On our way to Williamsburg, VA we stopped here for lunch. Drove through the beautiful regional park to get to the accessible café, which is right on the water. The facility has clean bathrooms and very friendly staff! We had two Cafe sandwiches and paid the small up charge for fries - both sandwiches were fresh and delicious and we couldn't stop ourselves from eating all the fries! I imagine this is a hopping spot in the spring and summer however, in the winter snow covered, it was still absolutely beautiful to have our delicious café lunch while looking at the beautiful Occoquan river. read more

I came across this gem during a random stop to visit Occoquan Park. This restaurant was not here when I visited several years ago. I visited with my girlfriend on a gorgeous day and we absolutely enjoyed overlooking the river. We only ordered drinks, but all the food we saw looked great. Looking for a place for lunch today, we happened in to Brickmakers Cafe, which is at the Occoquan Regional Park in Lorton, VA. At Brickmakers, you order at the front, and they give you a pager. Then when your pager goes off, you pick up your food at the front counter. Brickmakers has an outside eating area, overlooking the Occoquan reservoir. Today everyone was out there because it was a beautiful afternoon. We started with some Fried Calamari strips, which we ordered because they were out of oysters. Calamari strips were very good. For lunch my wife had a turkey and avocado on croissant, which she reported as just fine. I had ham and Swiss on marbled rye. It was good, but a little too much brown mustard for my taste. We washed it all down with water. The counter service was very polite and our food came quick. They were good, standard sandwiches. We weren't going there for a fine culinary experience. We wanted a nice decent lunch, and that's what we got. We would go again. read more

We used to visit the Occoquan Reginal Park often, but for some reason we stopped about 10 years ago. A couple of months ago we went back and were surprised by the new facility' improvements, especially the new Visitor's Center (fast becoming a very popular venue for weddings!). The Brickmaker's Cafe is located in the lower level of the Visitor's Center, with a typical "grill menu" (burgers, chicken strips, salads, etc.). We have been back six times already, and has become one of our favorite places to hang out. The food is good, if a little on the expensive side; the a a great rotating selection of craft beers, ciders and wines, which you can enjoy in their outdoor area overlooking the Occoquan river. It used to be a 1970s type of snack bar, now it is a modern restaurant with event space next to it. This restaurant has a great menu and wine selection. You order at the front and they bring the food to you. If you eat outside, you will be pleased with the view overlooking the water. We ordered the Roasted Corn and Avocado Salad, Pulled Pork Burger, Popcorn Shrimp Basket, cider, and wine. Their wine and beer selections are of good quality and price. The Roasted Corn and Avocado Salad had mixed baby greens, romaine, roasted corn, avocado, tomato, black beans, cheddar cheese, and crispy corn strips with chipotle ranch dressing. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. The Pulled Pork Burger had pork bbq, hamburger patty, sliced cheddar, house barbecue sauce and fried onion straws. The Popcorn Shrimp Basket had crispy shrimp, coleslaw, coastal fries, tartar, and cocktail sauce. I highly recommend this restaurant. This was our first visit --it was awesome, and you should definitely go! Location: It's inside the Occoquan Regional Park and is in a brand new building set close to the river. From inside or on the deck you'll have a great view of the Occoquan River and of people launching kayaks, boats, and etc. Also they had plenty of free parking! They had water, Powerade, sparkling water, fountain soda (Coke products), Monster, etc. They also had quite a variety of bottled beer: light beers for hot summer days or Sam Adams type beers when you're feeling a little classier. They also had three beers on draft, two of which were a local beer "Fair Winds." They had a menu that should accommodate just about any taste. The restrooms were also modern, nice, and clean. Style: You pick a table, figure out what you'd like to eat, order at the counter, and they bring it out to you. Food: My father in law had the roasted corn and avocado salad and really enjoyed it. He really enjoyed it and the avocado looked really fresh. My wife had the southwest grilled chicken wrap with french fries and she really enjoyed it (I tried a bite and it was very good). My mother in law and I both had the steak and cheese sandwich (was on the "specials") with french fries --also very good. Service: all of the employees were super friendly and seemed extremely committed to ensure all of the guests enjoyed their visit. The service was great and really made the experience. The brunch was spectacular! This cafe is in Occoquan regional park and overlooks the Occoquan River bank. There is an indoor and outdoor area - roughly about 25 seats inside and 25 seats outside. My partner and I ordered the 'Pork and Benedict' and the 'Breakfast burrito'. The pork and benedict was fantastic - good amount of flavorful seasoned pulled pork, perfectly cooked over easy eggs, and mustard hollandaise (creamy and had a light tang from the mustard), which tied all the flavors into the dish. Not to mention it was served with a healthy amount of breakfast potatoes. The breakfast burrito had such wonderful breakfast components (ham, bacon, eggs, potatoes, onion and peppers) and was absolutely delicious. We went around 1:30 pm on Sunday so it wasn't as busy as the morning. There's a quick ordering process, self service utensils/condiments/seating areas and great customer service. The chefs make some beautiful dishes and keep the menu fresh with daily specials, and the employees are always smiling and cheerful. Excellent sandwiches and wraps at reasonable prices (haven't been there in the evening for hot entrees). Staff is always so friendly. Not many parks where you can pick up a bottle of wine and snacks and enjoy the view (bottles only $15 during HH). After lunch enjoy a stroll on the paved paths, visit the Suffragette Memorial (the park used to be part of DC jail) and the brick kiln or head across the River to the village of Occuquan. Note that their hours vary by season and in the winter have patience since might only be two staffers. read more

We went there with another couple for dinner. They don't serve food in the normal way right now basically they give you take out boxes at your table. Not going to ding them for that because of course these are trying times. Having said that the food itself was delicious and the staff was very friendly. We had baked salmon which was wonderful, and accompanied by some green beans that were cooked just right. The mashed potatoes were good but nothing special. The odd thing is one of ordered sauerkraut and it was very sweet. I've never had sauerkraut that was so sweet. It's not that it was bad, it's just not what you expect when you order sauerkraut. I didn't have the 1-star experience others have shared. Service was terrific. Food was good and affordable. Location is awesome. Brunch is only on Sundays, and that's what I hoped to get but we came on a Saturday. Found this place and decided to give it a try for brunch today. I ordered the breakfast burrito and my friend ordered the pecan French toast. I'm not gonna lie the food looked so good while we were passing by all the tables! We patiently waited for our food and about 20mins later we received our horrible messed up order. We told the server and he fixed two things but then we told him we had replaced the potatoes for over medium eggs and guess what he comes back with? Scramble eggs. Anyways I said it's okay let's just finish our food...welp to put the cherry on top I find a hair in my damn burrito and was instantly disgusted. What else can go wrong?
