Detail: We reviewed four companies in the Austin area for a fence extension and automated gate for security purposes. Absolute Fence & Gate were outstanding to work with: they came in cheaper than all other alternatives, were the most responsive with clear communication, and were very knowledgable about the options within our space. Amanda was extremely responsive and helped us scope out our initial ask to coordinate an onsite bid walk quickly and helped sort out billing. Travis helped develop our initial concept for a gate into an efficient, turn-key solution that would abide by local codes and fit within our budget. After clarifying our scope, the project was completed at a lightning pace. They staggered the required demo of our old fence until the day they'd be able to erect the fencing to minimize the amount of time our house was exposed to the street. The work crews were very professional and Travis and his team clearly explained the scope each day and progress updates. In addition, Cade and the gate operator crew were outstanding. They set up the motor and made sure all items were functional tested. They did a terrific job commissioning the equipment and explaining how to use it. The commissioning team also noted that our gate operator had a minor issue and contacted the manufacturer for a same-day under warranty solution. The level of service was outstanding, and I was very pleased to have a total turnkey solution. During the construction, Travis would check in with the teams and ensure quality work which resulted in zero punch items at final walk. Travis even performed a final QA check on the operator to make sure operation was up to their quality standard. Every team member was very knowledgeable and professional. They provided excellent advice and suggestions and helped us craft our gate idea into a solution with a terrific product!

Craig Jolicoeur was so responsive, thoughtful and meticulous that you'd think it was his own fence that was going up. He didn't waste my time like others did with endless and irrelevant questions. He was straight to the point, efficient, and always friendly. The fence and gate look terrific and my friends are delighted. Good value, too. While Absolute Fence didn't submit the cheapest quote, I knew I was getting quality materials and finish for a great price.

They are stated to have an average 10 minute response time with a 65% response rate. Seven days later, I've heard nothing. So I'm either in the 35% of their non-responses or I'm an outlier in their turnaround timeframe. I wish I had better things to say since this is an unfortunate lone wolf one star rating in a sea of five stars for this company, but "real people, real reviews" is the rule.

The motor is fine but what happened was the internal springs that can't be seen snapped so with his coaching, he explained my options and he had the parts available. My issue was fixed same day and in my opinion a decent reasonable price. Great service, fast accurate, same day repair. I also appreciate gator garage door sending me emails and photos of the repairs being done so I was kept in real time updates. I really appreciate when a business takes the time to use technology because I know I could've paired myself with another garage door firm that would price quote me fix to repairs and not send me an itemized list of items that were repaired and that they would take the time so I do feel that Gator garage door is superior than most.

If I had a thousand years, I STILL wouldn't have time to express how much I love, appreciate, and admire Ron, Jake, Amanda and the rest of the team at Custom Sheet Metal, Inc.! I will sing their praises from the highest points in Texas - and here's why: My sweet cousin, Steven, has a home in Pflugerville with average-ish, contractor-grade, ugly, plain fixtures... including (and especially) his fireplace trim kit. Talk about yucky! *blech* It just so happens that Steven is not only an elementary school teacher, but a most talented graphic designer, too... and has a terrific, artistic eye for creating and designing. He came up with the cool idea to take off the drab fireplace trim and replace it with a new, custom-made stainless steel piece, instead. However, he first needed to find someone who could fabricate such a thing - hopefully by using his old trim as a template. After going to a couple of 'other' metal businesses and getting discouraged from either A) the price or, 2) the rejection, fortunately he came across Ron and his team at Custom Sheet Metal... and they not only said that yes - it's possible to make a new trim, but quoted him a price within his educator budget! Steven was THRILLED! We removed his old trim, took it to Ron, and only had to wait a couple of weeks for the finished product - and it was well worth the time spent! Talk about a PERFECT fit and, frankly, a piece of art! This new trim was GORGEOUS and did wonders for the appearance of Steven's fireplace... but he was far from being done! The next step in the fireplace makeover was to remove the 12"x12" pieces of green (?!) tile around the opening of the firebox. Steven decided he wanted to use 2" mesh-backed, checkerboard tiles from floor to ceiling around the fireplace... and that's where I come in. Amongst many skillsets that I possess, tilesetting is one of them. I drove in from Dallas with all my tiling tools loaded in the back - ready to tackle the project! I saw the boxes of tiles to be used, but I didn't LOOK at the tiles. Once I'd installed HardieBacker board from ceiling to floor, I was ready to begin the tilesetting. Everything was going smoothly... until I got down to the fireplace and needed to make my first cut around the beautiful new trim. It suddenly dawned on me (at 10 o'clock at night, mind you) that my 4" diamond blade, hand-held, circular, DRY tile saw would NOT be the proper cutting utensil to use on the 2", mesh-backed, checkerboard, alternating GLASS and METAL tiles!!! AAaaarrrrgggghhh!! Needless to say, I was frustrated and discouraged... and that's putting it mildly! Every other tile was a piece of aluminum with either a bronze or silver face, while the tiles in between were actual glass. Not ceramic, porcelain, travertine, natural stone, etc. GLASS. METAL. Grrrr.... Yes, I DID attempt to cut the metal with my saw, however... it heated the tiles up to un-touchable temperatures in about .2 seconds, not to mention the blade kept skipping and marring the tile surface. Had I brought my metal cutting tools, there would have not been a problem, but I didn't know that this job would involve 'other' materials, so I was unprepared. Talk about a show-stopper! I had to shut things down for the night and think about where I could take this handful of final tile pieces to be cut... and then it hit me: RON AND JAKE AT CUSTOM SHEET METAL!! Sure enough, I headed over bright and early the next morning with the metal tiles in hand and they were more than happy to rescue me - and that's EXACTLY what they did!! Afterwards, I raced back to my cousin's house, finished installing the remaining tile, began grouting the upper portion, and later in the evening was able to grout around the fireplace and hearth. Boy, was Steven pleased... and I was immensely relieved!! From the instant that Steven and I went in to ask about fabricating a new front-piece for his fireplace to the moment Ron completed the final cut in the metal tile squares, I could not have been more pleased with the warm welcome we/I received, the professionalism, the courtesy, outstanding customer service, their sincere desire to help, their FRIENDLINESS, the excellent craftsmanship, their high quality of work, their rapid turn-around time (which was instantaneous when I came in desperate for help!), and SO much more! I couldn't help but marvel at all the work going on around us as Ron was cutting for me. It was so interesting to observe all the different metal projects with their numerous, intricate and various shapes, sizes, materials, cuts, angles, bends and folds! Clearly, these folks know their business, and I was mesmerized with fascinated admiration! God bless Ron, Jake, Amanda, and ALL the good folks at Custom Sheet Metal, Inc. - they do Texas proud!! read more

There are not enough superlatives in the English language to accurately describe how great my experience has been with Custom Sheet Metal. I started working with Ron the owner probably in the late '90s, I would guess 1997 when he built me a custom battery box for my race car. Since then, he's built custom metal locking amp enclosures in 2 boats, ceiling mounts for the center and rear speakers in my loft, aluminum shrouds for my car stereo, countless custom brackets and modifications to existing metal parts I brought him. It's definitely made me realize I'm getting older as Jake, the owner's son was about 10 when I first started going there and now he's poised to take over the family business. On the rare occasions where I've put an unreasonable timeline on my work they have found a way to deliver. They tolerate my vague, non mechanically drawn instructions with patience and genuinely enjoy my projects. The most involved was a custom aluminum console in my Defender. I parked my truck in their bay for 3 days while they hand shaped it to fit the transmission tunnel. They also built a custom iPad mount that is simply one of a kind with a huge degree of difficulty. read more

I was in need of metal brackets to replace the plastic brackets that hold the mattress on a vintage crib I used for my daughter over 30 years ago. Though my daughter wanted to use her old crib for her new baby, the crib was no longer safe to use with those brackets. They were able to fabricate a few missing parts and made adjustments to their installation methods to ensure a very nice visual fitment. We bought a 3/4" stainless-steel rod from Westbrook Metals (see separate review for them), and had Eastside Fabrication tap the end of it (with a 10mm metric thread) and bend it. We were on a tight time schedule since my friend had to leave town in 5 days, but Eastside did the job the next day. It turned out the rod wasn't sturdy enough, so we got a second piece of 3/4" rod and had Eastside weld the two alongside each other; he did that the same day, and it works perfectly and looks good. It's not often one needs services such as this, but if you do, this is the place to go. Very friendly, very accommodating, and top-notch work.

My pet peeve with most tradespeople here in Austin is that almost everyone leaves the job site a mess for me the owner and customer to clean up! The job is not done until everything is cleaned up! Greg understands this and I appreciate it. His welding is excellent, that goes without saying. What makes him exceptional is the "extra" the clean up of welds and the worksite, everyone else is a hack. I don't know if Greg is the cheapest and honestly I don't care, what I care about is workmanship and not half assing it. Greg does the best work and I don't mind the price.

They take pride in what they do which shows in the quality of their craftsmanship, professionalism, personal care, and attention. When we needed a custom grill, they worked with us on exact needs from a functional and artistic stance with cost in mind, and kept us informed every step of the way on the progress of the work. The grill is not only beautiful but performs in every way we need! The owner Ryan even put some creative touches on it, and made great suggestions we hadn't thought about that really made it special. The largest piece we have from them is our own company sign. The design is unique, eye-catching, and definitely built to last! This was a big investment for us and an important one. The MetalWork Austin team was incredibly efficient, communicative, and effectively creative on this project in every aspect. They constantly moved us forward in getting our sign designed, and with the right material options picked, then built and installed how we wanted. There was even a delay in obtaining some of the materials we picked due to the last major hurricane, but they kept us informed and updated on changes and timelines. Hands down this is the most creative, efficient and friendly team of people I've worked with for custom build needs. My husband and I recommend them to everyone! If you appreciate working with a locally owned and family operated company that truly cares about the work they produce on a high quality level, absolutely check them out.

I had no choice but to accept the biggest error they made . But they still charged me more without any discussion with me. I paid for it but got a sob story from the owner when I asked him to please fix another important issue. Now I have to take my order to another fabricator to fix it. I've worked with fabricators all over the world and never been treated like this. Next !
