This place isn't too bad. I had the pesto chicken panini. Something I'd order again. My husband wasn't too impressed with his sandwich. The cashier didn't really seem happy to have customers? However the lady making the sandwiches was very nice to us. We didn't think the muffins and everything looked too fresh. Not sure if this will be a place we come to often. I fell in love with this place I wish it was closer to me. I would visit everyday. I tried some of their breads at a farmers market in dale city and one in DC. The do samples it you would like to try the breads and desserts before you buy. The bread is cook fresh daily. read more

Stopped in for my first visit and was instantly greeted with a smile from behind the register. Fresh bread and sweets I'm in heaven.

I have yet to had a sandwich or bakery item that dissapoints. I used to always walk past this bakery until Gina started spoiling my pup with their fresh baked dog treats (which she LOVES!), so naturally we had to start eating here. The staff is very friendly, the line moves quickly and of course the food is great. I'd definitely recommend Great Harvest! read more

I loved the flavor of my chicken salad sandwich last time I went, but there were some chewy chunks of fat in it so I had to take 1 star off. I would rate higher for the baked goods, but the service at this location is terrible. The cashiers both were unfriendly and seemed annoyed at having customers. I needed assistance because the cookies I bought were labeled wrong and I needed to switch them to the correct ones. The cashier wanted me to do all the switching which involved opening multiple bags of cookies on the display which made me uncomfortable. She was so unprofessional and kept walking away like she was done. It was odd. The whole process took about 10 minutes when it should have taken two. As of late, I've found myself more than a little upset with the recent happenings in this establishment. I've seen more than enough of the flies crowding not only the bread board but a large percentage of the bread they now keep in my specific line of vision. Doesn't help that I've noticed them grabbing some of the bread without any gloves, there's no telling where their hands have been. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the renovations they've made. They've shortened it to the point where you can hardly move anymore. I wonder if they even take children into consideration anymore. Well, looks like I've lost a eatery. I'm a huge fan of harvest bread's baked goods. My absolute favorite is the cinnamon chip challah which I probably devour in 3 days although the loaf is massive. It's perfect for French toast! This location is closest to my house so I go for a morning treat once in a while. Their cinnamon chip scones are very tasty as well. I always make sure to get a sample of the breads on display when I visit. Although the breads are pricy, they are very good. I wouldn't buy coffee here though, it has a very strange aftertaste. This is the only place to go worthy of cheating on that no carb diet! I can't even begin to describe the variety and unique quality of the bread. Of course it is organic and they sell in rounds or loaves and you have the slicing machine option with varying degrees of thin and thick. Every November, I wait in a horrendous line to buy the unbelievably good stuffing bread which I use to make...you guessed it...stuffing! My husband and I stopped by to purchase some items. While standing in line I noticed flies inside of the enclosed glass on top of the breads that were being sold to customers. I got the employees attention to inform her of the flies. Her response was " It's just flies, just like you are at a picnic". I was shocked and livid. I ask the cashier if the young lady was her manager, she replied yes. If you have a manager of that mindset, to think that flies are okay on food, what else could be happening in the kitchen where food is being prepared. What a powerful, flavorful taste extravaganza! We ducked in unexpected and were immediately struck with the warm, cheerful, and wholesome food atmosphere. I ordered a California Cobb with Dakota bread. It tasted absolutely delicious, but the texture was out of this world-wonderful! Dakota Bread is embedded with all kinds of edible seeds, and is delectable beyond belief! My wife had a "Lorton Chicken Salad" sandwich, she raves about all the big chunks of chicken and the superb flavor. I cannot stress how wonderful Lorton's Harvest Bread Company is, how welcoming, or how simply warm I felt on a cold winter's day. Wonderful! read more

Nice variety in soups (i.e. red pepper and gouda, roasted eggplant, beef barley, tomato, etc.). Nice customer service. Eating atmosphere is very welcoming and pleasant. LOVE the sandwiches (best tuna melt I've ever had!), love the breads, the butter spreads, the soups, the pastries, everything! Fresh ingredients, They make their own bread and the the meat is nitrate free! The staff is wonderful.... but (and this is why I didn't give 5 stars) there is one particular staff member. Now this is right in our neighbor hood so we are frequent visitors. The individual always seems to be annoyed or having a "bad day" EVERY time. Having past experience in retail, it's been engrained in me that you should always greet your customers with a smile. Shockingly I believe she is part of the management staff. I hate to pull the race card, but that is sincerely what it feels like in my gut...can't imagine that EVERY time we see her she's having a "bad day". Other then that.... I came here for the first time two days ago. I had a breakfast sandwich, and an iced coffee. The iced coffee was mostly uncrushed ice. It should have been 0.99 rather than 2.30. The taste was ok once I added half and half and sugar. It is not really ready to drink, even with the flavored syrup. The sandwich was respectable as was the cinnamon bread sample. The service was pleasant enough. I was still in the area by dinner time and decided to try a cold sandwich. The sandwich was decent, but this time the service was not. I guess this was their evening shift although they are only open til 6pm. The person with the two chin piercings left much to be desired in basic respect and decorum as did the woman who made the sandwich. I doubt I will be back. read more

Love this place so much I made it a part of my regular walks on the weekend. Their coffees are wonderful without the burnt taste of some other places. You can't go wrong with any of the breads, whether it's a dessert or a savory and if you are curious you can always ask for a sample. I can't figure out how the Subway next door stays open because the sandwiches are fantastic! I love the Mediterranean on dakota with a lemonade on hot days. The staff is kept perpetually on their toes, but they do an outstanding job keeping us customers happy :) read more

What's not to like when your bread is fresh and your sandwich is made from wholesome ingredients? I've tried a couple of their sandwiches and salads, but my go-to is always the California Cobb Sandwich and it is amazing! It's very fresh and the flavors go so well together. While the menu is not extensive like many other sandwich shops, the quality of their food is great. The staff is always very friendly,and accommodating. Came here for lunch a little while back. Had the broccoli soup and a Mediterranean veggie sandwich, chips and a bottled drink. THAT WAS 20 BUCKS! The broccoli soup was bland, and the sandwich fell apart when I picked it up. That always puts me in a bad mood. The bread was good, and that is apparently what this store is known for I guess. This place is right in my neighborhood so I used to love bringing my kid here on rainy weekend mornings. They had a toddler table with crayons and coloring books (which they eventually gave up on so I'd bring my own) and the giant checkers and table checkerboard would keep her entertained for a solid half-hour. Plus it was nice space for me and my husband to hang out too and get coffee and a sandwich... but, on the last visit we discovered that the customer area was cut in half to make room for more electric Panini grills behind the counter.... I guess so they could let the customers watch their sandwiches getting cooked (???)... no more giant checkers, no toddler table, and besides that, they didn't swap out the rather large tables (which now seem huge in the tiny space) for smaller Starbucks-style café tables. So it was CRAMPED! Renovations didn't seem thought out too far. Not much fun anymore. Besides that the chalkboard always lists the Rwanda coffee as being ready brewed/on tap but it never is.
