These ladies do a wonderful job. This is our goto place for bread. I love the Farmhouse White and my wife loves the 10 grain and Dakota bread. The other breads are top notch also but I'm gettin' old and I can't grab a loaf of of their cinnamon bread and finish in a day any more. Good bread and a very friendly staff. I'm not real sure why this place has operating hours when they don't follow them. I've never come across such a thing lol. I placed a DoorDash pick up order during my lunch break, and I arrived for pickup (doors open) for staff to inform me that it had been canceled because they were closed even though I arrived 20 minutes before closing time at 3pm. Extremely inconsiderate considering I only had a 30 minute lunch break so yes, I went lunchless today due to their bad business practice lol. You would think that if somebody showed up 20 minutes before close for their pickup order, they would have offered to make the sandwich for me. Now that I think about it... My wife and I parked near by with the intent of waking past this place, and we did initially... but the splendid and tempting odor of fresh baked bread emanating from the building drew us in as we were returning back to our car. As we stepped through the threshold the teasing scent we enjoyed earlier became an overwhelming aroma of freshly baked bread and all of the goodness there in. Though we had no need for any of the things they sold we were compelled to purchase by the richness in the air. After completing our transaction the smiling face behind the counter offered a heavenly slice of hot freshly baked honey wheat bread. We gleefully accepted and he dutifully carved a steaming slab of fresh goodness from the loaf and bestowed it upon us. The bread was delicious, warm, somewhat sweet and went great with the butter on the counter-top. My wife complained that the bread seemed a little "doughy" and had a bit much flour. What I think she really meant was that this bread is filling, delicious, and worthy of being enjoyed alone. read more

Excellent spelt bread. The ten grain is also really nice. The fresh milled flour and no preservatives really make this bread stand out. The bread isn't compromised in the freezer, which is helpful since we rarely burn through a loaf before it starts to harden. Given the density, I find it perfect for toast and a bit too heavy for sandwiches (my husband disagrees). Compared to grocery store organic bread, the price is only $1.50 more per loaf. I wandered in here with a friend on a Saturday morning for coffee and breakfast, and it was perfect. We got the most delicious breakfast sandwiches on their homemade sourdough and Dakota seed bread. Really wish I'd bought a load of the seed bread, that stuff is bomb. My latte was free because they were still learning how to make coffee (they're bakers by training but trying to beef up their barista chops). The cashier was very sweet and apologetic for the fact that after we ordered 5 breakfast sandwiches with egg and paid for them they realized they only had a couple eggs left and couldn't fulfill our order. I mean this in only the most constructive way possible, but when you changed the recipe for of the berry cream cheese scone a couple of years ago, it was by far for the worse. They're smaller, the scone doesn't taste as good, and there are less berries and cream cheese. Today I had one berry and one small bit of cream cheese. I basically ate a big, overly sweet biscuit. Please go back to that old recipe! I believe it changed when ownership did. :/ Also, other Great Harvests have an apple cinnamon bread that is to die for. You should make that too! Great Harvest has an excellent selection of breads and sweets. Breads are reasonably priced and look fluffy and wholesome. Any whole grain bread is sure to please, and recipes accentuate grains over sugars. There are, nevertheless, some excellent sweets available, particularly in the morning, and the portion sizes are generous for the price. Try the Mixed Berry Scones. The berries are tart, and the grains in the scone really pop out with just the right bit of buttery sweetness. Cinnamon rolls are a close second, but do not bring your Weight Watchers calculator. Just the sight of the rolls will have you throwing your weekly points out the window. And rightly so. You deserve a cinnamon roll.... At a quick glance, Great Harvest looks like any bakery, but at a slow glance, one finds chipped paint, cluttered walls, and cheap seating (Subway-esque). I'll come in for breads for sure, but I'm not sure that I'll dine there often, even for a quick breakfast and newspaper reading. It just doesn't have that I'll-sit-here-and-eat feel. Customer service is generally very good. More often than not, the cashiers are helpful, cheerful, and fast. Today, unfortunately, I witnessed a bit of a hiccup though. When asked why the clock on the wall was still an hour behind, the cashier answered that the owner was out of town and some things had fallen through the cracks. Daylight savings was Sunday; it is now Tuesday. When the owners go out of town, they trust their employees to maintain the business. Clock maintenance? C'mon, must I use the time-loathed bakery cliche of "easy as pie"? Change the clock. Whatever the clock says, if you like great breads, pop into Great Harvest, and while you might be thinking about taking something home with you, you'll likely finish it in the car. read more
