Together with AI, I created the art in .JPG format and sent it to MetalWork Austin. It is quite big: 103" wide by 69" high and weighs about 200 pounds. They skillfully converted the .JPG into a routing file for their CNC plasma cutter. It was quite a fascinating experience going all the way from my image to a physical reality. They also welded 8 bolts onto the back and delivered the art piece to my house and mounted it -no small feat! Before mounting, I secured a strip of outdoor LEDs to the inside of the structure along the sides and top. It really looks fantastic at night (see pictures). I really recommend MetalWork Austin!

The crew that showed up to perform the work, lead by Noe, was extremely professional and courteous. They were also highly skilled and did a great job of getting everything welded up cleanly and straight. Eastside Fabrication's team had no problems dealing with the minor fitment issues we encountered. They were able to fabricate a few missing parts and made adjustments to their installation methods to ensure a very nice visual fitment. The welds were clean and the finished product was exactly what we were looking for. The crew showed up on time each day and worked around our schedule. Last week a colleague from Hungary visited us. He's both a scientist and a sculptor. He brought…read moreus a sculpture he had made out of granite and we needed to build a support for it. We bought a 3/4" stainless-steel rod from Westbrook Metals (see separate review for them), and had Eastside Fabrication tap the end of it (with a 10mm metric thread) and bend it. We were on a tight time schedule since my friend had to leave town in 5 days, but Eastside did the job the next day. It turned out the rod wasn't sturdy enough, so we got a second piece of 3/4" rod and had Eastside weld the two alongside each other; he did that the same day, and it works perfectly and looks good. It's not often one needs services such as this, but if you do, this is the place to go. Very friendly, very accommodating, and top-notch work.
