We were seated quickly and greeted promptly but it's all downhill from here, unfortunately. We did not receive our croissants until after our appetizer, which was barely warm and we had to remind our server about. We then waited at least half an hour after ordering our food to receive it, and my fiancé received the wrong food. It was easy to fix, just picking stuff off of a burger, and the server did have it corrected on the ticket, but again the food was barely warm. His fries were clearly old and left untouched. My country fried steak was okay, the carrots were lukewarm and the potatoes too. It was busy but not swamped, and the people around us had different servers and didn't seem to have as long of a wait, so I'm wondering if maybe our server was just slow or overwhelmed. Can't turn down the buttered croissants. Chicken pot pie and the pork chops are always a crowd favorite. While the place is kept pretty clean - the staff is constantly vacuuming - but they can be put off when you are sat in their section. They will leave the vacuum out in the way of walking, including the chairs they are cleaning under. We'll be back to other Cheddar's and probably this one too if we are in town. read more

Our trip to this Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen was exactly one year ago. We are back in Gainesville and Cheddar's is high on our list for dinner. It was easy parking and we were seated at a nice booth. The menus were handed out and we were met by an outstanding server named Nickie. She was the best. It is Not easy to make sure that all the specific orders to bring a Vegetable Plate from the kitchen that was exactly as needed and desired. Yes, the menu has what we want, number one son knows the Country Fried Steak with Texas toast and gravy and Broccoli Casserole is a winner. The lovely missus had an epic 8oz Top Sirloin Steak prepared as she likes it Rare. My choice was for something that I usually order on a Friday; the Fish and Shrimp platter with a light batter coating accompanied by fresh Broccoli was my winner. All of us had the sweet corn as a side dish. Dessert was a hard choice but we went with the fried apple pie and vanilla icecream. It gave our meal at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen a super ending. We were seated for dinner in the bar area. Two individuals at the bar were involved in an altercation last week. We never experienced such loud and vulgar language in a restaurant. Small children were exposed to this type of language from one of the individuals. Advised a manager and nothing was done. Our first and last time at Cheddars. The service was quick with no issues, our wait time was around 5-10 minutes which was pretty quick. When we sat down I was kinda shocked at how comfortable the booths were. The restaurant itself felt pretty empty but the lighting is nice and it was warm inside which is a plus. When we got served the Honey Butter Croissants I just had to close my eyes for a sec and really absorb that amazing flavor, same with the Cheese Bites. They tastes like chicken but it was gooey and warm like a toasted marshmallow. The Buffalo Chicken Wrapper was also nice but I would have liked it if it had more flavor, the fries tasted good but I wished it was crispier. Overall it was really good. read more

No. I've lived in Gainesville for 5 years and I've never once had a good meal here. Every now and then we give this cheddars another try, absolutely awful every time. But this last time was the nail in the coffin. The server was very outgoing and nice, but the food was inedible. The pot pie tasted like it came out of a can and had 0 flavor. The ribs must've came from a malnourished pig because they were absolutely decrepit, no meat on them whatsoever. We all felt sick afterwards as well. We took the rest of it to go but we just ended up tossing it out because it was so bad. read more

This is for the Cheddars in Gainesville. My friend & I had stopped going here a couple of years ago because the food was just not good. Decided 3 weeks ago to give them another try. So glad we did! We've been back 2 more times since then. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. They are one of the few restaurants that haven't reduced their serving sizes. Even their water is good when all the other restaurants are not right now because of what's going on with Lake Lanier. Last night I had ribs & chicken strips. The ribs were beefy & fatty with just the right amount of sauce and the honey mustard sauce for the chicken was really, really good. Their cole slaw is the only one in Gainesville that I like and of course, the croissants are to die for. Great job Cheddars. Keep it up! read more

Let me start by saying that the service was excellent! Our server was fantastic and did a great job managing our group of 13 which included 8 adults and 5 children including a few teenagers. She and other staff members were so friendly and accommodating of our group. They didn't miss a beat. However, the food was just OK. They brought complimentary honey butter croissants as soon as we were seated and that was the only thing I liked. The croissants were soft and pretty amazing. I wanted more. I ordered the coconut shrimp platter with broccoli and fries. The shrimp was heavily coated with this overly sweet coconut breading. I ended up removing the breading to eat the shrimp. The broccoli and fries were fine. If I wasn't so hungry, I probably wouldn't have eaten all of the shrimp. My husband got chicken tenders, which he thought would be a safe one to order, but he did not enjoy it at all. Our son who eats pretty much anything and a lot of it, couldn't even finish his New Orleans pasta. He usually asks for a to-go box if he can't finish something, but he politely told me he did not want to take it home. The rest of our group seemed to enjoy their food. Watch out for the cooked veggies. We went there this past Saturday. I got the veggie plate. I ordered the steamed brocolli. It tasted off but I thought it was me, the doctor changed one of my meds and thought maybe this was it. The brocolli tasted? I let it go and ate it anyway. We ate lunch and left and went to Rooms To Go. Right in the middle of shopping I had to go. I have a severe constipation issue so this was very unlike me. I've been holding off writing a review until sampling the entire menu - the verdict, OMG WOW. Best steaks and sides in Cleveland. Meatloaf is excellent. The seafood and pastas are delicious. The BBQ ribs are about as perfect as possible. Carry out is just as great as eating in, generous portions and no surprises. I got carryout BBQ rib meals, which everyone loved, for the 4th of July last year and will do so again this year. Always quickly seated regardless of the time or day of the week. Servers are friendly and care about providing a great dining experience. My favorite menu item is anything on the menu. Overall we really enjoy Cheddar's. We have had time where service was horrible, where is it was good, and were it was stellar. My husband loves the Fried Buffalo Chicken Wrap - $ 10.99 and the chips and queso -$5.79. Alcoholic drinks are strongly poured and pretty reasonable. They even make custom drinks if you ask. During COVID - they had tables blocked for customers to sit and everyone working was wearing a mask. They have new menus that are just 2 page double sided setup and have gaming / order tablets like Chili's. None of the games were free, but you can see your total rise as you order, LOL. One of my biggest pregnancy cravings has been Cheddar's honey butter croissants, so we drove an hour to come to this location today for those. I decided to try the Buffalo chicken wrappers and I am so glad I did. I don't like spicy, but the waiter assured me this was a moderate spice with great flavor. He wasn't wrong... This was one of the best chicken wraps I've had in a long time. I customized it by removing a few toppings and they got it right the first time. Our waiter didn't let our drinks get less than halfway full before ensuring we had refills, and he cleared the table as we finished with plates. For drinks, I got strawberry lemonade while my husband got raspberry lemonade. Complimentary sweet croissants came out. It was delicious!! We kept filling up on them. I got the veggie platter which included a salad and 4 sides! That's the most ever options for a veggie platter. For my for sides, I got rice & beans, corn, fries, and greens. Hubby got the baby back ribs with coleslaw and mash potatoes. For appetizers, I ordered chips and queso. My friend ordered fried shrimp appetizers. She ordered blacken salmon, steamed broccoli and broccoli cheese casserole. We all loved our food. I liked everything EXCEPT the beans & rice. It was way too salty for me. Was not a good experience on our first visit. The mash potatoes and white gravy were both cold on the first go round. Also the croissants we ordered tasted like they were left over from last night. A manager showed up and took care of things with fresh hot croissants right out of the oven as they should have been. Also they recooked my wife's meal. My wife and I have ate at this Cheddar's location on multiple occasions over the last four years since moving into the local area. We have not ever left unsatisfied. The menu has changed since our last visit and our favorite Key West Shrimp was no longer available but everything on the menu is good with sizeable portions. You will not leave hungry. The honey butter croissants that they bring after you are seated are amazing and should be a dessert item. The service is always efficient and good. Drinks are kept filled and we have not ever had to wait on our food or for a server. Across the brand, every Cheddar's we have visited has been consistent in their food quality, portion quantity, and service. We highly recommend Cheddar's and will return. read more

This place could use a good, deep clean. Upon entry, it has a cool atmosphere. Once you sit down, you start to notice things. The booth had crumbs on the seat (they had been open an hour, so it makes me wonder how long those crumbs were there). The edges could use cleaning into the creases by the tabletop. Then I noticed a few specks of dust floating down towards us. Our guess is it's from the slow turning fan at the ceiling because it is covered in dust. Now, for the food. I really wish the menu was more expansive, but maybe that wouldn't be a good idea since the food is sub-par anyway. My salad had a good bit of brown lettuce. I took out the pieces that weren't worth eating. Also, the side "house" salad comes with egg in it. I have an egg allergy, so I do wish I had known. I didn't expect it with a house salad. That's normally something you find in a Cobb. The potato soup was pretty good, but thicker than I'm used to. Honestly, Chili's version is better. My husband enjoyed his buffalo chicken wrap and the portion size was huge. Plenty of leftovers. The spinach dip was a yummy starter too. read more

It was decent but still falls short vs the Taco MAC nachos. I had the 12oz steak and it was no flavor to it and the side dishes of baked potato did not have any bacon on it. The food was mediocre and wasn't anything special. I prolly won't be back ever again. The waitress service was good and thus the 3 stars. Restaurant is 90% empty and we still had to wait twenty minutes to be seated. Once seated another twenty minutes passed. I had to go into the kitchen and find someone to take our order. It looks like they have more workers than customers. They took our drink and food order and it took twenty minutes just to get our drinks. We went here last year and had really bad service and swore we would never come back. We decided to give it a try again... bad mistake it was worse than last year. The manager I interacted with in the kitchen couldn't have been more bothered with me asking for someone to take our order. I don't think there is one person that works at this restaurant that I would not fire if I owned the place. Completely disappointed in what this place has become. We used to be frequent customers but it seems every time we've gone it gets worse. My husband and I ordered the lemon pepper chicken with broccoli. I asked for my broccoli loaded and we both got a salad. We asked for straws and never got them (husband had to go get them). Took about 15 minutes just to get salad. Salad was supposed to come with a croissant and didn't. I will say though that she apologized and brought extras. When our food came out the man who brought it never even said a word to us, held the food out for someone to take it and left. My broccoli, of course, was not loaded and at this point I didn't care because I was hungry. My husband realized after eating almost all of his chicken, it was very pink and now he's hoping he doesn't get food poisoning. To top it all off, we get our bill and the kids were charged $2.59 each for drinks. They ordered a kids meal that clearly states on the menu "comes with a drink". When I mentioned that to our waitress she said "yes it's free when you get a kid sized cup but I brought them big drinks. I explained to her what the menu said she repeated again that she brought them regular sized drinks. After arguing back and forth she looked unhappy and said "I'll just talk to the manager". When she came back she put the bill down with our card and said "I had the manager delete 2 of the drinks" like she did us a favor and didn't leave a pen for me to sign the bill. My husband had to ask someone else for one. Oh, and we also had to ask several times for to go containers. I don't complain much about poor service but several customers around us were even sat at dirty tables and I mean very obviously dirty. The customers complained about it and instead of just cleaning it off they moved them to a different table. Looks to me like this restaurant needs more customer service training.
