choco cream cheese muffin and m&m cookie
Kenia G.

I've been to this sandwich shop multiple times now, and every visit has been consistently excellent. I've tried a wide range of sandwiches on their menu and every single one has been flavorful, fresh and a great portion One of the best parts of coming here is the atmosphere. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming, and it really makes a difference. You feel like more than just a customer. She always focuses on delivering great customer service. They also offer a selection of baked goods, and let me tell you they are THE BEST. The cookies and muffins are always baked to perfection.I would highly recommend this place!

Tandoori chicken sandwich, missing cheese and lettuce 8. Tandoori Chicken Breast

We emailed months ago as requested and never got a response. Decided to give it another try and both of our sandwiches were wrong again. Mine was missing multiple toppings and had mayo added. We ended up just tossing the sandwiches and going elsewhere. For $15/sandwich after tax and tip it's just too much to have sandwiches with mistakes every time. Especially when some toppings are an extra cost and are then left off. If you try this place, I'd open your sandwich before leaving to be sure it's the one you ordered and isn't missing ingredients.

Brisket sandwich - A sandwich contains shredded meat, possibly beef or pork, topped with melted cheese and fresh tomato slices. It is accompanied by a few potato chips and some greens, served in a paper-lined container. The presentation suggests a casual dining or takeout setting, with the focus on the sandwich and side items.

The amount of meat on my brisket sandwich was extremely disappointing considering the sandwich itself sets you back above 17 dollars. Super disappointed/let down

14. Roasted Eggplant - Two grilled sandwiches with toasted bread, filled with leafy greens, melted cheese, vegetables, and eggs, are stacked on parchment paper. The sandwiches are cut in half, revealing the ingredients inside. The setting appears to be a casual restaurant or cafe with a window and seating area in the background.

Quality ingredients and friendly staff. I had the roasted Eggplant sandwich and it was very tasty. I'll definitely be coming back.

Glad to have found this place! The sandwich was so good, we went back the next day to try another option. From the moment you step in, you are warmly greeted with a smile. There are a lot of great options from hot/cold sandwiches, soup-of-the-day, and salads. The ingredients were fresh and the shop was very clean. We had the Reuben, Tandoori Chicken, and Meatball...which were all tasty and delicious! There are a few tables to dine-in and parking is a shared lot with other businesses. We will definitely be back...enjoy!

Stayed at the Home Suites and Sandwich Republic was next door. Friendly service. I got the Italian and was very satisfied. The only glitch was trying to use the kiosk. It was flaky but I got it to work. The person at the counter was ready to take my order just in case. The sandwich was good. Overall, I would come here again.

Porchetta with all the toppings.

For my first visit to Sandwich Republic I decided to try the Porchetta. This is a delicious sandwich, particularly if you get it with all of the optional toppings. It's pretty reasonably priced for the size and tastes great, so I'm planning on coming back to try a few of the others and see if I can find a favorite. As far as the restaurant itself is concerned, it's about what you would expect for a fast casual sandwich place. What really stood out to me though was how friendly and helpful the staff are here. The sandwich was ready in about five minutes and I left feeling really good about the whole experience. Thanks, Sandwich Republic!

I get the same sandwich every time - braised short rib. My goodness, this is a good sandwich. I'm not usually a sandwich person, but I finish this one every time (usually in two sittings). They are very generous with the short rib and it's just a very tasty meal. Highly recommend.

A sandwich with sliced turkey, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and bacon is shown, cut in half and placed on parchment paper. The sandwich is made with a crusty bread roll and contains fresh ingredients, including shredded lettuce and slices of tomato. The sandwich is partially wrapped in paper with a printed design, and some lettuce pieces are scattered around. The setting appears to be a casual sandwich shop or deli.

Always drove through this area and saw this sandwhich shop but never got a chance to stop in until today. Once inside, we were greeted by the loveliest people. The owners and all other staff were beyond kind. The turkey bacon sandwhich with hot peppers is to die for, everything taste super fresh from the bread, meats and toppings. The portions are very good and was extremely filling. The shop was nice and clean. Would absolutely love to return to try out their other sandwhiches.

The Cuban add tomato - The image shows a person holding a Cuban sandwich with visible layers of meat, cheese, and bread. The sandwich is partially eaten, revealing the filling. Next to it, there is a fried snack, possibly a plantain chip or similar item, placed on red and white checkered paper. In the background, a glass of water and part of a table are visible, indicating a casual dining setting.

Makchang Dodook Korean BBQ - Beef Brisket

Makchang Dodook Korean BBQ

(241 reviews)

My friend grew up in Nova, and his favorite KBBQ is Makchang Dodook. He says it's the best for AYCE…read morein terms of quality and price. I've never heard of this spot before, and you typically will not find me in Springfield. However, a few of us made lunch plans this past Good Friday to take advantage of the $29.99 AYCE weekday lunch pricing. We got three rounds of beef brisket (chadol), one thin & thick pork belly (samgyupsal) each, and half an order of large intestine (daechang). The chadol was a little too fatty than I'd like, but it was high quality and comparable to non-AYCE options like Meokja Meokja. I didn't love the thin samgyupsal as much, but the thick version was so meaty and juicy. The intestines were a fatty treat, and I was good with just a couple bites. We had to ask for ssamjang and sesame oil for sauces, which they were generous with giving. Our server was pretty attentive, but we thought it was weird that he cooked the thin samgyupsal and the beef brisket at the same time. As for sides, we asked for lots of them (sadly our corn cheese never came). The fermented soybean stew was strong, but a bit too salty at the end. The egg bomb was fluffy and delicious. They also have ramen (aka shin ramen) which we enjoyed by adding several pieces of chadol and letting it soak in there to get that deep meaty flavor. I enjoyed the kimchi throughout the meal, which was the perfect "not quite fresh, but still crunchy" texture. Overall, we ate to our heart's content. I definitely would be back for more chadol, thick samgypsal, and a bit of daechang in the future. The $30 pricing is a steal for the amount of food we got, but I'd hesitate to pay for the $40 dinner price. I don't eat enough at AYCE spots to get my money's worth, so I would rather spend that $40 at a non-AYCE spot for higher quality cuts like galbi and rib tips.

Easily some of the best I've had in the area in a long time, and they set the bar high going into the meal. Once we got to the meat, though, it was a little underwhelming. The all you can eat selection was limited, and a lot of the flavors leaned sweet. We were hoping for more savory, classic Korean BBQ flavors. The sauces were fine, but nothing that really stood out. If we came back, we would definitely add on the ribeye or galbi instead of sticking strictly to the all you can eat option. Service was great and attentive, and the atmosphere is solid for the Springfield area. That said, our hood vent almost came off mid grill, which definitely took away from the experience. Overall, a strong start with great banchan and service, but the BBQ itself did not quite deliver.

The actual restaurant feels massive but decorated in a rustic way. I want to give a huge shout out to Alicia. She is such a knowledgeable, approachable, and receptive server. She was on top of refilling drinks, making sure we weren't left alone for too long when we were waiting for our food to come, and just had an overall amazing energy. While we really enjoy all of the servers we've had at Mikes, Alicia takes the cake. If there's any way to provide her with recognition, I would highly vouch for it. She could sell me anything on that menu with that kind of personality! Thank you, Alicia! I'm going to make sure we try to get seated at your table again.

As expected, it was busy, but the restaurant does have a fairly large parking lot which made arrival easier. The setup was interesting. After checking in downstairs, I was given a ticket and directed upstairs for seating. I took the elevator, which offered a clear view of the kitchen below as it ascended... definitely a unique touch. Upstairs, another host staff guided us to our table. The space had a lively feel, roaring with chatter from customers, and I could see parts of the kitchen where food was being prepared over an open flame, which added to the overall atmosphere. For the food, we started with the calamari. It was cooked well and had a nice texture, especially paired with the crispy onion shoestrings, which added a good crunch and flavor. It was served over a lobster sauce, although the lobster flavor wasn't very noticeable. The main issue was the salt level... it was quite heavy! I did enjoy it overall, but I would only recommend it to someone who doesn't have to watch their sodium intake. For entrées, I ordered the steak cooked medium with broccolini. The dish automatically comes with mashed potatoes, and while I was able to substitute the salad for broccolini, there didn't seem to be flexibility with the potatoes. After tasting the mashed potatoes, I wish I was offered to substitute it as it tasted like the brown box we grew up on where you just added water. When the food came out, the steak was closer to medium-well or well done rather than medium, and both the mashed potatoes and broccolini were a bit cold. I chose not to send it back since we waited but it did affect the overall experience. My guest ordered the ribs with fries and coleslaw. The ribs were well-prepared--tender with a clean pull off the bone--and were probably the highlight of the meal. The fries were also very good and came out hot. The coleslaw wasn't as well received, described as having too many of the tougher parts of the cabbage. Overall, the experience had some positives, especially in terms of atmosphere and certain menu items like the ribs and fries. While I did enjoy parts of the meal, it's not somewhere I would personally return to, but it may be worth trying once to form your own opinion.

The cook was perfect on them. The brisket was also very tasty. I didn't mind learn they do not smoke whole brisket but they do smoke both sides of the muscle group. The trim on the brisket wasn't bad at all, the fat was rendered very well, the smoke was clean and not too heavy which is good if you intend on eating lots of this delicious food. When I went the AC unit was on the Fritz which didn't bother me one bit. I felt like I was at a backyard bbq in a shed. I picked the perfect time to visit as I was pretty much the only one. The food was presented very well. I did have a bonus of collard greens (not pictured) which had a good vinegar base. A touch more salt and spice would be perfect for me. Honestly the vinegar base seemed to be the theme with the beans as well. I really enjoyed those over the other two sides. Granted I don't visit bbq places having a lot of weight on the sides. Very popular item here seems to be the burnt ends. They were sold out but I did try what they told me was the point. Inter muscular fat suggested I had the flat but that's another topic considering brisket anatomy is typically referred to as moist or lean. Overall the food was rather good and very close to the local competitors of 2fifty bbq and federalist pig. Less options than both but a good product presented. 4.1 out of 5 combined experience.
