We usually go to the Golden Plum to get pies and only just noticed the Cafe next door. Glad we made an effort to stop here first for lunch as they serve great sandwiches, drinks and coffees here. They also serve breakfast all day. We got the reuben and chicken salad sandwiches. You get a choice of sides with the sandwiches. Everything tasted great and fresh. I lucked on this place on my road trip and it was perfect serendipity. I needed to pick up something for a potluck, and the bakery next door has delicious cookies. I needed breakfast and Ballywhack has the best burrito ever. I almost told them not to put the sweet potatoes in it, because I'm not a huge fan of those. Ballywhack Shack Cafe is such a cozy little gem. My Husband and I had the turkey pressed sandwich #1. On the menu, with tomato soup of the day and it was absolutely delicious. The turkey was fresh and flavorful, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the bread was toasted just right. That pesto and rosemary hits the spot. The tomato soup was warm, rich, and comforting and so full of flavor and the perfect pairing for the sandwich. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and actually enjoy your meal. Add in a great cup of coffee and the southern peach sweet tea was so delicious. it's the ultimate comfort-food experience. We were looking for a breakfast place in the area and this was one of the places that pop up. Upon entering it seem to be very cozy place. We were not greeted but I still walked up to the counter to get us the menu. My husband and I stopped in recently, and our experience was pretty disappointing. He ordered the Down The Shore and an Iced Dirty Soda (Italian Soda). To him it tasted like flat soda, and to me it tasted more like sparkling water -- definitely not what we expected. I ordered the creamy tomato soup and a grilled cheese, and both were a miss. The soup wasn't hot or creamy, and the sandwich bread was hard, even when I dipped it into the soup. I took two bites and threw it out. I also tried the Dirty Soda Mango-Hibiscus -- it tasted better than it looked, but still not great. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the signature iced caramel latte. That was delicious and something I would recommend. Unfortunately, overall, this visit just didn't hit the mark for us. Didn't really know that this place existed until I drove by one day. I thought it was still a general store but now I am glad I gave it a shot. We've been about 4 times over the past few weeks and anything we ordered was a hit. My fiancé got the Twister Sister each time because she loves it that much and I can't say I blame her. I've tried the Bada Bing Bada Boom, Chunky Dunk, Meanwhile...Back at the Ranch, and the South-By-Southwest wrap. Each one was delicious, you can't really go wrong with anything. We also like the lattes here as well. Lots of unique flavors that are absolutely worth trying as well. We've liked the lavender one the most. The staff is pretty friendly and they work hard and fast behind that counter too. The cafe doesn't have too much seating but there is also some outside. Honestly I thought this was a nice cool place to relax and have breakfast. I had been here before but this time I ordered a mocha. It was brought to my table. A few minutes later my number was called and I had another drink made. Me being honest I said I already had one but if they wanted to give it to me. I wasn't expecting a yes the lady went to the manager/owner she kind of eyed me and was like no. And that she would drink it instead of dumping it out. As a customer service manager the least she could have done is got up thanked me and said "I'm sorry we can't" not sure if I want to come back but that just didn't seem like a good way to handle it. read more

Loved my sandwich! I got the Bacon Me Crazy with a side of macaroni salad. The bacon was plentiful and had a nice smokey flavor. The ciabatta bread was toasted the right amount with butter that added to the sandwich. The aioli sauce was a touch sweet in a good way and was the perfect finishing touch! Yum! The macaroni salad was similar to grocery store and a bit too runny. Food was prepared fresh and people working there were very nice.
