My only negative is that this place is not in Modesto!! Ugh I LOVE this place and everyone there. The girls were so patient with me and took the time to show me soooooo many selections. I came here because I could not find a pair of eccentric (statement) glasses anywhere in Modesto. I then drove here and found amazing pairs (yes multiple). But I hesitated... my insurance was not covered here and I was going to have to pay full price and 400 to 500 is steep. I was vacationing in Monterey and Santa Cruz and went to over 15 optical places and still could not find "The One" so I came back here and again the girls were so nice, inviting and welcoming and helpful and I really can't say enough!! Needless to say I came back and bought a pair of Anne & Valentin optical glasses and I absolutely love them. I will be back to buy again!! read more

I have the most difficult time finding frames that fit my face & I am quite picky which made this task almost impossible until my Aunt & Uncle introduced me to Great Spectacles. They have gone here for years & I have always admired my Aunt's glasses. Anytime we went anywhere, people would compliment her glasses. I almost settled on a pair of frames that looked okay on me, they were all honest with me & said they didn't do me justice. After they had me try on over 20 pairs, I walked out feeling great about the decision they helped me make & have received dozens of compliments on my Tiffany frames! I went back for a pair of sunglasses & they helped me pick out a pair of Tod's which I am super pleased with. Not only do they have a superior frame selection for sunglasses & eyeglasses, their customer service is steller! How do I know this? Well... besides the obvious personal care & attention they always give you, my sunglasses had a weird smudge on the lens that I couldn't remove & they took care of it without question! The store name is True: GREAT Spectacles! My lens prescription changed recently, and I could not find a rimless frame at my optomestrist's shop that would fit my small head. So I visited GS, and described to the owner, Lynda, the ideal features that I was looking for: very light rimless frame, thin "arms," black/silver, thin high quality lens, potent non-glare coat, migraine "friendly," barely-there; yet lens width and frame MUST fit a very small adult head. I am an artist, and the ability to see light and details accurately is critical. From the hundreds and hundreds of gorgeous frames in the boutique, she walked immediately to a particular shelf, and reached for a particular stunningl frame; THE frame for me. It was perfect in appearance and "feel." I was so stunned (and I had a bad headache and could not commit to purchase) that I left the store without looking at another pair, saying I would need to think about it. Over the next 4 days I visited 6 other eyegless stores, and found no lenses/frames that came close to the quality (and perfect match for my needs) to the pair at Great Spectacles. The brands I saw at Great Spectacles I had not seen in chain stores, vision centers, nor local optometrist's stores. I returned to Great Spectacles, and ordered the PERFECT glasses after asking more questions about the lens quallity (superb!). Lynda took me into a fitting room to ensure not only the perfect fit, but to use a unique machine that tracks your vision with lasers (I think!) to ensure that your lenses (mine are progressives) will suit your particular eye movements. The eyeglasses are SO amazing! They arrived well ahead of schedule which was icing on the cake. They are light weight, perfectly clear, and yet powerful. It took my eyes about 4 days to "adjust" to this advanced progressive style (my former glasses were also progressives), so don't get upset if/when it takes a few days for your eyes to work in concert with your new glasses. If I so choose, when/if my lens prescription changes, I can replace the lenses and continue using the same frames. The staff--owner Lynda, and assistants Tara and Ali--are all professional, enthusiastic, and patient in working with each customer to find glasses that fit their particular optical needs, aesthetic style, and lifestyle. Please do yourself a favor and visit their store before you commit to purchasing your eyewear. They also carry awesome sunglasses! read more

If you want a great pair of spec's to adorn your sexy face look no further (unless your nearsighted) to Great Spectacles. It's a very chic little store located in Lincoln Center. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful (Tara always finds the perfect frames for me) and the selection is awesome. They don't carry anything that you'll find in sunglass hut or stores alike in the mall. Here you can find brands like Chrome hearts, Blinde, Oliver peoples and other brands or frames you're not likely to find anywhere else in town. They also have a great sale once a year but I won't tell you when, I want first dibs. If you want to know you'll just have to go there yourself. This office is simply stunning and very welcoming! The staff is highly trained and are ABOC licensed opticians. Mosts doctors office's cannot offer the level of knowledge that Lynda and her staff does. The frame selection is one of the most diverse outside of SF and LA.
