The Only reason that I've given this company 1 star is because to be able to leave a review, at least 1 star has to be given. I recently moved out of an apartment on Northwest Ave in Bellingham. I know for a fact that the carpet was clean and didn't have any pet stains, because I purchased carpet cleaner specifically for deep pet stains and had gone over the entire carpet twice, and had even checked the carpet with a UV light, not one pet stain. But, according to great floors, (the property management had used this particular company to do an inspection after I had moved out) there were a lot of pet stains and almost $1,000 was deducted from my deposit to replace the carpet. I truly believe in karma, because great floors lied!! Absolutely no way that there were ANY pet stains in the carpet at my previous apartment!! Extremely poor experience with Great Floors. The issues were countless - no calls from installation department confirming time the installer would arrive; , blatant lie by one cost estimator(said he also does installs) that he is at all installs (he never showed up); no passdown to actual person who did the install on scope of job (btw they use independent contractors not great floor employees for install); sales person called 15 min after company was supposed to show up that they "couldn't" do the install because carpet was defective (miraculously they received a new roll 3 days later); salesperson claimed twice that service/install department tried calling - however cell phone showed no missed calls; installer left job partially done and said customer needed to arrange for additional prep to allow carpet to wrap around edge of floor (even though it was very obvious this was supposed to be part of installation and Great Floors had a 3 people out to quote/measure the job); excuse after excuse after excuse. (Took a photo of his business card, if you want to reach out!) and he was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. He had come to our property to check out the space before we actually moved up here and I was blown away by how much he remembered about the house before we actually got to meet him in-person. He was really an asset when helping us to pick out appropriate color flooring that would match our existing space. Great Floors also allows you to take home the flooring swatches to get a better idea of what will work best. Two stars because the installed floor is beautiful and precisely what we asked for and Isiah was very helpful. The bad: Halfway through the project, we were charged over $200 extra on spot-far more than what could be construed as "minor adjustments" After the installer left we had cracks and scrapes in parts of our walls, and our door frame was found cracked as well. After advising management of this, we dismissively informed that no remedy would be issued and we were on our own for the repairs associated with the install. Great Floors good prices but make sure you take lots of "before" pictures to your walls and d and pay close attention to what you're signing! Our Interior Designer recommended GF so we used them for carpet. The measurement was easy, but everything that followed was a comedy of errors. Bob was the only person designated to help us but he did not return calls or emails, was out of the office often and didn't have a backup. David, our installer, "cut so many corners" that another professional had to return and completely redo both staircases. In locations (inside and outside corders) where the knife cut too much off or the kicker created a hole, the solution was to glue carpet fibers in place. We have a vertical peaked seam that runs the entire length of the room, possibly created by improper stretching (no power stretcher was used), and we are supposed to accept this as "unavoidable". Places were not seamed the first time and had to be glued instead. The installer damaged our railing with his kicker in multiple places and I am supposed to get quotes and argue my case for reimbursement. I have been dealing with remedying these issues with GF for three months. In order to get a phone call or email returned I had to email the Vice President of the company, Jim McKay. The store manager, Derek, told me that his guys worked hard and when you "look at carpet all day" it's difficult to catch errors and he was unsympathetic to my concerns. Had I not escalated my issues I suspect I would have been brushed off by Derek. If you absolutely must use GF only have Ricky perform your installation and be prepared for a circus. I have tons more pictures than I am posting. The photos demonstrate the crappy installation, but fail to capture the pathetic customer service. read more

There must be some kind of magical force field that renders customers invisible when they walk through the door. Employees don't acknowledge or greet you. You're completely on your own. If you have questions they might grudgingly get up and help you. I've never experienced such bad service anywhere. They lost out on a $1,200 sale. read more

Fifteen years ago I had tile flooring installed in hallways, a dining room and even a fireplace. Last year I decided to update my kitchen and bathroom with tiles as well. I was shown samples that were similar to what I already had which were no longer available. A representative came out to the house, measured and photographed what was to be done and told me I would be called. Perhaps Covid interrupted any further response, but nobody called, so I called to see what happened. The same salesperson explained that he could no longer get the tiles I had seen, that he would send me further samples on a website and work-up a quote for the job. Once again a representative came out. I agreed to tiles shown online, was told samples would be ordered. Again, I didn't hear from them, so called another salesman to check on my "order." He said he would get back to me: he didn't, nor has anyone ever responded to me in more than six months. Inexcusable and unsatisfactory customer service to say the least. I realize that because of the pandemic supplies and work could be difficult to be fulfilled, but I would expect to hear a representative of the company to respond in some way. i own a childcare center so remodeling is a huge ordeal. In order to replace our flooring we had to relocate children. Thats what I told the Great Floors manager (I'll leave the name out for now). A few days before my flooring was due to arrive, I called just to make sure everything was on track since we were ready to move the children into different classrooms. That is when I was told that it wouldn't arrive for another month. Oops they forgot to call us and let us know. Of course that meant that it was too late for us to go elsewhere. That is when the manager told me he would get me the product in a week so we did what we could and waited. Our floors are prepped and ready and now we've been waiting as they string us along day by day with excuse after excuse. I'm trying to figure out what to do. New children are due to start in one week and we have to put the room together and have everything done. Washington state is a Childcare desert and 20 children will not have a spot. As I've said, I told them how critical it was that we got our floor as promised on schedule. I'm not sure at this point what to do, but one thing I know for sure is I'll be talking about this for a long time. If for some reason, it arrives tomorrow, which is the last thing I've been told, I will change this review. But if not, I'll keep everyone updated across western Washington on whatever platform I can speak this truth because honesty is important. Thats what we teach the children. read more

My wife and I finished a new custom eco house this year and used Great Floors for all our flooring needs...gorgeous oak flooring and marmoleum. Scott W was INCREDIBLY PATIENT AND HELPFUL as our project was quite complicated. Scott is also VERY knowledgeable and clearly "knows the ropes" as there were quite a few issues with distributers to deal with. This was our second house build where we used Great Floors exclusively and would do so again if the occasion presented itself. I am rewriting my review so it may appear on Yelp. Not sure why my first review didn't make the cut so I am going into more detail. I've been a homeowner for over 30 years and have replaced flooring many times. I have never had such poor service as I had from this store and the salesman I was unfortunate enough to end up with. We chose and set up the installation of our whole house LVP flooring two months prior to installation date. Since there would be no toilet for the estimated three days of installation, it was important to us to plan it out. The first surprise is when the salesman charged us for the whole $12,000 job up front. We are accustomed to paying a portion of the bill before installation and then the final portion after installation. This raised a red flag but unfortunately not enough to stop the purchase. Upon arrival at our home on Day Four of the three-day job I was surprised to see one guy working, frantically sweeping up and reinstalling the baseboard. This one guy goes on to explain that his buddy had to leave and he did most of the work himself. And to top it off, the salesman didn't order enough flooring so the job was incomplete. So here we are, with an incomplete floor, uninstalled baseboard all over the place like some kind of jigsaw puzzle, and no help whatsoever in moving at least a bed out of the garage for this old, disabled solo lady to sleep on.... When I tried to find out what happned from the salesman, I was met with a level of rudeness I had never encountered before. The upshot is this job won't be finished until a month after our original completion date due to lack of materials. read more

We had carpet installed and the stair treads were not finished as how instructed to the salesperson Curtis. The installers were late by 3 hours and did not clean up after themselves. I left a message with the salesperson with no response back. Wouldn't recommend Great Floors to anyone. read more

Picking the carpet was a nice experience. But after that we had to do all the phone calls to get the update and/or remind them to make calls to the manufacturer if it was in stock. Scott would say he would call us the next day to let us know. We would call him a few hours after he said he would call and I was told the manufacturer is back east and it's too late to call. Duhhhhh....you said you were going to call first thing in the morning. There was no "follow thru" when he said he would call. Even for the final payment scott never called. My husband got an email after the job was done saying we were supposed to make the payment the day before. We were thinking "then call us!" For a project coordinator I felt like we had to "babysit" for the job to get coordinated and we always had to call for the information. Our carpet layers were running late and we never got a phone call saying that was happening. We hung around the house waiting. Basically the job wasn't started til the next day in the afternoon. The carpet layers did a fantastic job. They cleaned up as they went. I think the main carpet layer was Rico. I would definitely have him do another carpet job. If we get new carpet again I will be shopping at a different carpet store. read more

We visited Great Floors yesterday and had the best experience. We were greeted by Scott W and when I told him we were doing some remodeling and were looking for carpet, he asked some questions, then showed us the area to look, explained pricing/quality, etc. After we picked out some samples to take home, I told him we will also be picking out luxury vinyl click lock in the near future and he took the time to show us several options. Again explaining costs and quality of the various brands/styles and never once pressuring us to make a decision right then, or spend more than our budget. Because of this experience and the time Scott spent with us (with zero pressure), we will be purchasing everything we can from Great Floors for our home remodel, and, as a general contractor ourselves, reccomend our customers. read more

We went in to great floors in Bellingham today to look at some tile. No one said hello when we came in. No one asked if they could help us. There were three, maybe even four people working and no one was doing anything. One of the guys was even on his phone, as you can see in the photo. We were there for about an hour and no one said a damn thing to us. It was pretty appalling and needless to say, we will never be back. read more

I left two pieces of unused carpet from the carpeting in my family room to be bound around the edges so I could use them as mats to protect the carpeting in my entry. They said it would be week or so and they would call me when finished. They never called so, after 2 1/2 weeks, I called them. They then said they would be done that day. When I went to pick them up they could not find them. They said the man that did the binding had gone home. They seemed un sympathetic. Finally they located the mats but there was no price on them so I could not pay. More time went by and finally they gave me a price. When I went to pay with a credit card they said they did not accept credit cards. ! Why didn't they tell me that when I brought them in ? Fortunately I had a check i could give them. What an unprofessional fiasco! I had a great experience with this store 9 years ago, so I was totally confident when I went back for more carpeting in September. Again the staff was courteous. But the salesperson promised one installation date [while my rental was vacant], then miscommunicated about a change, leaving me erroneously waiting for the installer who never came. They did the installation the next week while my new tenants were moving in. Then I learned they botched the installation, trimming the carpet too long, so it prevented two bedroom doors from closing properly. Correcting this took TWO more visits over several weeks. Yiikes! Great floors did a terrible job installing flooring in our house. Transition pieces pop off, vinyl was slapped over old vinyl and you can see the seams from the old vinyl. Nails were sticking up where the carpeting was put down and people stepped on them. Repeatedly they said they would come and fix it and they have not. Thumbs down. read more

This place could have been great if is not for the employees. After checking all the apparently amazing selection of different floors, I selected one and ordered it... Well, happens that THEY DON'T KNOW WHICH ONES OF THOSE FLOOR SAMPLES ARE DISCONTINUED. They don't check with the manufacturers until you order, go home, and wait for days and days. Then, they call you to say you need to chose another floor. That process happens once, and again, and again... Then, I could realize they have many discontinued products like if they were being produced and commercialized. It's props, but they don't know it. And, no matter how early you start the floor shopping, you are late, have the contractor at home, and still no floor. In addition, THEY DON'T KNOW PERIPHERAL BUT NECESSARY MATERIALS that go with the floors. Things as essential as the glue or sealer that the manufacturers produce for that specific type of material. On top, THEY DON'T ACCEPT RETURNS. If you try to return something they have a modus operandi that is like a mob: they invent all types of street tricks, covering each other and telling you all types of children stories. I had to deal with several of them, and I can assure you all of them are low life people who have been placed behind a counter. And they don't know how to leave behind that miserable life when coming to work. They treat you like if they were still in a trailer park. And the worst of all is the guy always sucking a Lollipop. He doesn't know anything, he misleads you, he lies in front of your face. DON'T GET RIPPED. The appearance of the store is deceiving for many reasons. These people are just awful. The employees are not worth the trip. I regret I didn't go to Walkers Carpet One. For my next renovation (which is going to happen next summer) I go to Walkers Carpet One which I have already visited. They have even designers who help you, they're amable people, and a much better structured type of business. read more

Great Floors is not that great when it comes to standing behind any warranty. My wife and I purchased expensive Berber Carpet from them and we were told that it was back by a great warranty, well apparently the warrenty is only for wear and if wear causes the carpet to pill in a manner that the vacuum unravels then your on your own. Great Floors wants nothing to do with you, apparently there is no incentive to help or assist the customer in any manner. Anyone thinking of purchasing carpet from Great Floors should consider any other supplier. Avoid Great Floors at all costs. read more

We ordered tile back on 02/14/2015. My husband called around the first of March and was told because of the longshoreman strike the tile was delayed and that it would be in the first of April and that they would give us a call. Never did hear anything back. May husband had to call again on April 25, 2015. The tile was in but we never received a phone call stating that the tile had arrived. The receipt shows that it arrived in the their store April 22, 2015. How long would it have sat there if we hadn't called? It took 2.5 half months to get the tile and no communication from Great Floors. What really bugs me the most is the lack of communication. If they would have kept us posted on what was going on it would have been really helpful. I will go elsewhere for carpeting, tile or hardwood products. read more
