The items on the buffet range from Asian to american with the grill cranking out the made to order dish put together by the customers. Most of all the dishes are fresh and constantly being switched out for fresh food(the fried shrimp and crab legs always go fast). even when I have come here with a crowd we get seated fast because of the space this used to be a Old Country Buffet at one time so it is huge. This is a buffet style Chinese restaurant. Our first time trying this place and it was great. Prices are better than other similar places and the selection of foods was outstanding. Absolutely the worst place I had ever eaten. I would not waste my time or effort to ever eat here again. Food was bland and the manager was absolutely rude as can be. What I think sets this one apart, however, is the variety of food. They have everything from the usual suspects, like General Tsao and sweet sour chicken, to roast beef, mashed potatoes, and fried blue crab. During COVID the full buffet was not available. But it is up are running full steam again. Lots of great fresh vegetables and fruit chooses. Meat dishes are tasty and range from various chooses of sea food, pork, beef and chicken. Several Chinese -American dishes like fried chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, salted shrimp, crab meat bake and wantons are plentiful. Dessert choices are well placed by the fruit bar. Ice cream is available. Service is prompt. Dining room kept clean and tables are sanitized between seating. Bathrooms were clean and ample space for the disabled. Beyond the Hibachi, the chicken wings were the only edible and good item that I got from the buffet. I have never had an Asian/Chinese restaurant ruin Sesame chicken, but it was the worst I've ever had. Most items were either over cooked or they didn't taste good. After I set my plate of uneaten Sesame Chicken and General Tso Chicken aside, my wife cut one piece open and it was nothing but breading. Great Chow has not always been this bad and it has great potential to be good again. This used to be my favorite Chinese buffet around. After tonight, I won't be going back. The best I can say is that they do keep it clean and there are a lot of options. The quality of the food has gone down significantly. I'm so disappointed. I don't know what has changed but nothing tastes like it used to. The wings used to be fantastic. This place just opened so I decided to check it out for lunch today. I remember this same location being another Chinese buffet a few years back so I was a bit skeptical at first but upon entering I was pleasantly surprised. Upon entering you're greeted and you go ahead and pay at the hostess stand prior to eating. This place has quite a few different options for food and desserts. It's actually very similar to the hibachi grill down the street, except Great Chow has more options. They have a section for hibachi grilling and a sushi bar, along with the Chinese, American, Seafood, and dessert buffet options. They also have some not so common buffet options such as fried oysters and crab legs. Everything I had was tasty and about what I expect from a buffet. They also had quite a few ice cream/Popsicle options to get your fill on. The restaurant is very spacious and our waitress was very attentive and kept drinks refilled and excess plates removed. The restaurant was about half full when we went so we were seated immediately. Decor was very nice and clean. The brightly colored lights in the ceiling added a nice effect as well. This place is new so these things are expected, but it's good they didn't disappoint. The price is 10.99 before drink and tax, so it may be a little steep for some but they do have quite a few options. They offer a cheaper lunch special on Mon - Fri. Anybody that gave this place one star doesn't have much experience with chinese buffets. One guy said something about the tea being bad... Maybe it is, I dunno, I don't go to buffet places for the tea. The Coke was sufficiently Coke-y so that's fine by me. They have a really good buffet selection, of my four plates I never repeated anything and almost all of it was good. The mongolian beef was especially tender and tasty, and the chicken with brocolli (I stole some of my daughter's) was more flavorful than I'm used to. They also have maybe one of the best seafood selections I've seen at a Chinese Buffet, not really my thing, but if it's yours it's worth a look. The sushi/sashimi bar was kept well stocked. Dessert selection was also really good, all the normal fruits and jello and yogurt but also a whole bunch of different bakery items. We didn't try the mongolian grill this trip but what was being prepared smelled delicious so maybe next time. The waitress we had was quick and attentive, no complaints there at all. Usually decent food. Some of it really good, some not so much. However, my most recent visit was Friday afternoon just about 5 pm. There were surprisingly few customers here for this time on a Friday. Probably the reason is that it is now $13.99 apiece. However, since there were so few people, a lot of the food had been on the bar or in the pot a very long time. Some things were really dark as they had been cooking too long. There were loads of shrimp out, but they had been overcooked so bad they turned to mush when you tried to stick a fork in them. My friend said the fried fish was good, and the best thing I had were the tiny drumsticks in the sweet sauce. At this price, this food should be better. Always keep in mind, you can't expect too much in terms of quality and selection when it comes to Asian buffets. They're standard for the most part and the Great Chow is no different. Some food items to note: - Chow Mein: plain and bland. Honestly taste like butter spaghetti. - Gyoza: decent. Average, nothing special but I love Gyoza. - Seafood combo: don't even. Way too much onions and mayo. - grilled salmon: dry They do have a noodle bar that I took advantage of since I love soup. The worker obviously doesn't know anything about what he's serving. The system could use more organization to help with the communication of orders. I somehow ended up with a mix of pho noodles and udon noodles. I got a regular and added kimchi from the salad bar. I think the soup would've been bland if I didn't add the kimchi, which added a lot of flavor. The location is clean and well kept. Service is good. I went here for lunch bc it said it had sushi n I was craving sushi. Long story short, I was overwhelmed by how yummy everything was. I wasn't really expecting much bc it's a buffet, but it really exceeded my standards by a good lil bit. I had salad, sushi, fruit, more sushi, and dessert. Everything I ate I just wanted to keep eating. I'm definitely making this a regular place for when I want to treat my stomach and taste buds. And there's a military discount, which is always lovely.
