Best bakery in town! The scones are delicious and just the right amount of sweetness. My girlfriend thought they were more like a biscuit than a scone, but I don't mind the less common take. The bagel with lox and all the veggies is a great sandwich. Their bagels aren't the best ever (more bread-like than a true bagel) but still quite tasty, especially with all the goods on top. Damn, these folks make some good cookies. I have tried the standard chocolate chip (very lightly gooey and delicious), the rosemary cornmeal shortbread (satisfying), and have the chocolate fudge peanut butter cookie waiting for me to dive into later. I also got the vegan chocolate chip muffin which was pretty darn good. Service is friendly and they seem to be pretty on-it with the orders, despite being really busy at lunch time. Also, bonus points for the kind person behind the counter who gave me an extra, undersized muffin for free in addition to the one that I bought. Added insights: clean bathrooms! It was a must that we got coffee at Great Basin and he told me there was one guy that was just so nice and worth saying hello to because he'll brighten up your day. He was right. There's this kid that works there that is so happy, I wonder what's in the bread. The pumpkin scone is so good I couldn't try anything else. I kept going back and just couldn't venture outside. Stopped in for one last meal before leaving Bishop. We ordered 4 breakfast sandwiches- nothing overly complicated (or so we thought) time on the receipt says 11:38. We absolutely don't mind waiting for homemade food, our irritation was when that wait was stretched to 30 minutes. To add salt into the wound, nearly every person who walked in after us received their homemade order before us. After waiting about 15 minutes, my husband inquired about the wait time and was assured "you are up next". The quality of the food is top notch though. We have 2 very happy kids and 2 happy adults. We would possibly order there again with the knowledge that there WILL be a bit of a wait. read more

We stopped here this morning and so glad we did! It was our first time. I wanted to get some of their chocolate mud cookies but the girl helping me said they didn't have any yet. I bought a loaf of sourdough (haven't tried yet, looks so good) a spinach artichoke croissant that was insanely delicious, I wish I had bought a box! We also got a tuna salad and a tom turkey sandwich both on the sourdough. We loved the sandwiches and 100% will be back. The girl working the counter was so sweet and the woman who gave us our food to go was kind and welcoming. Highly recommend this spot! read more

Food was good, once we got it. My wife got a bagel with cream cheese, tomato, and onion, and I got a breakfast sandwich. Hers was ready in 10+ minutes, and mine took more than 20 minutes. First, who preps and delivers a partial order? Not sure if it was busier than normal, or unorganized. BUT if I had to choose between the two, I would go with unorganized. We may or may not go back. The raspberry scone was the best scone I've ever had, moist & not too crumbly. The coconut chocolate chunk shortbread cookie is also next level moist and sweet deliciousness. The only reason it's a 4 out of 5 stars for me is because the gal helping us wasn't very knowledgeable (maybe she was new?) about the cookies, and our breakfast sandwhich also took a while. This is a cute little bakery, just off Hwy 395, just as you are heading through Bishop, blink and you will miss it. I LOVE this bakery! I stopped in last week and was pleasantly surprised by the array of selections. This play may look little on the outside but they have HUGE flavor and baked yummy goodies! I got the spinach and feta cressant, it was so flakey, with the spinach and feta in the middle, it was a great much treat. I also bought a loaf of sliced french bread, which is absolutely to die for! I've made the best sandwiches out of it, and I really can't wait to go back to this delightful place. The employees were very helpful in finding me just what I wanted. Even my mom was able to find gluten-free cookie, that was so good! It was slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It's hard to find good gluten-free baked goods! My husband and i stopped here for breakfast. I ended up getting a BLAT bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato. It was SO good. My husband got a breakfast sandwich. Best one I've ever tasted. They have a big selection of fresh baled breads, different varities of bagels (next time I'm trying there pizza one) yup, a pizza bagel. It looked AMAZING. Well, all their stuff did. They also make fresh baked goodies such as brownied, pies, and cookies. Next time im definitely walking away with a few bags of stuff. Definitely try them out. read more

"What more bread places Steve? You really have a problem with carbs!" I know that's what you all are thinking but I really can't resist. While on the Eastern of the High Sierras you have to stop by this little gem. Come early or miss out on the goodies! This little bakery is off the beaten path. Not the tourist trap Schats Is. This is the place locals come for great treats. I showed up and scored in the "day old" section. The scones and cinnamon rolls were half off. The almond scones are scrumptious with a cup of their dark roast coffee. Renee and I were able to get a table right outside the door to sit and enjoy the mountain view while chowing on our bounty. I got the stuffed artichoke and spinach croissant while she tried their lox on bagel with capers. Both of our dishes were amazing. Refills on coffee are 50 cents and their beans are locally roasted. I love Bishop for its fresh air, beautiful mountain range and hearty home cooked bakery treats. Oh and by the way the scones freeze very nice, so don't be shy to pick up more than your share. read more

When we take our out of town guests here, they want to move to Bishop. This is the tiny locals' bakery in town, vs. Schat's, which is where all the tourists go. I like Schat's bread, and sandwiches, but I come here for scones, croissants, and cookies! Their cookies are MOST amazing - I sometimes can't decide my favorites - probably the Cowgirl Cookies, that have dried apricots in them, and are very hearty, but the molasses cookies are amazing, and I really love the Rosemary Shortbread cookies... in small doses - they are kind of odd - they are a savory cookie, and incredibly rich shortbread, but the flavor fascinates me. I usually can only eat 1/2 of one, just because of the richness, but sometimes I can't stop at 1/2! They are not for everyone - I would guess you'd either love or hate them. I love them. But everyone loves the Cowgirls! :) Their sandwiches are very tasty, too - I like the turkey sandwich with the special red pepper mayo - yummy! Their breads are also very good - they have a different bread every day and some good day-old deals. I love the whole wheat bagels - especially for breakfast with lox and cream cheese - yum! But the main reasons to come here are the cookies and scones. Oh, and the artichoke-parmesan croissants! They also serve good locally roasted coffee. If you want to go to a bakery that is not swarming with tourists, and you like a slightly "crunchy" atmosphere, this is the place. Seating inside and a couple tables in front.
