There are a whole slew of reasons I'm giving this company 1 Star. First off, the owner Todd would…read morenot come look over the job beforehand so we were on the same page. Second, he is dishonest about pricing. Third, as the owner, you are responsible for your employees. His worker damaged the paint on my siding using gorilla tape instead of blue painters tape. Not just 1 area, the whole bottom plank adjacent to my porch. We won't even get into the names he called my wife (cuss words) when she called to have the job finished. The job is still not finished. I'm in a service oriented business who recommends good fellow contractors and Todd is not one of them. I have documented the way he spoke to me & my wife & have documented the damage. The job is still not finished & we are to the point we don't even feel safe having Todd back over. Save yourself the trouble & use someone else. Oh & he's been paid in full. If you'd like to know more on Todd, do a background check.

We were very disappointed with our experience overall. The project started with one estimate, but…read morecosts alsmost doubled without clear communication or advance approval, particularly with the electrical work, where only part of the originally discussed scope was completed despite much higher charges. We ended up removing items from the project just to stay closer to the original budget. We also had concerns with the quality of the patching and paint work after the electrical installation, which was left in poor condition, and we were then asked to pay extra to complete or correct it. Finally, after measuring our pantry, the contractor ordered approximately custom doors for $1200 that ultimately did not fit the opening and would have required modification during installation. After consulting another contractor, we learned there were much simpler and less expensive options available. Overall, communication, scope clarity, workmanship, and transparency around pricing and change orders were lacking.

After many months in the home the builder started building the fences in a normal manner where all pickets face the same direction. Contacted HOA and found out policy had been changed, got approval to have our fence changed to normal. Dino came out, took the time to ask questions and understand my goal. Since our fence was only one year old he felt we would need little if any materials. He provided a very reasonable estimate and said it would take 1-2 days. They got here early (7am) as promised, were well prepared, set up all their equipment and got started. His guys were very careful pulling apart the existing pickets and were able to reuse everything. Everything went smoothly and quickly, so they were able to complete the work in 1 day. They packed up their stuff and hauled off the excess materials. Would highly recommend Dino and his team.

One was privacy, on front, ours was iron on front and it's about an acre the had to fence off on 3 sides with chain link & the other neighbor only had the posts put in because our ground apparently is not made of dirt, just rock and unlike us, that neighbor has some great carpentry skills. We also had several stone columns. The masonry guys came on the date scheduled & on time. We were amazed at how quickly they went up. Employees were very nice & gave us our privacy. No slacking off. Very respectful. It was near the holidays so it took a little while before the front went up. went But they also had to order additional parts for a change our neighbor made. They came earlier than scheduled. Those employees were also great. Never saw them even turn to look at our home as they walked back and forth through the back (our many windows have no curtains). They came on time, never saw them slack off. I don't think I even saw them leave for lunch. When they were done for the day, they cleaned up. The foreman even noticed some materials we didn't order that would help keep the fence from moving around. So it was ordered & they installed same day. Not only that, the only winter day we had in texas happened to be the last day they had to finish. He asked if they coukd work on sunday & we said of course. But he told us they might wait until winter was over, on Monday. But the next day on Sunday, when it was crazy cold, they showed up and by the end of the day they were done! Foreman came to ask if it was all good. And then they left on their merry way. Our emails with questions were answered promptly and usually the same day. The fence looked great. A couple weeks later, maybe earlier, we received another email to check in on us & find out if there was anything that we needed. Highly recommend.

I'm writing this review for my overall experience dealing with Northwest Fence & Iron and not for…read morethe finished product. Everything went fairly smoothly up until the day of the installation of my iron fence surrounding my home. A few days prior to the scheduled installation, I asked the representative if there would be someone supervising the installation who speaks fluent English. He said there wouldn't be anyone supervising because his wife was scheduled to go into labor on that day. He reassured me there would be no issues and the workers would know EXACTLY what they needed to do. I reiterated to him how important it is they install the iron fence low enough to prevent my dog from digging a hole escaping. I reluctantly agreed to proceed with the installation based on his reassurances. The day of the installation, the workers showed up at my door and the first thing one of the workers did was hand me a cell ph and someone with Northwest told me, "Can you tell them where to install the fence" I told him I already went over all this with my rep and I do not feel confident communicating with workers who do not speak English. I ended the call and immediately called the rep and told him that someone needs to get down here and communicate everything we had already went over. The rep came down and told the workers where to install everything. I asked him who I should contact at the office if there is a problem and reminded him what he told me about the workers knowing exactly what they need to do. He responded by saying, "I thought it wasn't an issue to you that they don't speak English?" This was NOT what I stated and told him I only agreed to allow the installation to proceed because of his reassurance they would not need any additional guidance during the installation. Sure enough, after they got started prepping the ground and installing the fence, the gate was being installed too high, leaving a large gap at the bottom, and I tried to communicate this with the workers with no luck. I told the workers to stop completely and, at this point, I was really starting to lose my patience. I immediately called the Northwest office and told them the fence was being installed too high from the ground and how they needed to send someone over immediately or I would be sending the workers away for the day. They sent someone down about 30 minutes later and he communicated with the workers, the proper way to install the fence. I asked the supervisor to stick around to ensure there were no more issues. They 'completed' the installation and they had forgotten to attach adhesive to the caps on the fence posts as well as failing to install the latch on the side gate. They had to return two separate times, requiring me to take time out of my day to be here, to complete the gate lock installation and attach the caps properly. I also started finding pieces of sharp metal in my lawn they failed to clean up which posed a major safety hazard for our family and dog. All of this nonsense could have been avoided if the representative assigned to my project would have scheduled the installation at a time when he could have been present to supervise and inspect the work being done by the subcontractors they hired...

We made the mistake of paying them in March for the full job when they weren't done yet, there were only a few small things to be done and they had been doing fine up to then. They have not been returning calls, texts or emails, and when we did manage to get through to them from a different phone number they claimed they had been having issues with their phones and promised to send someone out. They sent someone out once, and they did not finish the job. Mr. Lopez and his crews have installed and maintained the cedar fences at our home, as well as many of the homes on our street and neighborhood, for years. His pricing is very reasonable and regular maintenance -- every few years or so -- is a great way to protect your investment and lower your longterm costs. I've included a few photos of the work his crew completed on the restoration of our fence last month. He also installed new fencing on the sections facing the street. His mixed approach saved us a significant amount of money with the 15-year old fence looking as new as the new fence. The photos do not fully capture the final color and the clarity of the grain. If you are considering a new fence, restoring your old fence -- or combination of the two -- it is worth your while to speak with Mr. Lopez.

Jose worked patiently with me to design and build a custom steel modern fence. I've struggled to find fencing contractors who had the knowledge, ability, and interest in taking on my job. He has a very good sense of modern design and also form vs. function. The fence included a 14' rolling custom gate and full automation. His pricing was excellent and he has worked well with my budget. In fact, we've gone over my budget because I've had him extra work beyond the original quote. The initial estimate was around 13k and we've gone much higher with additional work. We have done around a 30% deposit and then payments based on completion. I'm glad to support a local small business. His crew has been considerate of the work site and have done some extra things like moving plants, etc. Given the custom nature of the fence, it has taken some time to build as he has fit me in with other jobs in the area.
