Together with AI, I created the art in .JPG format and sent it to MetalWork Austin. It is quite big: 103" wide by 69" high and weighs about 200 pounds. They skillfully converted the .JPG into a routing file for their CNC plasma cutter. It was quite a fascinating experience going all the way from my image to a physical reality. They also welded 8 bolts onto the back and delivered the art piece to my house and mounted it -no small feat! Before mounting, I secured a strip of outdoor LEDs to the inside of the structure along the sides and top. It really looks fantastic at night (see pictures). I really recommend MetalWork Austin!

I've been working with MetalWork Austin for 4 years now for various custom metal pieces (small &…read morelarge) for my husband and I's business, and we would never go elsewhere! They take pride in what they do which shows in the quality of their craftsmanship, professionalism, personal care, and attention. When we needed a custom grill, they worked with us on exact needs from a functional and artistic stance with cost in mind, and kept us informed every step of the way on the progress of the work. The grill is not only beautiful but performs in every way we need! The owner Ryan even put some creative touches on it, and made great suggestions we hadn't thought about that really made it special. The largest piece we have from them is our own company sign. The design is unique, eye-catching, and definitely built to last! This was a big investment for us and an important one. The MetalWork Austin team was incredibly efficient, communicative, and effectively creative on this project in every aspect. They constantly moved us forward in getting our sign designed, and with the right material options picked, then built and installed how we wanted. There was even a delay in obtaining some of the materials we picked due to the last major hurricane, but they kept us informed and updated on changes and timelines. Hands down this is the most creative, efficient and friendly team of people I've worked with for custom build needs. My husband and I recommend them to everyone! If you appreciate working with a locally owned and family operated company that truly cares about the work they produce on a high quality level, absolutely check them out.

Kyle seemed to be knowledgeable during our initial meeting and articulated a plan which never materialized. What was accomplished was not to my engineer's specifications, it was sloppy, poor quality, and delivered in fits and starts as if the team got in over their heads and had no clue how to manipulate material, focus on the task at hand or follow through. The net result was the team walking off the job having received most of their payment but not having delivered on the job. I wound up hiring Woody's metal and they sorted the whole thing out without any drams and in a very efficient manner in less than 10 days. I would not recommend Manchaca metals. I am including some photos that compare the quality of work delivered by Manchaca compared to the quality of work delivered by the crew I hired to replace them. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this crew for anything that requires: working against plans, precision, focus, attention, or just generally giving a damn.

We bought a 3/4" stainless-steel rod from Westbrook Metals (see separate review for them), and had Eastside Fabrication tap the end of it (with a 10mm metric thread) and bend it. We were on a tight time schedule since my friend had to leave town in 5 days, but Eastside did the job the next day. It turned out the rod wasn't sturdy enough, so we got a second piece of 3/4" rod and had Eastside weld the two alongside each other; he did that the same day, and it works perfectly and looks good. It's not often one needs services such as this, but if you do, this is the place to go. Very friendly, very accommodating, and top-notch work.
