If you are visiting chilliwack I highly recommend stopping here for lunch or dinner and trying their souvlaki plates. They are packed with flavour and the portions are the right size. I got the souvlaki platter with 1 chicken skewer and 1 lamb skewer and chose Greek salad as my side. The brought out the Greek salad first with some complementary pita bread. I was surprised because most places bring the Greek salad with the main course. But it actually was a good idea because it helped keep us busy and minimized our hunger while we waited for our mains. I judge Greek restaurants by their potatoes and these were 10/10. Overall the service was fast and the food was delicious. We have been here a few times now and have ordered for delivery as well and everything every time was great! The food has been prepared and cooked well and the portions are a good size You won't leave hungry The chicken souvlaki is always juicy never dry and over cooked and I really like the calamari here 2 of my faves at Greek restaurants are the roasted potatoes and saganaki Here they bring it flaming to the table, nice touch and the potatoes just melt in your mouth They also have my go to beer on tap Old Yale Brewery, Perfect!! I've always liked the Greek Islands restaurant but my soup was way too salty and the Mousaka entree was also way, way too salty. I get that salt is necessary for flavour and a chef's nightmare is when someone says the food is bland. But I would cut back on the salt and remind diners to add salt if they want to. I checked and saw two other reviews of different dishes also reported as too salty. read more

I decided to let a couple days pass before actually posting my review as I wanted to really think about it. I am going to start with Ambiance. I'll base my opinion in comparison to the Abbotsford Greek Islands (both), Chilliwack is by far the nicest one inside and for seating. We had plenty of room for 5 of us sitting in a booth. And although the restaurant was jammed with patrons (a good sign... I would think) the noise level wasn't so loud we could hold a conversation and hear each other. Also the restaurant really wasn't insanely overdone with Greek design and artistic decor. The Service. Our server was amazing. She was very attentive and helpful. She never once looked or acted frustrated with all our additions and subtractions to our meals. She was very knowledgeable about the menu, which is a huge plus. She made sure our water was always topped up and that our drinks were never empty by asking if we needed refills. Okay, the reason for the 2 stars is the food. And I am being generous with that only because I am taking into account that the guests I was with completely love the place. I myself have a much different perspective on food as it is a big part of who I am. Lets talk about appies as we shared. Stuffed Mushroom caps: you require mushrooms, the stuffing and topped with cheese per most recipes, here we received chopped mushrooms mixed with small shrimp, herbs butter topped with melted cheese.....Escargot: drenched in butter, again chopped mushrooms, covered in melted cheese, no hint of seasoning. Ouzo Prawns: Prawns soaked in melted butter, no flavour of Ouzo. Dolmades: I would give these a 10/10 as they were the closest to something very Greek tasting. Definitely have the Dolmades. Greek Salad: now every entrée comes with a salad or the soup (soup of the day). Greek Islands is very proud of that they have their own signature Greek Salad Dressing and they even sell it; then why do they hardly put it on their Greek salad servings, and what is with the shredded feta cheese and one black olive. The salad is all cucumber and very little other vegetables. A ratio should be given. My understanding is a Greek salad should be colourful and full of flavours enhanced by a beautiful herbed vinaigrette and olive oil. What we had was cucumbers with an olive. Onto the Entrees: My husband absolutely loves lamb and he ordered the rack of lamb. When paying $55 for your plate, the lamb had better be spot on for flavour, tenderness, and made to the customer's requested doneness. Unfortunately that didn't happen, he order medium rare and received well at the ends to medium well into the middle of the rack. His choice, he could have sent it back and asked for what he ordered but as I said he loves lamb and to waste it, he couldn't. Good thing it was tender and tasty. The vegetables were cold, the rice was plenty (I will say there was plenty on the plates). You were not going to starve as all servings were bountiful. All in all his rack of lamb dinner was meh, he said mine is way better. I'll take that compliment. My entree was (Kleftedes)Greek Meatballs with tomato sauce. I took a couple bites and the sauce was very acidic and salty. I was done. I had read other reviews regarding over salting flavours. Unfortunately mine turned out to be another to add to the list. Our 3 other diners with us ordered chicken souvlaki, which is what they always order from there. Considering they don't change up to try other things from the menu, I will go one to say the Chicken Souvlaki is a good. Who knows, maybe we'll go another time.. Changed my review from 3 stars to 4 stars because the one extra star is due to the effort of the owner making sure their customers are satisfy with the food and experience. The owner reached out to me and has mentioned that the Roast Lamb is a popular item on their menu and that they offered me a gift certificate to go back and try again. I value business owner who listens to customer's feedback because that is usually how business stays competitive and improve. ------- My Review on Sept 22, 2018: Came here after River Rafting with a bunch of friends. We googled for food and it wasn't easy to find food in the area in Chilliwack that is unique to Chilliwack. We ended up at this restaurant because Google suggested it. Parking is plentiful here. We were surprised on the wait and how many people were waiting for a table after 8pm. I ended up getting the Roasted Lamb for $26. It advertised that it is so good that the meat would fall of the bone. No that was not the case. Meat didn't fall off the bone easily. Nope nope nope --- sad face. The meal came with soup, salad and pita bread. The roast lamb was a bit salty and dry. Bad idea to order Roasted lamb here. By showing my yelp account, we got free calamari with our meal. It was not bad but was kind of salty. Also the batter would not stay to the calamari. It just crumbles off. read more

We order from here all the time. This is definitely a go to restaurant. The portions are gigantic generous and full of flavor. The people that work here are great and super friendly. I always get the chicken souvlaki. It is always super tender and juicy. It comes with potatoes, rice, veggies, pita bread and a tzatziki. The tzatziki is amazing but comes with a super small portion so we always get extra. Also I just realized I forgot it comes with a salad as well. I always get the Cesar because it's freaking delicious I'm not sure what kind of dressing they do there but I love it. You can also get Greek if you prefer. My husband always gets the beef souvlaki dinner and loves it. Super generous portions leaves everyone stuffed beyond belief by the end of the meal. You will not have room for dessert. I have also had the moussaka a couple of times and it is perfection. The only reason I don't get it more often it's because my husband is not food adventurous and I could never eat the amount they give you so I only get it when I am ravenous. You still get everything with the moussaka as well the potatoes, rice, veggies, pita and salad. They make sure you're well fed and the prices are so reasonable considering what you get. Excellent service and food. Portions are huge. Everything was delicious! A bit pricey but for the size of the meals it's reasonable.

I will say I was very impressed from the moment I walked in this place from the beginning to the end! As soon as we walked in the door they were super nice and attentive. The waitress was EXTREMELY friendly! The owner cane around checking on us to make sure we were happy and the waitress was on the ball! The portions were good. The food quality was incredible and tasty! The atmosphere was cosy and nice with a Greek Athens feel. Everything about the experience was great from beginning to end. The place was clean. Pricing was fair for what you get and even tho the place was busy they were all over it with service not having to wait for your food and picking up your dirty dishes cleaning your tables etc. They roast the crab which is a nice touch. I was happy over all and will definitely be back when I'm in town and totally recommend this place to everyone. read more

Well, you can't win em all! But this was pretty close. Over the last few weeks I have been showing my little brother and his wife around Canada. We'd just driven back from Banff, and although we were reeeally nearly home, we were also a bit too hungry to wait until arriving in Vancouver. So, I looked up possible places to eat, and Greek Islands has sooo many good reviews, we decided to pop in here. Firstly, what I loved: - The waitresses were all lovely! - I like the way each dish comes with soup, then salad, so you can start eating while you wait for your mains. - They are great for folks that need gluten free food. - The portions are gigantic. What I was less keen on: - The locks to the ladies washrooms were all broken, so you have to pee while hoping no-one will open the door on you. - There is sooo much salad dressing on the greek salad. It's actually pretty tasty it just doesn't taste much like greek salad. I enjoyed my meal, but I didn't think it was quite as impressive as all these other reviews. My brother was less keen. He said this was his worst meal in Canada. :( One problem is that we are all from the UK, so have had easy access to Greece and Greek food our whole lives. If you are looking for tasty comfort food, and you don't mind if it is not authentic, you'll probably like this more than we did. read more

Server was brightly cheerful and efficient. Food was great with a generous portion. The boyfriend and I shared the dinner platter for two and there was enough for a third. Lamb was tender and flavourful. Meatballs super savoury and moist. Chicken souvlaki was a tad dry, but well seasoned. The sides were fresh and tasty. Good service, and a prawn appetizer was very good. Unfortunately the moussaka was heavily loaded with potatoes. It was close to scalloped potatoes, seemingly topped with whipped potatoes and the bottom layer was sliced potatoes. A very thin layer of ground beef and a similarly thin layer of egg plant/aubergine and zucchini in between the potatoes. Either more beef and less potatoes or more veggies and less potatoes would have been better. Ideally I'd prefer the more traditional veggies and lamb or beef version, either without potatoes. I'd go back, but would pick another entree. Note : the topping was at least in part a white sauce, but I was overwhelmed by the potatoes in the dish so it was hard to distinguish flavours. read more

The reason a lot of my reviews are 5 stars is because I Google these businesses before trying them out. This place has been a long time fav. Whenever I'm in the Abbotsford/Chilliwack area, this is my place. At $20 a dish, it's reasonable. But what really takes the cake is the quality of the food, the personal touch by the young owner, and the excellent service by the waitresses. All in all, this place is amazing!! Couldn't be happier to give my hard earned money to such a caring owner, excellent quality food, and fantastic service. If you love Roast Lamb like myself, you'll love these guys!! We drove out from Richmond for the night and didn't know where to eat, we looked at some reviews and looked good. The food was amazing. We went to Greece last summer and it was identical cuisine.
