The Porter Service Co was the worst hire I have ever made. I will be using fake names. Hire Strand…read moreBrothers Service Experts instead. I own a bar in Austin and hired them to fix a leaking AC right when bars in Texas were allowed to reopen in the late May early June timeframe. It was a very urgent situation as my women's restroom was leaking, and we were going into our first weekend open since COVID shut us down in March. I hired them because one of their people, Larry, knew one of my bartenders. They put me in contact with Larry. I told him what was happening and specifically told him the last time this happened all that was needed was the pipes being blown out by a CO2 tank. Larry calls me no less than 4 times a day over the next few days. He just keeps calling me, and he wants to talk for like 30 minutes at a time. If I do not answer the call he calls me from a second phone! It was unreal, all I wanted was an AC repair guy to come to my store. Larry was calling me to go in depth about the company he worked for, the service they would need to do, the long term care packages they had. I told him repeatedly that I did not care and I just wanted a rep out there to fix the AC. FInally they send the first repairman Moe. Moe shows up, does nothing, says nothing and leaves. I freak out about the problem and how the weekend is coming so it needs to be fixed ASAP. So they send out Curly, but not just Curly as Larry insists on coming out himself with an intern to review the property with the end goal of getting me to sign a long term contract with their company. While Curly is in the ceiling for hours, Larry is talking to me and looking at my building. I tell Larry about five times I am not really interested in anything beyond my AC getting fixed and on top of that I am very busy that day getting the bar up and running for the weekend. At one point Larry is having me show him our grease trap so he can get me to sign a long term contract for my grease trap, all while my AC is still broken. After a few hours of three people from The Porter Service Co being at my company they tell me it is all fixed. Mind you my original suggestion the pipes be blown out with CO2 is completely ignored. They told me they fixed the issues but all my pipes were bad and needed replaced and that was the only real solution but they were happy to do it for thousands of dollars. So as they are leaving I ask to pay the invoice, and they tell me no it will take a few days for that. I tell them it is strange because no service person has ever left until the invoice was paid, but they wanted me to sign up for their long term service so they wouldn't send the invoice for me to pay until they also sent all the quotes for the long term service. So Friday night, I need good sales because we have been closed for COVID and I am looking at losing my business I put my heart and soul into. We are strictly enforcing COVID guidelines which means we had a small crowd because we could only have 25% capacity but I needed all 25% of those people. Women's restroom starts leaking and by about midnight it is a full on waterfall. We lost thousands of dollars in sales. I immediately call Porter and they don't send anyone claiming I should have just told them earlier it wasn't fixed, but how could I know until it started leaking. I call Strand Brothers Service Experts but they cannot send someone till Sunday. So my Saturday night was awful too. I lost thousands of dollars in sales, and no doubt I lost some customers for life. Sunday morning Strand Brothers show up, look at the AC, grab a CO2 tank, blow it out, and give me an invoice for about 40% of what Porter charged me for not fixing it. I wish I could say the nightmare stopped here, but it didn't. I have 4 AC units and only the one in the women's restroom was leaking. After Porter was done an AC unit only they had ever touched also started leaking, which caused damage to my roof and Strand Brothers also fixed quickly. After all this all bars in Texas were shut down by the Governor again. Like many bars and other businesses have spent everyday just trying to find a way to reopen and pay all our bills without any cash flow, especially when the small amount of cash flow I was allowed was hurt so much by Porter. Porter sends me this invoice with all these quotes for long term service. The invoice has not button to pay, and a few days later they finally send me a payable invoice for over $700. Mind you this whole time Larry is continuing to call me daily like over a two week period. It is the most annoying thing that has ever happened to me in the service industry. We are not friends, I just want to hire you, not talk to you all day. I want you to fix my problem and then give me an invoice to pay the same day.
