Chicken banh mi
Laura W.

When I must be on base, I love to try new dining options, so that's how I ended up with takeaway from Merge Cafe. I think it used to have a different name but same concept. I perused thé menu before arriving and decided I'd go with the chicken banh mi. While I didn't place my order in advanced, when I walked in around 11am on a weekday, it was already pretty crowded, but with no wait to order. The staff was really friendly and I sat at a table (high top) until my food was ready. I was really curious about the quality vs. Price point (which was less than $8) and was pleasantly surprised. The ingredients were fresh, the bread was fresh baked, and the spice level due to the jalapeños and spicy mayonnaise was generous. The space is small so I recommend ordering takeout. I'm happy I tried Merge and can add it to my rotation for local lunch.

*Disclaimer: This cafe is on the marine base, Quantico. If you don't have a military/base ID, you can't get to it.* Just so you know, on Yelp this place is called "Cafe Banh" but if you're looking for it on the street, it's labeled "Merge." Therefore, if you see "Merge," you're in the right place. Inside, you'll notice that the area is very small and mostly cramped. However, there are about 18 chairs that one can comfortably sit in to relax or study while enjoying a beverage and/or meal. With how crowded the establishment can be mixed with its size, the internal temperature of the place can become a little hot. From boba and coffee to sandwiches and treats, this place has more than just mocha chocha coffee goodness. Even though we did not order any food, I saw plenty of it around me to know that it would be a good choice. I saw tasty-looking pastries and sandwiches floating in and out of the hands of many patrons as they scarfed it all down. We had already eaten; therefore, my wife and I only ordered coffee. My wife had a toasted marshmallow latte and I enjoyed a salted caramel latte. Both were completely filled to the top with foam and everything. My wife, the coffee connoisseur in our family, says that's a big deal for those who enjoy these sweet caffeinated treats as she does. Both coffees were just ok. Each had the slightest hint of burnt, bitter coffee as an aftertaste. Next time, we'd both get something different as a second chance. Lastly, the staff is very nice and they are helpful with recommendations. The bathroom is for public use and is all the way in the back. It's not a bad bathroom, clean and neat, but it contains a door that leads directly outside, which makes it feel kind of sketch. Honestly, it's not a terrible place. I'd like to try their lunch to get a better, more well-rounded feel for the entire place. If you're a Starbucks-a-holic, you will not like it. If you're up for trying a new coffee place, this might be for you. Enjoy.

Merge is a simple small cafe with a large menu! Very pleasant place to study, has a calm vibe! I usually stick to the regular iced caramel macchiato and bagel however I highly recommend their Banh Mi sandwich with bulgogi, super rich in flavor! Rachel is amazing at running the place, super sweet and friendly!

Cafe Banh is a small little cafe in Q town. I didn't get a good look at the menu, but I know they have banh mi's and boba. Their boba is pretty sweet. Both times I've been, the boba has been sweeter than average with no option to change the sugar level. The service is relatively quick, you order at the counter and they'll call your name when your order's ready.

Came in for a late lunch and ordered a chicken banh mi. I have eaten plenty of banh mi in my life, so I have a good bench mark to compare. To me, this sandwich is too Americanized, it tasted as though i was eating cole slaw or sauerkraut instead of carrots and daikon. Cucumbers were shaved thin, I believe there were daikon but it was hard to tell with all the Cole slaw or sauerkraut in it. Overall it's tasty and different but if you're looking for an authentic viet sub, this isn't it. They also charge an arm and a leg for a sub, 2 subs cost me $15ish, holy crap. If it was a tasty sub, i wouldn't mind paying that much, but this wasn't the case.

Green Tea Bubble Tea. Delicious!

Waiting for a friend in Q Town. Decided to give this place a try while waiting. Since I already ate a late lunch I ordered a Green Tea Bubble Tea (w/tapioca). A short wait later I had exactly what I ordered. It reminded me of my time in Okinawa and drinking bubble tea. Very good and I recommend giving this place a try. I'll try to return for a coffee.

Vanilla latte Boba with a shot of espresso!

I'm at Quantico often for work. I always go to the same spot for lunch. My Co worker talked me in to trying something different. They had their yelp sticker on the window when we pulled up so I said why not! I saw a lot of reviews that said their Bahn MI sandwiches are not authentic. So I'll say that I have never gone to Vietnam so technically I've never had an authentic Bahn MI. The closest I think I've had was a spot an old co-worker took me to in Annandale. He was Vietnamese and his family knew the owner. For me,Bahn MI Cafe sandwiches were just as good as this place. The other time I've had one was from a food truck. I did try the Bulgogi beef Bahn MI, I guess that in itself isn't traditional. But flavor wise it was GOOD! I exhaled my sandwich. I also tried a Boba. I got the vanilla latte with a shot of espresso. It was good, only downside was the big balls of tapioca. I could've passed on that. I didn't try them (because I'm working on my summer body lol) but the donuts looked delicious. The place was clean, the staff was friendly & I will definitely be back.

I flew in from Texas to Washington and am staying at the Quantico Inn. The first thing I did when I got here was look for a place to eat. I saw the 5 star reviews and I needed coffee in my blood so I desired to go. All Cafes should have a few things Coffee Wifi Relaxing atmosphere A very friendly staff Good and proportionable food This is one of the best cafes I have been to. I ordered the Specialty sandwich Bahnmi Pork and it had really good flavor to it. And a Green tea Boba tea(bubble tea) on the east coast. The slush was great. But the tapioca pearls in this one was little chewy. Also a ice coffee. Better than Starbucks.

They do not have professional coffee machines. Cool to be in Quantico but latte is not good. Ham sub and tea just ok. Small town is cooler than this place to eat and drinks.

Bread is all I got on their signature sub Banh Mai, no meat, veggies or cheese, or if there was meat on this sandwich I couldn't taste it.
