This is my first choice for oil changes and other small repairs. The first time I went in for an oil change, I was told I needed my cabin air filter replaced, but chose not to do it. Terrance, the guy who serviced my car this time said he thought my filter looked just fine and he wouldn't replace it on his own car, saving me a few bucks I thought I would have to spend. It did make me wonder why the last tech had recommended it though. Sid, the guy who checked me out, was also exceptionally courteous, answering my questions about future service that might be recommended. Everyone I interacted with was very polite, and made me feel appreciated. The nice waiting area with free cookies, donuts, sodas, and Gatorade is just more icing on the cake. read more

Utterly terrible. Such a scam. I take my car to my mechanic to flush my radiator fluids only to find that a grease monkeying Idaho had filled my car with the wrong oil at my last change and that it's overfilled. The wrong oil is written right there on the sticker. My mechanic tells me to go back and complain to grease monkey cause he's worried it's caused damage. So I head to this grease monkey here in Seattle who tells me "not our problem since we are not owned by the same people as the other grease monkey who missfilled my car." Sure. So I ask if they will help me call the other grease monkey to get my oil exchanged for the right oil and they refuse. They offer no help. They asked me to move my car. And they try and close while I'm waiting to be helped. Meanwhile, the other grease monkey is telling me that they made a mistake it's documented right there in their noting and they are offering to pay this grease monkey to change my oil. It is completely unbelievable that they were unwilling to help. They do not care about their customers nd they do not care about screwing their customers over. Do yourself a favor and do not come ever come to this shop. read more

I do not know how did they get more than 2 stars. Extremely unprofessional. They do not put cover on seats before to get in a car, so they left oil spots on seats and on dash. But it's not big mistake. Most important they do not put engine cover properly and broke one of it's clips. If they do not pay enough attention and can not even properly put engine cover I do they do more complex work? I never ever ever get here again. read more

After being turned down at Les Schwab, and jiffy lube, the guys at grease monkey were able to help me. They dropped the price of labor down and got me in and out quickly. I had my rear hatch shocks replaced, and plan to return for future service. Hard to find honest mechanics, but now the search is over. Thanks again guys! read more

I switched to these guys because my old mechanic insisted I get a full synthetic for my new 2009 Matrix and wouldn't let me get a regular one. But these guys gave me the regular oil change without b.s. When I asked for a tire rotation, they were honest to tell me they'll check the treads to see if it needs it first. They gave me a $10 discount my first time. I get their coupons in the mail. They check everything, transmission fluid, and showed me the air filter. They ran out of air filters the last 2 times I was there, but the manager's really cool about showing me where on the car it is and how to open and close the case because I had to go buy one and do it myself. There was a ton of road construction today, so I missed the driveway on my way out, drove over the curb and got stuck. All 3 mechanics rushed to my rescue and helped me back my car up! It was closing time, but I believed they would have help regardless. I highly recommend them. They treated me with respect unlike other places who will take advantage of you for being a woman. They vacuumed, washed windows, filled wiper fluid, etc. The guy asked me to check when the transmission fluid was changed because it smelled burnt and looked brown to him. That was the only negative news because the paper work said my car had a transmission flush 7 months ago. I hope it's still good and they're wrong. I'm thinking they say that a lot. But I'm giving them 5 stars because they provided all this service and was respectful. read more

This was the best oil change experience I've ever had. Usually you're bombarded with up-sales and services that you don't need, but that wasn't the case at Grease Monkey. The guys were extremely friendly and informative, not pushy. The waiting room was clean and stocked with snacks. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Very convenient location. Service was fantastic and fast. I barely had time to finish my cup of coffee and register for the autographed Mariners jersey. My only complaint is they didn't apply my $15 off coupon to my bill. I thought it was applied when I checked in, showed the coupon to the guy, who said it was good so I didn't look when I paid the bill. I assumed it was applied. read more

This review is truthful and I am in no way related to the business nor was I asked to provide feedback. I was so impressed with the service, honesty, and sincerity of these gentlemen. Quick summary: I brought my car in with a brake issue; they inspected and fixed the issue and sent me on my way completely free. I have never experienced a shop who would do that. I was waiting before they opened last Saturday morning to have them check my brakes (brake light was on and would not turn off). They opened the gate early and collected my details. They raised the car and performed a complete brake inspection. They discovered the root cause of the steady brake light was due to low brake fluid. They added brake fluid for free, confirmed from the inspection that the car had no other issues and sent me on my way. They used their shop, car-lift, expertise, experience, and added fluid to my car to fix the issue, all for free. I was clearly shocked and impressed when the owner told me there were no charges. He proudly pointed at the sign on the wall which says, "free brake inspections". If I had taken the car to the dealer for the same issue, I feel confident that the dealer would have not addressed the issue without costly charges. The owner (I think his name is Sidney) seems sincere and genuine. It is clear he takes great pride in the business and he wants to ensure customers are satisfied. Based on my experience, I would recommend this Grease Monkey location to everyone. read more

ANOTHER botched job... This Grease Monkey has failed to replace the drain plug gasket on my car twice in a row now. Twice, I have driven away only to realize a day later that I am dripping oil from my drain plug. You see, there is a circular washer/gasket at the drain plug that 100% must replaced with every oil change. If you reuse the old gasket, the metal-to-metal contact of the drain plug to the oil pan won't seal... and you will drip oil. This Grease Monkey is shorting customers on a washer that costs them 50 cents. More alarming, is that they have a systematic problem of simply not replacing this crucial piece, something that every technician would be fully aware of. They fooled me once, and I went back and asked for a complimentary re-do which they honored. But fool me twice, and I'm not letting these guys touch my vehicle ever again. Came here because of brake noise, and (no surprise) they said that I needed to replace my brake pads and at least 1 rotor. They were very nice, professional, and did good work. All work was pre-approved after the free inspection, and all costs were up front and reasonable. Communication was excellent! I'd come back here for anything they do. read more

I really appreciated Cedric's integrity in checking with my manufacturer to help me save some money on the type of oil I chose. During the full inspection they did offer to change a bulb in my brake light, though I had it changed elsewhere and that didn't solve the problem--it could be a wiring issue. I made the mistake of going to Jiffy Lube last time for an oil change and am really pleased that Grease Monkey didn't pressure or try to upsell me on anything like they tried at Jiffy Lube. The beverages and donuts were a nice addition. I understand the staff are probably different at each location, but everyone at this location was friendly, informative, and honest. read more

I visited this Grease Monkey in July 2017 for an oil change. Although they changed my oil quickly and we're very friendly, they managed to mess other parts of my car that I did not ask them to touch during the service. Trying to up sell me on other services, they removed my air filter and took samples of my transmission fluid to show me. They claimed my serpentine belt needed to be replaced asap. Worried, I later took my car to my own mechanic. Turns out he had just replaced the serpentine belt and nothing was wrong! The technicians at Grease monkey had also failed to put my air filter back in, resulting in my engine taking on debree. They did not put my transmission dip stick back correctly, it was sticking out 3 inches! To top it off, they did not latch my radiator and cracked the top by trying to push it back so all my coolant had been leaking out. I am very unhappy that something as simple as an oil change has resulted in so much damage. I will not be returning to this location!!! read more

I've always gotten great service here at a fair price (the location at NE 55th St.). As others have said, they check your tires, vacuum your car and clean your windows in addition to whatever work you are having done. The staff are friendly and work quickly. I came in one Saturday afternoon just as they were closing (I didn't realize it was so late), but they took my car anyway, and had me out the door in 5 minutes. There are always good drinks and cookies in the waiting area. I have never had any instance of feeling like they were unscrupulous, as one Yelper mentioned. I think they are all very nice and give you excellent service. I would highly recommend this business. read more

I took my car to Grease Monkey to get the oil and the transmission fluid changed. The car was working perfectly at that time and hasn't given me any trouble before. When I drove away the Service Soon light and low oil light came on. I took it back to Grease Monkey after driving two miles and they said I was a half a quart low and they had a new employee working on the car. They also said if anything has happened to the car they would fix it. I thought that was strange since they said it was only half a quart low. After they drained the fluids and put the correct amount back in they pulled it out and parked it on the street but then couldn't get it started. They had it towed to the BMW dealership who couldn't figure out what was wrong so they recommended changing the battery although the battery tested fine. I had them replace the battery but it was really running rough when I pulled away and continued to get louder and run rougher as I drove. I took it to a BMW specialist that also couldn't figure out what was wrong so they recommended replacing the plugs, coils and starter. After that was done the car still to ran rough and proceeded to got louder. I took it back to the mechanic and they said that the inside of my engine and oil filter had a large amount of metal flakes in it. I sent the oil out to a lab which tested positive for excess fuel. This was caused by not having enough oil in the engine. The end result was that I had to replace the entire engine to the tune of $8,500. The car is only six years old so it's not like it was an old car. I was told by several BMW mechanics that this would never happen unless the car didn't have enough oil. If you care about your car take it to a real automotive shop. It could save you thousands of dollars! read more
