The coffee was amazing, and the service was great. The ambiance was really nice too--they had soft music playing in the background which made it feel cozy. My food was a little cold, but to be fair, I did eat my toast first. The sauce in the small cup was cold as well; I think it would've been even better served warm. While the cafe itself is small and cute, the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. ​The Service: When we walked in, we stood at the host stand for a while without being acknowledged. Eventually, we just walked up to the cashier. Since it was our first time, we were clearly a bit lost, but there was no "hello" or "welcome" the cashier just handed us menus and told us to order at the counter. The lack of communication made the atmosphere feel a bit unwelcoming. ​The Price & Value: The bad part of the experience was the checkout process. The lowest tip option on the screen was 25%, with the highest being 32%. For a place where you order at the counter and receive minimal service, that felt very steep. ​I ordered the Barrio Breakfast and an horchata, though I was confused as to why I was charged for a more expensive "iced horchata latte" instead. My boyfriend got a bacon, egg, and cheese on white bread and a bottled Coke. Our total came out to nearly $60. ​The Food: To be fair, the food was actually very tasty and we had no complaints about the quality. However, in this economy, it's hard to justify the price for what is essentially a meal you could make at home for a fraction of the cost. ​Overall: It's worth trying once if you're curious, but because of the high prices and the awkward service, I don't think we'll be regulars. Breakfast Blunder Our recent breakfast stop here was a huge disappointment. We were just passing through town, and this place seemed like a good option, but we definitely didn't leave happy. My eggs were cold, and the toast was dry and cold. I even had to ask for butter and jelly. My husband's $12.99 egg platter was also a letdown; he sent it back because the eggs were so cold like they came out of the fridge- and wasn't offered a refund. The only decent food item was the sausage, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich. On the positive side, the location is spacious and the coffee selection is good. However, the service was lacking, with only one person working the counter, whom had to go look for the butter and jelly. My friend invited me here this week so we could catch up after a few months. My friend told me this is a local, family-owned business--just the kind of place I love to support! There are a variety of seating options, lots of beverages, and plenty of freshly-baked pastries to choose from. I decided to try the Hibiscus tea, and my friend treated me to a shortbread cookie with caramel. They asked if I wanted any sugar in my tea since it's unsweetened, but it was absolutely perfect without anything added. The shortbread cookie was so crumbly, gooey, and delicious. The employees were all wonderful, and they even come by to see how we enjoyed our items. I'm really glad to know this place is here, since I can see this as being a cozy place to visit with friends, get some work done, or grab a snack. I'll start with the positives: the breakfast burrito was good. The vibes were nice in the place. Now for the negatives: whoever said this place is 1 $ sign is wrong. Breakfast for two was $45. Given I was also basically overcharged due to a new employee messing up. My coffee was forgotten and I went o ask 15 minutes later. I was charged for extra hash browns because i was told my omelette did not come with hashbrowns, yet it came with potatoes. I was charged for a water, but a water cup was later brought out for free. The burrito was good but for practically $20 is a bit much considering it was potato egg cheese and steak. The manager i presume was nice about the coffee and gave me a cookie. What an amazing new experience! In addition to great coffee, there are now tasty bites for breakfast, lunch, and even dinner. I popped in to purchase some of the best whole-bean coffee and was pleasantly surprised to find a full menu. I returned at lunch and wanted a small sampling of a sandwich and pupusas--one word--WOW! The sandwich was really good. The egg was nicely seasoned and complimented the ham and sourdough bread. The dressing on the sandwich was a bit much, which made it a little soggy, but the crispy fries were a pleasant surprise and complemented the sandwich well. The mixed pupusas were great. I'm used to eating pork and cheese or beans and cheese, so this was a welcomed surprise. What I enjoyed most was that all of the food was made fresh to order, and of course, the coffee and customer service were always fantastic. So happy we are finally getting good local coffee shops that not only serve good coffee but also delicious food options. I have yet to try the food options which i read are pretty legit. I tried their dark chocolate mocha which was yum. I asked the barista what their most popular drink was and she said horchata latte but since I'm not a big horchata connoisseur, i wanted to play it safe and i liked what i ordered. The lovely barista also informed me that they can make any food item halal which I appreciated. I also tried their chocolate cake slice after looking at the many tempting pastries which are made in house and loved it. The chocolate cake tasted homemade and i gobbled it up in one sitting. Definitely coming back to try more sweets (i had my eyes on the cinnabon looking pastry and the banana cake next). read more

We stopped into a Happy Place this past weekend looking for a new "go to" coffee shop in the area. We ordered two Lavender Oatmilk Iced Latte's and two breakfast sandwich's - eggs, cheese and bacon on an everything bagel. The coffee was delicious! The food was also very good, just what you'd expect in a breakfast sandwich but they were tasty. The hashbrowns were so good and as an avid pickle fan, that was a nice and unexpected bonus. The service was great, the gentlemen who helped us seemed to be the only one working. When we first walked in we were the only ones inside so it was nice and quiet. After we sat to eat more people started trickling in. The gentlemen did a great job managing the incoming customers and current customers needs. The place itself was very cute! When I walked in, I was immediately put off by a loud political news channel on the TV--unexpected for a shared space like a coffee shop. I liked how the seating layout offers plenty of tables, but the lack of power outlets near the wall seating makes it hard to work if you need to charge a laptop. Adding outlets there would be a great improvement! I felt like the customer service could have been better. I wait to be greeted at establishments, but the guy stared at me for an awkward amount of time before engaging with me. He was a lot more chatty and engaging with the folks ahead of me so that was confusing to me. Treating all customers with the same enthusiasm could have helped with this issue. The menu was pretty robust with standard coffees and things. I didn't really enjoy my cappuccino, though. I might give this place another shot, but my first visit wasn't great. read more

Had to try this new coffee shop and we weren't disappointed. They offer a variety of coffees, espresso, cappuccino, frappuccino, etc. They also have a variety of dairy and non-dairy creamers. If you like the creamy vanilla chai flavors then this is the chai for you. If you're looking for rich and spicy then I would avoid it. My book club hosts here on Sundays sometimes and I'm always surprised that there is no wait and no crowd. The food is decent, the drinks are good (full disclosure I've only had hot chocolate, strawberry lemonade, and hibiscus tea because I don't drink coffee). The caramel macchiato, Horchata latte, and the chai frappe with almond milk have been great. Their food items are very tasty, and plan to go back to try more menu items. Would I think could be improved is the flow of things... You don't see the menu until you're at the register so if it's your first time there, grab the menu and step out of line until you're ready to order. Otherwise, you're holding up a long line. Menus are by the cashier so you have to head there first. Also, there were long weights for the food. I went on a day that it was very busy, and waited for about 45 minutes. They could also benefit from using a number system or placers to put on the table when bringing orders out. I really wanted to like this place since it is local, minority-owned business...I tried and kept coming back despite the mediocre coffee and food and lousy customer service every single time. On my 4th and certainly last time, we stayed in line for over 15minutes, then waited for our orders for over an hour (despite going back to the manager to let him know after 30min). We got tired of waiting, asked to get $ back and he was so rude, asked why I would keep going back there if we thought service was bad. The barista was in training, it was his first day and he had been left completely alone. It took over 20minutes to order and we had to reorder because since it was his first day he was still learning the system. We asked to talk to a manager to let them know how unfair and unacceptable it was for someone to be left on their first day and were completely dismissed. After we had been there for 40mins (20mins to order - not from a line, and 20mins waiting for anything to come out) we asked for a refund. We were told we hadn't had to wait that long and my husband had to essentially argue to get refunded. There was no apology, no acknowledgement of how poor the service was. As we were waiting for someone to give us a refund a woman who had been waiting for an HOUR for eggs came up (still hadn't gotten them)and also asked for a refund. She was refunded and then asked to repay for her coffee. I couldn't believe that wasn't given to her complimentary as an apology for the fact that she had to wait for an hour for food and then get a refund because it had taken so long! She also did not receive an apology. The barista who was training was incredibly kind and I think if the management actually decides to give him the respect of proper training he will be an asset to the establishment.
