This might have been in the top 3 worst restaurants I've ever been to. From the scowling hostess who simply said "pay here first" to the food that had very obviously been sitting there for hours. There was what I think was gravy that had hardened on the top. The chicken was dry or so chewy it was hard to eat. We finally gave up and ate fruit, some veggies and dessert. I kid you not! Everything was out of this world delicious. I was very surprised and pleased. They had everything and more that you could ever think of to have on a buffet. It was awesome. You should go. They have crab legs, all kinds of different shrimp, fish, raw oysters, ribs, all the different kinds of Chinese food, a soup bar where they will make you Pho, a hibachi bar with tons of fresh vegetables and meats that you choose and they cook on the grill, lots of desserts and ice cream. This is a great value for your money. Don't expect a lot from the crab legs though, I did see some people with decent ones but every time I went up they were pretty picked through with only small ones left. The rest of the food was good and a tremendous variety almost too much to choose from. I enjoy my dinner here and recommend it for others. I was in town for a day to visit some friends from college, we decided to eat here. the only reason why I'm giving it three stars because for one, the lady up front snatched our cards and our money out of our hands. I'm not sure if it was unintentional or what not. The food was good the only downfall to that would be the rice for the hibachi was hard and stale like tasting. My sisters own was the same way, so we didn't eat it. I'm not sure if it was because they were about to close. But overall the environment was nice.. the waitress constantly came around to refill drinks and pick up empty plates which is good. I am a regular customer. I work near by so I go at least once a week. Yesterday I was disappointed. The last few visit over several weeks have been poor. I brought my concerns to the cashier on the way out. I said one thing about food temperatures being cold. She than ran off to fix it. Never addressed my concerns. It wasn't one dish that was luke warm it was every hot dish I tried. I even had a crab dish that they just changed out. It was cold like it was in a refrigerator and not even warm. I also had peel and eat shrimp that had a funny texture like it was spoiling,freezer burnt or something. It even had a bad taste. The sushi was the same way. The edges of the salmon were crusty. The quality and options as good or maybe a little better than most buffets. Complaint? Pricing is a bit misleading. Huge sign on 520 indicates lunch 5.99 and dinner 8.99. There is also a banner over the restaurant stating the same pricing. What is not clear is that on Saturday and Sunday it is dinner pricing (8.99) all day. I went to great chow on Monday july 12 for lunch, they charged me $20.82 for myself. I would like to let everyone know that before leaving there make sure to check tip and total, if you don't leave tip mark it out and write total in bottom area. This was our first visit here. We had gone to another Chinese buffet and we totally grossed. Because we are light eaters and all like different things, we decided to go see what this was like. Our intent was to leave if what we saw warranted. This place was amazing. Clean, attentive waitress and good food. The only thing I ate that was a little less than my taste was the coconut shrimp. To the Management: you are not charging enough for the buffet!! We have a buffet in Evans that is almost comparable and it is $4.00 more per person. The buffet where we would never go is also the same. PLEASE raise the pricing so you do not attract people who do not value the quality provided. We arrived here super excited and ready to try out this new (to us) hibachi buffet since Hibachi Grill is now closed. Thanks corona. We were seated almost immediately and gave the host our drink orders then off we went to the buffet. I was disappointed by the small selection, but found a few things that looked pretty great so I shrugged it off. Met my girlfriend at our table and we were ready to dig in, but had not yet gotten our drinks. Sat there for a few minutes until she finally got up to request for our drinks and swing by the bathroom. Drinks finally came (no greeting, no straws) and we started eating once she got back. My food sadly seemed rather bland, even the sushi. Then to top it off the crawfish and crab meat were like a black-brown color and extremely soft. It was off putting so I looked up to complain to my girlfriend just to find a very disgusted look on her face. She then asked me to look at her plate and, there it was, a damn maggot in her lo mein. So we're both sitting there, extremely grossed out, anxiety filled (we've both been servers and hate the thought of complaining to management), and ready to dip out. Neither of us wanted to complain so we just grabbed our ticket and paid. Right after I paid, my girlfriend worked up the courage to tell the lady at the front desk that we weren't looking for a refund but that there was a bug in the lo mein. Handicap child turned away I am the mother of a 17 year old child that is handicapped. My son does not understand the concept of wearing a face mask, and does not like anything on his face. I do not force him to wear a mask, which would agitate him and cause him to get aggressive. I arrived at the restaurant with my son and 5 of my other children that were all wearing mask. The host told me that we could not dine because my disabled son was not wearing a mask. I tried to explain to her that he does not understand and she directed me to the lady at the payment counter. She told me that management would not make an exception. Neither lady attempted to get the manager that made this so called rule. My son is not able to go up to the buffet to fix his own food so he would not be around other customers. My kids were very disappointed that we had driven approximately 30 miles to be turned around at the door. I will never patronize this restaurant again. read more

2 years ago we had very good experience in great chow. Food was excellent, staffs were very friendly. This year we are back in town, first thing we checked is great chow, but very disappointing this time, we went there 3 days in a row, because we can't cook in a hotel room. The food is still good, but the cashier changed, every time we walk in, this young Chinese girl gave us the nasty face, it's like we owe her millions of dollars. Her attitude is sooooo unpleasant. We are there to support your business, not there to be treated like this. We wish the old cashier lady was there. We went to this place based solely on the reviews on here. I guess we should have looked more closely at who was making the reviews because obviously, they have never had good food before. Best go to buffet if you are looking for a little bit of everything Chinese food. Definitely enjoy this more than other Chinese buffets in town. They have create your own hibachi for no extra charge, decent sushi, tons of various entrees and sides, and even some American based foods for the picky little ones! They always have something to please everybody, and I do reccomend going when it's a little busy so the food they put out is consistently hot and fresh! Since lowering their prices for lunch and dinner I've found myself coming here with my family pretty often. Hope you can enjoy it as much as we have! read more

In from out of town looking for a good Chinese buffet. Looked at the reviews and saw that most of the negative ones were worthless. "The waitress messed up our drink order", "no one spoke English ", etc. I've found in my travels those type of reviews don't help me make a decision on how the food is. I went and was pleased with the fair. Seafood was fresh, pepper steak was tender and tasty, salt & pepper shrimp were large and cooked correctly. The trays were refilled very quickly by a kitchen staffer who wondered around the steam tables with a head set to the kitchen and she also helped bring out new trays. The wait staff refilled my beverage and cleared the dishes quickly even though they were busy. Everything was very good or above average. I would recommend this establishment and will be back when I'm back in Augusta. read more

This place just opened up not to long ago I think. The old Grand Buffet restaurant used to be here. They really put some time into changing the place around. The restaurant is very nice looking and has a cool atmosphere. The food here was really good and there was a great variety to choose from! I couldn't manage to try out all of the good looking food that was there. They had things like baked squid, coconut shrimp, crag legs, raw and fried oysters, numerous vegetables, frog legs, a bunch of fruits, sushi, and more. They even have a hibachi grill where they cook up the raw food you choose to select. Also, they have a lot of ice cream / popsicle selections to choose from. The staff here was very polite and friendly. The waitress (I believe her name was Amei) we had was great! She kept the refills of water coming for us. It was a Chinese buffet, it was good in the beginning and turned for the worse in later years. The lunch buffet was only $5 and still that was way too much money to pay for what they were offering. Bland, cold and tasteless food!!! Now enters Great Chow Chinese buffet(my mama calls it Mr. Chow because she wants to visit Mr. Chow's one day, so this is the next best thing to it). The owners went in a gave this whole place a new dazzling and modern look. The furnishings and lighting are great!!!! It gives this place a high end feel. This place offers lunch and dinner meals with the lunch being $6.99 I think and the dinner being 10.99, the drink is not included. They offer a little bit of everything. Chinese, sushi, Hibachi, noodles/pho, and some American items. There is a noodle/pho station, hibachi station, sushi station, and a freezer full of icy goodies!!!!! I ate mostly the Chinese selections. The standouts being the chicken wings, seafood delight, mixed vegetables, green beans, and fried fish. All of these items were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. I've been here two times this week and I was quite satisfied. I love the music they play here too. It's very upbeat and current!!! The first time I dined here I hear Rihanna's Work. Of course I had to give the patrons a taste of my amazing dance skills!!! Lol!!! I mesmerized one lady sitting across from me. She stop eating just to watch me dance!!! I become another person when I dance, like seriously!!! The second time I dined here they play Lalah Hathaway's Angel!!! I listen to that song everyday, it's one of my current favorites!!! I love the traditional music Chinese restaurants play but it's kind of somber and calming. Came during a busy lunch hour. I wanted a quick in and out meal. Was seated promptly but seating was limited and was seated in high traffic area right by entrance. I would recommend them removing this small seat and table. Once seated I noticed my table had no salt/pepper, sweeteners or soy sauce and I asked 3 times for these items also specifying Sweet N Low for my unsweet tea. After 3 times I recurved just salt and pepper, asking again I got the soy sauce and then asking for sweetener I just gave up when the server agave me Splenda. Normally I wouldn't complain about trivial things, but after 6 times asking I got annoyed. Food is reasonably priced for a buffet, but the mass of people you have to navigate through is a turnoff. Service was decent. This is my second time coming, the first time I came for lunch and was in a rush so i came back today when i had more time to enjoy my meal. Well there ended up being a HAIR in my husbands fried crab!!! Worst than that, when we informed the manager he tried to tell us that it came that way!!!! I was sooo pissed! Even the waitress was shocked when he said such a thing! The Manager then said the best he could do was take 1.06 or 10% cent off of my husbands price ONLY, because he is one who found hair.... with that being understood, i think you could do better than 1.06 cent! This is new so it's clean and thing are shiny and bright. The place even smelled like new construction where we sat in a booth on the far left side. We went during lunch and the food was good and fresh. There were the same selections from another buffet down the road so I was a little bummed by that. I did however try the soup station which is a new concept for me and I liked it! Mostly seafood things to put in and 3 broth flavors to choose from. The frozen desserts are individually wrapped so that was great. I got ice cream today. No mess and sticky melting ice cream on scoopers like the other one. I didn't try hibachi or the cake desserts. I bit the bullet and ate what all that I could, but I was not impressed. I had the Hibachi Grill where they prepare your meats and vegetables and they will stir-fried on the Hibachi Grill. They did not have a very large selection, just the basics Chicken, shrimp, beef, squid and talapia. A few veggies broccoli and zucchini and your choice of rice or lo mein noodles l. Once you get to the grill you choose your sauce. There are only three to choose from, Mandarin, teriyaki or soy. I mixed Mandarin and Teriyaki.... it was pretty good. Only comes with that you do not get any seasonings chilli, Cayenne or Ginge,r none of that good stuff. But my order was to go, so when I got home I added my extra touch. Overall it was good despite the fact I had to add my own seasonings, it wasn't terrible but I was just used to that special kind of tastes and I was really looking forward to it. I will definitely go back, the prices are averag, to go cost by the pound. I would consider that you check this place out for yourself. Mom had the regular Buffet. She said that hers was pretty good.
