My husband and I walked into Chedders and were greeted nicely. The girl grabbed some menu's and silverware and said come this way. Previously to walking in, my husband mentioned he didn't want to sit on the right because it was too dark on that side so let's sit on the other side. I mentioned this to the girl and she flat out said no, lol I said what? she said I just sat someone over there and I can't double up. I started to explain the reason why we wanted to sit on the other side but I couldn't get a word in as she continued to dismiss me and wave her hand at me. I tried again explaining why we wanted to sit on the other but she was so dismissive! I said, uh, yeah no, do you actually think I'm going to put up with a dismissive attitude then pay you for it! Lost our business and we went across the parking lot Olive Garden and had a great tasting meal with a lovely waitress by the name of Luna. I haven't been to a Cheddars since I lived in Columbus years ago. I was so excited to find one on the road. The dining room was filled to capacity so I ordered curbside. It was super easy, convenient and well worth it. The wait was way less than expected. The staff was masked and very courteous. When I got back I was delighted to see that some things didn't change. Like portion size. I recall the humongous servings from Cheddars back in the day. I was given 2 hardy filet servings over a bed of seasoned rice. The green beans were like no other! They cooked it down with honey. It was delightful! The fish was perfectly cooked. Bursting with flavor! The croissants were delicious and very addictive. That chocolate cake was absolutely a game changer! It was quite simply the best chocolate cake I've ever had! It was so rich and moist. How they managed to make it so well I will never know. Overall, it warmed my heart to see this place and stop by. I always have great memories of this place and this experience adds to it. If you've never been to a Cheddars, you need to go! Food is really good. Service is always pretty good and the ambiance is decent. I love their steaks, tenders, and appetizers. We've gone the past two Sunday and I've gotten the lemon pepper chicken and the chicken and shrimp and both times they were so good, I went a long time ago and it was really nasty. I use to only get the vegetable plate or the chicken Alfredo now I go there pretty frequently. Never Again Cheddars Scratch Kitchen in Gainesville. Not all Cheddars' Restaurants are created equal. There is one where my father lives in Tennessee that is GREAT - this one -- the WORST. We had visited this location a few years back and felt the same as the other negative reviews. The wait, the service -- everything just sucked. We got a gift card from the manager to give them another try. We tried using the gift card once and had a similar experience. This time, my people were hungry and the menu has the variety that everyone wanted so I thought -- ok let's try this again. Around 4:00 PM I went in to the bar to order carryout. It wasn't crowded and I was the only person seated around the bar. The bar staff were so rude to me. I wasn't ordering a drink (the $60 tab wasn't enough for them I guess) so they ask that I move to a 4 person table. If the bar were crowded, I would get it but there was NO ONE THERE. Anyway....I wait and I wait and I wait....and an HOUR later the food comes. The voice in my head said check it before you leave...but guess what I didn't do....so I get home and there was something missing or wrong on everyones order. I was so over it. Never again! A couple minutes later someone comes out from the back saying it will be out in a minute. He finally comes back out with the food packing it up apologizing that he was the only one on togos. The food has a nice initial presentation and the servers are friendly - but then, when you dig in, you discover that it's nearly all breading. The chicken fried steak is a sliver of beef surrounded by a half plate of, you guessed it, breading. The cooked carrots are horrible. Today is our 40th anniversary . We chose this restaurant because we have enjoyed them previously with the chicken pecan salad. Today we had the ribs, sides and chicken salad and it was a 5/5! Not gonna lie... the food here is okay... and consistently okay at that. But sometimes the staff outshines the menu items... and such is the case at this Cheddars. The servers and bar tender are always so pleasant and friendly... and then there's Adam... he's definitely the shining star of this dining establishment! What a gem this guy is... he can make the most mundane meal ever so interesting with his energetic enthusiasm! Ok so i went here Saturday night 4/3/21 and let's just say i was very very disappointed cheddars is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at when I want a good meal for a cheaper price but not this night smh me an my boyfriend came here Saturday night for dinner his second time here ever an my 5th time at this one in particular since I'd been living in Atlanta we drove 45mins to get here from Gwinnett county to Henderson/Gainesville location an was very upset it was around 9 o'clock no wait or anything but the food the unpleasant food that was brought to us was what killed it this night i ordered the coconut shrimp with two side which they no longer hand my favorite side the Mac and cheese the first disappointment the second disappointment was my drink i always order my favorite drink the pain killer smh came out nasty to thick tasted more like orange juice with no cameras coconut around the rim in this different kinda looking cup i never seen it in before wow but here's where we were ready to go my boyfriend ordered the full rack of ribs with coconut shrimp and his side dish which we both tried the new side dish red beans an rice which was good by the way but that's besides the point omg the ribs that were serve to my boyfriend was so pink that the meat looked raw and rushed i couldn't believe it looked like that so we sent it back 5mins later the waiter comes back an said oh the ribs on tonight menu were cooked at a certain temperature blah blah something another do you want something else he asked for more shrimp but now we want it to go boy i tell you what a night the turn off from this place it might be my last time coming to this one even the croissants were a rip off they usually give complementary three we got two huge ones that didn't even taste the same it look like it had a white cream slept on the top smh never again. . . Ok, frustrated, and not sure where to begin. Our server,Cassie, Needs a refresher course on her job requirements!! While ordering our drinks, my mother ask to have her bill separate from my husband and I. Hold that thought! It took her forever to get the drinks, and then to come back for our order. We finally placed our order, which also took forever to get. The food was good, thank goodness for that! My husband was out of tea, no sign of the server. He never got a refill. Our server finally came to collect for our bill, another ordeal. She put the tickets in one hand and debit cards in the other. She ended up charging our bill to moms card and moms bill to our card. Kudos for showing customers that you love your job. The thing that made this round to be a 3 star experience again (but had the potential to be a 4 star experience) was how agonizingly long the food took. I've been here before, and the wait wasn't that bad even when there was an additional 2 or 3 people ordering... It could have been the steak that my friend ordered, but the wait was just looong. Justin had to even swing by to ensure that our food was indeed coming out. The ribs last time didn't take quite as long to cook; it just seemed like with the empty tables around us, the food should have came out quicker. The other, ahem, unique moment that was a lost star opportunity was how our appetizer came as is. There were no additional plates that came with it. At one point, my friends just used their napkins as plates. Ghetto... But we couldn't locate the server so we just dug in and improvised (or they did at least)... My boyfriend and I have come in twice over the past couple of months, a little later at night. Both times we waited at least 10 minutes for drinks, because our server, both times, was too busy to even come to our table besides bringing our food and drinks once. We had to ask for silverware both times as well. Management needs to do better. It would honestly be better to wait for better service than abandoned at our table, both times! Also, absolutely terrible stomach upset both times. I got the monte cristo sandwich and new orleans pasta the second time. We really won't be back even though we liked cheddars in the past. The service was phenomenal! Our server, Suki, knew what we wanted before we did. Drinks and apps kept on coming and food was SUPER fast. He was very kind and professional with a side of funny! Ambiance is always great, dim and quite, family friendly which we enjoy even if it's just a date night without our kid. The food was very tasty and large portions for the price. I had the county fried chicken with white gravy, potato soup and corn. The potato soup was DELICIOUS, however I did have to salt it, but I'd rather it be under salted than over. This is my first dine in experience with Covid is coming to an end and I was not disappointed. They are limiting tables and taking strict health and safety precautions. Our waiter was amazing and made sure we were constantly attended to. As for the food, I got the Buffalo chicken tenders with broccoli cheese casserole and sweet baby carrots. I have been hearing about this restaurant chain for a while and my fiancé and I were finally able to try it. We tried going to the location in McDonough off of Jonesboro Road, but each time we went it was always packed and there was always an hour long wait. Because we were in the Gainesville area we drove by to check it out, and were able to get seated immediately. This location of Cheddar's is on Dawsonville Highway next to Buffalo Wild Wings and across from the shopping plaza with Academy Sports and Hobby Lobby. The restaurant had a decent amount of people there that day for it to be Christmas Eve as well. Now to what really matters: the service and the food. Our waitress was Savannah and she was great. She greeted us promptly and gave us time to look over the menu as this was our first time being at the restaurant chain. I ordered the Dijon chicken & mushroom served on top of rice. with sides ( mac and cheese and southern green beans ) while my fiancé ordered the barbecue chicken with mac and cheese mashed potatoes. He also ordered the honey butter croissants because they had been recommended to him by a friend. They were pretty good. They tasted more like Pillsbury croissants more than anything but they were good. I'd eat them again. I have a habit of looking at my phone for the time to see how long it takes for food to be cooked and served ( especially for review purposes ) and I was around 10-15 minutes or so. Everything we had was pretty tasty, but what I didn't anticipate was the honey Dijon sauce would be all over the rice. I thought the sauce would be primarily on the grilled chicken breasts I ordered. Because of that the rice tasted... weird. Nice time I'll know to ask for the rice to be made on the side as opposed to mixed in with the sauce. All in all it was a good experience. Went into an empty restaurant tonight. Asked for a table. Did not see a single person in sight eating dinner. The hostess flat out told us it was a 30 minute wait before they could serve us. No Covid rules or restriction either. When I asked why it would be 30 minutes we were told it was due to the fact they had to put two tables together. Cheddars food is basically like taking something out of your freezer and putting it into the oven. Do yourself the favor and pick somewhere else to eat. This place is a joke. Tried this location again, and again it was solid. It's a chain and its not going to be the best restaurant you've ever been to, but the food is good and reasonably priced. The service was great. This time we had spinach dip and chips, salmon, and a ribs/tender combo. All were good and almost all the ribs will be lunch tomorrow -- they give you a lot of food for $18.49. The only complaint was the bleu cheese salad dressing. It wasn't very good. Would make another choice next time. read more

Cheddars only offers one soup: Loaded Baked Potato. They don't remove the skins on the potatoes so the soup is full of skins that taste like dirt! How lazy is that!!!! read more

We had a large group after an event ready to eat. We called Cheddars and they said they could accommodate us. We ate here as a group last year and we forgot. What they didn't tell us was that we would be sitting for a very long time waiting for food. We were seated at 7:30. We didn't get bread at the table until 8:30 and our food didn't arrive until almost 9pm. We were starving by then! The only saving grace was that the food was decent. My wife and I had lunch at this location this past Sunday. The food was very good and had generous portions even with the lite lunch. The server was friendly but the service was horrible. We ordered their special which was a burger with fries and then got a dessert. With this simple fare we were two hours mostly sitting and waiting. Tonight I met family from out of town for dinner. If I could give zero stars I would...food was subpar and service was horrendous. Our server Victoria was rude, unapologetic and unprofessional. There were six adults in our party. When our order was delivered by another setver, we were missing part of my order and another complete order. We inquired about the missing food. Victoria showed up about five minutes after food was delivered. When I asked about my order she was argumentative and said she "misheard" my order. When we asked about the missing order, she said it would be out. The manager delivered the missed order and was very apologetic for the mishap and said she was going to comp the meal. My ribs were more like jerky, but Victoria never checked on us to see how our food was or to refill our drinks. My drink was empty the entire meal. It was as if Victoria checked out. We only saw her again to deliver our checks. We had to ask for the comped meal to be removed. When she brought change for two of the checks, she shorted one guest $.72 and the other $.78. I know this seems silly but when questioned about the change, her response was that she was waiting on the bar for change. Then she threw a dollar on the table and stormed off. It was totally uncalled for. About two minutes later the manager came to our table. We explained the entire situation. She was this restaurants only saving grace. We asked why she came to our table and were told that Victoria ran out of the restaurant. I have been in the service industry and understand there are a lot of factors that affect the patrons experience. I also know that I am more forgiving than most. Tonight our experience was awful and it was the first time in years that I left 15% to the penny. Service industry is not for everyone but you should at least try to be pleasant.
