There's nothing wrong with a standard buffet when the food in that buffet is pretty good! A coworker of mine and I came here to dinner on a random week night, and were seated immediately. Standards of any asian buffet include fried sweet things, like sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken, orange chicken, (insert different style) chicken. There are other meats, fried rice, noodle dishes, and "american" section, that includes fried chicken wings, pizza, etc. I like their hibachi area the best, which gives you plenty of selection to make your own fried rice or fried noodle dish. You do have to worry sometimes about cross contamination if you're allergic to something (seafood in my case), because they'll use the same utensils with shrim dishes if you don't say anything. Fortunately I was the only one using the hibachi grill at the time so this wasn't a concern. The buffet costs about $11, give or take, which is pretty good for the amount of food you get access to. If you don't have time to dine in, they will allow for to go plates, but they charge by the pound. Sadly I didn't get the price for their by the pound prices. Located in a strip anchored by kroger, parking here is pretty easy considering it's shared between multiple stores. Customer service pretty much leaves you alone. They will fill your water, and dirty plates magically disappear as you get up and peruse the buffet again. You can and will get full here. I mean, it's a buffet, and for the price and flavors, it's not bad. Go to dinner spot? Probably not. But it's not bad to swing by every now and again. read more

Lets start off by saying the $5.00 lunch price is great to have because it increases sales plus they will make it up in customer count and soda and tea. The items on the buffet range from Asian to american with the grill cranking out the made to order dish put together by the customers. Most of all the dishes are fresh and constantly being switched out for fresh food(the fried shrimp and crab legs always go fast). even when I have come here with a crowd we get seated fast because of the space this used to be a Old Country Buffet at one time so it is huge. Come by for some really great food. read more

This place doesn't need to be rated because it one of the worse places I ever ate, if the food wasn't greasy it was hard as a rock, very over cooked, sure want be going back read more

15.99 no senior discount....no child discount and THEY CHARGE FOR DRINKS. They have downsized their selections and food looks old. Walked in and walked right out. Overpriced and rude rude staff. They have priced themselves out of the senior market. The buffet in N Augusta is so much better...reasonably priced and hot and delicious food. Go to New China Buffet for great hot food..and drinks included. GREAT CHOW IS A RIP OFF...STAY AWAY read more

Not bad. The variety of food reminds me of New China Buffet and Hibachi Grill. The food was hot and great and the service was good too. The price for dinner is $11.23 and that's not a bad price. Will definitely recommend this place. read more

This is a buffet style Chinese restaurant. Our first time trying this place and it was great. Prices are better than other similar places and the selection of foods was outstanding. Great flavors in everything my wife and I tried. It is a very very busy place and we now understand why. It is also very large and can seat lots of customers. The staff were very attentive as well. read more

This is by far THE WORST buffet I have ever been too, very unsanitary food tastes bad it's either overcooked or has no flavor. Only thing that is good is the customer service. read more

Absolutely the worst place I had ever eaten. I would not waste my time or effort to ever eat here again. Food was bland and the manager was absolutely rude as can be. Not anything had any flavor whatsoever and no seasonings, the hibachi tasted like the oil it was cooked in. I spent 59.00 for food for 3 that not one of us finished eating. I would rate -3 if possible. I will never come back. The only good thing that came out of it was the packaged ice cream. read more

Venue: For a Chinese buffet, it's your pretty standard operating procedure, from the strip mall location to the massive spread of different Chinese and American dishes and the cruise by wait staff that keeps removing plates and refining drinks. What I think sets this one apart, however, is the variety of food. They have everything from the usual suspects, like General Tsao and sweet sour chicken, to roast beef, mashed potatoes, and fried blue crab. They also have two side areas where they prepare noodle and Mongolian dishes. Vittles: As far as I'm concerned, the food is good and the price is reasonable. They do keep the hot dishes coming on the buffet. The only thing I don't care for is that their rice is on the buffet, but not in a rice cooker, so it gets a little dry. Verdict: This was my second time coming here and I would return whenever I'm in the area. read more

Buh bye Hibachi Grill...like"move over bacon, now there's something meatier!" This place has upped their game. $4.99 lunch (during the week) with a HUGE variety to choose from. This is one place you can go to when trying to maintain a Keto diet. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. They consistently have my faves so no going and being disappointed that something you thought would be out on the buffet isn't. Forget the mall food court...cross Wrightsboro Road and try this place out! read more

Great Chow - Wow, this looks much better than the last time I came here. - Sushi Bars Near Me - Augusta, Georgia

Food was cold. Prices did not match what is online. It shows $10.99 and at the restaurant it was almost $17 a person and drinks are not included. Also gratuity is only suppose to be added to parties of 7 or more we had 6. read more

During COVID the full buffet was not available. But it is up are running full steam again. Lots of great fresh vegetables and fruit chooses. Meat dishes are tasty and range from various chooses of sea food, pork, beef and chicken. Several Chinese -American dishes like fried chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, salted shrimp, crab meat bake and wantons are plentiful. Dessert choices are well placed by the fruit bar. Ice cream is available. Service is prompt. Dining room kept clean and tables are sanitized between seating. Bathrooms were clean and ample space for the disabled. Parking and outside lighting is ample. Price though has shot up to match inflation. Lunch is 12.00. But still a fair price. read more

I have eaten at Great Chow on several occasions, but it has decreased in quality the last two visits. The Hibachi was good and that is primarily why I am giving it two stars. Beyond the Hibachi, the chicken wings were the only edible and good item that I got from the buffet. I have never had an Asian/Chinese restaurant ruin Sesame chicken, but it was the worst I've ever had. Most items were either over cooked or they didn't taste good. After I set my plate of uneaten Sesame Chicken and General Tso Chicken aside, my wife cut one piece open and it was nothing but breading. Great Chow has not always been this bad and it has great potential to be good again. That's why I write this review, even at the reduced $8.99 price (which is welcomed by a family of 5), the food quality we experienced tonight was not worth it. The service was good and the staff was helpful, just as I hope this review will be helpful in helping the establishment improve the quality of their food. read more

This used to be my favorite Chinese buffet around. After tonight, I won't be going back. The best I can say is that they do keep it clean and there are a lot of options. The quality of the food has gone down significantly. I'm so disappointed. I don't know what has changed but nothing tastes like it used to. The wings used to be fantastic. Now they're extremely small without flavor. The crab and cheese bake was my main reason for coming and it was absolutely awful today. Maybe they just had a bad day in the kitchen but I really can't think of another reason to go back here. read more

Let me start this review by stating that I am not a buffet person. I usually eat 1.5 plates and leave angry for spending x amount of dollars on lackluster food. Okay, now that that's out of the way, we can begin. :) The Great Chow is like Hibachi Grill on crack. They have everything under the sun. EVERYTHING! A hibachi station, sushi station, soup station, ice cream bins. Crab legs on the buffet for no extra charge. I was overwhelmed by all of the options. The food is you'd expect at a buffet. I didn't leave angry since the price was so cheap! If I had to choose a buffet, I'd choose this one... after Izumi. read more

This place just opened so I decided to check it out for lunch today. I remember this same location being another Chinese buffet a few years back so I was a bit skeptical at first but upon entering I was pleasantly surprised. Upon entering you're greeted and you go ahead and pay at the hostess stand prior to eating. This place has quite a few different options for food and desserts. It's actually very similar to the hibachi grill down the street, except Great Chow has more options. They have a section for hibachi grilling and a sushi bar, along with the Chinese, American, Seafood, and dessert buffet options. They also have some not so common buffet options such as fried oysters and crab legs. Everything I had was tasty and about what I expect from a buffet. They also had quite a few ice cream/Popsicle options to get your fill on. The restaurant is very spacious and our waitress was very attentive and kept drinks refilled and excess plates removed. The restaurant was about half full when we went so we were seated immediately. Decor was very nice and clean. The brightly colored lights in the ceiling added a nice effect as well. This place is new so these things are expected, but it's good they didn't disappoint. The price is 10.99 before drink and tax, so it may be a little steep for some but they do have quite a few options. They offer a cheaper lunch special on Mon - Fri. Augusta has a few different Chinese buffet options, and so far this appears to be one of the better ones. read more

Anybody that gave this place one star doesn't have much experience with chinese buffets. One guy said something about the tea being bad... Maybe it is, I dunno, I don't go to buffet places for the tea. The Coke was sufficiently Coke-y so that's fine by me. They have a really good buffet selection, of my four plates I never repeated anything and almost all of it was good. The mongolian beef was especially tender and tasty, and the chicken with brocolli (I stole some of my daughter's) was more flavorful than I'm used to. They also have maybe one of the best seafood selections I've seen at a Chinese Buffet, not really my thing, but if it's yours it's worth a look. The sushi/sashimi bar was kept well stocked. Dessert selection was also really good, all the normal fruits and jello and yogurt but also a whole bunch of different bakery items. We didn't try the mongolian grill this trip but what was being prepared smelled delicious so maybe next time. The waitress we had was quick and attentive, no complaints there at all. The pricing is really good too, less than $50 for our family of five. read more

This has got to be the worst Thanksgiving buffet I have ever been to!! Food was awful, not just one or two items, everything was horrible. Overcooked, or just plain tasteless, even the fresh sliced oranges were no taste, how does someone screw up fresh fruit?? It was well below their everyday buffet, and was $28 bucks for two!! We should have realized when Golden Corral parking lot was overflowing when we drove by there, and when we got to Great Chow, parking lot was almost empty!! I really feel bad for the wait staff, I know they weren't making good tips today!! read more

I had an eye exam nearby so I figured i'd try this spot out. It was my first time here in years! I had my two boys with me, so I figured I'd brave the buffet with them. The selection was great. My boys loved the doughnuts, jello, crab claws and pizza. I enjoyed the hibachi rice (I passed on the grill), chicken wings and spring rolls. We topped it off with ice cream: strawberry crunch, vanilla ice cream and a watermelon popsicle. For a $4.99 lunch, you really can't beat it! read more

We went here as a last min decision. We were hungry and it was getting late. We arrived here about 9:25, they close at 10. I figured most of the food left would be what had been there all day, so decided I can get the Hibachi. so that way I can have something hot and fresh with a salad. We paid for our food first, it was $38 and some change. To me that was a little high for a buffet. I went straight to the Hibachi Station, there was nothing there. They had already cleaned it up. Food was gone and the grill was cleaned. I was upset by this. So I just went with what was on the bar. The fried rice was the only thing I could eat. Everything else was totally disgusting. So I decided to just eat a salad to get my monies worth. I walk to the bar and the lettuce slots were empty, I asked the server could I get some lettuce and she told me they ran out. What????? I will never come back to this place again. I don't recommend it. read more

Good food and great price..but also degrades the quality of food.the food is not fresh it's more of canned and frozen. The cheese cake was iced frozen .some chicken was overcooked . Some pastries n breaded items were undercooked.the jello had way too much sugar in every nibble..not just a big bite..but a nibble already too much sugar..easy to nice is see that when u poke the jello it does not feel watery but thick. Basically on the high variety of food that there is you have to pick out good food...is not really worth it. The cooks don't seem care the food is just served out with no standards just placed out and whatever customers can like it or not . A choice to make when on a budget but not for the quality. The owners need pay more attention to how the cooks are making the food and serving it out read more

I am supposed to give this Chinese buffet Five stars because of the best food and service ! However I have very bad one time experience last week! The restaurant wrongly charged me a few thousand dollars for my one visit! This is an unacceptable mistake! They did make apologies to me, however I am very angry! I have to spend time to call my credit card company to cancel the payment! Just reminder: Double check your credit card transactions every time you eat at this Chines restaurant! read more

Overpriced and average food. Charged us gratuity even though we sat at three separate tables and paid three separate bills. Management insisted that we pay ahead, and we tipped before they revealed the gratuity charge. Some of the food was very good, some horrible, most was just okay. I don't want to post this, because the staff were pleasant and I don't want to threaten their livelihood. But management doesn't have a clue, and we will not be coming back. read more

Why does my family choose this place over and over??? I keep getting out voted, the food is bland. the tea tastes like someone washed a shoe in it, so I switched to diet coke and more poo. the food is bland. Even the kielbasa is bland, how do screw up kielbasa? the grilled food is ok enough, it's still mildly tasty. maybe they have some rule about seasoning. This spot was awesome crawfish, fresh blue crab , and the variety of cultured foods! Great job with Covid-19 procedures and sanitation.

Great food, kept hot and replenished frequently. Staff is welcoming and attentive. Best we've found in Augusta so far.

Showed up for a farewell with 12 people, 3 families... we expected crazy! they made us feel like we were gonna up and leave so we had to pay before sitting. I was first. I have an $8 tip and was charged a $7.15 tip by them for a large party. That's fine... I've been a server. after all guests payed, we We're seated in 3 separate tables. Thank you for being one of a few buffets left in Augusta. Overall good variety, but the food quality and service as depreciated since opening. This place use to be great within the first few months they were open. Today we decided to come by, though it's Sunday and we knew it would be busy. Overall the food quality has depreciated. The wings tasted like cleaner, which I guess is a good thing because that probably means they use cleaner on the surfaces that the food touches. The crab legs are sad, scrawny like they crawled out of the ocean and laid on the beach for a month before dying. The desserts were great, even had great cheese cake and ice cream bars. The variety of chicken was plentiful and it was about on par with most buffet places. My biggest complaint was the overworked server who stopped by our table once within our first 30 minutes...After we stated at her with empty cups and a pile of dirty plates. Lastly I want to comment on the nasty caked dusty that was on the ledge above our table. read more

DO NOT EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!!! I can not stand horrible customer service. First of all, they made us pre-pay because they said we had a "large group" with too many separate checks. We did not get any refills and our dirty plates were not taken. We then had 3 servers watching our table with receipts. They tried to accuse us of stealing drinks because my son had a fruit punch that I pre-paid for but was sitting at my aunts table and they had waters. The manager named Andy came out and offered us 10% back after I had to demand some sort of compensation. Another staff named Ming laughed at us as we stood up and walked out without even finishing our food. Oh, they also called the police on us. DO NOT EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Have ate here a few dozen times... It is average for a Chinese Buffet. However the location in Stockbridge Ga. off I-75 is much better. Waitstaff here runs from 3.5 to 5. Their Covid-19 Customer gloves are a total JOKE ... people putting their hands all over the gloves trying to get a glove to open and be put on. Giving up and trying cheap-cheap pair after pair dropping them in a pile on the other gloves. ... OH!!!! Don't get caught with only 1 glove in the buffet line... Because there is a Asian Hostess/monitor that tends to be over aggressive about having 1 for the plate holding also??????? read more

Usually decent food. Some of it really good, some not so much. However, my most recent visit was Friday afternoon just about 5 pm. There were surprisingly few customers here for this time on a Friday. Probably the reason is that it is now $13.99 apiece. However, since there were so few people, a lot of the food had been on the bar or in the pot a very long time. Some things were really dark as they had been cooking too long. There were loads of shrimp out, but they had been overcooked so bad they turned to mush when you tried to stick a fork in them. My friend said the fried fish was good, and the best thing I had were the tiny drumsticks in the sweet sauce. At this price, this food should be better. If I can't get there during lunch pricing, I probably won't go again. Maybe that's why there were so few customers...they had experienced the same issues. read more

Always keep in mind, you can't expect too much in terms of quality and selection when it comes to Asian buffets. They're standard for the most part and the Great Chow is no different. Some food items to note: - Chow Mein: plain and bland. Honestly taste like butter spaghetti. - Gyoza: decent. Average, nothing special but I love Gyoza. - Seafood combo: don't even. Way too much onions and mayo. - grilled salmon: dry They do have a noodle bar that I took advantage of since I love soup. The worker obviously doesn't know anything about what he's serving. The system could use more organization to help with the communication of orders. I somehow ended up with a mix of pho noodles and udon noodles. I got a regular and added kimchi from the salad bar. I think the soup would've been bland if I didn't add the kimchi, which added a lot of flavor. The location is clean and well kept. Service is good. But again, don't expect too much out of Asian buffets such as this place. I've been to many in my time and this place still falls within average. read more

I've eaten at many Chinese places all around America but this place is by far the worst I've ever been to. I went here for lunch bc it said it had sushi n I was craving sushi. Long story short, I was overwhelmed by how yummy everything was. I wasn't really expecting much bc it's a buffet, but it really exceeded my standards by a good lil bit. I had salad, sushi, fruit, more sushi, and dessert. Everything I ate I just wanted to keep eating. I'm definitely making this a regular place for when I want to treat my stomach and taste buds. And there's a military discount, which is always lovely. Lunch is like $8 and with the discount it's like $6 and change. Not a super big difference, but I'm not about to complain about either of those prices. read more
