Love this spot! When I'm in the area I'll always stop here to get a delicious loaf of bread for my mornings. Located kiddy corner to kahala mall. Today I got a garlic cheese loaf which was about $9 and a pizza bun that costed around $4. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the pizza bun before devouring it, but I can assure you, it was good. My sister told me about this place a few years back and I always come here for their savory breads as I haven't found anywhere else that does them quite as good. I also always intend to try their sweeter breads but always get distracted by the savory stuff. They also have a menu of sandwiches which I haven't yet, but mean to try. The staff is always really friendly, I don't think I've ever had a bad experience here. I must note though, that the parking is a little strange to get to coming from the west side. You have to turn into a skinny one way lane that is located between a shopping strip mall with eateries Domo cafe, assaggios, and ups and the Kaimuki YMCA. Someone introduced me to Great harvest bread by gifting me a scone. I thought it was tasty and crumbly. My unplanned trip was due to visiting a pet store next door. The location is kind of hidden by the highway. It's few minutes away from the kahala mall. I would suggest putting the address in google maps. As I entered I noticed the bread rack and counter. It was a nice assortment of baking goods. There is also a section to sample their spreads, cookies, scones, and breads offered that day. I believe it changes daily, and they are very generous with their samples:) I had eaten their blueberry and peach cream cheese scones before. Both were dense, pieces of cream cheese cut into small blocks mixed with fruit made it unique to the scones I have eaten in the past. The size of the scones are big enough to share with two people. On this particular visit, I ordered the ube bar. It had a nice ratio of a buttery shortbread cookie layered with ube, and topped with brown sugar crumbles then dressed with powered sugar. It was good flavor and texture. You would think it would be overwhelming sweet and the answer is no. I come here every so often, and every time I come, I leave satisfied. I always come for their white chocolate bread. Mondays is the white chocolate with cranberries and Thursdays is white chocolate with blueberries. Even though they open at 6:30 am, their bread may not be ready, so call to make sure the bread you want is ready. If it isn't, you can always request to put a loaf on hold to pick up later that day. It's been so many years since I've visited Great Harvest Bread because the location can be a little hard to get to if you don't know where it is. Today I just happened to get my blood drawn at DLS right next door and decided it was the perfect opportunity to grab a baked snack. My first thought was to get one of their scones, but I realized my daughter probably wouldn't eat the cream cheese inside it and this was to share with her. Since it was the afternoon there wasn't much to choose from, but I decided on a slice of their pumpkin spice bread. I adore anything pumpkin and this did not disappoint! It ate a few bites on the way to pick-up my daughter and immediately regretted only getting one slice. It's so soft and full of fragrant pumpkin and cinnamon flavorful! My daughter who doesn't always like pumpkin things took a bite and replied: "Oh man that's good!" A visit to Great Harvest is going to be a weekly thing for me now that I MUST have my pumpkin spice snack with a cup of hot coffee or tea. I ended buying 3 loaves (2 for us and 1 we gave away). We made French toast and it was deeeelicious. I miss the store that was in Waimalu shopping center. Nothing like starting an early morning with a needle stick at Diagnostic Labs next door. I got there at 5:50am and there are a dozen people ahead of me. Great. I get to start the day waiting 30 minutes for a needle stick. Needed to do something to feel better so I stopped next door at Great Harvest Bread. I decided on a blueberry cream scone. Slightly sweet and not too crumbly to eat in my car. I know it is odd to give five stars based on one scone, but it was good enough for me to want to go back to try the cinnamon rolls. I haven't been to the Kahala side of the island for a very long time so my hubby and I decided to take a ride out there. We stopped in at this place because we we were getting heavenly smells of their fresh bread baking. And since we knew where this place was, it was easy to find. Otherwise it's a bit tricky to find. Walked in and was helped right away. I asked what the specials of the day were and saw all their breads on the racks cooling off. So we ordered the Honey wheat and the Sourdough loaves to go. There were many other breads and they all looked fresh and smelled really good. And since they were still cooling off, I must say the smell of all the breads were just wafting straight through my nose and out the door to our car as well. And because our loaves were still warm, they could not be sliced. On the way home, our car smelt like a bread bakery and I couldn't wait to get home and slice them up. Made two sandwiches, one of each bread and together, we devoured them with some chips and OJ. Yum, yum, yummy! The shop does make breakfast and lunch sandwiches for sale at reasonable prices too. Wish there was still a Great Harvest near me! Was gifted with a loaf of STUFFING BREAD, yes Stuffing Bread! Served it on Thanksgiving and it was a hit! Wheat bread with awesome stuffing herbs on top and baked in. The aroma was amazing, as if it had just come out of the oven. Great firm but moist texture of REAL bread. Even though we had bread stuffing, family enjoyed this bread with butter, too. Daughter has been eating a slice each day for breakfast, she likes it so much. Neighbor didn't have bread stuffing at her house on Thanksgiving so she was grateful to have some to get the wonderful flavor of stuffing the next day. Great Harvest never disappoints. Now that I know there still is a location out in Hawaii Kai, I'll have to make a run to get a sandwich for lunch one day and check out what other breads they have. Always been a fan of all of their delicious scones, especially the blueberry cream cheese. The very last time I visited the store was about 2 years ago. We LOVE Great Harvest and is one of the best sandwich/bread/bake good place! My Mom (Kelly.G) and I have been here numerous times and every time we leave satisfied! Today I got one of my fav sandwiches from there which is the Chicken Kahala and we also got sourdough bread (amazing), cinnamon bread (even more amazing!), and some other treats which included: a POG bar, warrior bar, and protein bar. All in all they were all super delicious and AMAZING!!! The interior area of the place is very cozy and you can see the selection of bread around the room. The breads here are good. But what happened to the service? Went there on a Saturday about 1pm and there was one person working behind the counter. He was a young guy who projected a bored affect that indicated he really didn't want to be there. When I asked if they had sandwiches he proceeded to tell me all the things they didn't have. I ordered a sandwich anyway and it was sloppily made and wrapped. I won't return for a few months. Maybe by then they will have hired better employees. read more

The bread here is delicious! I was introduced to the pizza bread by my sister several years ago and loved it! So of course when I got home to LV I had to search for a store nearby. There weren't many nearby, I had to drive all the way to Henderson only to find that they didn't offer the pizza bread!! I guess that's why I don't go to GHBC in Nevada as much. I like the cheddar garlic, pumpkin chocolate bread, rosemary just to name a few. Today I got a fresh out of the oven pizza bread!! The chicken salad sandwich is one of the best I've ever had. It's like 40% walnuts, which I totally support. You could almost describe it as a walnut salad sandwich with chicken. I'm not sure what the rules on these things are. Anyways, it's great. Also they have things thing called pizza bread. It's like a road loaf with some pizza looking bits, and while it's hard to look at it and picture how it'll be pizza like, I'll be goddamned if it doesn't just taste exactly like pizza. Thursday March 24, 2022 Whenever, I am looking for something to drink or eat for the first time. I always look for something that is out of the ordinary that catches my eyes or the smell to my nose. I was looking at this Irish Soda Bread and thinking what is all this white stuff and I wonder what it tastes like? Also, it feels so very heavy for bread! So, I decided to buy it and take it home to try it. I took it out of the package and I smelled the white stuff. No smell, no taste. I started cutting it up into easy to eat size slices. I tasted it. For me, the first thing came to mind is it's a heavy, dense, wheat, raisin bread! A little on the dry side. But, it tastes good! It's always good to try new things and that way you know what it is the next time around. I will buy this again knowing what it is now. I am glad that I tried it. So, for anyone that likes raisin bread you should try the Irish Soda Bread! I will continue to look and try more things that Great Harvest has to offer when I happen to go there. I work for the Diagnostic Laboratory Services company and I visit this location often during work time. Plus, I live right up the street too. A half a mile walk. But, I will drive there. I've passed by this place so many times but never went in. The wonderful scents from the fresh baked bread almost had me a couple of times. This time, when I searched Yelp for a sandwich place, this was the first on the list. So I decided it was time to try it. There are a couple tables for you to sit and eat at as well as a small bar along the wall. The scent of the fresh baked bread is still as yummy as ever and you can ask for samples of what they have that day. They also sell salads, desserts and other deliciousness!!! They used to have a location in Aiea in the same shopping complex as City Mill. I was so sad when they closed. This location always had the best tasting and texture for breads and pastries. And today, they did not disappoint. Had a sample of the Cinnamon Chip and decided to purchase it. It was nice and chewy and filled with Chocolate Chips - just enough when you need that chocolate fix! Disappointing visit to great harvest bakery today. Normally the selection and sandwiches are very satisfying and well made with fresh ingredients, but today was a little different. They didn't have bacon or lettuce and only had sourdough or honey whole wheat bread for sandwiches. No rosemary garlic, white bread or others. I ended up trying something new that didn't need bacon or lettuce. I ordered the cubano sandwich ($10.25), without dill pickles, to share with my husband and when we started to eat our sandwich we were sad to find it very thin and not filled. There were barely any pickled onions and the cheese and meat didn't even cover all the bread. I am also disappointed because I was trying to call ahead to order and to make sure they had what I wanted but the phone was off the hook and just beeped. Oh well, we still ate it and the ham, turkey and swiss with honey mustard on sourdough was a good snack just not worth $10.25 (as much as a decent poke bowl). read more

I stopped in at 6pm to buy some bread. The loaf I bought cost $7 (all the others were $9 and above) and it turned out to be SO dry and stale that I can barely eat it. It's hard to eat even with lots of toppings/jam/etc. spread on it. I wonder if they sold me day-old bread. The only bread on sale is 2-day-old, which is half price, which still means paying $3.50 for a block of cardboard. The quality to price ratio is way off. Note: someone could argue that buying bread in the evening is always risky; but if the bread gets *that* stale by 6pm, then they should sell all bread at a steep discount after a certain hour. read more
