When am I going to learn that some places just do not live up to what they promise. It's not intentional I know that they're probably doing their best but despite that they just can't seem to hit the mark. And that's what I experienced here. This is my first time ever hearing of this place let alone ordering. So because of that I was excited to try something new. First of all I ordered my food through DoorDash because I avoid the downtown Lawrence area. My food was delivered fast and fresh, so what I am about to speak on has absolutely nothing to do with DoorDash because they did their job. Being that it was my first time I wanted to have a monte Cristo sandwich and I love bakery goods so I decided to try their cinnamon roll and cinnamon twist. They also had a drink called "lost trail cream soda", so I ordered that as well. I did not read the reviews on Yelp before ordering so I went into this with my eyes completely open. That being said when the food arrived the first thing I noticed was that my cinnamon roll and cinnamon twist were cold and wrapped in plastic. They were a good size but they were cold. I felt that was kind of weird considering that these are supposed to be fresh baked goods. So to find it cold was a little disheartening. The cream soda came in a bottle with a cap and it was a little small for what they charged me for it but it gave me comfort knowing that it was a drink that no one could tamper with. The biggest disappointment was the Montecristo sandwich. First of all it was extremely greasy. So much so that after biting into it I felt as though I had Chapstick on my lips. Plus it was only 1 half of a sandwich, I mean $7.70 for half a sandwich? Seriously? Well, A bag of kettle chips came with the sandwich so that was OK. I have yet to eat the cinnamon roll but I did eat the cinnamon twist. Unfortunately I had to heat it up in the microwave before I could eat it. When I ate it it was soft and hot due to my microwave, But because it was just Dough and cinnamon and a smidge of sugar, I failed to see what was so special about these baked goods from anyone else who does this. I've had better cinnamon twist from convenient store gas stations. Not that the cinnamon twist was bad it just was ordinary and certainly not worth what I paid for it. I don't really have a problem with this place although my review may seem like I did, but I really don't. I don't know if I'll be back I'm on the fence about that. What I will say is that it has potential to be a very good place but they are just missing the mark and honestly I don't know what they could do to actually hit it, although I do believe the price of what they charge for everything might help because the prices certainly do not match the quality of the food. I'll give them a little time and maybe I'll give them another chance

We ate here for lunch today and loved it! They have several bread type options to purchase as well as pre-made pancake mixes and granola! Some other fun things they have are pies and dog treats! This is such a fun and unique store. I highly recommend checking this cute place out!

Great Harvest Bread Company is an extensive chain of bakeries that exist all over the country, so it's not unique to Lawrence but it's probably the best bakery in town. Nothing about being part of a chain means reduced quality; in fact, it's the opposite. This location maintains the high standards and quality that I've found at every other Great Harvest Bread Co. I've tried. The loaves of bread are soft, substantial, and delicious. The wheat rolls are fantastic. The cookies are big, soft, and tasty as well. The cinnamon burst loaf tastes amazing with some butter on it and makes your kitchen smell wonderful. I could go on about what is good here, but it becomes redundant -- everything here is worth trying at least once, and you'll want more after that. The prices aren't unreasonable for a bakery, and though you pay a little more for a loaf of bread, it's all absolutely worth it. You even get a small (or not so small) sample each time you go for free, so you'll always feel taken care of. There are a few bakeries in Lawrence, and they're all successful to different degrees and are good at different things, but Great Harvest Bread Co never fails to please and is my favorite destination for bread, rolls, and treats. Rating: 5 stars.

A pathetic Philly with lots of onions and a few slices od deli roast beef. Half $6

This place has become a meeting-place standard in my monthly routine. The earlier in the day you…read morevisit, the busier they are- but if you wait, you won't get a curry croquette! The staff are friendly, efficient, and well versed in their products. Some of the furniture could use a refresh (some of the upholstered chairs are looking worn) but overall the decor is pleasant and the entire facility is clean, clean, clean! I often order a hot tea with a savory pastry, but if you're looking for something special, the Mont Blanc pastry and the pistachio matcha latte are very popular. On one recent visit, my friend ordered the apricot pastry, and I got an ube donut and a mushroom tart. So good! The cream under the apricot was so light and fluffy. The combination of long open hours, friendly staff, and very fresh pastries makes this shop an essential spot in west Lawrence.

Not sure if this is a fair review because I didn't actually go to the restaurant. I can't tell you…read moreif it was clean if their selection was great or their prices because my niece bought me a couple of donuts after hearing me say I would like a cookie or a doughnut and the Hotbox in Lawrence was no longer open. I gave the twist a three average because that's how they tasted. They weren't glazed twist, they were baked and sprinkled with sugar and maybe some cinnamon. They weren't "the donut" I was used to. They weren't too sweet, which was good, but they really didn't taste like a doughnut it was more like sweet bread.

We got six flavors to try and here's our ratings (refer to photo). Pandan Coconut - 10/10, our fav by a long shot!!!! Bavarian - 6.5/10, needed a bit more flavor but we loved the creaminess. Strawberry Rhubarb - 6/10 (I liked it more than my partner but he's not a big strawberry fan, worth trying for sure!!). Everything Donut - 7/10, a little in the salty side but fun to try for sure!! Classic Cinnamon - 7/10, light, fluffy and airy. Nutella - 4/10, the Nutella was super thick inside this so you have to strategically plan your bites so you're getting and even amount of donut to Nutella ratio, my first bite was like eating a big spoonful of peanut butter, obviously tasty tho Nutella is delish. We would definitely come back!! Getting two coconut next time though!

I don't recommend the savory donuts. I've tried the everything bagel flavor and it was way too salty. I dusted off most of the flavoring and it was still very salty. The sweet donuts are better. I also like the plain sourdough donut ($4) with no filling because I don't have much of a sweet tooth. My favorite flavor is the pandan one because it's not too sweet (saying "it's not too sweet" is a meme but also kind of an ultimate compliment for Chinese taste buds). I recently went on at 8:30 am on a Friday, waited in line for about 20 minutes and was able to buy the donuts I wanted. They always have a line but it seems like you can still have a solid chance of getting donuts if you line up to an hour even after opening. They also have some batch drinks on tap, a nice space with enough seating, and even some board games and books.
