but wonderful little grill overlooking the lake. Staff was so incredibly nice! They made us feel so special. Brought a personalized white wine smoothie for my wife and a spot of mojito for me. Grouper was tasty and black beans and yellow rice was excellent with a touch of spice for a little kick. Views of marina and lake are fantastic. Dog loved all the attention and ability to go inside instead of just on the porch was a win win. We ate on porch for the benefit of the lake view as it was so nice outside. Will return for sure!!!! read more

We have so many fond memories of great meals but things have changed. We ordered the sampler platter. The french fries and 3 fried shrimp were the best part. The Clam strips were bits and pieces and overcooked. The Crab balls and hush puppies were under cooked. The Blackened "Grouper" was way too salty. Broccoli salad had a odd flavor as did my water. The $5 draft beer was cold. Kudos for calling the Grouper what it is on their menu... Asian Pangasius aka Swai Fish. Very disappointing to know that quality has taken a back seat to profits. The service was excellent. Alesha did a great job. The atmosphere was great. The brunch was average. The shrimp was great, the pancake was good, and the jalapeño poppers were spicy. The food was not hot, which was a bummer. Do not order the virgin Pina Coladas. They were not good even after they were remade. I do not think we will get the brunch again. read more

Skogies is a staple on the north end of Lake Lanier, and we are fortunate to have our boat here in the same marina. They have plenty of parking, beautiful scenery, great outdoor seating, spurts of live music, great food, and solid service. We have eaten with these folks many times, and in the event of any issues, they ALWAYS make it right; you can't ask for more. On a parting note, I have never had a bad item from their menu, but their Buffalo chicken sandwich is my favorite dish. It is super good! The buffet was not good. The hosts said that Sundays are only a buffet option from 9-2. Soggy food, it's hot outside so the sauces for example are not on ice - warm tartar. There is also a tacked on charge of $6.38 that state Army Corps of Engineers, which I've not seen on Pig Tails or Fish Tails. The docks outside were broken up with holes and rotted wood. Very dangerous to dock your boat. If you can find a decent spot, it's nice for beers. They don't serve mixed drinks. This place has potential. The wait staff is awesome. read more

They have really done a beautiful remodel of the outside seating and the ambiance is fantastic! They are pet friendly :) And the menu is filled with so many delicious choices! Great first experience at Skogies last weekend! Our service was superb and our food and drinks came out quick. The Miami Vice frozen drink with a floater hit the spot - beware as these are not made with actual liquor (made with wine liquors) but still tasty. The crab ball appetizer is a must. The gumbo is also tasty. To eat I had the buffalo chicken sandwich with mac n cheese casserole. The mac n cheese lacked flavor but the sandwich was large and delicious. Cute little place I didn't even know was here. Buffet style Sunday brunch. Food was pretty good. Hostess was completely rude. To the point that my daughter said she almost started crying. The girl behind the buffet opened the containers. I grabbed one of the tongs to grab some food and she jerked the tongs out of my hand and said "you can't do that, we have to". She shot the poor girl behind the serving counter a dirty look and I thought she might cry. This hostess didn't seem happy and it showed in every person she greeted. The food and service and ambience is great. A lot of times they have entertainment and singers the people that own the place. Toney is fantastic people who care about every person there he supports our police in our military with a big banquet to raise money for them. They are worth spending your money at it all goes to great causesand Toney and his wife work there opening hour to closing hour making sure everything is right for the customers. I don't give out many 1 star reviews, but unfortunately this restaurant deserves one in all categories across the board: food, service, atmosphere. We sat outside on the back porch by the bar - The atmosphere could be considered quaint....to me it looked like somebody's run down house down a long dirt road with lots of junk laying around the yard. They have a bunch of mismatched rusty furniture and yard ornaments: not super inviting, but we were in a chill mood for breakfast, so everyone in our party commented on the eccentricity and sat down to eat. The 1 star service began with extremely extended wait time to get coffee (delivered to everyone without ordering ($2.50) and no juice or other drinks offered), proceeded by long delays in getting our food ordered, one of our party's order getting missed completely, asking for butter four times, etc - everyone was exasperated. I could overlook all of this if the food was great - unfortunately it was the opposite of great. Sausage gravy out of a can. Hash browns that were tough and literally seemed like they could break your tooth. Waffles that were so tough you had to saw them with a knife. French toast that was bland and tasteless. I could go on. Not sure how this establishment obtained a 3.5 star review, but I assure you that nobody in our party will be back. read more

Need to replace the docks. It is not a bad place to go but so many people will not go because the docks are so bad. Also more fans on the patio and outside would help. The little tiny fans they have are no good they need large fans to move the air. With these 2 changes this place will probably double their business. They are getting an entire new kitchen soon and hopefully will add a few other items to their menu and quality of the food will get better as well. I really wanted more from this restaurant. When my family is out on the water, Skogies is more convenient because it's north. The day we went, we were the first and only ones there for a bit. The service was slow and the food took forever, which was weird since it was just us. After waiting that long for lunch we were starving and hoping for something delicious, unfortunately the food was over cooked and very bland. Went for sunday breakfast buffet. They were super nice, the vibe was nice, live music was low key and pleasant, the host/servers/waitress were all very nice. Lots of food options. The fish and shrimp had no business being as good as they were for a buffet. Damn good. The eggs Benedict over grouper was way better than I anticipated. The French toast was good. The biscuits were friggin excellent. Everything was hot and seemed fresh. The gravy was decent. The price was fair. The location was pleasant. Pancakes were meh, but not bad. I didn't try the gritz or bacon or sausage but it all looked decent. I wish the coffee was included, but it was an an extra charge, but I will say that it was good coffee and they gave me a cup to go. The restrooms were clean. The eggs were the low point, I think they may have been powdered eggs. But with all the offerings I can't really complain too much about that. I can't wait to go again. We used to love this place. We had been coming here for over 15 years and will never be back. I've never been treated so poorly not just by restaurant staff but by anyone ever. There was a delay in our food by over a hour and instead of being understanding or helpful the owner and his wife were immediately defensive and insulting. They caused a scene in front of everyone when we told them we had been waiting and wanted our food prioritized since we saw table after table that came after us get their food (including a party of 12 that sat 45 min after us). Everyone had excuses instead of being helpful or trying to fix the situation (like that they gave our orders to the wrong table but then didn't remake the food) and got angry when we brought it up to them. You can even see how the owner responds to other reviews that he has no customer service, throws accusations and is defensive, even when the reviewer is truly giving constructive criticism or general things the restaurant could improve on. The food has always been mediocre but we would go becuase it was one of the few restaurants you can get to by boat and their skogies sauce was good but save yourself the headache and instead drive to the south end to Pelican Pete's or Pig Tales. The owners (and almost all of their staff that they clearly train to be awful humans as well) absolutely should not be in a customer facing field or anything where you have to interact with people. The old owners were wonderful and made this an inclusive, welcoming, and fun place but it has never been the same since they left and definitely isn't a place we will support anymore. read more
