I recently found a higher quality rebuilt alternator at A-Line for less money than the 3 big chains in town. They also loaned me tools to swap out the fan shroud that I forgot to remove at home. I almost turned it in and they made sure that I swapped it on the spot to make sure that it fit and aligned properly. One big differentiator for A-Line is that they can resurface heads (and I would assume rotors) with a full machining shop. I will always check with them first when searching for replacement parts.

Basically I called up looking for some information about rebuilding my engine. The guy that answered the phone sounded very disinterested in wanting my business. I told him that that I didn't expect an exact quote but that I was trying to get some range of prices outlined so I could help make a decision on what avenue I wanted to take with rebuild or replace. He first told me that he would need to pull the engine, get it apart and see what was wrong with it before he could quote me a price. I told him that the engine I have is not blown and actually runs really well, but just has a lot of miles on it and that I wanted to do something before it came to requiring a rebuild. The guy then said "So you want me to pull a number out of the air and then pull the engine out and go through it?.....$2000, but it may or may not be that". Since he never really asked any questions about what I wanted to accomplish, why I wanted to do it, if I wanted any upgrades, was it for street or track, etc. , I felt that I better not place a few thousand dollars on the line with this company. Had he simply said something like, "To do a standard rebuild assuming no major issues and with a standard rebuild kit, you are looking in the ballpark of $xxxx. If you want to upgrade anything or if we run into some major problems, those will be the biggest factor in the cost of your rebuild." He just seemed irritated that I called in the first place and all he wanted to do was anything but talk to a potential customer. The sad thing is that I got a couple referrals from some people stating that this place is really good at what they do. That may be true but because this individual did not seem like he cared about the customer, I cannot comfortably recommend them.

My compressor fan motor started screeching. A quick internet search indicated the fan motor should…read morebe replaced and doing so was fairly easy. I pulled the old motor off to get the amperage and RPMs, but then had trouble finding someone that would sell me a replacement. I finally found these guys and the price of the motor seemed very reasonable (1/4 HP, 1075 RPM, $65 + tax). They cautioned me to ensure power was off and to take pictures of the wiring, both of which I had already done, but I appreciated them giving the advice. Word of advice: I got the AC back up and working with only one hitch, the fan rotation was wrong. I noticed it felt hot while standing next to it and didn't think that was normal, a quick internet search confirmed it. The motor was turning the wrong way, blowing air down and into the compressor unit instead of up and out. A bad capacitor will apparently cause the motor to turn in the wrong direction, but in my case, the motor is reversible and I just had to swap the yellow and black wires.

I called all the machine shops in Austin…read moreand San Antonio as well as brought my cylinder head to two different machine shops to see if they could fix my 2012 L322 5.0 Supercharged Range Rover AJ133 engine valve seat that had come loose. Precision Engine Service was my last hope. Dennis reviewed the cylinder head in person and after looking at and pausing for what seemed like 5 minutes, he said he would do it. He was the only one that said he could fix it and he did it at a reasonable price. If it weren't for Dennis, I would have had to purchase a new cylinder head which is both costly and time consuming to make sure that it is machined to match the cylinder block mating surfaces. Even a used cylinder head would have been much more costly and time consuming. I'm a lifelong customer and have great respect for Dennis and his team who are true artisans of their craft.

My spouse took a car to this shop when it stopped running. After several months of the car sitting…read moreat the shop, the employees said they did not know what the problem was, but kept "wanting" to work on it, claiming they were very busy and would figure it out. When we finally decided it had been sitting there for too many months and should pick up the vehicle there was employee trash inside the car, water bottles, lunch garbage, and work rags from the shop left in the vehicle. We towed the car into the home garage and the car was leaking some new fluid that had not been there before. I get headaches now just from being in the garage because of the fluids the car is now leaking. Racked up a huge bill from the shop to get back possession of the car for the work they claimed they accomplished. No solutions, car cannot run. If we had left the car any longer we probably would not have been able to afford their bill to get it back. It looks to be in worse shape now than when we brought it to the shop. We kept waiting, giving them all the trust and time we could afford. I am worried about missing hardware and incorrect installation. The shop has many cars there sitting because the shop owner claims there is money owed on them. This is very suspicious. I understand that some problems are harder to fix than others but the amount of time they kept our car without a solution was above the top. I recommend people look elsewhere if they are looking to keep their car. I don't know much about mechanics but I do know that are a lot of different ways people get into bad situations and this has all the hallmarks of sending someone unknowingly into a bad situation. This is just a warning, I am not a mechanic.

Juan constructed one is such a way that I could put my round mosaic tile in a welded pan with 20" legs. He knew exactly what I needed to do and he did it in 48 hours. The workmanship is fantastic and the final job was better than I expected. See the picture! it was a very good form fitting tabletop which will be used to deflect heat over a firepit. Great work, 5 stars!!
