So much to choose from hibabchi create your own dish/ sushi/ meats / fish/ veggies / salads. / desserts. Something for everyone. Good to see that the foods get turned over frequently keeping most items fresh cooked looking. I go here for the AYCE. Dinner time - fried blue crabs and crayfish. And seafood options. For the rating that this place has I'll rather go somewhere else. Food is good and hot, but I saw something that capture attention. The food was okay--pretty standard buffet fare. For the price, I expected a little more in terms of quality. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. What bothered me more was the atmosphere. There were numerous signs posted with rules and instructions that felt confusing and excessive, making the experience feel more restrictive than welcoming. I also felt rushed throughout the meal. The most uncomfortable part of my visit was that the waitress touched my hair multiple times. While it may not have been intended negatively, it made me extremely uncomfortable and felt inappropriate. Expansive buffet options and delicious! Food was fresh and hot, and being constantly replenished. Service was excellent also, which I think is unusual for a buffet. The ambiance was functional, bright, super clean, and well laid out. We accidentally found this place, but it is now marked in my favorites and we will be back. Took my boys here since it had been years since we stopped by a buffet (COVID kind of put a stop to those) and we showed up with out appetites. The place seemed packed but we got seated immediately and we're attended to promptly by our very nice waitress who kept our drinks full the whole time. The food variety was great, I got small portions of each item so I could see what I really wanted to feast on and I got full after 2 plates with still food left I wanted to try. I had to stop at 2 plates to leave room for dessert since I always get full by the time I even look at the dessert bar. For the most part the food was great, but a good portion lacked flavor despite the appearance of looking amazing. Regardless, there is plenty of food for any type of food you are craving and I didn't even touch the hibachi bar which is a nice addition for the price of admission. With the holiday season coming up, if you don't want to eat at the crowded mall food court this is a great option to please all your picky eaters in a nice sit down environment with waiter be service. This is my mom's favorite buffet place and this is our first time coming since COVID. I've eaten here several times and never had a bad experience. There are plenty of options and even a hibachi grill if you want. They place gloves all around so you aren't handling the shared utensils and you mask up while getting your food. We kept our server busy clearing plates(5 of us) and we never ran out of drinks. Our lunch for 5 was $50 and some change. I highly recommend this place. read more

Pros: Lots of options. The rangoons were perfect - packed full and fried awesome, love the way they were folded as well. The food was pretty similar to most buffets like this. Sushi bar was impressive, couldn't speak on taste since I dont eat it. Dumplings, mei fun noodles, seafood delight and plain rains were also super yummy. My daughter loved the ice cream box! Cons: the egg rolls were pretty bland and had a lot more wrap than filling. Slightly disappointed to not find spring rolls as an option. The lo mein noodles were more like spaghetti noodles and my husband was pretty let down about that since their usually his favorite at a Chinese buffet. read more

Went there since I was in the area and hungry for lunch couple of days ago,since I Have not been there for a while. I've got two plates of food right of way , one for the cold food and one for hot. Right away I've noticed that all the (hot food) where lukewarm which is a source for bacteria, they all tasted the same, and the meats where ruberry also there whe either re-heated or left out too long.I All the shrimp was over cooked and ruberry.I also noticed that kitchen help was nowhere visible and that they did NOT wear gloves . while eating I actually felt like throwing up so I asked the server ( I had to flag her out twice since she haven't come to my table once) explaining my predicament and Asked since of the situation if I could take the rest of the food home since it was half eaten and I Was paying for. After she consulted the owner/casher they both came back with an attitude telling me that that that was Not not possible, to get my food I;ll have to pay for the boxes by charging me by the pound. They brought me the check for $36 something dollars instead the $14.99 for lunch. that's that was they rulle. Needless to say I left still hungry paid $15. dollars for food I have Not eaten. For all honesty, this place isn't what it used to be when it first opened about 7-8 years ago, or even during pre-COVID times. There's no more udon noodle bar and the quality of food has taken a pretty big tumble. There's also an increase of filler items and I found a lot of their food to be overly salty. Now would I still come here for lunch every once in a while? Yes, because for $11.99 it's still not a bad value, but I probably wouldn't be willing to pay the dinner price even if with the added seafood items. Let's talk customer service - food quality - overall experience. 1. The food is good but I'm not sure... For those who have eaten here might know what I'm talking about: was the food seasoned differently? If it tastes amazing, people come back (I.E: Chick-Fil-A, Miyabi's, First Watch, Metro Diner, Five Guys, etc) 2. Customer service, it's there, it's good enough for what it is. I see the waitresses doing a variety of things & if I may recommend this for the sake of everyone else, every patron in the restaurant sees where the waiters & waitresses are, (especially when they're sorting out dishes & silverware) please wash your hands after your secondary duties. 3. Overall experience, the buffet has a really good layout, I can definitely see myself coming back a lot more often after some changes. BIG changes. It lacked A LOT of potential great experiences which I definitely believe it affects business. This was by far the worst buffet I've ever had. The only seafood that was tasteful was the crab delight and the catfish, which was salty. I came just for the seafood and all of it was disappointing. My 7 year old went for fruit and dessert and the grapes were rotted, the jello tasted like paper and well as the cheesecake. I was too disappointed. However, the price of a glass of Ice Tea is ridiculous. The wait staff is great, polite and very attentive. The Hibachi cook does a great fried rice. They haven't since Vanilla Ice Cream in several months, but there are Chocolate and Ice Cream sandwiches to pick from. We have been eating at the Augusta location for years now. There is a Great Chow in Stockbridge, Ga off I-75 also. The usual host is a young man that greets the incoming customers, he is great. However, there is a young female hostess, that has a serious attitude problem. We have not seen her smile once in 4 years, and she wears Hot Pants/ short shorts most of the time. We had not been to Great Chow for at least a year. But, when we did go for dinner in the past we thought it was pretty good. The first thing I noticed last night was price increase. We did ask for the senior discount which, I advise that your take AARP's advice and ask. The food was as ample as before but I was taken back by how tasteless most of it was. The chicken was like saw dust and, where was the pork in the egg rolls? I did like the crab Rangoon and sesame chicken. I stopped there because I could not eat anymore. It was just bland. In all fairness, I did not try the sushi and the stir fry. The service was just ok but it was a buffet. Our drinks were refilled and the dirty dishes were removed. The sound level was not uncomfortable. Tables could accommodate a family of 4-5 including babies. Booths and table were evenly spaced but the cushions need repair and the chairs are uneven. I did not check out the restrooms. Even though I was not thrilled with dinner last night, I plan to try it again. Let's hope they can spice it up a bit, fix the cushions, even up the chairs and make the over all experience a little better. read more

Kind of on the disgusting side. I decided to give Great Chow one more chance. It's been about 6 months since I ate there last. I think some of the food from then was still on the buffet. The octopus was way over cooked. Kind of akin to chewing on an inner tube. Sauce was not bad. The peel and eat boiled shrimp had not been cleaned properly. They still had their mud vein. They were chewy. Bland. And they didn't have any containers for the cocktail sauce, which was actually edible. The sushi was downright nasty! The rice was gummy. Mucilage. The texture and taste made me think the rice is stored in some homeless guy's shoe. Maybe in a chicken coop. The one thing on the sushi bar I could stomach was the wasabi. They had a very large tub of that. The one edible thing is the Hibachi. Those ingredients were fresh, and the guy knows how to cook them. I have eaten hear two nights in a row. Staying in Augusta for work this week. Both nights I found the food hot and fresh. The variety was very large so I had no problems finding what I wanted. I am diabetic so I tend to eat as carb free as possible and had no problem meeting healthy food goals either. I love coming here for their lunch on the weekends. The price is around $9 or 10 a person all day. I was pleasantly surprised when I came this time their sushi and raw fish were pretty good quality. I also love that this place has a hibachi section where the chefs cook whatever you put on a plate made to order as well as a noodle place. There's a lot of seafood here including salmon, mussels, shrimp, and crab legs. They have a huge selection of ice cream too and I always love ending with a popsicle. Horrible food, horrible customer service, filthy and is not clean. With all those freaking workers you would think that the place would be cleaner. A lot of tables still had dirty plates, cups and napkins everywhere. The server with her snide remarks after 4 out of the party of 6 had black stuff floating on drinks. Two chances eere made for her to make it right, however, she chose to be a clown instead. I will never go back! The very first time I went about 10 years ago was good.
