They were recommended to me by two different fencing companies. Our communications were efficient and friendly. Their estimate was fair. Once the new fence had been installed, I contacted Great Dane and it became a matter of waiting for it to stop raining. We needed at least two rain-free days. It is recommended that we restain the wood every 24 months and I suspect Great Dane will be doing that job. read more

Read good reviews, had them out to clean and stain my deck. It looked good, for less than a month. Rain washed most of the stain away, leaving dry ipe. Customer service at Armstrong, the stain we used, suggested reapplying and wiping off after 24 hours (Dane's wiped off the same day, hence the problem). The owner came out to evaluate, but seemed reluctant to do the other coat because at the time, we'd both thought it looked good with just one (but I'm no expert and didn't know it needed to sit so long). Said he'd call Armstrong himself. That was in July. Never heard back. It's now October. Wasted $1,000. read more

Larry and his crew did an outstanding job in staining our fence. They were very thorough and helpful throughout the process. Larry's team created the perfect color for our stain, and replaced boards that needed replacing. We couldn't be any happier with the final result! I used Great Dane Again for the larger side of my fence (corner lot)!! They are amazing!! Communication is on point. Consistency & Quality. As normal, the attention to detail is like they are staining their own fence. What I mean is that they use different techniques based on the wind, the wood, the landscape, and I am sure there are more variables. They are experts at what they do and they take pride in not only the final product they leave you with but also the process you went through with them to get to that final product. They are trustworthy. Their prices are unmatched. You could not get diff quotes and know you will get the best price & the best quality in staining that is out there. They walk you through the process (even if you used them before) and they keep to that process, and deliver beautiful results. Larry and Derek are good solid honest guys who love what they do and I love them for it! Yelpers...You need not look anymore. read more

Above and Beyond!!!! Replaced boards that needed replacing. Beautiful staining. Couldn't be happier with the results. I'm going to get an estimate for my parents' fence, so I'd definitely recommend. read more

This is my second review of Great Dane and its services. I used them last year and they did a great job in staining my fence. I had the occasion to use them again recently to stain my deck. As always, they were prompt, responsive, professional and reasonable. Larry is a pleasure to work with. He is patient, has an eye for detail and was able to undo the damage a previous contractor did. When there was an aspect of the work that was just outside his lane, he put me in touch with a handyman that was able to see to the additional work. I would highly recommend them to anyone who has a need for wood staining. read more

Great dane showed up when they said they would, talked to us about what kind and color stain we wanted, told us when they would show up to paint, arrived on time, did the fence, which had black iron posts, cleaned up after themselves, and left us with a beautifully stained fence and not one speck of stain on the iron posts. And they charged us exactly what they quoted. I don't think you can do better than that. We highly recommend Great Dane Staining. read more

We requested an estimate for our fence (corner lot) and small deck. Dennis was extremely responsive and helpful. Requested the estimate on a Friday, came Monday to evaluate, started the job Tuesday and finished by Wednesday. The prices were very reasonable. They were great! Even the power-wash showed an amazing transformation. Highly recommend! read more

Great Dane Fence Staining - Fences & Gates Near Me - Austin, Texas

After paying $1384.00, we have been scammed and ghosted by Great Dane Staining. The long and the short of it? After SIX WEEKS, my brand new fence has one and a half coats of the WRONG STAIN and Great Dane won't return to fix or finish the job. Read on for details... Our entire interaction with Great Dane Staining was a disaster. When Larry Jeffrey, Salesman and "Project Manager" arrived to provide a quote on 7/15/20, he wan't wearing a mask even as he explained "and I only have one lung!" when I asked him to keep to a social distance. He provided a quote in writing ("$1384 Out The Door") for Cabot semi-solid stain (also in writing) and explained they were scheduling a week or so out. He dropped off a sample board the next morning, as promised, with the Cabot semi-solid colors we chose out of the catalog he provided. We heard nothing back for weeks so reached out on Monday 8/3/20 and were promised they would come later that week. We told Larry final our color selection - "Dark Gray." They finally arrived on Friday 8/7, very early in the morning. My husband greeted them and went to work. By the time my daughter and I awoke, the entire fence was covered in a transparent shade of light gray. I called Larry, alarmed. He asked if it was too light, and I told him "yes." He said he would come by. I waited. After a little while, I looked in the backyard and the color had changed slightly, but was still see-through. When Larry arrived, he told me he had instructed his workers to apply another coat of the (wrong) stain WITHOUT ASKING ME and that I owed them $200 more for the second coat of a Cabot SEMI-TRANSPARENT stain, which they ran out of about halfway into the second coat! He left and I called Derek, the owner, whose voicemail was full. I texted him and he called back right away. He told me to go online and pay the original price and they would come finish when they stained our neighbor's side of the same new fence on 8/10/20. That day, I went out to make sure the workers would finish the second coat. I went back to work and by the time I looked again, they left AGAIN without finishing the job. I called Derek. Voice mail still full. I texted Derek. No answer. I called and texted Derek two days later. No answer. I emailed their general address. No answer. After SIX WEEKS, I have a brand new fence with one and a half coats of THE WRONG STAIN, we are out $1,384 and have been ghosted by Great Dane. Do yourself a big favor and find another company for your staining needs. read more

Every step of the way was customer focused! I dealt exclusively with Larry. My initial call was returned within the hour. An on-site estimate was scheduled for the same week. Larry was on time & thoroughly explained the process/various types of stains. He provided me an estimate prior to leaving my home. I obtained 2 other estimates which were both almost twice the price of the Great Dane Fence Staining estimate. I contacted Larry to move forward & provided him the stain colors I was considering. He dropped by a sample stained board with my selections - I made my final decision based on the sample board. We agreed on a start date which was missed only due to the weather. Larry communicated with me daily that week and by the end of the week, my patio, stairs & stair enclosure were stained - beautiful job! His crew was considerate of the exterior of our home (thorough/precise prepping) and cleaned up the work site upon completion. I highly recommend Great Dane Fence Staining and would not hesitate to use Larry & his team again! read more

Highly recommend Great Dane Fence Staining. The project manager, Larry, was very helpful and informative from start to finish. The team that came out to stain the fence was careful and methodical and didn't get any stain anywhere other than on the fence. It looks great! read more

We own Ram Fencing and we refer our customers to Great Dane because they specialize in just staining and it shows in the quality of their work! Thank you!!!!! read more

Great Dane did a lovely job staining our fence. His price was a little bit higher than the other quote I got, but his quote was based upon coming out and actually looking at the fence and seeing some of the tricky areas (retaining wall, plants). He even offered to get us a good deal on the stain he uses if we decided to do the work ourselves. That's some honesty for you. I was out of town on business for two weeks right after his quote, so I didn't hire him right away - I was impressed that he didn't bug me with follow-ups or high-pressure sales tactics like some home contractors do. Anyways, he was able to come out two days after I emailed to hire him. We'd just had heavy rain and the fence was pretty mud-splattered, but he and his assistant did a great job brushing the mud and dirt off the planks before staining. The only reason this is 4 stars instead of 5 is that he put up a sign on the fence without asking. I promptly took it down. (And T15 anti-tamper screws? C'mon, you can't out-engineer an engineer.) In the future, please ask. I would have agreed to a temporary (week or two) yard sign, but not a permanent sign on the fence itself. read more

Great Dane is the best fence staining company in Austin! We received multiple bids, but we decided to go with them because of recommendations from multiple neighbors who had used them. They did a superb job staining our fence. Derek very carefully explained the process and even gave us tips, in case we chose to do it ourselves! He also did his homework before meeting with us (he already knew which stain was approved by our HOA). Their price is very reasonable, so we decided to go for it. We are so glad we did! Not only did they do an impressive job, but the customer service was outstanding. Derek is friendly, straightforward, honest and professional. I highly recommend their services! read more

Great Dane Fence Staining - Awesome fence staining by Great Dane! - Fences & Gates Near Me - Austin, Texas

I had my fence stained this year in the early spring. I called to request a free quote and Larry contacted me immediately to set up the free consult. He arrived early and was very professional and yet extremely easy to talk to. He educated me on my choices and stain options and was very clear about what to expect. We had a specific type of stain and color that had already been HOA approved and used on the old fence. Larry worked with us to get what we needed. He was able to schedule a crew while giving us honest and reasonable expectations about our appointment and the consideration of the project start time. He mentioned the possibility of schedule adjustments that may be needed as they work around the weather to schedule the best days to apply stain. We had just installed a new fence so it was stain only. I had interviewed several vendors , 6 plus. This was not the "cheapest" option but definitely the BEST VALUE, it is so nice to get what you pay for. The price was reasonable, competitive and fair. The customer service, quality of work and Larry's attention to detail OUTSTANDING! This company has provided the best all around service I have had on my home so far. read more

The guys from Great Dane did an excellent job staining my deck, fence, and pergola out here in Westalke. Derek (the owner) is very personable and was really easy to work with. The project lasted a handful of days as I had them apply multiple coats and the stain (Readyseal) took some time to dry completely. Derek and his crew were on time (every time) and the communication was always good. I wasn't expecting to find a stainer that I would be this pleased with. Very satisfied! read more

We are very pleased with the job that Derek Zimmerman with Great Dane Fence Staining did on re-staining the wood on our house despite adverse weather conditions that meant a delay between the power washing and the sanding and staining. During this time Derek kept in touch while we waited for the weather to cooperate and was back with his crew at the earliest opportunity to complete the job. They used the utmost care to ensure complete coverage with no drips etc. Derek takes pride in his company and the work they do and we plan to have him do all our staining from now on. I have posted a picture of the finished job which can be seen in the photo section. read more

Chose Thomas with Great Dane due to the great work we saw in our new neighborhood. He dropped off a sample (piece of wood) with stains for us to review and choose from. I rarely write yelp reviews but Great Dane deserves praise; to summarize: honest, reliable, beautiful results. I had a 2-year old fence power washed, repaired in spots, stained, and a dog window installed. As other reviewers have noted, they use good products, protect plants, clean up, and do quality work. There were a few communication issues and things that did not get done quite as I expected. What is MOST impressive is that Derek came out, took a look, and everything was remedied ASAP. I will definitely use them again if I have any future projects. read more

Highly recommend Derek and Great Dane Fence Staining! Right after the consultation, Derek dropped off a sample board of stains and we were able to immediately move forward with a custom color selection. Derek worked with us patiently regarding a the staining project where multiple neighbors were involved. He easily provided estimates that included multiple breakdowns that were very helpful. Derek and his crew were fantastic in all ways. They stained three garage doors, five columns, a small step, and a long privacy fence. Derek was extremely personable and I could tell he prides himself on quality work and trusted relationships with his customers. He worked with me to find just the right stain colors (two different stain brands and colors) and even brought over multiple sample boards and buckets of stain for me to test out. He and his crews always showed up when they said they would and did an incredible job! Ready Seal Dark Walnut on the garages and pillars and Cabot's Semi Solid Sequoia on the privacy fence. I am very happy that I chose Derek/Great Dane and highly recommend using them if you need wood staining. read more

Great Dane Fence Staining did a great job on my fence. Derek, the owner, was very careful to cover my shrubs along the back of the fence so they didn't get stain on them. The fence was grayed by 2 years of weather, but he bleached the fence first to bring back the original wood color before applying the stain. The color is beautiful and the backyard glows golden from the color of the fence. A great job! read more

Derek showed up right on time to give me a quote. He stripped my deck and hot tub then re stained all of it. He left me with numerous color samples and explained the pros and cons of each one. I picked a color and they were at work the next day. I got home and the color was incredible! Derek stopped by and noted that it could use another coat for durability. So they put another coat on and didn't charge me a thing! Its rare to find someone in this market with such passion for their job. Will recommend Derek to everyone I know! A + work in every aspect. read more
