I'm writing this review for my overall experience dealing with Northwest Fence & Iron and not for…read morethe finished product. Everything went fairly smoothly up until the day of the installation of my iron fence surrounding my home. A few days prior to the scheduled installation, I asked the representative if there would be someone supervising the installation who speaks fluent English. He said there wouldn't be anyone supervising because his wife was scheduled to go into labor on that day. He reassured me there would be no issues and the workers would know EXACTLY what they needed to do. I reiterated to him how important it is they install the iron fence low enough to prevent my dog from digging a hole escaping. I reluctantly agreed to proceed with the installation based on his reassurances. The day of the installation, the workers showed up at my door and the first thing one of the workers did was hand me a cell ph and someone with Northwest told me, "Can you tell them where to install the fence" I told him I already went over all this with my rep and I do not feel confident communicating with workers who do not speak English. I ended the call and immediately called the rep and told him that someone needs to get down here and communicate everything we had already went over. The rep came down and told the workers where to install everything. I asked him who I should contact at the office if there is a problem and reminded him what he told me about the workers knowing exactly what they need to do. He responded by saying, "I thought it wasn't an issue to you that they don't speak English?" This was NOT what I stated and told him I only agreed to allow the installation to proceed because of his reassurance they would not need any additional guidance during the installation. Sure enough, after they got started prepping the ground and installing the fence, the gate was being installed too high, leaving a large gap at the bottom, and I tried to communicate this with the workers with no luck. I told the workers to stop completely and, at this point, I was really starting to lose my patience. I immediately called the Northwest office and told them the fence was being installed too high from the ground and how they needed to send someone over immediately or I would be sending the workers away for the day. They sent someone down about 30 minutes later and he communicated with the workers, the proper way to install the fence. I asked the supervisor to stick around to ensure there were no more issues. They 'completed' the installation and they had forgotten to attach adhesive to the caps on the fence posts as well as failing to install the latch on the side gate. They had to return two separate times, requiring me to take time out of my day to be here, to complete the gate lock installation and attach the caps properly. I also started finding pieces of sharp metal in my lawn they failed to clean up which posed a major safety hazard for our family and dog. All of this nonsense could have been avoided if the representative assigned to my project would have scheduled the installation at a time when he could have been present to supervise and inspect the work being done by the subcontractors they hired...

I asked for a change the day before installation which they were able to accommodate and responded much more quickly than expected. The guys that arrived to do the work were incredibly kind and asked my Mom over and over for her approval. She is thrilled. Now we have a functioning railing that looks like it was part of the original house. I am thrilled with the outcome, the pricing, and the process of working with Northwest. I would highly recommend. In fact, my neighbor has already called them to do their front steps.

Mr. Lopez and his crews have installed and maintained the cedar fences at our home, as well as many of the homes on our street and neighborhood, for years. His pricing is very reasonable and regular maintenance -- every few years or so -- is a great way to protect your investment and lower your longterm costs. I've included a few photos of the work his crew completed on the restoration of our fence last month. He also installed new fencing on the sections facing the street. His mixed approach saved us a significant amount of money with the 15-year old fence looking as new as the new fence. The photos do not fully capture the final color and the clarity of the grain. If you are considering a new fence, restoring your old fence -- or combination of the two -- it is worth your while to speak with Mr. Lopez.

Jose worked patiently with me to design and build a custom steel modern fence. I've struggled to find fencing contractors who had the knowledge, ability, and interest in taking on my job. He has a very good sense of modern design and also form vs. function. The fence included a 14' rolling custom gate and full automation. His pricing was excellent and he has worked well with my budget. In fact, we've gone over my budget because I've had him extra work beyond the original quote. The initial estimate was around 13k and we've gone much higher with additional work. We have done around a 30% deposit and then payments based on completion. I'm glad to support a local small business. His crew has been considerate of the work site and have done some extra things like moving plants, etc. Given the custom nature of the fence, it has taken some time to build as he has fit me in with other jobs in the area.
